Paper Players 233

That was a long Sunday! It was snowing huge flakes in the morning. I got to the train and it was 15 minutes late and it felt like I waited forever for a subway, 20 minutes to be exact! I got off the subway at 63rd and Lexington and stopped at Starbucks to get a coffee. I spent a nice long morning with my friend Isabella. I love seeing her, she is such a great person and so much fun to spend time with. After that I went to see my friends Julia and Ramsay! Always fun to see them and their two girls. I headed back to Penn Station around 6:15 and got the 6:51 to Hicksville. Dad picked me up and I finished my laundry and had some dinner. When I came home I sat down and made my card for today. I did snap a picture of my parent’s backyard in the morning, you can see how huge the snowflakes are!

Mom & Dads Snow

They were more like snowballs! LOL! It did get sunny in the afternoon and it wasn’t too cold. All in all a very nice way to spend a Sunday! I hope that your weekend was as good as mine!

Now on to my card for today, it’s for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from my clever friend Sandy…

Paper Players #233

I just had to dig out an old favorite of mine for this card! The base for today’s card is Night of Navy Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the front and drew around it with my Gold Gelly Pen before I removed the Framelit. The greeting is from the Hello Life Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used one size larger of the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out and then a little 2-Way Glue adheres it to the back of the front panel. The image on the banner is from the same set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with one of the elements from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. My feather is from the “Vintage” Four Feathers Stamp Set and again is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Feathers Framelits. Some 2-Way glue adheres the banner and feather to the card. A little Hemptique Natural Hemp Twine tied in a bow and adhered with a Glue Dot completes the card. Oh how I have missed my feathers! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Sandy! Thanks so much for taking some time to stop by and catch up! Have a marvelous Monday everyone! 🙂

Best Day Gift Card

Still waiting for the warm up! It was 20 degrees here for most of the day yesterday, too cold! I did manage to get a bunch of crafting done. I played around with inks and water and made some backgrounds for upcoming cards, and a mess while I was at it! LOL! If you follow me on Instagram I posted a picture of some of the ones that I did. I snuck in a movie yesterday afternoon, I watched Lucy with Scarlett Johansson. It was ok, not the best one that I have seen lately! Last night I went out with Anthony and Bill to see our friend Shane sing again at the View. It’s nice to sit at the bar and have a drink and listen to live music. It’s also fun to people watch! LOL! I went outside for a minute and took this picture of the dock. Notice the frozen water!

Oakdale Docks Winter

I thought that the lighting was pretty cool though and you can even see across the water way in the background some lights from the houses, I think from Fire Island.

One of my projects that I worked on, actually while I was on Skype with my friend Eva again, is today’s card. The base is Whisper White Card Stock with a piece of paper from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration. I took another piece of Whisper White and used some Embossing Paste with the Tim Holtz Bubble Layering Stencil for my panel. Another piece of the Best Year Ever DSP is cut out using the Gift Card Envelope and Trim Thinlits. When I put it together I tucked the right flap in and the adhered the rest of them so it’s open on the side. I tied a piece of “Vintage” Summer Starfruit Thick Baker’s Twine around it and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Best Day Every Photopolymer Stamp Set, also from Sale-A-Bration, and is stamped in Soft Suede and Coastal Cabana. I punched it out with the 2″ Circle punch and used some more Stampin’ Dimensionals to hold it in place. Finally, I cut out a piece of Sahara Sand with one of the elements from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and adhered it across the top of the holder with 2-Way Glue. I love the way the stencil echoes the bokeh look in the Designer Series Paper and the stamp! A fun card to use to give someone a gift card for a thank you or pretty much any other occasion! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! I thank you, as always, for coming by to visit with me and I wish you all a fun and productive (or relaxing!) Sunday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 235

Finally Friday! This week has been a long one! Lots of work to do including the move which wasn’t too bad. It was really cold again here today, I think the high was 15! It was my co-worker Cindy’s Birthday today so we all ate lunch together and that’s always nice. I went straight from work to Scrap-A-Latte to relieve Andrew who had been there since 10:00am. We are babysitting the store while Renee is enjoying the warmer weather at CHA in Anaheim, CA! Lucky!! I closed up at 7:00 and stopped by Brian and Kim’s on the way home to catch up with them. I got home around 9:00 and sat down to make my card for today. Happily finished that and then watched a little TV Before heading off to bed. Not a bad Thursday and it’s back to the scrapbook store tonight. Oh, I also edited the background picture on the homepage so you should actually be able to see the Brooklyn Bridge and the new Freedom Tower too! You’ll have to let me know if I was successful! 🙂

