SUO Challenges 90

Well folks, we made it through another Monday! Woo-hoo!! Not much to report today, it was a pretty average day at the office. Oh, but someone in Mexico City had some Starbucks, on me! Apparently I was part of the Target Identity Fraud debacle. Here’s my question, how can I be in New York buying something at 8:30 and then in Mexico City buying something at 11:15? Unless I’m hanging out with Scotty and Spock, I don’t think that’s possible! Anyway, a new card is on the way and hopefully all of that will be over and done with by tomorrow. How was your day, anyone buy anything on you in another country? LOL!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog, this time around we have a fun, Punch Parade challenge for you. I decided I would step outside of my comfort zone and put a big bow on my card today. I’m not a much of a bow guy, but it does kind of look neat. The card base is Basic Black Card Stock. The top half of my background is a piece of Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper and the bottom is a piece of Sahara Sand that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A strip of Summer Starfruit separates the two. I created my tag using the Angled Tag Topper Punch and some Basic Black. My bow was made using the Envelope Punch Board. There are some really great YouTube videos showing you tutorials on how to do it. It was pretty easy and actually kind of fun! Mine is made from some more Sweet Sorbet DSP and I used Sticky Strip to adhere it all together. The flowers are from the Petite Petals Stamp Set, are stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. Three Basic Jewels Pearls are adhered in the center of each flower. My greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set, stamped in Basic Black and cut out with one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies. All of the elements are adhered to the tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I’ve said it before, I really like the colors in the Sweet Sorbet DSP and the tag made from Basic Black is a nice change of pace! Pals Paper Arts 190

A very good Saturday to you! Yesterday at work we had the Longevity Awards at the Hilton. The best thing about them… breakfast! I had some eggs, bacon, sausage and French toast! I told you that I tend to eat way too much towards the end of the week! This morning I’m off to Manhattan to see my friend Jim and then I’ll meet Kim for some lunch. We are supposed to get more snow Sunday night into Monday, but not the 30 inches that they had originally called for! Whew! Thank heavens for that! What kinds of things are you up to today?!

My post for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This week we have a nice color combination…

I saw the colors and immediately thought of a Valentine, but I needed something a little different and this is what I came up with. My card starts off with a base of Blushing Bride Card Stock. A strip of Silver Foil Sheet goes along the bottom. I stamped a piece of Rose Red with the World Map Stamp in Rose Red and adhered it on an angle. My tag is Basic Gray and I used the Angle Tag Topper Punch to make it and flagged the bottom for a little bit of a different look. The stamped images are form the Love You More Stamp Set, the globe is stamped in Basic Gray and cut out with my Paper Snips and the greeting in Rose Red and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Two arrows from the Label Card Thinlits Dies are cut out from Blushing Bride and Rose red and adhered to the globe. I doubled a piece of White Bakers Twine for the top of the tag and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few scattered Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish it off. My obsession with tags continues but I think the flagged bottom mixes it up a little! LOL I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Catherine and Cathy Create 23

Happy Friday peeps! No adverse weather to report from yesterday, just really cold but that’s nothing compared to what we have had lately! Work was ok yesterday, I got to run out for a bit to pick up some stuff. After work I met my friend Heather for some dinner. She is going skiing for the first time this weekend and she said we should have dinner in case she didn’t make it back! We went to Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza and it was delicious as usual. We had a traditional thin crust pizza with calamata olives and Poscuitto, Yum! Today at work we have the Longevity Awards at the Hilton so breakfast will be good! I have this issue where I tend to eat too much towards the end of the week! LOL!

Today I’m over on the Catherine and Cathy Create blog for this month’s cards challenge. This time we have a fun theme… Gold-i-licious! I’m loving the gold on cards lately so I had some fun! My card is based on the Mojo sketch for this week, I really liked it so I thought I would give it another go! The card base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I used a piece of Brushed Gold for my background and a piece of I Am Me Designer Series Paper for my banner which I backed with some Whisper White for stability. Some Gold Sequin Trim goes around the top and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. My piece of Basic Gray is embossed with the “Vintage” Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The greeting is from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. For the hearts I used some Gold Foil Sheet and Champagne Glimmer Paper and the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut them out. My arrow is one of the elements form the Label Card Thinlits Dies. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I personally think that this card would make a great masculine Valentine, even with all of the gold! Freshly Made Sketches 122

Wow! Thursday already! Pretty good speed for this week. The weather you ask… it snowed in the morning and then rained yesterday making the snow nice and heavy and the roads a slushy mess. Last night it went down to 19 degrees so it all froze. Winter is just not very nice this year! I came home last night and crafted for a bit, picked up Andrew from a cappella practice and dropped him at home. He is not feeling well again and has a concert on Friday. Hopefully his cough will be under control by then. It’s miserable being sick as you know but when you sing it’s worse. How is everything in your neck of the woods?

