Pals Paper Arts 215 & Paper Players 209

Hello my friends and welcome to the start of another week. I had a nice weekend but not a very productive one. I was having a hard time focusing on one thing, a little ADD I guess. I will have to seriously concentrate tonight and tomorrow night to get all my stuff done. Happens sometimes, what can ya do?! It was a lovely day here yesterday, the weather has been particularly lovely lately. I wish it would stay like this all year round. I spent some time with Heather and we ran some errands and baked a banana bread that was delicious! She is an excellent baker and makes it look so easy. I make some good chocolate chip cookies but that’s about it! LOL! I also got my label printer, it was on sale for $39 at Staples, let’s see if that makes me send out more cards or just print more labels! LOL!

I have a double post today but just one card, I rarely combine challenges but I was inspired by the colors for the Pals Paper Arts challenge and thought they worked well for the Paper Players too! Here are the two challenges…

The colors for the Pals Paper Arts has a little bit of a retro vibe and the Paper Players is just fun. My card starts off with a base of Pear Pizzaz Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Strawberry Slush and stamped the Dotty Angles Stamp in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the right side. My tag is a piece of Basic Black, I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder to make it. A piece of Basic Black Baker’s Twine is tied to the top. The cupcake and greeting are from the Cupcake Party Stamp Set. My cupcake is stamped in Pear Pizzaz and Strawberry Slush, the candle is markered with Pear Pizzaz and So Saffron Stampin’ Write Markers. I used the Cupcake Builder Punch to punch them all out and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the tag. The greeting is heat embossed in more White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the tag is adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins are randomly placed and some Crystal Effects keeps the ends of the baker’s twine in place. I love the black tag and how it makes all of the elements pop! There is my one card for two challenges, the Pals Paper Arts colts and the Paper Players theme. I hope that you enjoyed it and I thank you very much for your visit today. Creation Station Tour – Kinda Eclectic

Hello everyone! I had a very crafty day yesterday and the weather here was just perfect, cool but sunny! Today it’s time for the Creation Station Blog Tour! I’m hoping that you have been along for our previous ones! If this is your first time here welcome and I hope that you find inspiration in the projects. This time around we are featuring the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set. If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Jennifer Downey’s blog, pretty awesome projects huh?! I have three projects for you today. I took some pictures of them so you could follow along!

The first project that I have for you today is a relatively quick but really cute tiny gift box. We have new Tiny Treat Boxes in the upcoming Holiday Catalog and they come 25 to a pack, they are about 2″ square. I used the featured stamp set Kinda Eclectic to stamp the dots around the top on the sides in Night of Navy. Along the bottom is some Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper that I tore (I have a difficult time doing that! LOL!) and adhered with some Fast Fuze Adhesive.

I adhered two of the butterflies stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch on opposite sides. On top is a piece of burlap that I had from long ago, I cut it out with the “Vintage” Circles #2 Bigz Die and frayed the edges. Two of the leaves are stamped in Always Artichoke and cut out with my Paper Snips. On top of that is a flower from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set stamped in Lost Lagoon and cut out with my Paper Snips too. I adhered the burlap with Sticky Strip, the leaves with Glue Dots and the flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In the middle is one of the new Gold Basic Metallic Buttons threaded with some Linen Thread and adhered to the middle of the flower with a Glue Dot. A fun little box that would be perfect for a little piece of candy or maybe some bling!

Next up is one of our Kraft Grid Journals that I decorated with some fun stuff! I saw a flower in this month’s Stampin’ Success (our Demonstrator Magazine) and had to make one! The flower is made by coating one side of the 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon with Mod-Podge and letting it dry completely. When it’s dry you use one of the Circles Collection Framelits to cut them out. I found that they didn’t cut all the way through but my Paper Snips finished the job. I love the way they stay nice and crisp along the edges thanks to the Mod-Podge!.

