Fab Friday 15

A very happy Friday to you all! I do love me some Friday! Anything exciting going on this weekend? Will you be spending some time with you families on Easter? I’ll be going over to see my parents for dinner and probably see the child. Easter is so much more fun when you are a kid. Remember Easter egg hunts, Easter baskets and getting dressed up? I miss the Easter baskets the most, I do love some chocolate!

Every other Friday means that it’s time for Fab Friday! You guys had some great entries for our last challenge I can’t wait to see what you do with this one! This time around we have a sketch challenge for you…

Fab Fri 15 3-29-2013

Mt card begins with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White for the background. The main panel is stamped with images from the By the Tide Stamp Set and backed with a piece of Midnight Muse. The background is stamped in Sahara Sand. I stamped the fish in Crumb Cake and used an eyeshadow applicator (bought especially for this purpose, LOL!) to color him in with Midnight Muse. He is fussy cut and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere him to the card. A piece of Sahara Sand that is punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch is adhered along the bottom and the whole panel is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack is flagged on the left. On top of that is a piece of adhesive cork shelf liner. The greeting is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse. For a little sparkly bubbles I adhered some silver sequins that I had stashed away in an old craft bin. This will make quite a cool masculine birthday card for someone in the near future. I love the cork and the sequins, they are a nice way to mix it up! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the Fab Friday Sketch challenge. Click over to the blog to see what my talented fellow designers have come up with and I look forward to seeing your card in the gallery. Have yourselves a fab Friday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 35

So here we are at Wednesday, half way there! Today I was Mr. Fix-It at work. My friend Lisa was having trouble getting her car started. I determined that it was the battery in her smart key and Toyota couldn’t fix it. My friend Anthony’s wheelchair wouldn’t work so I tinkered with that and fixed that. Finally my friend Danielle’s Nexus 7 wouldn’t turn on so I got that to work. I came home and played with MDS for a bit and made a card (wanted to make more but time just gets away!). All in all a good day. How was your day?

Wednesday means it’s Paper Craft Crew time. This week we have a sketch for you to play with…

PCCCS035 3-27-2013 Sketch

I looked at the Parker’s Patterns DSP and the Spec-tacular stamp and decided to go with a retro vibe. The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Woodgrain Background Stamp inked in Crumb Cake for the background. Two strips of Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper fill in the middle. The Spec-tacular Single Stamp is stamped in Cajun Craze on Very Vanilla. I colored in a pair of the glasses with the Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker and backed it with a piece of Not Quite Navy. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The button is a Silver Basics Designer Button. I punched a piece of Not Quite Navy with the 1/2″Circle Punch and a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack and adhered them  to the center of the button. Some Mini Glue Dots hold the button to the  card. The sentiment is form the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set, stamped in Not Quite Navy and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. For a little 60’s vibe I stamped the peace symbols from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy and punched them out with a standard hole punch. Some more Mini Glue Dots hold them in place. I love the Spec-tacular Stamp and the colors and DSP do give it a bit of a retro feel. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Stop by the blog and check out the other designers projects and enter one of yours for me to take a peek at! Thanks for checking in and I hope that you have a nice day! 🙂

Hey there, how are you today? Things are ok here. Would you believe that it snowed again today, just for a little bit, but it snowed! It was overcast and rainy all day. I am so ready for warm weather. Is it just me or does this winter seem exceptionally long? Oh Mother Nature… whatever we did to make you mad I apologize, can we have some warm now… please?!

It’s Tuesday so today I have my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for you. This week’s sketch is provided by Julee Tilman…

Mojo286

Hmm… I think square! LOL! The base of my card is Island Indigo Card Stock and the background is just a plain piece of Sahara Sand. The flag is a piece of paper from the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper Pack (now vintage!). The band across the middle is piece of Sahara Sand that I embossed with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with a piece of Island Indigo. The scallop across the bottom is made by punching some of the stamped images, stamped in Island Indigo, from the A Round Array Stamp Set that is a peek set form the 2013-2014 Catalog! You can order it early, pretty neat huh?! They are adhered to the back of the band with SNAIL and the band to the base with the same. The greeting is also from the A Round Array Stamp Set, stamped in Island Indigo and backed with a piece of Island Indigo that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the edge. The stamped image is then adhered to it with SNAIL and to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I think the A Round Array set is nice and versatile and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us! I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch challenge card. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments! You guys rock!

