Freshly Made Sketches #58

Woo hoo! Hey everyone… it’s FRIDAY! I’m always so much happier on Friday! It’s time to get ready for the weekend. I’m off to the Manhattan tomorrow to see my friend Kim, it has been way too long since I saw her last. I’m looking forward to some diner breakfast and it’s supposed to be a nice day too!

Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. I want to thank Linda for choosing me as her Perfect Prince for last week’s card. You can see the original post here and view the Freshly Made Sketches winners here. This week we have a first time sketch from Narelle…

Wow! What a great sketch! You did really well Narelle! This was one of those ones where as soon as I saw it I knew what I was going to use, I love when that happens! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I inked up my Woodgrain Background stamp with some Sahara Sand and stamped it on Sahara Sand Card Stock. I really like the tone on tone look especially with the Woodgrain Stamp. The panel of patterned paper is from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. I backed it with some Cherry Cobbler and mounted it to the card with SNAIL. The greeting and the image are both from the Winter Memories Stamp Set. The are both stamped on Very Vanilla, the greeting in Cherry Cobbler and the image in Basic Black. I flagged the ends of the greeting and used a small piece of paper from the Festival of Prints DSP Stack above it. The image is colored in with Basic Gray, Basic Black, Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Markers. I cut it out with my Paper Snips and mounted it with Stampin’ Dimensionals to a piece of Sahara Sand that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and embossed with the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It is mounted to a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I cut out with the Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it to the card. For the final touch I added some Basic Jewels Pearls in the upper right hand corner. I think this is one of my recent favorites for sure! Crumb Artichoke Furry Folk 2 x 2 Set

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s supposed to be sunny and a little chilly today. I’ll be in Manhattan this morning and then off to look after my friends dogs later on. I’m going to try and squeeze in some Stampin’ too! Today’s project features three items from the retired list, all of which I will be sad to see go. The Bitty Box and Envelope Bigz XL Die, Circle Scissor Plus and especially the Furry Folk Stamp Set seeing as I just got it! The box and card bases are Crumb Cake Card Stock. The cards are cut to 2″ x 4″ and then scored in half and folded. The box is cut out with the Bitty Box and Envelope Bigz XL Die (Retired List). The images on the top of the box and the background for all the teeny cards is stamped with the Woodgrain Background Wood Mount Stamp in Crumb Cake. The images on the top of the box are from the Furry Folk Stamp Set (Retired List) and are stamped in Soft Suede and Always Artichoke. I mounted them with Stampin’ Dimensionals on a piece of Always Artichoke that I ran through my Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The images on all of the cards, also from Furry Folk(Retired List) are stamped in Soft Suede too. Some of them are punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch and mounted on Always Artichoke punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The two larger images are punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch and mounted to Always Artichoke that was cut to 1 5/8″ using the Circle Scissor Plus (Retired List). The greetings are form the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and are stamped in Always Artichoke and punched out using the Word Window Punch. I put them back in the punch to size them to length that I needed. For a finishing touch on all of the pieces I stamped the butterfly image in Bravo Burgundy and punched them out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and adhered them with Mini Glue Dots. I love these little cards and they would be great as gift tags or to put a little note in anything. I hope that you got some inspiration and that you have a wonderful Saturday!

Hello everyone! I hope that you all had a nice Monday. The weather here on Long Island was beautiful yesterday. It was just warm enough, in the upper 70’s. I love the warmer weather! Today’s card is my Mojo Monday card for this week. Mary Fish did the sketch this week and I really like it…

I guess I was inspired by the warm weather to do a nice bright card. I started with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. Across the top of the card I used a piece of the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper (Pre-Order). The paper actually inspired the flowers across the middle of the card. They are all punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle punch for the outside and the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack circle for the middle ones. The colors are Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade. The are mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals on a frame of Whisper White and Real Red. The leaves are created with the 5 teal Flower Punch, all you do is cut two petals off and you have some leaves! The bottom half of the card is Island Indigo. I stamped the greeting in Real Red from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set. It has become one of my go-to sets because you can make all different combinations the from the words. The flagged ends are made using the 1″ Square Punch and it too is mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I am loving the card and hope that you like it too and are inspired to make something bright and cheerful! Thanks so much for coming by and enjoy your day!

