Mojo 360 & Bonus!

A very happy Thursday to all of my faithful blog readers! We are almost at the end of another week! I made yesterday a better day all around and it was made even better when I got home, I’ll get to that in a minute! I got what I wanted to get accomplished at work and smiled my way through the day. I took my own advice, it helped that I got to run a little errand and enjoy the convertible too! When I got home last night I sat down to go through Pinterest and guess what?! Let’s start today’s post off with my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

Tall and Skinny, we know how I love those! I wanted a clean but fun card so this is what I came up with. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. My background consists of a piece of Smoky Slate on the left and Lost Lagoon on the right. The panel in the middle begins with a piece of Soft Sky that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered to the card with SNAIL. On top of that is a piece of Whisper White with some All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut out the center and adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The “snow” and the snowflake are cut out in Silver Foil Sheet and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using the Snowflake Card Thinlits. I mounted the silver “snow” to the woodgrain with itty bitty pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals and then used some Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere the Dazzling Diamonds on top but slightly lower. A strip of Silver Foil Sheet with a thin strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper goes across the lower portion and the snowflakes are adhered on top of one another to that. A few of the snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins are randomly adhered to the woodgrain and three of the silver ones in the lower right corner. I really love all of the sparkle with the blues and how the center panel just comes alive! The card has a lot of detail but I think was well worth it! Now on to my card for the Control Freaks 2014 Holiday Catalog swap. I was siting in the Stampin’ Galley trying to think what I was going to make for my swap card. I was doing my usual taking out and putting back of goodies when I came across the Mustache Framelit. As I looked at it I started to see a mask. I then tried a few different ways to cut out the eye holes and settled on the tiny oval that comes with the Chalk Talk Framelits. The base of the card is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Tangelo Twist. I used the Confetti Stars Border Punch along the top edge before adhering it to the base. The mask is the Mustache Framelit. I stamped one of the feathers from the Four Feathers Stamp Set in Versa-Mark on Vellum Card Stock and heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Feathers Framelits are used to cut it and a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper out and a Glue Dot holds them to the back of the mask. I adhered the mask with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the greeting is from the Holiday Invitation Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I love the colors and the “mask” is just really neat! I think it would make a pretty cool Halloween party invite!

Paper Craft Crew 107 & The Puppies

Mid week, yes, it’s nice to be here again. My day was all sorts of fun! LOL! Not really but what can ya do?! I found that rolling with it is a much better way to go than, well, all of the other ways one could go. I try to apply that to everything in my life, but sometimes it just doesn’t work. Life is all about experiences and learning and growing from them. I am successful most of the time but there is always one that I get caught up on. I’m getting better, but there is still work that needs to be done. Sorry about that, just a little stream of consciousness that slipped out! On a happier and lighter note here is that picture of Kim with all of the puppies!

Aren’t they just adorable! Yes, Kim too! LOL! Daisy is the mom and then the dad is there and the two sons. One big happy family! They do so love Kim, their favorite thing to do is sit on her!

Hmm… let’s see… Wednesday… ahh yes, it Paper Craft Crew sketch time! Here is this week’s inspiration for you…

I didn’t follow it exactly but I did stay pretty true to it. For my base I used a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is two different pieces of paper from the Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. I used the Striped Scallop Thinlit to cut out some Gold Foil Sheet and adhered it to the background with some Multi-Purpose Glue. A strip of Calypso Coral with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Baker’s Twine covers up the seam and top of the scallop. My greeting is from the Chalk Talk Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green and Calypso Coral. I used the Chalk Talk Framelits and the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch to cut them out. A piece of Pistachio Pudding cut out with the Oval Collection Framelits goes behind it and all of the layers are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the scallop pattern in the DSP mimics the Striped Scallop and is seen again in the DSP on the top half. Wonderful Wisteria Lagoon Wreath and Manhattan!

Well the rain held out all day yesterday and I had a lovely day in Manhattan! I got in around 8:10am and parked on 90th. For my walk over to the West Side through Central Park I popped in my headphones, it makes me walk faster which if you know anyone that has walked with me in the city is way too fast! LOL! I stopped along the Reservoir and snapped a few pictures. You can see how overcast it was but the sun did peek out a few times. You also don’t realize how big the Reservoir is until you walk around it! It looks more like a lake!

