Paper Players 167

Well, that was a pretty nice and busy weekend! I had dinner Friday night, the party on Saturday and then a nice ride into Manhattan to drop off an order and have some dinner. We went to Momofuku downtown. It’s a noodle bar and I do love some ramen noodles. They also have really good pork buns, made extra tasty with some hot sauce. I also had a very good beer that was called Baba and it is brewed in none other than Salt Lake City, UT! I think I will be adding and extra day to the gym schedule this week!

It’s Monday, the bad part… back to work, the good part… it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have a great color combo from Jaydee…

Paper Players #167

Love me some blue!! I went with a simple classic card. The base of the card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I created a large flag with a piece of the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack and adhered that to the card front as a sort of small background. The image is from the Everyday Occasions Kit and is stamped in Midnight Muse and cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits. I also used the Framelits to cut out a piece of Pool Party to put behind the greeting and I adhered them all to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Pool Party Bakers Twine wrapped around the top and tied in a bow along with a few Basic Jewels Rhinestones completes the card. The color combination is definitely one of my favorites and the stamps in the Everyday Occasions kit are great! Thank you for stopping by to see my Paper Players challenge card for this week’s sketch from Jaydee. Have a great day! 🙂

And there goes another weekend, so fast! I had a great weekend and hope you did too. Yesterday it was gloomy so I crafted in the morning and then went with a friend of mine to see the Rise of the Jack-O-Lanterns at Westbury Gardens. I have to say that it was pretty neat! It starts at 7:00pm, with groups going through every 15 minutes and you can take your time and linger. It’s also pretty cool because at the end there is a walk through a completely overgrown path and then a nice walk along the pond. I took a bunch of pictures and I have a few to share with you. A nice bonus was that I got to see my Sandy who was there with some of her family!

The first one is the really neat sign that they have at the entrance.

Rise Sign

The next one is a really cool Edward Scissorhands made from a bunch of pumpkins.

Rise Burton

Up next is a really cool city scene complete with a set of subway cars.

Rise City

This last one I just thought was so cool, it is a very realistic wave.

Rise Wave

Now those were some pretty awesome pumpkins! I wish I would have brought a camera so I could have zoomed in to get a little closer but I’m so use to taking pictures with my iPhone I never think about a camera!

It’s Monday which means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have a fun Halloween theme challenge from the lovely Nance…

Paper Players #166

I was going to do the treat holder but then I was possessed by the need to make a Halloween card with Gumball Green! The base of the card is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Gumball Green. For the top and bottom of the card I cut out some Silver Glimmer Paper and Pumpkin Pie with the Large Scallop Edgelit Die and layered them. My fun little skulls are from the Halloween Hello Stamp Set and are stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them securely to the Glimmer Paper. The greeting is from the Seasonal Sayings Stamp Set (which is a carry-over from last year’s Holiday Catalog) and is markered in Gumball Green and Pumpkin Pie. I used the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies to cut it out and another piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. Under that is a piece of Basic Black that I cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and embossed it using the “Vintage” Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I love Gumball Green for a Halloween card and the Glimmer Paper and the skulls are just fun! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Paper Players card for this weeks Halloween theme challenge from Nance. Have a bearable Monday peeps! 🙂

There must be a petition someone could start to make the weekends three days! They just go way too fast! I had a busy day yesterday making my swaps for the Control Freaks Holiday Swap. I also made a few other cards and when I was finished I wanted to make some more. I have issues don’t I?!?! LOL! I love a little crafting! How did everything go with your weekend? We are to have more lovely weather this week here on Long Island! YEAH!!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from Ann…

Paper Players #165

I went with the middle row across; Patterned Paper, Embossing & Any Shade of Blue. The base of my card is Island Indigo Card Stock. I used some Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my heat tool to emboss the greeting from the Snow Day Stamp Set across the bottom. The background is a piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Two strips of paper from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack frame the right and bottom. The image is also from the Snow Day Stamp Set, the snowman is stamped in Soft Sky, his eyes, buttons and arms in Early Espresso, his nose in Tangerine Tango and his hat and scarf in Island Indigo. I mounted him to a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. I think he is just the cutest little snowman ever, don’t you? So let’s review; dry and heat embossing, patterned paper and a few shades of blue, yup, looks like I covered them all! Thank you so much for spending some time with me today to see my Paper Players card for this week’s Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from Ann. I hope you all have the best Monday ever! 🙂

Well that four day weekend just flew by didn’t it. Thursday I was on a plane to Atlanta, Friday I was Zip-Lining, Saturday I was stamping with Brian and Sunday another plane and then a trip into Manhattan and a lovely belated birthday dinner with my friend Kim. It was so jam packed with fun that’s probably why it went so quickly! I really did have an amazing weekend, a HUGE thank you to everyone that made it possible! 🙂

Today I have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This time we have a sketch from the lovely and talented Sandy…