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday! I’m very happy today because I’m going to pick my parents up from the airport. They have been in London visiting my mom’s family. I was bummed that I didn’t get to go but I’ll be glad to have them back, I’ve missed them! Today I’m posting my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card. This weeks sketch is…

I wanted to do a happy spring card and what better to use than the new Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper (Pre-Order). It has one of my favorite colors in it, Island Indigo and that’s what I used for my card base. I took a piece of Whisper White and adhered three different coordinating patterns of the Summer Smooches DSP to it. Then I took a piece of Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon and wrapped that around the front. I used the trusty fork method to tie my bow and adhered it with a Mini Glue Dot. The image is form the Bright Blossoms Stamp Set (Pre-Order) and is stamped in Island Indigo. I used the 1/2″ Circle Punch to punch out a piece of Island Indigo Card Stock and I tied a piece of Island Indigo Bakers Twine through one of the Brights Collection Buttons and adhered that with a Mini Glue Dot. The greeting is from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set and too is stamped in Island Indigo. I used the 2 3/8″ Scalloped Circle Punch to punch out some Daffodil Delight to mount the stamped image on. I can’t help but smile when I look at the card. It’s nice, simple and happy. Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Good morning peeps! I hope that you are having a nice week so far. Today is my daughter Taylor’s 16th birthday! I am a very lucky dad to have such a wonderful child! Happy Birthday Taylor. I’ll be posting her card tomorrow, sometimes she actually stops texting to read my blog! Today’s card is for this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. They have given us this sketch to work with…

I really do love making my Mojo card each week. For this weeks card I decided to use the new Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper and the Bright Blossoms Stamp Set. I started with a base of Tangerine Tango and I added a piece os the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper. I took my Scallop Edge Border Punch and punched one side of a piece of Tempting Turquoise. The layer over that is a piece of Rich Razzleberry that I ran through my trusty Big Shot with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Another piece of Tempting Turquoise and Designer Series paper is cut out with the Circle Scissor Plus and mounted on some Stampin’ Dimensionals. I markered two images from the Bright Blossoms Stamp Sets in Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade and Real Red and punched it out with the Extra Large Oval Punch and put some Stampin’ Dimensionals under that too. I hand cut the flagged piece of Daffodil Delight and another piece of Designer Series paper and that too has some Stampin’ DImensionals. The greeting is from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry. For the finishing touch I cut a sliver of Whisper white and threaded it through the Brights Designer Series button and glued that on with some Mini Glue Dots. I love the bright cheery colors and the great variety of Designer Series Paper that comes with the Summer Smooches Collection. Thank you so much for dropping by and enjoy your day! 🙂

Bright Happiness

Good morning all, are we ready for another week? I hope that everyone had a good weekend. For today’s card I used some of the new items that are available for pre-order from the 2012-2013 Idea Book & Catalog. They call it the Summer Smooches Collection and it’s really neat. The card is a 3 x 3 note card which is great for attaching to a gift or tucking inside a little package. The base of the card is Whisper White. I added a piece of Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper for my background. I stamped two images from the Bright Blossoms Stamp Set, one in Real Red and the other in Lucky Limeade, and punched them out the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. It’s backed with a piece of Real Red punched out with the 1 3/4″ Scalloped Circle Punch. The greeting is from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set and is also stamped in Real Red and punched out with the Word Window Punch. I backed it with some more Real Red punched out with the Modern Label Punch. The tiny flowers are punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and the white circles were punched out with the Cupcake Builder Punch. I adhered them with some Mini Glue Dots and the other two are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the color combination, so bright and spring like. Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope your Monday was a good one, mine was ok. For today’s card I give you this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge…