Pretty huge huh?! Much to Kim’s dismay I got to her around 8:45 instead of my estimated 10:00! LOL! I’m early for everything and she knows this but still doesn’t appreciate it! We had some coffee and then I realized that I forgot my wallet in my car. I have an aversion to wallets for some unknown reason and I tend to leave it in my backpack or car. I used to leave it at home but Andrew fixed that for me! Kim suggested that we walk back over and have breakfast at the diner that way I could get my wallet, sounded great to me so we did just that! After breakfast we wandered around and passed by this new cupcake shop called Sprinkles. From across the street we noticed that they had a Cupcake ATM!! WHAT!! Needless to say we ran over to it and I had to give it a try! You can see from the pictures my silly excitement at the prospect of a little door opening and revealing a delicious treat!!

It was Red Velvet and it was DELICIOUS! I split it with Kim and she agreed that it was quite tasty! We will be visiting the Cupcake ATM again don’t worry about that! LOL!

Now on to the crafty part of the post. I was running through card ideas in my head on the way home and I thought that Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon might look nice together so I gave it a try! My card base for today is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Lost Lagoon and I heat embossed the sentiment from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My smoky Slate piece is cut on the bottom with the Ovals Collection Framelits for an interesting curve. The wreath is also from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon. I heat embossed the bow with more Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and used the Wonderful Wreath Framelits* to cut them out. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to the card and a few of the Frosted Sequins* are adhered around the wreath with Multi-Purpose Glue. I actually really love the colors together and as many of you know I’m not a red and green holiday type of guy! I also like using the Oval to cut away part of the panel, odd but sort of cool! Pals Paper Arts 216

That was a nice Friday. Work was manageable and after I came home and crafted for a bit and then watched a little TV. I needed to unwind a bit. The week was a busy one but always worth it. This morning I’m off to see my friend Kim in Manhattan, hopefully the weather with hold out. It was supposed to rain here yesterday but it was just really cloudy. They say that it should clear up around mid-day if it does rain so that’s not too bad. Kim is puppy sitting at a friends on the west side so I’m hoping that I will be able to walk across Central Park. The last time I did that was with Andrew and it was dark and a little on the creepy side! What kinds of things do you all have going on this weekend?!

I decided that today would be Pals Paper Arts day. This week they have cooked up a fun sketch…

Pretty simple but I had some fun with it! The card base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Kraft Card Stock that I covered the entire card front with. The two panels are Whisper White on top and a piece of paper from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack on the bottom. I ran a piece of Hello Honey through the Big Shot with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit and used my Paper Snips to trim away some of it to make the strip. The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set and is stamped in Blushing Bride on Blushing Bride, I stamped it one last time in Hello Honey on Hello Honey for the center that I cut out with my Paper Snips. I punched both of the flowers out with the Fun Flower Punch and stacked them on top of one another with Stampin’ Dimensionals.Behind the flower is a piece of Mossy Meadow that I cut out with the Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die. Finally, my greeting is from the Honeycomb Hello Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on a piece of Whisper White that was left over from a previous Hexagon Hive. I love that just making the center of the flower a different color makes it look much more realistic and the way that Kraft somewhat grounds everything. Mojo 358

Happy Thursday! It rained a lot here on Tuesday night, some places got 13 inches in a few hours. There was a lot of flooding, I had a little puddle in front of my door inside but our poor friend Fred had a full 2 inches of water in his apartment. So many of the roads were flooded that some of my co-workers sat in their cars for over 3 hours waiting for them to get things moving. The news said that it was worse than Hurricane Sandy as far as the rain went. Weather is just really odd around here lately. Around 1:00PM the skies cleared up and the sun was out for the rest of the day. Hopefully it helped dry up some of the harder hit areas.

Now as for Andrew’s little post yesterday, I knew which one of the choices would be the most popular! LOL! I will tell you that the knee feels much better today, I can actually touch it. But if it’s not much better by Friday you may get your wish! LOL! Stay tuned!