My inspiration for today’s post comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The sketch this week is provided by Cindy…

I had some fun using a bunch of different elements for this card. The base is Soft Suede Card Stock and the background is a piece of Bermuda Bay That I rounded the top corners of. The strip of paper across the lower half is from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. My heart is a piece of Real Red that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch on a piece of Whisper White and one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies on the bottom to cut out the “xoxo”. My greeting is from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. Three little banners from the Love You More Stamp Set, stamped in Bermuda Bay and punched out with the Banner Punch go across the top of the tag and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love the negative “xoxo”, it looks neat with the Designer Series Paper showing through and I really can’t get enough of the red and blue together! I know you must be sick of hearing about the nasty winter that we are having here and I can tell you that I can’t wait to start talking about driving around with the top down in the car again!! It being Wednesday and all means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This week we have the following for you…

I do love some flags! I think I was really wanting spring when I made this card, the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog has a nice spring feel to it! My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Sahara Sand. A strip of Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper goes across the middle and also is used for one of the flags. My other flag is a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (also from Sale-A-Bration!) For my greeting is used the See Ya Later Stamp Set (yup, Sale-A-Bration!) stamped in Pool Party and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The owl Builder Punch is used to punch out the heart from some Crisp Cantaloupe, perfect fit for the stamp! My three flowers are stamped in Summer Starfruit and are from the Best of Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set, they go perfectly with the DSP! Finally, two Subtles Candy Dots complete the card. I really do love the colors in the Sweet Sorbet DSP and I thought that it was really cool the way the tower goes so well with it! Paper Players 181

So, the Superbowl was great huh?! Ok, I’ll admit the only thing that I watched was the half-time show. I thought that it was a pretty good show, Bruno Mars sounds good live and appearance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was neat if not a bit odd. There was plenty of food and friends to keep me occupied. My friend Michelle brought over fresh strawberries with caramel, chocolate ganachè, peanut butter and cream cheese dip for them. They were delicious and I had a hard time picking a favorite, so I sampled them a few times! LOL! I also had a nice day in Manhattan, I visited some people in the morning and then met my friend Kim for some lunch. We ate fresh, I had my usual BMT, I haven’t had it in a long time and it was yummy! I then stopped by my friend Julia’s house and her little girl Cecily gave me a card that she made for me. It’s so cute! I think we have a future crafter on our hands!

I even got some pictures for you. I was walking down the famous Park Avenue and snapped these. The first one is facing downtown and the second one is facing uptown.

My post today is for this week’s Paper Players, but before I get to that I wanted to thank LeAnne for choosing my card for her Cut Above in last week’s challenge. You can see my original post HERE and the Paper Players winners post HERE. Now for this week the lovely Anne Marie has given us this theme challenge…

As I was siting there pondering what I was going to do I spied a Vintage set of Framelits and that’s where the idea for this card began. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Coastal Cabana from the Countless Sayings 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. On the bottom part I embossed a piece of Baked Brown Sugar with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My lollipops are form the Sweets for the Sweet Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used bamboo skewers for the sticks and adhered them to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A piece of Window Sheet stamped with the “Vintage” Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set in Opaque White Staz-On and cut out with the “Vintage” Cannery Framelits Dies is adhered to the skewers with more Multi-Purpose Glue. To cover up the glue I cut out a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper with the heart from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I love the Window Sheet stamped with the Opaque White Staz-On, it really does look like glass and the Champagne Glimmer Heart give the card just a little bit of sparkle! Freshly Made Sketches 121

Well, that was a very relaxing Saturday and after my fun week at work I needed it! I spent some time in the morning at the craft desk and got a few projects done. I went out for a bit and ran some errands, I even watched a movie! It definitely was a much needed relaxing day! This morning I’m off to Manhattan for a bit and then later on I’m going over to Brian & Kim’s for a Superbowl party. Will you be attending any parties later on? I won’t lie, I’m in for the commercials and food! LOL!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch this week is provided by Linda…