I decided that I would use some of the Sale-A-Bration items before they are gone. The base of my card is Lucky Limeade. I added three strips of Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration) for my background. The stamps are from the Fresh Vintage Stamp Set (Sale-A-Bration) and are stamped in Poppy Parade and Peach Parfait for the center images and the stamp image is stamped in Lucky Limeade. I backed the center image with Pool Party and the stamp image is punched out with the 1 1/4″ Square Punch and backed by a piece of Peach Parfait that punched out with the 1 3/8″ Square Punch. I adhered the center image with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the set Fabulous Phrases and is stamped in Lucky Limeade and mounted on some Poppy Parade. For the finishing touch I placed 3 Basic Jewels Rhinestones on the three outside stamped flower images. I love the Mojo Challenge and hope you like the card. In-Color Flower Burst Thanks

Happy Sunday peeps! I’m off to the city today to go and see Rent with my daughter and my wonderful friend Kim. It is supposed to rain all day but I still love a day in the city. For today’s card I used, in my opinion, a somewhat underused product… the Flower Burst Embosslit. The base of the card is Wisteria Wonder. The background is created with the Big Shot and the Texturz Plates 1 Backgrounds using some Pool Party. I stamped the greeting from Outlined Occasions (Sale-A-Bration) in Calypso Coral and used my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the stars. It’s mounted on a piece of Wisteria Wonder and adhered to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Flower Burst Embosslit to cut out some Wisteria Wonder and Calypso Coral Card Stock and they are also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Enchanted Label Fancy Fold

Good morning and happy Saturday! It’s the weekend so that means I get to spend some quality time with my stamps today! I have a bunch of cards to make and I’m looking forward to a nice creative afternoon. For today’s card I was looking around on Stampin’ Connection, one of the perks of being a Demonstrator, and I came across this tutorial for using the Framelits Labels Dies (Occasions Mini) in a new way. A Demonstrator by the name of Cristy Butzen posted the card. I changed the mechanics of the card a little to make it open a little differently. The base of the card is an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Lucky Limeade Card Stock. I scored it at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″ with my Simply Scored. Using my Big Shot I put the card stock on the cutting plate and lined the Labels Collection Framelit on the center 2 1/8″ score line. Then I slid the other cutting plate into the Big Shot and lined the edge of it up with the 2 1/8″ score line and ran it through. Doing this only cuts out the piece that is under the cutting plate. It is then folded along the score lines and ready to embellish. I used Pool Party cut out with the same size label die and a piece of Very Vanilla cut out with one size smaller. I stamped the tea cup in Calypso Coral and markered the pansy in Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade from the Tea Shoppe Stamp Set (Occasions Mini). The greeting is from the Curly Cute Stamp Set and is also stamped in Calypso Coral. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line everything up. A piece of Calypso Coral Card Stock was punched along one side with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. To that I added two lengths of Calypso Coral 1/8″ Organdy Ribbon from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon and Brad Pack (Sale-A-Bration). The stamped piece was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Inside I used some of the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration) and another Label cut out in Very Vanilla. I love the mechanics of the card and it makes for a nice change from the traditional. Thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to stop and have a look. Have a great Saturday!

Happy FRIDAY everyone! We are almost to the weekend! My friend Kim and I are taking my daughter to see Rent this Sunday. It’s my daughter’s favorite movie and I have never seen the play so it should be a good time! For today’s card I used my Parlor Prints Background Stamp again. The base of the card is Very Vanilla. I stamped a piece of Pool Party with Soft Suede Ink for my own Designer Series Paper. For the greeting I stamped an image from the Creative Elements Stamp Set in Soft Suede and cut it out with my Paper Snips. I punched a piece of Peach Parfait with the 1 3/4″ Scalloped Circle Punch. I then stamped a piece of Very Vanilla with another image from Creative Elements in Peach Parfait and then stamped the greeting in Soft Suede from the Elementary Elegance (Sale-A-Bration) Stamp Set and punched it out with the Curly Label Punch. The flower is from the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set (Occasions Mini) and is Soft Suede stamped on Peach Parfait then punched out with the Blossom Punch. I punched out some Very Vanilla with the 2 3/8″ Scalloped Circle Punch to put behind it and attached them together with a brad form the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon and Brad Pack (Sale-A-Bration). The greeting and the Flower are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the vintage feel but slightly modern edge to the card. Thank you so much for stopping by today and have a great FRIDAY!