I got a nice surprise in the mail today! When I was at Convention I went to Starbucks with my friend Eva and while we were there I bought a Salt Lake City mug. She asked if I collected them and I said yes. Well guess what my surprise was?! Here it is…

How cool is that?!?! Thank you so much Eva!! That was so sweet of you! I’ll bet that my coffee will taste much better tomorrow morning having it from my new Starbucks mug!! I just noticed that the hands on the Catalog look like they are holding the mug! Pretty neat! 🙂

I don’t know what it is with me and shaker cards lately! I hadn’t made one in forever and now I have made about five! LOL! I did use some new goodies from the Holiday Catalog too, loving all of it! The base for today’s card is Smoky Slate Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of paper from the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper* Pack along the bottom and across the seam is a piece of the All is Calm Designer Washi Tape*. They are adhered to a piece of Lost Lagoon and that is adhered to the base with SNAIL. The frame is cut out from a piece of Smoky Slate, the window with the Squares Collection Framelits. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet behind the square and behind that is another piece of paper from the All is Calm DSP Pack. Before I put the shaker together I added some of the snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins*. The snowflake on the window, the smaller one and the snow are all cut out with the Snowflake Card Thinlits* from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. A piece of Lost Lagoon is flagged on both ends and serves as the backdrop for the small snowflake and snow. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the shaker. I really love Lost Lagoon, I think it is my favorite blue ever and what better paper for snow that the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer?! SUO Challenges 103

Oh, it was a typical Monday, busy day at work, nothing exciting when I got home. I did manage to smack my knee again today and my friend Francis made me fill out an accident report and told me that I need to go and have it looked at. Hmm… where will I find the time to do that?! Not to whine but it really does bother me and I think there is a good chance that I broke something. Does the ER make house calls?! I will give it a few more days and then I if it still bothers me I may have to break down and get it checked. Can you tell that I never go to the Dr.?! I did have some crafty time last night and I made a card for my Sister-in-law, it’s her Birthday today! Happy Birthday Erika! I’ll share the card that I made her tomorrow. 🙂

My little post that I have for you today is for the SUO Challenges blog. This time around we ask you to think geometrical. My card is simple but it I do love the one element that I used on it. I think it gives a lot of oomph to it! My card begins with a base of Hello Honey Card Stock. For the background I cut a piece of adhesive cork sheet with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit and adhered it to the base. A few black ones cut out with the same die are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Hexagon Hello Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Very Vanilla pieces that are also cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the cork. I absolutely love the depth that the cork give the hive, it almost looks like little bees could crawl right in there! Like I said a simple card but the cork is so cool! That’s my card for the SUO Challenges Design Team and I hope that you enjoyed it. Paper Players 208

And there goes another weekend! I spent a good part of the day in Manhattan helping out a few friends. I was running around and I didn’t go anywhere new so I didn’t take any pictures. However, I did take a few pictures when I was in PA on Saturday. When I was little and would go there the town was a lot less crowded and there were less houses. There are so many new houses behind my Grandmother’s but when I was standing outside the funeral home and looked across the street I could see clear over to the mountains…

Ringtown

You can see that the houses in the picture are newer, they weren’t there when I was a kid. After we got back from the cemetery we went to this little restaurant for lunch. If you ever happen to be in the Ringtown are and want some food I would highly recommend it. The prices were great, service was excellent and the food was delicious!

And yes, there is a creek the runs along side the place! 🙂

Paper Players #208

I think that the inspiration picture is neat! My card starts off with a base of Basic Gray Card Stock. My background is stamped with the coral from the By the Sea Stamp Set in Hello Honey. The shells are stamped in Basic Gray on Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride and cut out with my Paper Snips. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. The love is a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits and adhered to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. I stamped the You from the Work of Art Stamp Set in Blushing Bride and some gray iridescent sequins complete the background. I mounted it to a piece of Hello Honey before adhering it to the base. I love the way that the Love and the You look like they were made for each other. A simple but sweet card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Paper Craft Crew 104