Today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 235

Today’s card is inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest and it begins with a base of Soft Sky Card Stock. I used a piece of paper from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack to go down the right side behind my background which is a piece of Soft Sky that I stamp in Soft Sky with the Dictionary Background Stamp. It’s mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Across the lower half of the card is a piece of Vintage Designer Series Paper, but I not going tell you what it is, lets see if you can guess and leave me a comment just for fun! On top of that is a piece of Pool Party with the left end angled. My greeting is from the Fabulous Four Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Island Indigo. That and the stamp in the upper right are also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Speaking of the stamp that’s from the Postage Due Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. I finished off the card with some Sparkling Clear Sequins adhered with Crystal Effects. A fun simple card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge and I hope that you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for stopping by to see me on my favorite day of the week! Have a fabulous Friday Everyone! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 126

Ahh… the weathermen, they rarely get things right do they?! It was supposed to snow this morning and then turn to rain around noon. Nope, it snowed all day, thankfully we only got about a inch but boy did it get cold! Tomorrow night it’s supposed to get down to around -10 degrees! I was speaking to my friend Andrea who lives in Colorado and she said that she sent it my way. I said thank but you really don’t have to do things like that! LOL! My office move went smoothly and I had most of it done in about 3 hours. There are still little odds and ends left in my old space but I’ll get to them tomorrow. I picked Andrew up from the Airport last night around 1:00am, his flight was delayed by a little over and hour and they had to wait for a gate for a long time. In fact they didn’t even end up at the Delta terminal! Not too bad considering that if someone sneezes on the tarmac at JFK they close the airport! I was quite happy to have him back but I think that he forgot to bring the warmer weather with him! 🙂

It’s Wednesday and that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew for this week’s sketch…

PCCCS126 Sketch 12-07-2015

Fun and simple! I changed a few things around but I stuck pretty closely to it. The card base for today is Basic Black Card Stock. My background is a piece of Very Vanilla and across that bottom is some First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. I adhered a piece of Lost Lagoon 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back and slid a “Vintage” Designer Round Ribbon Slide onto it, I still love those things! My panel is also a piece of Very Vanilla and my image is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped on Memento Tuxedo Black. I backed it with some Basic Black and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The “World’s Greatest” and “Hats Off to You!” are also from the same set and are stamped in Lost Lagoon. The “World’s Greatest” Is cut out with my Paper Snips and the other greeting is flagged on the left. Both are adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I punched out a piece of Lost Lagoon with the 3/4″ Circle Punch to back another hat from the Guy Greeting Set that I cut out with my Paper Snips and popped that up on a Stampin’ Dimensional too! I love the colors and the nice maculae feel to the card, even with the ribbon! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Mojo Monday 375

Mondays still aren’t my favorite day of the week. And to make it a true Monday, it was absolutely freezing here yesterday. As an added bonus, we’re supposed to have a Noreaster today with high winds and heavy rain. That will make for a fun commute to work this morning. Heather told me that my headlight was out on Thursday and I finally remembered to change it last night, in the freezing cold. Sometimes I am not the smartest person in the world, but I guess it was better than waiting for today’s rain. Luckily, Andrew came by and got to stand outside and freeze with me. The rest of the evening was pretty uneventful. How was your Monday?

Before we get to today’s post here are the Weekly Deals from Stampin’ Up!

Weekly Deals 12-09-2014 All

My little bit of craftiness last night yielded today’s card which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo375

The only thing that I knew when I started the card was I that I wanted to use the circular wooden frame. Today’s card base is Crumb Cake Card Stock and for my panel on the left I embossed a piece of Soft Suede with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the little scene I used the White Christmas Photopolymer Stamp Set. The trees are stamped in Soft Suede and the bird and snowman in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the snowman’s scarf and hat as well as the bird. The panel is a piece of Cherry Cobbler with the greeting from the “Vintage” Contempo Christmas Stamp Set heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the hole in the Cherry Cobbler and also a piece of Gold Foil Sheet which I backed it with. The panel is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now, for the circular wooden frame which is from the Dear Heart Photopolymer Stamp Set. It is stamped in Soft Suede on Crumb Cake and after a little fiddling I figured out that you can punch it out with the 2″ Circle Punch and then use one of the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the middle! I really do like the way the little scene is framed. See what I did there? LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope your weather is a lot better than ours. Have a great day! 🙂