I put a slit halfway up the ones that go around and the hot glued them all together. In the middle I took a Vintage Faceted Button and tied some Linen Thread in a bow and adhered the smallest of the Gold Basic Metallic Buttons in the center with a Glue Dot.

The leaves are cut from the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Flower Fair Framelits.

My three butterflies are form the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangelo Twist, the large ones are punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and the smaller one with Bitty Butterfly Punch. I used the new Handheld Stapler to make the bodies and then adhered them to the journal with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My notes stamp is from a Paper Pumpkin Kit and is stamped in Mossy Meadow.

I love that flower, it’s a fun different embellishment and I think the journal will go in a shadow box and make a nice home decor piece for someone special!

Lastly I have a quick card. The base of it is Kraft Card Stock and the background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss. I heat embossed the greeting from Kinda Eclectic in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then adhered the background to the base with Fast Fuze, it was a little warped after the heat embossing and I wanted to make sure that it would stay flat! The sunburst and the leaves are from the same set, the leaves are stamped in Always Artichoke and the sunburst in Crushed Curry. I cut them both out with my Paper Snips. In the middle of the sunburst is a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The sunburst is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the leaves with Multi-Purpose Glue. My little gold sequins are made using a die from My Favorite Things Die-namics and Gold Foil Sheet, I saw the die and just couldn’t resist, I can make sequins from any card stock now! I love the bold background with the fussy cut sun, makes it stand out nicely!

Fab Friday 48

T G I F!! T G I F!! T G I F!! Can you tell that I’m excited that it’s Friday?!?! I’m not going to lie, I’m over work this week, too many things that shouldn’t be given to me to do are given to me. I have a few errands to run today, like the Apple Store so that will make the day much better! It was a gorgeous day here yesterday in the high 70’s and a slight breeze with plenty of sun! It sure doesn’t feel like August and I hope that this doesn’t mean that there will be another bad winter! But I’m really enjoying it at the moment! Tonight I have some crafty things to do and at some point over the weekend I would like to get the Stampin’ Galley a little more organized! We’ll see how that goes! LOL! What do they say about the best laid plans?! What’s on for the weekend for you people?!

Today is a very special Friday not just because it a Fab Friday but it’s a special Fab Friday! Mindy had her little baby boy Ian!! We decided to surprise her with a little change of plans! We all made baby card this time! Congratulations Mindy and Jon!! He’s adorable!!

I went with a nice simple card that would be easy to duplicate, I actually know quite a few people that have had babies lately. Little Daniel turned nine months old yesterday and is crawling and sitting up already! They do grow up so fast! My card begins with a base of Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. The background is a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper, I punched the left side with the Scallop Edge Border Punch and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. My large flag is a piece of Hello Honey and I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the circle in the middle. Across the top is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I trimmed with the Small Scallop Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade and adhered it to the flag with Multi-Purpose Glue. Before adhering it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I stamped my sentiment from the Dear Heart Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. The sweet onesie is from the Something for Baby Stamp Set and is stamped in Pistachio Pudding and cut out with the Baby’s First Framelits. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place too. Like I said simple but I love the layout and the colors! I really hope that Mindy and you both enjoyed the card and that Mindy was surprised! Paper Craft Crew 105 & Bonus!

Ahh yes… another fun filled day here on Long Island! Work was just the way I imagined it, nuts! Last minute event planning is always my favorite! NOT! It wasn’t a bad day weather wise, overcast and a bit windy but it didn’t rain until late last night and boy did it rain! I ran out to do a few errands and guess what I saw…

A perfect little rainbow! Well, if I could crop out the power lines and the building it would be perfect! LOL! So neat though! That brightened up my evening a bit! Before I get started with today’s post, Andrew stopped by and has a quick word for you all…

 

Hi there JK Cards readers! I was over at Justin’s house last night and he was telling me about how he hit his knee again. Of course, he then told me how you were all concerned about him and were badgering him to get to a doctor. I gave him two choices:

1) He can continue to not go to the doctor. If he does this and ends up hurting his knee further, I told him I will visit him in the hospital with chocolates, flowers, and balloons. Right after I give him all his sentiments, I’ll look him in the eyes and say, “I told you so!” (Don’t worry, I’ll mention that you all told him as well. LOL!)

