Paper Players 268

We had a very wet and windy Wednesday! Say that fast a few times! LOL! I did spend a lot of the day indoors. I watched TV and crafted and thought about straightening up… that unfortunately didn’t happen. There is always today for that… or not! I ordered myself four new tires from TireRack.com, thanks Andrea for the suggestion. They should be here today and hopefully I will be able to find somewhere to install them! I did need new tires and I’m glad that I got the flat here instead of in Manhattan! See, there is a bright side to everything! Oh, before I forget I was reading Jennifer McGuire’s blog the other day and she linked to a story that I think all of you should read! The video isn’t really relevant but the article describes what we have all known for a long time! Click HERE to take a look!

My card for today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Guess what came yesterday… my Simon Kit! Couldn’t wait to play with that so I didn’t! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I dug in the archives and found some Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper and decided that would make a nice background for my pie! The circle is cut from some Kraft Card Stock with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Dies and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. I stamped the apple, pie and greeting on Solar White 80lb, the apple and pie in Memento Tuxedo Black and the banner with the greeting in Simon Says Stamp Stone and Black Ink. Some coloring in of the apple and pie with my Copics before adding some Ranger Rock Candy Distress Glitter to the top of the pie and Glossy Accents to the filling and apple before cutting them out with my Paper Snips and adhering them and the greeting to the circle with Foam Tape. To balance it out I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Raspberry, Marshmallow and Sparkling Clear Sequins around the images. Doesn’t that apple and pie look good enough to eat with the “sugar” and Glossy Accents?! LOL! I Hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Starry Feather Gift Box

Another nice Saturday spent in Manhattan! I went in early and sat in Starbucks leisurely driving my coffee and taking care of some blog stuff. I met up with Barbara at The Ink Pad and hung out with her for a good part of the day. Effie from The Ton came by and dropped off some more of her lovely stamps to replenish all of the ones that have sold. I also got to meet Joan Bess, author of Gelli Plate Printing and she was just lovely! When the store closed I gave Barbara a ride uptown to her apartment and then headed home myself. I love my fun weekends in the city! Here is Joan holding her book and an Ink Pad bag!

Today I have something a little different for you! I always give a lot of gift cards for different occasions so when I found out that the Lawn Fawn Pillow Box held one perfectly I had to make one! I used the die to cut out some Neenah Solar White 80lb Card Stock. Before I assembled it I stamped it with Simon Says Stamp Stone Ink using the Hero Arts Tiny Star Background Stamp. A strip of tape down the flap of the pillow box and it’s assembled! The front is decorated with stamps from the Simon Says Stamp Oh Happy Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. They are stamped in Simon Says Stamp Stone, Lake Shores and Catkin ink and cut out with the coordinating Simon Says Stamp Happy Day Dies. I adhered the feathers and branches to the card with SNAIL and the greeting with Foam Tape. A piece of Lawn Fawn Silver Sparkle Lawn Trimmings Cord along with a few Pretty Pink Posh Aquamarine and Charcoal Sequins give it a little more pizzaz. For a little extra bling I added a Basic Jewel Rhinestone to the center of each of the Sequins! I loved making the pillow box and will definitely be making some more to have on hand! Freshly Made Sketches 209

Hello peeps! Happy FRIDAY! It was another beautiful day in Manhattan yesterday, nice and sunny and warm! I hung out with Anna at The Ink Pad and helped a little bit more with the order that they received. I also got to meet the very nice lady that creates The Ton Coture Stamps. Her name is Effie Cho and she said that she liked the card that I made using her Large Peony Set from yesterday! So cool when you get to meet the people behind the products that you use! Today I’m going to see Renee for a bit in the morning and then work on a few projects when I get back. What’s on for you guys?!

My card for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jen B….

A very clean sketch indeed! The card begins with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of Solar White 80lb and spattered it with a mix of Royal Langnickel Prussian Blue Watercolor, Windsor & Newton Iridescent Medium and water. It’s adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The snowflake and thanks are both cut from a piece of paper from the Recollections Midnight Magic 6×6 Pad using the Simon Says Stamp Nadine Snowflake Die and the Simon Says Stamp Thanks Die. I adhered them to the background with Multi-Matte Medium. You know what’s coming next! LOL! Some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear and Gold Sequins are sprinkled about for a little more shine! I love the fun spatter concoction and can’t wait to make it in other colors and the snowflake has a very 20’s feel to it! Pink Peony Hello

We had another nice sunny day here yesterday! It was in the 70’s in Manhattan, not to last too long though, tonight it’s to drop down into the 40’s. But I did enjoy the day! I spent some time at The Ink Pad, they got in a huge order so I volunteered to help with it. It’s a great way to have first dibs on the new goodies! LOL! Last night I met Kim at the Party City on 14th Street. She is off to St. Louis this morning and had to get a Halloween costume. After that we had some Chipotle for dinner and then headed back uptown to her apartment. I set up her Pebble Watch, FitBit, iPad and Bluetooth Music Receiver, that’s a lot of electronics! This morning I’m going to head back down to The Ink Pad and then make my way home.

