Paper Players 180

It’s Monday again already?! I did have a nice weekend, Saturday was fun and Sunday was relaxing. I ran some errands in the morning and spent some time crafting and the rest of the time surfing the internet. You can always find something to look at on-line. The ways that you can waste your time are almost limitless! Between Facebook, Pinterest and Movie Trailers you could easily kill a whole day! LOL! Oh, Thank you for all of your birthday wishes for my grandmother yesterday, I will be sure and pass them along to her! 🙂

Tomorrow is the big day people! Sale-A-Bration starts! Do you have your lists ready?!?! I have a few orders to put in for customers already! Today is Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week the lovely Ann has an interesting sketch for us…

A little pocket on the front with a tag! My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The pocket for my tag is a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped in Crumb Cake with the Off The Grid Stamp and adhered to the base with Sticky Strip. My greeting is from the Love You More Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder and backed it with a piece of Coastal Cabana. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the pocket. My tag is made with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, I used the same stamp set for the greeting and stamped it three times in Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay. A piece of “Vintage” Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon fashioned into a bow is adhered to the tag and the tag is slipped into the pocket. Three hearts punched out with the Small Heart Punch from Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake complete the card. I do love the idea of the tag in the pocket, it would also be a great place to slip a gift card into! Thank you, as always, for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Paper Craft Crew 77

So, I think I mentioned that we were supposed to get snow yesterday. They said it was supposed to start around 12:00, well it started at 8:00 and boy did it snow! There was about 5 inches on the ground when they let us out of work at 2:15. My usual 10 minute ride home was a leisurely 40 minutes. It was nice to get out of work early though because I came home and crafted the evening away! My boss called me and asked to put on the company website that we would have a delayed opening today at 12:00 which is very convenient because I’m taking Andrew to the airport this morning. Hopefully the roads will be cleared and it will be an uneventful trip. He is going to LA where it is warm and I’ll admit I’m a little jealous! 🙂

Today is Wednesday so that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This time around we have a fun simple sketch for you…

I was feeling nostalgic when I sat down to make my card so I dusted off an old favorite of mine! My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock and the background is a piece of Chocolate Chip that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I keep using the reverse side of the folder, I like it better for some reason! My tag is created using the Angled Tag Topper Punch and the stamp is the “Vintage” Young Vermillion, I love the image, it’s so detailed and he looks great stamped in Chocolate Chip. The larger flag and the stars are Pistachio Pudding, the stars are punched out with the Merry Minis Punch pack and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is also stamped in Chocolate Chip. The three banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Pistachio Pudding and punched out with the Banner Punch**. I really do still love that little bird and he looks right at home with the modern elements on the card. So there you have my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. Paper Craft Crew 74 & Sneak Peek

Happy New Year peeps!! I hope this year bring many great things for us all! I know that all of you made 2013 an amazing year for me and I thank you!! I spent New Years Eve with my friends Brian & Kim and the kiddies. There was some wine and lot of food! Good friends always make for the best time! I’m also celebrating a milestone today, this is my 731 consecutive post! That’s two full years of a post every day!! Thank you all again!! 🙂

My first card of 2014 is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge and here is this week’s sketch…

The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Smoky Slate that I embossed with the “Vintage” Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (which you can pick up on the Clearance Rack by the way!). I adhered a piece Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around the back before I adhered it to the card. The four chevrons on the right are punched out with Chevron Border Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the See Ya Later Stamp Set** and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Daffodil Delight cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies*. Two pieces of Bermuda Bay are punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and two Brights Candy Dots are adhered on top. Across the bottom is a piece of Daffodil Delight that is cut out with the Label Card Thinlits Dies. I love the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder with the new stamp from Sale-A-Bration, they go so well together! Thank you so much for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. SUO Challenges 87 & Sneak Peek

Well, here we are, the last day of 2013! Can you believe that it’s over? I think that the year just flew by. It seems like just yesterday I was at Convention. And now in a little over a week, I’ll be leaving for Leadership. Amazing just how fast things move. Hopefully it’s warmer in Texas than it is here because it was freezing today and it’s supposed to be 12 degrees on Friday! Brrrr!