2) If by the next time I come over he hasn’t gone to the doctor, I’m gonna slip a fun little pill into a cup of his coffee, throw him over my shoulder, carry him to the car, take him to the doctor for an evaluation, and get him back home before he’ll even remember what happened!

I stayed very true to the sketch and my inspiration was the cover of the annual catalog! The base of the card is Pistachio Pudding Card Stock. My background is a piece of Whisper White and I punched the bottom edge with the Confetti Stars Border Punch*. A strip of Maritime Designer Series Paper comes across from the left. The panel in the middle is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that I embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. My two stars are cut out with the Stars Framelits. The back one is a piece of Vellum Card Stock that I bordered with a piece of Pistachio Pudding, the one in front is a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. They are both adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Pistachio Pudding, I flagged the end and tucked it under the top star. Over in the upper right corner are three star sequins from the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequin Assortment. They each have a Basic Jewel Rhinestone in the middle. I love the soft colors and abundance of star goodness on the card and hope that you do too! And there you have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Hodgepodge Spiral Star Line

I was in the car a lot longer that I had hoped to be yesterday thanks to the George Washington Bridge and the Throgs Neck Bridge! Doesn’t everyone realize that If they just merged they would all get through?! Having the top down in the car did make it more bearable, it was a beautiful day yesterday. The service for my Grandmother was lovely. The Priest that delivered it has lived next door to my Grandmother for 30 years and remembers me as a little one as he said. He spoke of her laugh that was infectious and her stubbornness and that made us laugh. I got to see people that I haven’t seen in a very long time including my Dad’s cousin Lisa. I always liked Lisa and remembered her from a few family functions from years ago. It was great to get to catch up with her and I now have her email and mobile so I can keep in touch. When we went back to the house I took a few things that reminded me of my Grandmother. When I was little I used to sit and stare at the nicknacks that she had. There were a few that fascinated me for some reason. There is a picture of a some of them below. I used to play with this set in particular. I was allowed to as long as it was only on the table and I was careful as I always was. Now every time I look at them I will be reminded of my wonderful Grandmother and smile.

Today I have a just because card that I made a little while ago just for fun! I’m sure that I will find someone to give it to in the future. The card begins with a base of Crumb Cake Card Stock. I took a piece of Whisper White and used the Draw the Line Photopolymer Stamp Set with Pool Party and Real Red ink to crete a piece of notebook paper. The Spiral Border Punch down the left side enhances it’s authenticity! LOL! I used one the stars form the Basic Hodgepodge Clips to attach a piece of Tangelo Twist behind it and “casually” adhered it to the base. Some Gold Foil Sheet is cut out with the Stars Framelits and punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. I adhered the large star to the notebook paper with Multi-Purpose Glue. My greeting is from the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangelo Twist. I heat embossed the small stars form the Be the Star Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut it out with the Ovals Collection Framelits. The Tangelo Twist Stampin’ Write Marker is used to edge the oval and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it and the punched star to the card. I had a few small gold star sequins so I added them to complete the card. A fun card that would work for a number of occasions! I hope that you like the card for today and thank you once again for all of you lovely comments yesterday. They made me smile even more knowing I was in your thoughts. Have a lovely Sunday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 148

Yesterday was a sad day for me. My grandmother passed away. She was an amazing person and lived good long life. She was 96 years old. I remember all of the good times that I had with her. I remember going there every summer for two weeks with my brother. Getting up at 6:00am to take my grandfather to work and watching the sunrise over the mountain. She made the most amazing pies and cakes, was an excellent cook too. Her specialty was shoo-fly pie and no one has been able to duplicate her recipe even though many of us have tried. We would go to Knoebels Grove, an amusement park in Elysburg, PA all the time. It’s an old fashioned park with rides and all of the sounds and smells that should be at an amusement park. She would go on all of the rides with us and split a funnel cake, her favorite. I remember Teaberry ice cream, still one of my favorites. She loved flowers and always had hundreds of them planted in the summer. I remember the smell of the lilac trees at the end of the driveway and her Rose Milk lotion. I’m glad that I got to spend the time with her that I did, she helped me become the person that I am today and for that I am grateful. She will be missed but remembered fondly.