Paper Players #164

After I made my anniversary card for my parents I used the Typeset Alphabet to cut out some excess rubber from a stamp set in an ampersand, that’s where today’s ampersand comes from. The base of the card is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. The background is made from two pieces of Etcetera Designer Series Paper. I used the Needlepoint Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and some Night of Navy to cover the seam down the middle. A piece of Old Olive is cut out withe the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies and some Basic Jewels Pearls are added in the center of each one. Some Calypso Coral, cut out with the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and a piece of Pool Party, stamped in Night of Navy with the Ampersand are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the background. A Brights Designer Button with some Linen Thread is adhered to the ampersand with a Mini Glue Dot. The greeting is form the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is also stamped in Night of Navy. I really love the colors in the Etcetera DSP and the ampersand is pretty cool too! Thank you for stopping by to see my second Stamped with Brian card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Sandy. I hope you enjoyed the card and your Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 163

How was the weekend? Mine… not too bad. I went into Manhattan yesterday to see a friend, it was a beautiful day. Still a bit crisp but it did warm up. I think this is my favorite time to be in the city, you can walk around with overheating. I came home and did some puttering in the craft area, picked up my daughter from work and ran some errands. Monday, you just come way too fast!

My post for today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This time around Anne Marie has given us a CAS for the kids challenge…

Paper Players #163

I have had this idea in my head for a little bit and I thought this would be the perfect time to try it out. The base of my card is Basic Black Card Stock. The background is a piece of Smoky Slate. All of the images on the top half of the card are from the “Vintage” Out on a Limb Stamp Set. The branch, stamped in Early Espresso, and the cat, stamped in Basic Black, are stamped directly onto the background. The super cute little witch is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with my Blush Blossom, Pumpkin Pie and Pistachio Pudding Stampin’ Write Markers. I used Crushed Curry to stamp the broom and colored it in with So Saffron. She is then punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the edges are sponged in Smoky Slate. The two clouds are stamped in Smoky Slate and cut out with my Paper Snips. On to the idea part of my card. I stamped the greeting from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie. Using my Stampin’ Trimmer and the Rotary attachment I cut a piece of Gumball Green with the Perforating Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade and used some Sticky Strip to adhere it over the greeting. The spider web is from the “Vintage” Spooky Bingo Bits Stamp Set and the “pull” is stamped with the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie. Now here comes the fun part, you pull open the top to reveal the greeting underneath! What kid (or adult for that matter) wouldn’t want to do that?! Pretty cool huh?! Oh yes, there will be more of these!! Thank you very much for checking out my Paper Players card for this week’s CAS for the kids challenge from Anne Marie. I appreciate your visit and hope you have a zippy day! 🙂

And there goes another weekend zipping by. Monday, why must you come so quickly?! I had a productive weekend so I can’t complain, got lots of projects finished and that is always good. I’m wishing this cold would go away, that would make me very happy indeed! How was your weekend? Did you do any fun last hurrah for the summer things?

Monday does mean that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have an interesting color combo from lovely LeAnne…

Paper Players #162

I had a little trouble deciding what to do at first, there are quite a few possibilities. In the end I went with a simple thank you card. For the base I used a piece of Basic Black Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack. The main image and greeting are from the Gifts of Kindness Stamp Set, the flowers are stamped in Rich Razzleberry and the greeting in Basic Black. I backed it with a piece of Pool Party and a piece of Basic Black. The butterfly is from the Polka-dot Pieces Stamp Set and is also stamped in Rich Razzleberry and punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Two Subtles Designer Buttons make up the flower centers and some Basic Jewels Pearls give the butterfly a little oomph. I haven’t made a simple card like this one in a while and I love the combination of the stamp sets and DSP, they work quite well together. Thank you for stopping by to see my Paper Players card for this week’s color challenge from LeAnne. I hope you all have a good Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 161

I had a little sleep in this morning in celebration of having a Monday off! Yesterday was very nice, I got some more projects done and went to a BBQ at my friends Brian & Kim’s house. We had some really good chicken sausage and I got to see the kiddies too! Today is overcast and drizzling here so it will be a good crafty day which is fine by me! How is everything by you? What are you up to today?

My card for today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have a theme challenge from Sandy. She has asked us to create a fall themed card…

Paper Players #161

What says fall more than Thanksgiving?! For my card base I used Chocolate Chip Card Stock. The background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped with the woodgrain pattern from the Truly Grateful Stamp Set in Chocolate Chip and backed it with a piece of Tangerine Tango. The wreath is the Wonderful Wreath Stamp and I stamped it in Tangerine Tango and cut it out with my Paper Snips. A piece of Chocolate Chip is flagged on either end and adhered to the back and the wreath and that is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The turkey and greeting are from the Harvest of Thanks Stamp Set and are both stamped in Chocolate Chip. I cut the turkey out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies and the greeting with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the wreath. I really love the woodgrain pattern stamp and the wreath looks pretty good in Tangerine for fall don’t you think? Thank you so much for stopping by to see my card for this week’s fall themed challenge from the Paper Players. I’m truly grateful for your visit and I hope you have a great day! 🙂