Today I have a card that uses a new line of stamps that The Ink Pad is the exclusive retailer of. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Neenah Desert Storm with the We R Memory Keepers Woodgrain Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The flower and leaves are from the Large Peony Photopolymer Stamp Set from The Ton Coture Stamps Set. I heat embossed it and the leaves in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on some Ranger Watercolor Card Stock. To color them I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a damp paint brush. They are then cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. My greeting is a piece of paper from the Midnight Magic 6×6 Pad and Black 110lb cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Painted Hello Die. I adhered them to each other and to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. Finally, a few Pretty Pink Posh Ballerina and Gold Sequins are scattered around the flower finish off the card with a little sparkle! I do love that flower, nice and big, oh and very bright! LOL! Wow! It’s Wednesday already! I spent the morning yesterday working on some projects, I’ll be in Manhattan today and staying over at Kim’s tonight coming back tomorrow night so I needed to get some stuff done! Daniel was here yesterday too so he came over and we played for a while and then watched a cartoon. He gets so mad when the ads come on! LOL! After dinner I ran to Michaels with Heather so she could get a picture framed, we stopped at BJ’s and Target on the way home too. Last night Taylor stopped by and we watched Limitless. After that it was time for bed. How is your week going?

Today I have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

I’m loving the new Stitched Leaves Dies form Lawn Fawn, perfect for this challenge! The card starts with a base of Ivory 110lb Card Stock. I adhered a strip of Bronze Card Stock down the left side. The panel is a piece of Early Espresso that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Thanks Card Die and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Next up are the leaves that are cut from Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist and more Bronze with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Leaves Dies. They are adhered to the panel with Glue Dots. A few American Crafts Halloween and Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Bronze Sequins complete the card. Super clean and simple with nice warm colors! Freshly Made Sketches 208

I had a nice Wednesday, how about you? I worked on some projects in the morning and then went out to make an appointment to get an eye exam and some new contacts on Friday. I had to go over to Scrap-A Latte to cut for class and on my way over I stopped by Heather’s to catch up with her for a bit. I did manage to get most of the cutting done and I stayed in the store while Renee went and got her hair done. Angie stopped by and we had a nice long chat and not soon after she left it was time to lock up and head over to Hicksville to meet Danielle at SmashBurger for dinner. After we ate we stopped by the mall so that Danielle could get a few more things for her Halloween costume. She is going to be Wonder Woman and let me tell you Linda Carter would be jealous! LOL! Today I’m off to Manhattan to spend a little time at The Ink Pad with Barbara and Anna. From there I’m back out to the Island for tonight’s card class. Taylor is supposed to get me from the Babylon train station and then hang with me at class and drive me home. We’ll see how that goes!

I had picked up a few sets at the Mama Elephant event on Sunday and decided to use the Charmed set for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

My card base today is a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I adhered a thin strip of Neenah Desert Storm down the left side. All of the elements and greeting are from the Mama Elephant Charmed Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used my Copics to color them in and they are all adhered to the card with Foam Tape. A few Pretty Pink Posh Ballerina and Sparkling Clear Sequins scattered about complete the card. SIP Challenge 18 – Sketch!

I know that I keep saying it but it was an absolutely gorgeous day here yesterday! I went into Manhattan in the late morning to see my friends Joe and Penny. Seeing as I’m always early for everything I got to sit in the middle of Broadway for a little bit and enjoy my Venti Vanilla Soy Latte from Starbucks. On my way back to Penn Station I call my friend Kim to see if she had gone to lunch already and she hadn’t so we met up and got Subway and sat in a park near her office. You have to make the most of this lovely weather because before you know it it will be gone! When I got back home I worked on some projects and then later on in the evening I went over and hung out with Heather. We ran to Target for some necessities and then I came home and watched TV for a bit before calling it a night! Here is a little picture of my view in the middle of Broadway…

Nice and quiet with not too much traffic!

A fun sketch from your’s truly! My card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The background is a piece of Recollections Black 110lb with a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum down the middle. I adhered it to the card with SNAIL. My fun clock is cut out from some more Black 110lb using the Simon Says Stamp Clock Shaker Craft Die. The bells are cut from some Silver Foil Sheet. I used the Sizzix Circles Framelits to cut out the Window Sheet, White backing and a piece of Black Fun Foam. My Happy Birthday is from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used Multi-Matte Medium to adhere all of the pieces together right after I filled it with some Pretty Pink Posh Flat Sparkling Clear and Gold Confetti Sequins. NYC Twinkle Ornament

Ahh… Sunday. I slept in a little this morning, I’m not a fan of it but you need it ever so often! Yesterday was a very fun day indeed! Sandy and I headed into Manhattan around 10:00, there was some traffic so it took us about an hour and a half to get in. I did manage to squeeze into a parking space just down the block from The Ink Pad and we stopped there first so Sandy could meet Barbara and Jane and do a little shopping. Barbara recommended that we go to Elephant and Castle (which happens to be a stop on the London Underground!) for lunch. We had a delicious brunch and it was a nice, typically tiny NYC restaurant. From there we headed over to the Mama Elephant 3rd Birthday and Holiday Release Party. I got to meet and chat with all of the nice people from Mama Elephant and they were awesome. Simon Says Stamp had sent a few people too and I got spend some time speaking to the lovely Kathy from The Daily Marker.