When I sat down to make my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge I could only think of stars and happiness because that’s what I felt when I thought of her. Here is this week’s sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches #148

The base of my card is Lost Lagoon Card Stock. I used a piece of Silver Foil Sheet that I embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. It is adhered to the card base off to the left. My center panel is a shaker frame and is made from Basic Black. I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut out the middle of the front panel and adhered a piece of Window Sheet with Multi-Purpose Glue to the back. Some foam tape makes up the sides and I filled it with stars that I punched out from a piece of Brushed Silver Card Stock with the Confetti Stars Border Punch*. My greeting is from the Holiday Invitation Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Lost Lagoon. Up in the right corner is another piece of Silver Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Stars Framelits and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally some Frosted Sequins* are randomly adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue down the right side. A fun card that celebrates the life of a wonderful grandmother. Paper Craft Crew 104

Hello my friends! How are you on our halfway point in the week?! I’m doing ok. Work was nutty again and to make it the perfect day I smashed my knee on the wooden are of a chair and it hurt so much I almost passed out! LOL! Not good, my knee is now twice it’s normal size. FUN! I’m sure that it will be worse by the end of today, sorry to whine but it really hurt! I got to see my brother, sister-in-law and little Daniel for dinner. He really is just the cutest little guy! His little smile made me forget all about my knee! Here is a little selfie of us…

I went for nice and clean with fun colors! The base of my card is Soft Sky Card Stock and I stamped one of the stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Tangerine Tango twice on it. My fun hexagons are Tangerine Tango and are cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits. I Adhered them to a piece of Vellum Card Stock and then trimmed off the excess before adhering them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. The banners are Tangerine Tango and are punched out with the Banner Punch. Both the greeting and the banners are also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the Tangerine Tango and the Soft Sky together with the pop of Early Espresso. I also like the way the hexagons float thanks to the Vellum! That’s my deign team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge, I hope that you enjoyed it! Mojo 357 & More Pics!

I’m sad to report that yesterday was a typical Monday, busy, busy, busy! Work was treat! LOL! NOT! I came home and made some dinner for Taylor and I, rice and black beans with tomatoes, black olives, avocado and banana peppers. I put some Sriracha on mine too, yummy and simple! I needed to get into the Stampin’ Galley, I didn’t spend enough time in there over the weekend and I notice that I am little cranky when I don’t get enough creative time. I made four cards and felt much better after that! How was your Monday?!

Here are some more of the Manhattan pictures from Sunday. We went to a park by my friend Kim’s house called Carl Schurz Park. It’s where Gracie Mansion is. The park is long and narrow but it’s right on the East River and I got some good pictures of that!

Now on to today’s post. One of the cards that I made last night is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Do you think of playing cards when you see the sketch?! I did! We don’t have any playing card related stamps though so I went in a completely different direction. My card begins with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock, my new favorite neutral! The background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss with a piece of Hello Honey that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The card on the left is a piece of paper from the Moonlight DSP Stack. On the right is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped my greeting from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set, stamped in Blackberry Bliss. I rounded the corners on both the DSP and greeting with the Project Life Corner Rounder and adhered them to the background. A strip of So Saffron that I stamped with the Draw the Line Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hello Honey goes across the middle. My flag is a piece of Perfect Plum. I made another one of the epoxy embellishments using the face from the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Hello Honey. I really love those epoxy embellishments, so easy and fun! Creation Station Tour – Amazing Birthday

Hello everyone! I had a very nice day in Manhattan yesterday! I will have some fun pictures for you tomorrow, but today it’s time for the Creation Station Blog Tour! I’m hoping that you have been along for our previous ones! I missed the last one, I was at Convention. I f this is your first time here welcome and I hope that you find inspiration in the projects. This time around we are featuring the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set and the Tag-A-Bag products. If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Deborah Smart’s blog, she always has such cool stuff! I have three projects for you today. I took some pictures of the first project because it contains a new item and a fun new technique!

