My brother & his fiancé came by my house on Saturday to discuss their save the dates. They were nice enough to ask me to make them. I’m really excited to get to do it and also look forward to working on the wedding invitations. Their colors are purple and turquoise, I already made a mockup of the Save the Date which I will post once they are sent out. I was inspired, as I usually am when I have to work with set colors, to make a card using those colors. I was also very happy to use my new Butterfly Layering punch from EK Tools. It’s a simple card just because. Thanks for taking a look!
Bright Fall Thanks
What better way to spend a rainy day than making some cards. I was inspired to use some of the colors that I used for my Halloween card from the other day. I took the fall theme and brightened it up a bit with bright green and orange but kept it fall with the leaves. I love the new Maple Leaf Layering Punch from EK Tools. A nice quick simple card just to say thanks!
Pals Paper Arts 109
Hello everyone out there! I hope that everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I spent my with friends, which is my favorite way to spend any day! I actually went out and got the paper in the colors that were needed for this weeks Pals Paper Arts challenge. I had a little trouble getting started and then I decided that I would keep it a little more on the simple side this week. I tend to put a lot of stuff on my cards, not that it’s a bad thing, but simple can be just as nice. I used stamps from Ditto by studio g and the Martha Stewart Crafts small butterfly punch. I’m happy with it and hope that you like it too! Have a great day!
Mojo Monday 206
I really liked the layout for this weeks Mojo Monday. I decided that this would be the perfect layout for my very first Halloween card. I didn’t think I would like the square card but I do. I used some studio g Halloween stamps for the Skelly-Kids, spider web and lettering. Martha Stewart Crafts spider web edge punch made a great dividing line. The three black brads on the green rectangle complete the card. Hope you like it!
Birthday Cards
My friend Sam comes over every Saturday morning for breakfast. We use the time to catch up and I love seeing her, we have been doing it for about 2 years. Today she said to me “Oh, I need two birthday cards, one for a 30 year old and one for a two year old. Do you think you could make them for me? Sorry such late notice but I need them today!” Wow, two hours is plenty of time! LOL! So this is what I came up with. I showed her some cards that I had made previously and she picked the ones that she liked. I then tweaked them a little and this is how they came out.
Mini Happy Birthday
I’m working on my brother’s Save the Dates and I needed a little distraction. I got the Scalloped Square Punch the other day and decided to try it out with the Stampin’ Up Happy Birthday which is part of the Punch Bunch. I love the studio g Grey/Blue ink. I was trying to think of a good coordinating color and came up with orange. I love the contrast of the bright orange with the muted greys. I also used the CuttleBug Sheet Music and Dots embossing folders. The square stamp is from TPC Studio and my trust EK Tools mini cupcake punch. I am also trying to improve a little on my iPhone photography. 🙂
Black, Red & White
After I made my card for Mojo Monday I liked the color combo so much that I made another one. This one is a 4 Bar card. Perfect for a quick little note to let someone know that you are thinking about them. The stamps are i-cling by studio g, the butterfly is Martha Stewart Crafts and the Embossing Folder is CuttleBug.
Mojo Monday #205
Since we had the company of the obnoxious Irene (the hurricane!) I had some quality time at home which I don’t get very often. Thankfully we didn’t loose power at my house so I decided to try my hand at the Mojo Monday Challenge. The card has Alice in Wonderland type feel to it. I love the black, red, grey & white together. I used a Sizzix Embossing folder on the black part of the background and Martha Stewart Craft Edge Punches on the white and grey. The “ribbon” was made with a CuttleBug Embossing Folder. All of the punches used are EK Tools and the stamp is an ditto by studio g. I hope you like it. 🙂
Funny Faces
There is nothing like a trip to the craft store. This week I was in AC Moore rooting through the clearance bin (sometimes you can find the best stuff in there if you have about an hour or two to spare!) and I came across this really neat set of stamps from Inkadinkado. They are called smiles, frowns & smirks. The set comes with 29 little tiny stamps with all sorts of facial expressions that you can mix and match to create hundreds of different combinations! The best part was it was only $2! So here is my little card that I used them to make. There are also a few punches from EK Tools, my new favorite Tag Punch from Stampin’ Up and the scallop tool for the Cutterpede.
Friend’s Birthday Card
It was a friend of mine’s birthday the other day. She is a fun and colorful person so I was inspired by her personality to create this card. I like the bright green and purple together, it reminds me of spring. I’m also a big fan of the Happy Birthday CuttleBug Embossing Folder. The cupcakes are a favorite of mine too because who doesn’t like a cupcake!