For my last post of the year I have my card for the SUO Challenge. This time we ask you to create a card using January colors…

When I think of January, I think of cold, so I used blues and some snowflakes for my card. The base of my card is Island Indigo. For the background I used a piece of the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper. Another piece of Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Island Indigo is on top of that. A banner of the Silver Foil Sheet goes across that and my flag is cut out from a piece of Bermuda Bay with the Banners Framelits Dies* and embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Two more pieces of the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper are cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Bring on the Cake Stamp Set, is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with the Word Bubble Framelits*. How’s that for a festive, chilly birthday card?! If you’ll notice, I didn’t tell you what the name of the Designer Series Paper that is backed with Island Indigo is called. Let’s play a fun little game! Let’s see how many of you can tell me what it’s called. From all of you that answer correctly, I will select one random person and send them a little surprise. No cheating and reading the other comments. LOL! I hope you enjoyed my SUO Challenges card this time around. Crisp Starfruit Stars & Little Sneak Peek

How was your Sunday? Mine was pretty good for the last one of the year. I went into Manhattan in the morning and when I was finished with my appointment it was raining. That sort of dashed my hopes of taking a walk. When I got back on the Island I went to see my friends Kim and Kevin, Izzy and Savannah. We had some wine and Kim made ravioli parm for dinner. It was a much needed visit and Kim is just awesome! I also got to see Andrew for a minute. He has been very sick with the flu but is doing much better! I did manage to take one picture when I got to Penn Station. It’s not very exciting but it is the home of the new LIRR station, the former Post Office. You can see how rainy and gloomy it was too.

There is no Paper Players card for today. Instead I have another fairly simple card, sort of a collage with unusual fun colors. The base of the card is Summer Starfruit Card Stock. My background is a piece of Whisper White. I stamped the large stars from the Simply Stars Stamp Set and the small ones from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** both in Smoky Slate randomly on a diagonal. The greeting is from the Bring on the Cake Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso on a piece of paper from the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper Pack. Another piece is adhered to one of the tags from the Stamp a Tag Kit and a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape* is adhered around the end. Some Whisper White Bakers Twine is looped through the hole for the tie. I stamped another greeting from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set in Early Espresso and punched it out with the “Vintage” Large Star Punch. Three more stars are punched out with the Merry Minis Punch Pack from Silver Foil Sheet and all of them are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love all of the colors, I think they go quite nicely together and the Washi Tape and Silver Foil Sheet give just the right amount of sparkle. Now on to today’s post. It’s Monday and that means it’s time for the Paper Players! This week we have a fun challenge from Lovely LeAnne…

I was quite happy when I saw this because a little over a month ago I made a card that works perfectly for this challenge. I got my inspiration from Pinterest and I was saving it… just for this… yeah… that’s right! LOL! The base of my card is Gumball Green Card Stock. The little strip of paper across the bottom is from the Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper Pack. All of my images are stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla. The pine branches are from the “Vintage” Watercolor Winter Stamp Set and are stamped and stamped-off in Always Artichoke. My circles are from various middles of stamp sets and are stamped and stamped-off in Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, So Saffron and Blushing Bride. I choose my greeting from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and it is stamped in Coastal Cabana. Finally some sequins are randomly placed in coordinating colors. I love the way the circles and sequins look like lights on a tree and the mix of colors is just fun! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Evergreen challenge from LeAnne. Fab Friday 32

Happy Black Friday! Did you do any midnight shopping? I was good and stayed home, I had too much other stuff going on yesterday! I finished cutting out the pieces for the additional bookmarks for work, I just have to assemble them this morning. I also didn’t end up staying home for Thanksgiving. My good friend Sandy invited me to her house for dinner with her family. I had a wonderful time and she is an amazing cook. I don’t think I will have to eat at all today! LOL! I hope that all of you had a very nice Thanksgiving too!

Not only is today Black Friday but it’s also time for Fab Friday! This time around we have a color combo for you…

I had a vision of what I wanted my card to look like, I just had no idea how much I would end up pulling out to get it that way! My card base is Coastal Cabana Card Stock and the background is a piece of Real Red that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up I flagged a piece of Gumball Green and adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now for the collage which starts off with a Tea Lace Paper Doily. I used some old and some new stamps to create the collage and whole bunch of punches! In there are stamps from the “Vintage” Tags ‘Til Christmas, Best of Christmas, Very Merry Tags, “Vintage” Stitched Stockings and Festive Flurry Stamp Sets and the Christmas Tagables Photopolymer Stamp Set. To punch them out I used the “Vintage” Large Tag, Ornament and Stocking Builder, Decorative Label, Petite Curly Label, Mosaic, Christmas Ornament, 7/8″ Scallop Circle and 1″ Circle Punches. Now that’s a lot of punches and stamps! LOL! They are all stamped in Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Gumball Green. Oh, and there is a snowflake from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits peeking out too! I really do love the randomness of the collage look and yes, it’s a lot of product but it’s also a lot of fun! Mojo 320

