Control Freaks February Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello everyone and welcome to the February Control Freaks Blog Tour! This month’s tour features projects from the 2013 Spring Catalog. If you are following the tour you have arrived here form the very talented Connie Babbert’s blog. She always has such awesome projects doesn’t she?! I have two projects to share with you today. The first one is a journal an the second one is an album with a matching box.

First up is the journal. I found these white journals in Target in the dollar section a few months ago and I thought it would be perfect to decorate with some Stampin’ Up! goodies! The background is created using some So Saffron Card Stock and the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On top of that is one of the Tea Lace Doilies with a piece of Early Espresso that I cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit. The pinwheels are made from Tea for Two Designer Series Paper. I cut out the squares from the paper and then cut down from the corner and used my Bone Folder to curl them a little. A quick punch with the 1/16″ Circle Punch and a Metallic Brad and they are done. They are held in place with Some Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Made for You Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso, punched out with the Large Oval Punch and backed with a piece of Island Indigo that is punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch. A nice fun spring journal that you could use to jot down thoughts or give as a nice gift to a friend.

Next up is the album and matching box. The box is made with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool using Not Quite Navy and Daffodil Delight. The top of the box is decorated with a background of Daffodil Delight that I stamped with the Netting Background Stamp in Daffodil Delight. A piece of Crumb Cake is cut out with the Oval Collection Framelits Dies. On top of that is a piece of paper from the Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper that I flagged on both ends. A piece of Very Vanilla is stamped with the Basic Label Single Stamp in Cajun Craze and cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Die. The year is stamped in Island Indigo using the Memorable Moments Stamp Set and backed with a piece of Marina Mist. Two Neutrals Brads are on either side. The SF is stamped in Not Quite Navy from the Morning Post Alphabet Stamp Set and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Control Freaks Feb Blog Tour Box

The cover also uses Parker’s Prints Designer Series Paper and the Basic Label Stamp. A piece of Very Vanilla is stamped with the image from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set in Crumb Cake and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The California is stamped in Not Quite Navy with the Simply Serif Mini Alphabet. A Silver Basic Designer with some Very Vanilla 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon Ribbon threaded and  is adhered with some Mini Glue Dots in the upper left. Some Natural 7/16″ Ribbon Trim holds it together.

Control Freaks Feb Blog Tour Album

All of the pages inside use Parker’s Prints Designer Series Paper too. On the first page I stamped the tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy and punched them out with Ticket Duo Builder Punch. On the second page the sister is from the Amazing Family Stamp Set and is stamped in Cajun Craze. On page three I used images from the By the Tide Stamp Set and they are stamped in Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler. All of the pictures are of my friends Kim and Angie on their vacation to San Francisco.

Mojo 281

Good morning! I thought for sure I was going to freeze fast to the pavement yesterday! It was so cold and windy here but thankfully by the afternoon it had warmed up a bit. It was a balmy 36 degrees here around 5:00pm! The rest of the week isn’t supposed to be much better. But on the bright side it’s always nice and warm in my crafty corner! LOL!

Being as it’s Tuesday and I like to follow a schedule I have my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for you today. Our sketch this week is provided by the lovely Mary Fish…

Mojo281

Great simple circles! I decided to go with hexagons, a lot of hexagons! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Pool Party Core’dinations Card Stock with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and used the Stampin’ Sanding System to rough it up! Before I adhered the background to the card I used some Sticky Strip to hold a piece of Primrose Petals 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon in place. The large hexagons are cut out from the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. I used the same method that I used last time to cut them out. Cut a piece of paper that is 2″ x 2 1/4″ and measure across the long side 1/2″ in on each side and halfway down on the short side. Use your Paper Snips to cut off the angles and you have a hexagon! Mine are all adhered to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the Ciao, Baby! Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the Petite Curly Label Punch. I like the simplicity of the card and the hexagons are great. I’m wishing that Stampin’ Up! gets some Hexagon Framelits soon, hint, hint! I hope that you like my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for this week. Thank you all so very much for checking in with me today. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow night for the Control Freaks Blog Tour! Hope to see you then!