Pals Paper Arts 155

And here we go again! I know I say it all the time but the weekend goes way too fast! I did have a very nice day yesterday with Kim. We stopped and did some shopping on the way back to Manhattan. I got some more much needed craft storage (M’s had a great sale yesterday!), now I just need to figure out where I’m going to put it! I got a parking space on the street and we had lunch at the diner. They have such great burgers, cooked just right, large portion and very reasonably priced! After lunch we went downtown and I stopped in at the Ink Pad (just to browse!), after that some coffee at Roasting Plant Coffee. I got home in record time and picked up Taylor, she surfed the internet and I crafted. Not a bad weekend at all!

Today I have my Pals Paper Arts card for their sketch challenge…

PPA 155

The base of my card is Primrose Petals Card Stock, I rounded the right corners on all of the pieces with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. For the background, just a plain piece of Very Vanilla. The strips of paper are from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. The main image/greeting is the Hello, Hello Single Stamp and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple and backed with a piece of the same. I think the stamp looks great with some of the flowers from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I punched some out in Summer Starfruit and Primrose Petals and adhered them with Mini Glue Dots. It needed one more thing… ahh… some Basic Jewels Pearls in the center of the flowers, that’s just what it needed! I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Nice, simple but not too simple. I hope that you enjoyed my Pals Paper Arts card for the sketch challenge. I thank you, as always for stopping by and I hope that you have as best Monday you can! 🙂

Paper Players #138 :-)

And there goes Saturday, fast as always! I hope that you had a fun day yesterday, I did. I crafted in the morning and went out and did a little shopping. I met my friend Maureen for lunch, we had Panera, definitely one of my favorites. I love their Chopped Chicken Cobb with Avocado Salad and their Acia Berry Iced Tea. I got my friend Kim from the airport after her week in paradise as she called it! All in all a very good day!

Since today is Sunday that means it’s time for another Paper Players Challenge. First, congratulations to Natalie for being my choice for Cut Above on last week’s challenge! This week the amazing Anne Marie has given us this clever sketch…

Paper Players #138 Sketch 3-24-2013

I’m liking it a lot! I knew what I was going to use, it just took a little selective weeding to get my card just right. The base of my card is Riding Hood Red Card Stock. I used one of the stamps from the Paper Pumpkin Kit to stamp the random ink drops for the background in Basic Gray. The tag in the middle, stamp and ruler are all from the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper Pack. There are some really great images on the sheets that you can cut out or punch out. The ruler along the right side is backed with a piece of Basic Gray that I punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. The stamp is punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch and backed with a piece of Riding Hood Red that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Square Punch. The tag and the stamp are adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The tag is also backed with a piece of Very Vanilla to give it a little extra strength and the corners are rounded with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. I stamped some images from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in Riding Hood Red and Basic Gray and punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. A standard office paper clip holds them to the tag. The greeting is from the Family Reunion Stamp Set. I stamped it in Riding Hood Red and cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. After I cut off the left side I adhered it to the card with SNAIL. I forgot how much I like the Riding Hood Red paired with the Basic Gray and how neat the Fan Fair DSP is. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Sketch Challenge brought to you by Anne Marie. Freshly Made Sketches #78

Friday, need I saw any more! I was in the city until 10:00 last night and I got off the train at 11:05, I’m a little tired today. For some added fun the hockey game let out just before I got to Penn Station, again, need I say more?! What’s on for the weekend? I’m off to the airport to get my friend Kim tomorrow night. I have always loved the airport and been fascinated with planes since I was a little kid. I would like to be on one somewhere soon!

Just a reminder that today is the last day for Sale-A-Bration! Don’t forget to place your order to get some of the amazing products from this year’s line up!