First up I have a simple gift card holder made with the new Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits Die that will be available for purchase on August 28th from the 2014 Holiday Catalog. I used the die to cut out a piece of Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper.

The die is great because it cuts and scores the paper for you, all you have to do is fold, adhere and embellish!

I added the circles and 1/8″ Mini Brads so I would be able to tie on my tag. Speaking of the tag it’s actually a “Vintage” one from the Stamp a Tag Kit. I used the greeting from the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set and marketed it in Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry.

A piece of White Baker’s Twine is wrapped around the brads and holds the tag to the gift card holder. A quick and fun way to give someone a little something for their birthday!

Next up I have a note card. I saw this fun technique to make epoxy embellishments the other day so I thought I would give it a try! The card begins with one of the cards from the Note Cards & Envelopes. I embossed a piece of Tempting Turquoise with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for my background. For the banner I cut out a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with the Banners Framelits. A piece of Real Red is cut out with the Starburst Framelits and adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Next up is my epoxy embellishment. I punched out a piece of Window Sheet with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch and spread some Crystal Effect over the top.

The neat thing is that as long as you don’t put too much Crystal Effects on it stops at the edge of the Window Sheet. You need to set them aside for at least 24 hours to make sure that they are completely dry. I stamped the cake from the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight and ran it through my Zyron Sticker Maker face down and adhered it to the back of the Window Sheet. Some Fast Fuse makes sure that it will stay in place. Another piece of Real Red is cut out with the Little Letters Thinlits and adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals pieces. My greeting is from the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set and is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. I loved making the epoxy embellishments, they are so much fun and it’s great to be able to customize them to whatever you need!

My last project is a simple tag. I stamped the greeting from the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set in Tempting Turquoise and punched the tag with the Angled Tag Topper Punch. Another one of the epoxy embellishments is adhered to the bottom and a Mini Clothes Pin holds it to one if the Chevron Tag a Bag Gift Bags. I always need something quick to make to put on a gift and this definitely fits the bill! I made some extra epoxy embellishments and now can just stamp and adhere what I need to the back of them!

Mojo 356

Hello my peeps! It’s Thursday and that means just one more day to go! I have had a pretty good week so far let’s hope that it continues! I will be heading into Manhattan on Saturday, my friend Kim’s brother and sister will be in town! I’m looking forward to that! It’s been too long since I’ve been in the city. Yesterday was another beautiful day. It was in the upper 70’s with a slight breeze and plenty of sun! This is shaping up to be a great summer! I hope that the weather by you has been equally as nice! I came home last night and did some more organizing in the Stampin’ Galley and then had some quality crafty time! Always my favorite way to end the day!

The card I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and guess what?! It’s another tall and skinny!

I do love the tall and skinny cards! I need to start making some even when there is no sketch! LOL! My card today starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love the feel and look of the paper, it really is just like old book paper. I flagged a strip of Gold Foil Sheet and a piece of Lost Lagoon to go down the left side. My circle is a piece of Vellum Card Stock and a frame of Basic Black that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I do love a little vellum don’t I?! Next up is a strip of Gold Foil Sheet that I embossed with the “Vintage” Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, still one of my favorites! The greeting is from the Label Love Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Lost Lagoon. I punched it out with the Artisan Label Punch and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The star is a piece of Lost Lagoon that I cut out with the Stars Framelits and I adhered a Basic Hodgepodge Clip with some Multi-Purpose Glue on top. Another Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place. I love the Lost Lagoon with the Basic Black and Gold and the Typeset DSP is just great! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.