It was quite chilly again here today and is just going to get colder. Winter has finally arrived just in time for the Holiday’s. Who invited it again?! LOL! One more day until the week is done, always makes me smile! I’ll be in Manhattan on Saturday, it’s supposed to rain in the morning but hopefully it will clear up so I can go for a little stroll. Sunday will be a crafty day, lots to do!

My inspiration for today’s post is this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and the clever Julee Tilman provides us with this sketch…

This has been a little bit of a “Vintage” week so I figured I would continue on with the trend! My card starts off with a base of Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. The panel of paper is from the “Vintage” Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack from this year’s Spring Catalog. Next up is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My image is from the Crazy, Mixed Up Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals on Vellum Card Stock and Very Vanilla. I cut them both out with my Paper Snips and adhered just the top and bottom of the one stamped on the Very Vanilla to the Vellum piece. It makes a great way to hide the Stampin’ Dimensionals that I used to adhere it to the Very Vanilla base backed with some Primrose Petals. Before I adhered all of that to the card I used some Sticky Strip to fix the Primrose Petals 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back. A piece is tied to the ribbon and the greeting is adhered with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I’m loving the way the lava lamp looks stamped on the Vellum and the colors are fun too! Paper Craft Crew 68

It was freezing here last night and windy all day! Not my kind of weather I can tell you! Did you’ll enjoy the Control Freaks Blog Tour last night?! Off to today’s post we go and it’s my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

For my card base, I used Calypso Coral Card Stock and for my background I dusted off an oldie-but-goodie, my “Vintage” Distressed Dots Background Stamp stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla Card Stock. My main image is from the Simply Sketched Host(ess) Stamp Set stamped in Soft Suede and backed with a piece of Gumball Green. The two flags are pieces of the Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper and they are adhered to the panel with SNAIL. The greeting is from the Chalk Talk Stamp Set stamped in Soft Suede and punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch. I used the Circles Collections Framelits to cut out a piece of Gumball Green to back it. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the greeting and panel to the base of the card. To finish off the card I used the “fork method” to make my bow from Gumball and a Mini Glue Dot to adhere it. Every once in a while I miss one of my stamps, which is why you saw the Distressed Dots today! Control Freaks November Blog Tour

Hello everyone and welcome to the November Control Freaks Blog Tour! Our theme for this month’s tour is Christmas! If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from Cindy Elam’s blog. She had some great stuff, didn’t she?! I have two home decor projects for you. Who couldn’t use a little inspiration to help with the decorating around your house this time of year?

The first of the two projects I have for you today is a banner. I’m a big fan of nontraditional holiday colors and this banner is no exception. The bases for the banner are Cherry Cobbler Card Stock that I stamped in Cherry Cobbler with the Dictionary Background Stamp. I flagged the bottoms and used the 1″ Circle Punch to create the ticket corners on the top. The rosettes are made from Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. My next layer is a piece of Blushing Bride that I cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies and embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The letters that spell out JOY are cut out using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies from Cherry Cobbler. To add a little interest I stamped some snowflakes from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set in Pool Party and cut them out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies. The flags are held on to the jute twine with some Pool Party that is punched out with the “Vintage” Tab Punch. The snowflakes are held on with Card Stock that is punched out with the Word Window Punch. It’s a fun and relatively simple banner to make, but it’s sure to dress up any home for the holidays!

My second project for today I’m going to use as a tree topper, but you could also use it as an ornament on a bigger tree or it could be hung on a door. The base for my project is a piece of Soft Sky Card Stock that I cut out with the Circles Collections Framelits Dies. The background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped with the World Map Background Stamp in Old Olive and that is also cut out with the Circles Framelits. I used the Christmas Star Single Stamp heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, cut out with my Paper Snips and scored with my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Some stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the background. The greeting is from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler and punched out with the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. It is backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies. Two flagged pieces of Brushed Gold Card Stock are adhered behind it. On the back of it is a tube of Soft Sky that I will use to place it on top of my tree.