Paper Players 225

And it’s Monday again. I had a nice relaxing weekend, something I don’t usually do. I still managed to get some stuff done, not as much as I wanted to but it happens! Yesterday was semi-productive. I got the tree out up and now I need to find the decorations. I ran to BJ’s last night with Heather and then we went over to see Brian & Kim. Andrew stopped by too. Not a bad way to end the day! I can’t believe how fast Christmas is approaching. I need to get my cards out this week. Have you started or finished your cards yet?

Monday and it’s time for another Paper Players challenge. This week we have a theme challenge from Nance…

Paper Players #225

Hmm… a fancy holiday project to me means lots of glitz! I began today’s card with a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. My background is a piece of Basic Black that I heat embossed (I know, shocking!) the tree from the “Vintage” Christmas Lodge Stamp Set in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My frame is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper that I cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies along with a piece of Window Sheet. Before I adhered the Window Sheet to the frame I heat embossed the greeting from the “Vintage” Greetings of the Season Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and put it in between the frame and Window Sheet. Some sequins are sprinkled on the black and I doubled up on the foam tape so they would be able to move around nicely. I like the way that the vellum obscures the sequins so it’s a little bit of a surprise when you shake the card and they all come up! I hope that you enjoyed my sparkly card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Thanks for visiting and here’s to a very good Monday for us all! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 163

I’m a little late this morning, I got home late last night and woke up later than I wanted to this morning. It was one of those the bed is too warm and cozy to get out of it mornings! I had a good Friday but poor little Daniel did not. He fell and hit his head on the corner of a marble table and had to go to the hospital. They saw a plastic surgeon and everything should be ok but I felt so bad for the little guy. I was told that it looks much worse than it was, It looks pretty bad to me…

Daniel Cut

I probably won’t see him until next week but I’ll let you know how he’s doing. I was on my own for dinner last night so Heather, Kim, Taylor and I took a ride up to the Broadway mall. The girls wanted to do a little shopping and I needed some new threads too. I ended up getting two pairs of pants and two sweaters along with a bottle of my favorite cologne. Heather and I went and got some Chinese food and watched a little TV and ended up chatting until late. Not a bad way to spend a Friday night! Today I have a list of things that I would like to get accomplished, we’ll see how far I get with that! LOL!

My card for today was inspired by a friends that I pinned yesterday and it’s for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 163

I love the Joy to the World sentiment especially when used with a globe! LOL! My card starts off with a base of Garden Green Card Stock. A strip of Soft Sky goes down the left side and on top of that is a piece of paper from the Maritime Designer Series Paper Pack with the right corners rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. The globe is from the Open Sea Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green on Soft Sky and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the “Vintage” Joy to the World Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Vellum with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used a little 2-Way Glue behind the words to adhere it to the card. Not an overly complicated card but I like the colors and the unusual mix of elements. I hope that you enjoy my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. You can take a look at the inspiration card HERE! Thank you so much for coming by today. I hope that you all have a wonderful Saturday! 🙂

Fab Friday 55

Yay! It’s Friday and next week is a short week! Yesterday was a little warmer and not as windy and even though it’s going to rain on Monday I’m looking forward to temps in the 60’s! Work was the norm yesterday and when I got home little Daniel was there for dinner. He just runs all over the place now, so cute. I went over to Heather’s last night for a little wine night with Stephanie and Andrew, that was fun! I’ll be in Manhattan on Sunday and I’m going to try an attempt to get my house cleaned on Saturday. What’s on for the weekend for you?

What makes Friday even better? It’s time for another Fab Friday challenge and this time around we have a sketch…

Fab Fri 55 11-21-2014

I have been really into the blues again for my Holiday cards and I also stayed pretty true to the sketch. My card base is Island Indigo Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it towards the top of the base. A piece of Pool Party 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon is adhered around the back across the bottom of the Silver with Sticky Strip. My snowflake is from the “Vintage” Festive Flurry Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Vellum in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits. In the middle is a Silver Basic Metal Button with some “Vintage” Pool Party Baker’s Twine tied in a bow. I adhered the button to the snowflake with a Glue Dot and the snowflake to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. My greeting is from the Watercolor Winter Too Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with one of the dies from the Circle Card Thinlits. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place. A nice simple card, again not too difficult to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge. Don’t forget to pay a little visit to the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the sketch and take a minute to enter your card too! Thanks you for coming by to visit with me and I wish you all a Fantastic Friday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 119