She showed me some fun new techniques and mentioned that she has been seeing Michael’s projects for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge on Instagram. Mama Elephant also had lots of stamp sets and dies for sale including some of their new Holiday release so I picked up a few things! They had raffles and The Ink Pad had given them a Gift Certificate so they were nice enough to let me pick the number and give it to the winner! After the event was over Sandy and I headed over to The High-Line and then took a walk through Chelsea Market before setting off for the car and heading home. What a nice way to spend a Saturday!

My card for today features one of the new stamp and die sets from the release and I LOVE it! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Basic Black. My background is a piece of Neenah Desert Storm. I stamped the branch from the Mama Elephant Twinkle Towns Photopolymer Stamp Set in Mossy Meadow for the needles and Soft Suede for the branch. The branch is filled in with a Copic. My ornament and NYC skyline is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Solar White 80lb and cut out with the coordinating die. I colored it in with Copics and then stamped the string and bow in Encore Silver Metallic before adhering the ornament to the card with Foam Tape. The greeting is from the same die set and is cut out from some Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black. I adhered them to each other a little offset and then to the card with 2-Way Glue. To give the illusion of lights I adhered a few Pretty Pink Posh Silver and Red Sequins in the branch. I LOVE that little NYC scene in the ornament, how perfect for the day yesterday! Layered Butterfly Flutter

Hi there and a good Saturday to you! Yesterday turned out to be a nice day for the most part. We had nice bright sun all day and then around 6:00 it started to rain. I did get some top down time so it’s all good. I went over to Heather and we went to Monty’s for lunch while we were there I saw Danielle’s boyfriend Derek and said hi. After lunch I came home and worked on a few projects and then stopped by my Parent’s to see Daniel for a bit. He was vacuuming with the Dust Buster and wouldn’t give it back! Around 7:00 Anthony and Bill came by and picked me up and we headed to Friday’s to meet up with Marissa for a better late than never birthday dinner for me! It was a great time and by the time I got home I was ready for bed! Today I’m off to Manhattan with my friend Sandy for the Mama Elephant Release Party downtown. That should be lot’s of fun! We are going to head in a little early and walk the High Line for a bit and have some lunch! What are you up to today?!

Today I have a simple card using a stamp set that has been sitting on my desk for a while! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Neenah Desert Storm. My background is a piece of Solar White 80lb. All of the Butterflies are from the Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped them in Simon Says Stamp Rosie Cheeks, Teeny Bikini and Hot Mama Ink, two of the large ones directly on the background and then one large and two small on a separate piece of card stock. The other three are cut out with the matching Hero Arts Color Layering Butterfly Frame Cuts along with the bodies and antennae that are stamped in Simon Says Stamp Black Ink. The background is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. I adhered all of the bodies with some Multi-Matte Medium and then adhered the three cut out butterflies to the card with Foam Tape. My greeting is from the same set and is also stamped in Black. To finish the card, a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Gold, Ballerina and Orchid Sequins are adhered with more Multi-Matte Medium around the butterflies. The layered colors in the butterflies are so neat and I do love that they have matching dies! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! Thank you, as always, for coming by! It was another beautiful day here yesterday and looks to be the same today. I stayed in for a good part of the day and worked on some projects and FaceTimed with Andrea for a while. Last night I ran over to see Heather and FaceTimed with Jules for a bit with she was on break. She works at Heathrow for their version of the TSA and was having a latte in Costa! I’ll be heading into Manhattan in a bit to work at The Ink Pad again today, so if you are in the area stop by and say hi!

I was inspired by Michael’s bright colors in his work to make my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Today’s card begins with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black. I took a piece of Solar White 80lb and used my Mini Ink Blending Tool with some Twisted Citron, Hickory Smoke and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink to create the background. My greeting is from an old Paper Pumpkin Kit and is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. The background is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The cool skull is from the Simon Says Stamp Sugar Skulls Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut out with the Coordinating Die. I used my Copics to color him in and then added some Stardust Stickles on some areas for a little sparkle. He’s adhered to the card with Foam Tape. Finally, a few Pretty Pink Posh Charcoal and Essentials By Ellen Iridescent Grey Sequins are scattered around and complete the card. A really bright card for me but I do love that Sugar Skull!