Freshly Made Sketches #78

I love the Sent with Love Suite, it speaks to my love of planes! The base of my card is Pool Party Card Stock. The background is a piece of Sent with Love Designer Series Paper. At the top is a piece of Island Indigo the I cut with the Large Scallop Edgelit on the one side. A piece of Real Red is embossed with the Needlepoint Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered on top. All of the images are from the Sent with Love Stamp Set. The main image is stamped in Calypso Coral and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. I stamped the image again in Island Indigo and used my Paper Snips to cut out the plane. The words are stamped in Real Red and both pieces are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I backed it with a piece of Sent with Love Designer Series Paper, also cut out with the Ovals Framelits, and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting in the lower right is stamped in Calypso Coral and punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, yup, another Dimensional holds it in place. I hope that you enjoyed my Freshly Made Sketches card fir this week’s challenge. I thank you very much for spending some time with me today and I hope you have a wonderful Friday!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 34

Ahh, Thursday, I like you so much better than Monday! How are we all today? I’m good, looking forward to the weekend as always. Yesterday felt a little long but today will be a bit longer. I’m off to Manhattan after work, hopefully it will be finished raining/snowing/freezing by the time I head in. They had a derailment on the LIRR on Monday and it has messed up the trains all week. Maybe that will be cleared up tomorrow too, we can only hope. Did you all enjoy the Control Freaks Blog Tour yesterday?! I always have so much fun making my projects with that super talented group. If you didn’t get a chance to take a look be sure to, there were some great projects!

Today I have my post for this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge. This time around we have a sketch challenge…

Some really neat suggestions in the sketch wouldn’t you agree?! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper Pack from Sale-A-Bration. You only have until tomorrow to place you order and qualify for your free Sale-A-Braiton goodies and then it’s gone again until next year. I cut out a doily from the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit in Whisper White. The rounded scallop flag and the flagged pieces are cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies from Island Indigo and Tangerine Tango. All three of the pieces are adhered under a piece of Sahara Sand that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The “flowers” are from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set (also from Sale-A-Bration) and are stamped in Tangerine Tango and punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. For the greeting I use the stamp from the first Paper Pumpkin kit and stamped it in Island Indigo. It is punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch and adhered to the embossed piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals along with the “flowers”. I really like the stamp from the Paper Pumpkin Set, it has that casual feel to it. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team Card for this week’s sketch challenge. Don’t forget to see what the other designers have come up with over at the Paper Craft Crew blog. Thank you for checking in and I hope you have an awesome day!

Control Freaks March Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello and welcome to the March Control Freaks Blog Tour. This time around the theme is Spring! Boy could I use some spring right about now! Tomorrow is the first day of Spring but we had snow here on Long Island yesterday. Like I said… so ready for Spring!

If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the super creative Lisa Martz’s blog. She always has some fantastic stuff to share doesn’t she?! This month I have three projects for you, two cards and a candy jar.

The first of my cards is simple but I love the way it looks. I often need cards that can make the long journey over to England where most of my family is. A one layer card always fits the bill. The base of the card is Pool Party Card Stock. I cut a piece of Very Vanilla to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and stamped all of my images on it. The jar is from the Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set that was carried over from the 2012 Holiday Catalog and it is stamped in Pool Party. The greeting is from the Make a Wish Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I stamped the hearts from the Oh, Whale! Stamp Set in Pool Party and Calypso Coral, stamping off some of them. I love the random hearts and the jar, they remind me of fireflies! Stamping off is a nice simple yet fun way to give a one dimensional card a little depth.

For my second card I wanted to showcase the new Photopolymer Stamp Set. The base of this card is Primrose Petals Card Stock. I stamped some images from the Make a Cake Stamp Set in Primrose Petals, using the cake that I stamped in Raspberry Ripple to line up the little banner. The Happy Birthday banner is from the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set. The banner stamp itself is straight but you can bend it when you mount them to your clear block and that’s what I did. It’s stamped in Raspberry Ripple and the letters in Primrose Petals. I used my Paper Snips to cut them out and they are mounted to the card with leftover Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. The cake is also mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The best part about the Photopolymer Set is that you can see exactly where you are going to stamp making it great for alphabets, easy to line up every time!