Wow! It’s Wednesday already! Not too bad and I just remembered that Thanksgiving is next week! Yes, I have been in my own little world lately! Where has this year gone?! It was very cold here today, in the 30’s! It always happens too fast don’t you think? I was in a t-shirt last week, today a sweater. I am so not a fan of the winter, but what can you do? Of course since it got cold Taylor thought that it was the perfect time to put her new car stereo in at 7:30 last night. So not only cold but pretty dark too! I did get it finished and she was a happy little camper. The rest of my evening was spent listening to music and thinking way too much. A way to pass the time I guess! LOL! Thank you again for your wonderful comments! I could say it every day and it still wouldn’t be enough! 🙂

Wednesday, well that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS119 Sketch 11-19-2014

For some unknown reason as soon as I saw the sketch I thought of an image and had to go digging to find it! The card base for today is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I used a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. Next up is a piece of the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Basic Black. A piece of Silver Foil Sheet punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch goes in the upper left and some Basic Black Baker’s Twine is wrapped around three times and tied in a bow off to the side. I adhered the background to the base with some SNAIL. The image is from the “Vintage” All Aboard Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler. I backed it with some Cherry Cobbler and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love that image of the train and it works so well for a Christmas card! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what the other designers have for your inspiration and enter your card in the gallery for us to see! Thank you all so much for spending a little time with me today! I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

Paper Players 220

Happy Monday! I had a wonderful weekend! Saturday I went to Trenton, NJ for a rubber stamp show. It’s the first one that I have been to and it was pretty neat to see all of the different companies that I have never heard of before. I went with Michael and his best friend Sue and her sister Arlene. We met up with their friends Gail and Debbie and wandered around for a few hours. After that we went to Hobby Lobby. I don’t know if any of you have ever been to a Hobby Lobby but they pretty much have anything that you can think of and I mean anything. I picked up a few things that I have been eyeing for a while and even found some stuff that was on clearance that I wanted. We stopped at Red Robin for dinner and then headed home. Here are a few pictures, the first one is Michael and I and the next one is all of us.

Yesterday I was in Manhattan seeing some friends. Michael had to work at the Ink Pad so we drove in together. I went to see Penny and Joe over on the West Side for a bit. I had forgotten that the NYC Marathon was yesterday so when I finished up at their house I tried to get a cab to go back over to the East side. That took about 15 minutes! I did finally get over and stopped to see Jim and Isabella for a bit and then headed down to the Ink Pad to wait for Michael to get off of work. We took the subway back to his car in Astoria and stopped and picked up some Chinese for dinner on the way home. Taylor stopped by for a bit and and we just listened to some music and relaxed. All in all one of the best weekends I have had in a very long time! 🙂

Now on to today’s post. If it’s Monday then it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my friend LeAnne has given us a vintage challenge…

Paper Players #220

Since I have started stamping I have been given lots of things by my friends that they see when they are out from other companies besides Stampin’ Up! Last week I was playing with some of that stuff and came up with this card and I really love the way it turned out and it fit with the challenge so I decided I would share it with you. The card base is Neenah Solar White, I needed a thick base for my background. Speaking of the background it’s a piece of Watercolor Paper and I heat embossed the “Vintage” French Script Background Stamp in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Next I used a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water to wet the whole sheet of paper. Two more Stampin’ Spritzers, one filled with my Bermuda Bay, Champagne Shimmer Mist and alcohol concoction and the other with Early Espresso and alcohol are spritzed across the background. Some Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distress Paint mixed with water is then added. The image and greeting are from a Tim Holtz set that has matching framelits called French Flight. I used more of the Distress Paint to stamp the Eiffel Tower and the “Paris” is stamped in Soft Suede on Kraft Craft Card Stock and sponged around the edges. A piece of burlap is spritzed with more Early Espresso and a piece of the Ideology Filmstrip Ribbon is stapled to the background with my Handheld Stapler. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the tower and word and a few mocha sequins scattered across the background complete the card. I had a lot of fun making the card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge from LeAnne. I hope that you enjoyed it. As always, thank you for stopping by to share some of your time with me. Have a great Monday! 🙂