Paper Players 160

I know that I say it every Monday but boy did that weekend fly by. Yesterday was pretty nice, I did my projects and played around with some new ideas. Then around 8:00 I got a raging headache so I took some Excedrin and laid down. Wouldn’t you know I fell asleep and woke up at 12:00! Ha, that was definitely not a good thing. When I got up I wanted to sit at the craft desk again but I thought that would be a bad idea! It took a while to get back to sleep and I was up early this morning. Let’s see how long before I need a nap at work! LOL! The weather here yesterday was gorgeous, nice and mild with a breeze and perfect leave the windows open sleeping weather last night. The weather everyday should be like yesterday!

Today my post is for this week’s Paper Players. Before I get to it I wanted to thank Nance for selecting my card for her Cut Above for last week’s one layer card. You can see the winners list here and my original post here. This week Nance has given us a really cool sketch to work with…

Paper Players #160

I had a picture in my head of what I wanted the card to look like before I got started, love that! The base of the card is Gumball Green Card Stock. I used the Off the Grid Stamp and some Tangerine Tango Card Stock and Tangerine Tango Ink to create my background. Next up is some Witches’ Brew Designer Washi Tape on the diagonal with a thin strip of Gumball Green in the center. The stamped image is from the Halloween Bash Stamp Set. I stamped it three times, once in Gumball Green then in Tangerine Tango and again in Basic Black. The Gumball one is punched out with the Decorative Label Punch, the Tangerine one with the Scallop Oval Punch and the bat is cut out with my Paper Snips. All of them are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The three Gumball Green chevrons are punched out with the Chevron Border Punch and are also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love the Gumball with the Tangerine and Black, it gives the card a nice pop of color. I will definitely incorporate more Gumball into my Halloween projects! Thank you for visiting me today to see my Paper Players card for this week’s sketch from Nance. Have a good Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 159

Ahh.. Monday, I see you are back again. I wish you were a little more considerate of Saturday and Sunday and let them take their time leaving! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty nice. I had my Manhattan outing on Saturday and I spent a lot of time crafting which always makes me a happy boy. The weather here yesterday was overcast and it drizzled from time to time but a pretty good day none the less.

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players challenge and Ann has given us a one layer card…

Paper Players #159

I do love to make a one layer card! It can be a real challenge, especially if you like to layer things up an pile on the embellishments, but who doesn’t like to go outside their comfort zone?! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I created a mask for where I stamped the sentiment with some printer paper. I stamped the Magnificent Maple Stamp in Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, Early Espresso and Real Red randomly on the card. After I lifted the mask I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the greeting from the Thankful Stamp and stamped it in Rich Razzleberry. To create the outline I used my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker and a ruler. After I finished the card I went on to make a few other projects and when I looked at it again I could swear the greeting looked separate! Thank you so much for coming by today to see my card for this week’s CAS Single Layer card from Ann. Have a good Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 158

Yet again that weekend just flew by! Good morning, how are you all doing on this Monday? I had a very nice weekend that was the perfect blend of friends, fun and projects! It always goes too fast doesn’t it? There is always just a little more that I want to get to and before you know it it’s Sunday night at 12:00! I keep telling myself that I’m going to get to bed early, I really should just give up! LOL! It’s never gonna happen! I did go to my friends house yesterday and went in the pool, it’s saltwater which I find much nicer than chlorine. Your skin is nice and soft and you don’t smell all chemical like when you get out! Here is a little picture of the waterfall…

Spa Carol

It’s very pretty isn’t it and very relaxing too! Moving right along to today’s post which is for this week’s Paper Players. This week we have a color challenge from the superb Sandy. It’s her debut on the design team and I think she did a nice job with these…

Paper Players #158

Apparently I am determined to show you that you can make a holiday card out of almost any colors! And we know I love a collage card! The base of today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock and I used a piece of Subtles Designer Series Paper for the background. I rounded the bottom corners on both with the 1″ Circle Punch. The stamps are from quite a few different sets, we have A Banner Christmas, Tape It, Six Sided Sampler and Christmas Collectibles. They are stamped in Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pear Pizzaz. The ornament is punched out with the Christmas Ornament Punch, the HO3 (which I think is great!) is punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch and the hexagons are punched out with, what else, the Hexagon punch. I had some leftover chevrons from my card the other day that I cut out with the Circle Thinlits Dies so they found a little home in the lower left corner. I also thought a hook on the ornament would be neat so I fashioned one out of a paperclip! A fun and definitely different Christmas card! I thank you very much for coming by to see my Paper Players card for this week’s color challenge from Sandy. Show Sandy some love and enter your card in the gallery! I hope that you have an excellent day! 🙂