A super clean sketch, I was a little stumped when I first saw it but I let it sit in my brain for a bit and this is what I came up with. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper. The larger hexagon is also This & That and is cut out with my Paper Snips. I used the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set and some Daffodil Delight to stamp the image on top of the large hexagon and the Hexagon Punch to punch it out. My greeting is from the Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit and is stamped in Calypso Coral and cut out with the Squares Collection Framelits. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the greeting and the hexagon to the card. A sprinkling of grey iridescent sequins finishes off the card. I really am glad that I went digging around in my craft supplies, I had completely forgotten about the Epic Day Designer Series Paper! Catherine & Cathy Create 22

Hello my peeps! Are you as happy that week is over as I am?! Work was actually pretty good yesterday, the job fair went as planned and I even got out an hour early. I met up with Anthony, Danielle and Bill for dinner, yes, we went to Friday’s again. Danielle and I needed more of that Tennessee Whiskey Cake! LOL! It really was that good! We stopped at Target after dinner and I came home and made my card for today. So all in all a pretty good day.

I’m over on the Catherine & Cathy Create blog today for this month’s Hearts a Flutter challenge. We ask that you make a project that has a love theme.

I decided to go with a French theme for my card. The base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background, I stamped the En Français Background Stamp in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla. I cut out three Vellum hearts with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and spritzed them with my concoction of Bermuda Bay Re-Inker and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. After it had dried a little I rubbed my finger across it to give it little bit of a vintage look. The hearts are adhered to the card with Vellum Adhesive. The stamped image is from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede, and cut out with my Paper Snips. A piece of Cherry Cobbler is cut out with the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. Three hearts punched out from Brushed Gold Card Stock with the Small Heart Punch complete the card. I really love the Vellum spritzed with the Bermuda Shimmer mix and yes there are those blue and reds that I can’t see to get away from lately! LOL! Fab Friday 34

It’s Friday! Thank the lord! This week has been a not that great week at work. We have the Job Fair at the college this morning and I need to be there at 7:00. I was working on three different projects all at the same time yesterday, if I was a computer my processor would be fried! LOL! But today will be a good day, I will make it a good day! How’s that for some positive thoughts! I also got to see my buddy Andrew last night, always a nice way to end the day! And you guys always brighten my day with your comments. Danielle wanted me to thank you all for your lovely comments about her card. She showed everyone at work yesterday, she was so proud! Making peoples days brighter, that is what my amazing blog readers do! 🙂

It has been a few week’s but we’re back! It’s time for the Fab Friday challenge!! This week we have a fun color combo for you…

As I looked at I thought… those colors look familiar, where have I… ahh… the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (Cue lightbulb above head! LOL!). The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used a few different patterns from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack for my strips. The Crumb Cake Circle is punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. My flowers are from the Simple Stems Stamp Set and are stamped in Pool Party and Real Red. Have you noticed that when I use this DSP I have a mental block?! I always want to use Pool Party instead of Coastal Cabana! I actually do like the Pool party for the flower though! My greeting, from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set, is stamped Versa-Mark and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Real Red with flagged ends. A few Basic Jewel Rhinestones scattered around complete the card. Not overly complicated but I really do like the layering. Paper Players 180

It’s Monday again already?! I did have a nice weekend, Saturday was fun and Sunday was relaxing. I ran some errands in the morning and spent some time crafting and the rest of the time surfing the internet. You can always find something to look at on-line. The ways that you can waste your time are almost limitless! Between Facebook, Pinterest and Movie Trailers you could easily kill a whole day! LOL! Oh, Thank you for all of your birthday wishes for my grandmother yesterday, I will be sure and pass them along to her! 🙂

Today is Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week the lovely Ann has an interesting sketch for us…

A little pocket on the front with a tag! My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The pocket for my tag is a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped in Crumb Cake with the Off The Grid Stamp and adhered to the base with Sticky Strip. My greeting is from the Love You More Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder and backed it with a piece of Coastal Cabana. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the pocket. My tag is made with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, I used the same stamp set for the greeting and stamped it three times in Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay. A piece of “Vintage” Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon fashioned into a bow is adhered to the tag and the tag is slipped into the pocket. Three hearts punched out with the Small Heart Punch from Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake complete the card. I do love the idea of the tag in the pocket, it would also be a great place to slip a gift card into! Thank you, as always, for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge.