Fab Friday 12

Ahh… Monday back to rear your ugly head once again I see. It really is funny how the weekend just flies by but the work week seems to move along at a glacial pace isn’t it?! I had a nice weekend and hope that you did too. I had my daughter Taylor and my friend Heather over for dinner last night. I made some Penne Rosa, pinned from Pinterest, and watched the Adjustment Bureau. A nice relaxing evening indeed! How was your weekend? It’s a blustery 15 degrees here this morning, now that’s chilly!

Today I have my Fab Friday card for their color challenge. They have supplied us with these colors to work with…

Fab Friday Color 12

An interesting color combination and I have to admit that I had a little trouble with it at first. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock and the background is a piece of Baja Breeze that I stamped with the Netting Background Stamp. The three stamps are from the Postage Due Stamp Set and are stamped in Wild Wasabi and punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. I used the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies to cut out three pieces of Perfect Plum. Before I adhered them to the back of the stamps I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the chevrons in them. The greeting is from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set. I markered each one of the letters and stamped them individually. The tiny postage stamp punch from the Lovely Little Labels Punch Pack is used to punch them out. I got the idea from the Spring Catalog. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the way the thank you looks all punched out and the Netting Background goes really well with the stamps. I hope that you enjoyed my Fab Friday card and thanks for visiting with me today. I hope you all have a bearable Monday!

Freshly Made Sketches # 73

Morning! How are we all doing this fine Saturday? It was actually really nice here yesterday, we had a high of 50 degrees and I had a nice evening last night. Some TGI Friday’s with Danielle, Anthony, Bill and Heather is always a good time! I will be doing some much needed crafting today, a nice relaxing Saturday for me!

I have my Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card for you today. Jen B. has given us this nice square sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches #73

I really can’t get enough of the Sent With Love Stamps and Designer Series Paper. I love the images and the colors are great too. The base of my card is Calypso Coral Card Stock. I used the clouds from the Up, Up and Away Stamp Set stamped randomly in Calypso Coral for the background. The center circle is Pool party and I stamped the airplane image in Island Indigo. For the two clouds I punched out the frosting from the Cupcake Builder Punch in Whisper White and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The band of paper across the bottom is from the Sent With Love Designer Series Paper Pack. I stamped the special Delivery in Calypso Coral. Another airplane is stamped in Island Indigo and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch and adhered to the inside of a Soda Pop Top that is then adhered to the card with a Mini Glue Dot. Like I said before I really do love the stamps and paper from the Sent With Love Bundle. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Freshly Made Sketches card and as always, thank you for stopping by. Have a great and crafty Saturday!

Create with Connie and Mary 239

Good morning and happy Friday! Did you all have a nice Valentine’s Day? Mine was pretty good. I stopped by my friend Sandy’s and then went over and spent some time with the lovely Kim, Heather, Izzy and Savannah! Izzy said my name last and it was so cute. She is just way too adorable, if you whisper something to her she whispers it back.

Today I have my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card for you. This week we have a sketch…

CCMC 239

NIce and simple! While I was rifling through my supplies I came across an embossing folder that I haven’t used in ages so I thought this would be a good card for it. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Chocolate Chip with the Flower Garden Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the left side. The right side has a piece of paper from the Tea Time Designer Series Paper Pack. The pattern in the paper matches the pattern in the stamp. I adhered a piece of Raspberry Ripple 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back with some Sticky Strip before I mounted it to the card. The stamped image is the Thinking of You Wood Mount Stamp. I stamped it twice, once in Chocolate Chip and again in Raspberry Ripple. The Raspberry Ripple piece is cut out with some Sizzix Circle Framelits and mounted to the Chocolate Chip piece, that I cut out with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies, and then to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. An In Color Dahlia finishes off the card. I like the colors together and the fact that the patterns in the paper and stamp match is pretty neat. I hope you enjoyed my Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge card for this week. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have an amazing Friday!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

The title says it all! Happy Valentine’s Day to you! I’m so happy that I get to share my creativity with you every day! I love that you visit and leave comments. I have gotten to know some of you and I love that too! I guess there is a lot of love going around. Today I have two Valentine’s projects for you. The first one is a banner and the second one is a 3×3 card.