Hello my friends! How are you on our halfway point in the week?! I’m doing ok. Work was nutty again and to make it the perfect day I smashed my knee on the wooden are of a chair and it hurt so much I almost passed out! LOL! Not good, my knee is now twice it’s normal size. FUN! I’m sure that it will be worse by the end of today, sorry to whine but it really hurt! I got to see my brother, sister-in-law and little Daniel for dinner. He really is just the cutest little guy! His little smile made me forget all about my knee! Here is a little selfie of us…

PCCCS104 Sketch 8-06-2014

I went for nice and clean with fun colors! The base of my card is Soft Sky Card Stock and I stamped one of the stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Tangerine Tango twice on it. My fun hexagons are Tangerine Tango and are cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits. I Adhered them to a piece of Vellum Card Stock and then trimmed off the excess before adhering them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. The banners are Tangerine Tango and are punched out with the Banner Punch. Both the greeting and the banners are also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the Tangerine Tango and the Soft Sky together with the pop of Early Espresso. I also like the way the hexagons float thanks to the Vellum! That’s my deign team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge, I hope that you enjoyed it! Groovy Pictogram Hive Love

Well, it’s here, Saturday or as it’s known to me the big moving day. I was so tired at work yesterday that I think I dozed off at my desk for a few minutes a few times! Oops! The graduation was packed last night and the way they had it set up you couldn’t get close enough to take a picture. But I do have this picture of my Brother and little Daniel.

As you can see I am clearly the better looking one out of the two of us! LOL! But seriously, I can’t stand how cute that little guy is! So back to today, Fred will be here at 8:00 and Andrew… well… Andrew is not a morning person but I have hope that he will be here early! My goal is to get almost everything else over there, Fred would like to be finished. I will let you know what happens tomorrow! The most important thing is to set up my new craft space, I have a few ideas as to what I’m going to do and you’ll see them soon.

So when I got home last night I decided to make a card that has been floating around in my head for a while. I just wasn’t sure what colors I wanted to use. Well I finally decided so out it came and here it is. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock. My background is a piece of Hello Honey. I cut out some Baked Brown Sugar with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit and then cut out a piece of that with the Circles Collection Framelits. Some 2-Way Glue and SNAIL adhere it to the background. My greeting is form the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I adhered the panel to my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The heart is from the Groovy Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red and punched out with the Sweetheart Punch. I used the What’s Up punch and some Gold Foil Sheet to punch out an arrow, cut in half and adhered it behind the heart and then Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the heart to the card. Some more Gold Foil Sheet is punched out with the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and adhered in the middle of the greeting. Finally I adhered a few 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins, the Baked Brown Sugar hearts to be exact, on the hive to finish off the card. A somewhat bold color combination but I really like it! You’ll have to let me know what you think of it in the comments! Thanks for sharing a little time with me today and I hope that you have a stress free Saturday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 209

TGIF people! This has been a long busy week. I’ll be glad when it’s all over and that will hopefully be on Sunday! Yesterday it was quite hot and humid here but my friend Fred and I left work at 2:00 and got my dad’s truck and started to move the bigger things over to the new apartment. Andrew joined us around 4:00, the more the merrier right?! We got a lot more done that I thought we would which is a great thing! Around 6:30 Fred went home and Andrew and I stayed at the new place and organized it a little. Tonight I won’t get much done, Taylor is graduating from high school and that starts at 6:00pm. I’ll see what else I can get accomplished after that and we will be back at it bright and early at 8:00am tomorrow morning. I feel good about the progress though!

Last night I came home and had some crafty wind down time by making my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 209

I stared the card off with a base of Pistachio Pudding Card Stock. Some Mossy Meadow is cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit Die and creates the background. The tilted panel begins with some Daffodil Delight to back a piece of paper from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. I cut out a piece of Lost Lagoon with the Circles Collection Framelits and used the Essentials Paper-Piercing pack to pierce around the edge. My greeting is from the Oh My Goodies Stamp Set and is stamped in Lost Lagoon and cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. I was thinking that it needed a little something across the bottom of the main panel but then I decided to leave it nice and simple because simple is a good thing sometimes! I love the way the Mossy Meadow and Pistachio Pudding look together, they compliment each other nicely don’t you think?! So there you have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. The crafting and all of you help keep me balanced and sane! LOL!