My last project is a little jar with some jellybeans inside. I wrapped some Tea for Two Designer Series Fabric around the middle of the jar and adhered it with some Sticky Strip. A piece of Tea Lace Paper Doily was adhered to the fabric with some SNAIL before I attached it. The little chick is from the Everybunny Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers. A Stampin’ Dimensional holds it in place. On the top of the jar I punched a piece of Whisper White with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered it to the jar with some Mini Glue Dots. The rolled rose is made by punching a piece of Calypso Coral with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and cutting in a spiral with my Paper Snips. After you roll it up some hot glue keeps it from unwinding. I punched some Lucky Limeade with the 1″ Circle Punch for the leaves and some more Mini Glue Dots hold it all on top. The flag is a piece of Whisper White and I used the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set for Taylor, stamped in Calypso Coral. The Happy Easter is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is also stamped in Calypso Coral. For the egg I used the Itty Bitties Stamp Set and stamped it in Chocolate Chip. The flag is wrapped around a skewer and held closed with Sticky Strip. The butterfly is cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit from Calypso Coral. A little fabric, card stock and some stamps make a fun way to dress up a plain glass container.

Another fun filled Monday… how about you? I fixed an iPhone back cover last night, always fun! It snowed here again, we got about an inch. I really am so ready for spring. If any of you have some extra warm weather that you could send this way please do so! Thanks! 🙂

It’s Tuesday so that means it’s time for another Mojo Monday Sketch. This week we have a very different sketch from Julee Tilman…

I wanted to use some more of the Sale-A-Bration goodies before it ends in just three short days. Better get those last minute orders in before it’s too late! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a plain piece of Sahara Sand. I used a piece of the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper on the right side and covered it with strips of Island Indigo that I embossed with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A piece of 7/8″ Natural Trim Ribbon goes across the middle and is adhered around the back with Sticky Strip. The corners are made by punching a piece of Summer Starfruit with the 1″ Square Punch and cutting it in half. I stamped it with the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set in Summer Starfruit and some SNAIL holds them in each corner. The greeting is from the Dude, You’re Welcome Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party and cut out with a Sizzix Circle Framelit. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two little tickets from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set are punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and one of the buttons form the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack, threaded with some Whisper White Bakers Twine, holds them in place with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I think the greeting works well with the Sycamore Street DSP and the card would work for a man or a woman. I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card. Thank you for checking in and I hope that you have a great day! Don’t forget to send some of that warm weather… Thanks!

Paper Players #137 :-)

Hello there! Wow! That was a long day yesterday! I went to bed at 12:00am, got up at 3:00am, went to the airport, drove into the city, napped from 5:00am to 6:30am and then ran around the city until 5:30pm. To cap it off it snowed almost the whole day! I got home around 6:20pm and me and the child went to Panera for dinner. I’m a little tired still! I hope you all had a good day yesterday.

Sunday already… that means it’s time for another Paper Players Challenge. This week we have cool sketch from the amazing Ann…

Paper Players #137 Sketch 3-17-2013

I have been wanting to use the Swallowtail Stamp from the Spring Catalog as a background and I thought this would be the perfect card for it. The base of my card is Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. I stamped the Swallowtail Stamp in Raspberry Ripple on a piece of Very Vanilla. Before I adhered the panel to the card I used some Sticky Strip to adhere the piece of Raspberry Ripple 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back. Some Vellum Card Stock (I have been quite into Vellum lately!) Is punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch and embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I punched some butterflies out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch from some Raspberry Ripple and adhered them to the Vellum with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A Mini Glue Dot is the strategically placed behind each one to “invisibly” hold them to the card. The greeting is from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones add a little bling and finish off the card. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Clean and Simple Sketch from Ann. Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards over at the Paper Players blog. Thank you very much for stopping by, I hope that you have a lovely Sunday!