The first one up is a Valentine’s banner. I do like to make a banner from time to time as you know! I used Pool Party, Real Red and Pretty in Pink Card Stock. The flagged backgrounds for each of the panels is Real Red and Pretty in Pink. I embossed each one with the Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the two end panels I used some More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper to make two rosettes. On top of that is a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I stamped the Love Heart in Primrose Petals and punched them out with the Full Heart Punch. Each of the letters is from the Morning Post Alphabet Stamp Set and they are also stamped in Primrose Petals. I used my Paper Snips to cut each one out and backed them with a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits. All of them are then adhered to the flagged pieces with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The string is a piece of “Vintage” Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon and I punched out some more Pool Party with the Modern Label Punch and folded them in half to hang them. I really like the colors and the two larger end pieces on the banner. It looks pretty neat hanging above my craft area!

The second project is a 3×3 card that would be great to give to a special co-worker or slip into your child’s lunch. The base is Whisper White Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. Two flagged pieces of More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper are adhered behind the heart that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies from Primrose Petals and embossed with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The heart in the center is stamped in Pool Party on Pool Party and also cut out with the framelits. The greeting is from the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. All of the elements are adhered to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It’s a cute little card with a lot of wow for it’s size!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 29

Good Wednesday morning my peeps! How are you today? I’m ok, I have a toothache. Thankfully I took some Ibuprofen and it helped. I guess I will be going to the Dentist. I really don’t like the dentist. I guess I had a bad experience when I was little because I have a un-natural fear. Wish me luck! On the weather front, we didn’t get any snow today, I was mistaken. It’s supposed to happen tonight with anywhere from 1″ to 3″. I’m hoping for the 1″ if any!

Today, being Wednesday, means it time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week we have a sketch…

PCCCCS029 TCC V'day 2-13-2013

Since Valentine’s Day is tomorrow I went with a love theme. The base of my card starts off with a piece of Real Red Card Stock and the background is just a plain piece of Crumb Cake. Up in the right hand corner we have a piece of Whisper White that I stamped in Real Red using the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and I cut it out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. The ticket is from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set and is also stamped in Real Red. I punched it out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and put a piece of Real Red behind it and ticketed the corners with the Small Heart Punch. A Tea Lace Doily serves as a background for my pair of Real Red hearts that I cut out with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit and mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a little sparkle I punched a piece of Red Glimmer Paper out with the Small Heart punch and adhered that too with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I like the simplicity of the card but it also has just enough to not be too simple. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week. Click on over and take a look at what the other deigners have for you this week and upload one of your creations for us to see. Thanks for checking in and I hope that you have lovely day!

Hello peeps! How was your Monday? Mine was ok. It rained here all day and was really foggy. Not as much of the snow melted as I had hoped. It’s supposed to snow a little more tonight and maybe some more on Saturday. Sigh… I really am done with winter! I can’t wait for the warmer weather so I can put the top down in my car again!

For today’s post I have my Mojo Monday Sketch challenge card for you. This week Julee Tilman has give us this sketch…

Mojo280

I really love the new Sent With Love Bundle so I decided to use it on my card today. The base of my card is Pool Party Card Stock. I used a strip of paper from the Sent With Love Designer Series Paper across the lower half of the card and on the panel in the middle as well. I adhered the piece in the middle to a piece of Whisper White to give it a little more thickness so I could adhere the “vintage” Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon on a diagonal around the back. The piece of Calypso Coral along the bottom is punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. For the main panel of Pool Party I stamped the dashed line from the Sent With Love Stamp Set in Island Indigo. The greeting is from the Essentials Wood Mount Stamp Set and is also stamped in Island Indigo. I stamped the stamp image in Island Indigo and punched it out with the Postage Stamp Punch. The heart is a piece of Red Glimmer Paper and that is punched out with the Small Heart Punch. The final stamped image is also from the Sent With Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral and punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. I love all of the images and patterns in the bundle and I hope you like my card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch challenge. Thanks very much for spending some time with me today. Come back tomorrow for my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card. Have a super day!

Create with Connie and Mary 238

Happy Friday everyone! Did you all enjoy the Stylin’ Stampin’ Blog Tour yesterday? I liked doing some cards with fabric, it was a nice change of pace. What is on for the weekend? We are supposed to get up tp 18 inches of snow here tomorrow night so it looks like if that’s true I’ll be crafting a lot this weekend and I have no problem with that at all! I’m hoping that they are wrong because we all know how I feel about snow!

Today I have my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card for you. This week we have an In-Color challenge…

CCMC 238

I was feeling something super clean and simple so this is what I came up with. The base of the card is Calypso Coral Card Stock. I took a piece of Whisper White and drew a line up on the left side 1″ in to help me line up the stamp from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set that I inked up in Calypso Coral. I used a Hi-Polymer Eraser to erase the line when I was done. They are great because they leave no trace behind at all. If you don’t have one you really should get one! The greetings are from the Ciao, Baby! Stamp Set and are stamped in Island Indigo and Lucky Limeade. I used the Petite Curly Label Punch to punch them out and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Like I said, super clean and simple. I hope you enjoyed my Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge card today. Thanks for stopping by and keep your fingers crossed that weather man is wrong!

Stylin’ Stampin’ Blog Tour February 2013

Blog Hop 2-2013

Good morning! How are you today? Everything is chugging right along this week so no complaints from me! Today I have my post for this month’s Stylin’ Stampin’ Blog Tour. This month we are featuring projects that use fabric. You may have arrived here from Kim Ryden’s blog. She had some neat projects didn’t she?! Today I have two cards for you and both contain some linen fabric.

First up I have what I like to call the mummy card. The card starts off with a base of Primrose Petals Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of River Rock, which has to be my most under used color. To give it a little extra detail I used the Essential Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to make the scallop along the bottom. The panel is created with some linen fabric that I picked up at a craft store. I cut it into strip and used some Sticky Strip to hold it in place around the back and also to adhere it to the card. The little bandaids are form the Patterned Occasions Stamp Set and are stamped in River Rock and Primrose Petals. I cut them out with my Paper Snips and adhered them to the linen strips with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the same set and is stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the Word Window Punch. I really like the Primrose with the River Rock. They go quite nicely together. After seeing the card you can see why I call it the mummy card!

Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop 2-2013

Next up is a card that contains an item that I forgot I had and it’s the first time I’m using it! The base of this card is Whisper White Card Stock. I cut out a piece of Whisper White with The Lattice Bigz Die and backed it with a piece of Bashful Blue. Before I adhered it to the Gumball Green piece I used some White Stampin’ Emboss Powder to emboss the Thanks so much form the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set. The butterfly is a piece of burlap that I cut out with the Beautiful Butterflies Bgz L Die. For the body I made a paper bead from some First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. A Mini Glue Dot holds the butterfly and body in place. The flower is some more of the linen fabric that I used on the first card that I cut out with the Fun Flowers Bigz L Die. I used a Stampin’ Spritzer that I filled with some Primrose Petals Re-Inker and half water and half rubbing alcohol to spray the flowers to color them. I put them under my desk lamp to speed the drying and they curled up a little which I was quite happy about. I used some more Mini Glue Dots to hold them on the card and a Large Basic Jewel Pearl is placed in the middle. The card has a nice slightly vintage yet modern feel about it. I really did like making the flower, it was fun!
