Cards from Class – Watercolor 101

What a fun day yesterday at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store! Renee had her crop and I got to see all of my ladies! I was helping my friend Peggy stamp some Altenew flowers with the MISTI and she told everyone to come over and watch! They were all amazed! Lots of MISTI’s and Altenew Stamps sold yesterday! Showing people easy ways to get awesome results and be creative, that’s definitely my favorite part of the store! I left to go home at 5:00 and had Chinese with my Parents. After that I came home and vegged on the couch for a bit and then ran a few errands. What a nice Saturday!

Today I have the cards that we made for the Watercolor 101 Class at the Store! The first one uses Tim Holtz Watercolor Card. I heat embossed the Hero Arts Antique Rose Stem Wood Mount Stamp and the greeting from the Concord & 9th Beautiful Words Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder. Both cards use Gansai Tambi Watercolors. For this card we just straight up added color to the image using a water brush. Simple and a good way to get use to the way to pick up color with the brush. The second card uses images from the Altenew Lotus Photopolymer Stamp Set and Arches 140lb Cold Pressed Paper. I heat embossed just the outlines along with the greeting from the Altenew Sentiments & Quotes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Copper Embossing Powder again. This time we did a wet on wet technique. They added water to the petals and then added color to the base of the petal, allowing the color to leech out into the rest of the wet area. Once they did all of the petals they came back in with a wet brush and pulled the color out from the base and then did the same for the leaf. They all love the second technique, it does give a much more realistic look than the first one. They also saw the difference between the Arches and Tim Holtz Paper. The Arches Paper is a thicker much higher quality paper and makes coloring much easier. I had a lot of fun teaching the class and all of the students said they felt a lot more comfortable watercoloring! I hope that you enjoyed seeing the cards that we made in class! Mojo Monday 459

The last of the headache from Saturday finally went away Sunday morning. That was a long one! It was a rainy overcast day here yesterday, still humid though. The Stamp, Ink, Paper Store was great as always! Renee had the Scrap Happy Sisters there to teach a class and my friend Sandy stopped by! Love my Sandy! I don’t get to see her as much as I would like to! She picked up some new crafty goodness, can’t wait to see what she makes with it! After work I stopped by my Parent’s and my Brother, Erika, Daniel and Tristan showed up. They were on their way back from PA. I visited with them for a bit before heading over to Brian and Kim’s for her brother Kevin’s Birthday. He got lots of stuff and was a very happy boy! Adam and Erin were there and Heather came by later on. Love my peeps! When I got home I put the finishing touches on my card for today and watched a little TV before calling it a night. Today, lots to do as always, but all good stuff!

How do we love to start a Monday… why with a new Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

I went with a little bit of a different color combo for today’s card! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of My Colors Classic Cherry. The background is a piece of paper from the DCWV Maps, Text and Ledgers Paper Pad. I cut it to 4″ wide and then cut an 1/8th of an inch out of the middles and adhered them to the card with E-Z Runner. I heat embossed the images from the Altenew Botanical Garden Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder onto a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card and used my Sakura Koi Pocket Field Sketch Box Watercolors to color them in. They are cut out with the Coordinating Dies and adhered to a piece of Black 110lb with Multi-Matte Medium and Foam Tape that is then adhered to the card with E-Z Runner and Fun Foam. My greeting is from the Altenew Sentiments & Quotes Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in gold onto another piece of Classic Cherry. I flagged the right and adhered it to the card with Foam Tape. Some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins are added and the card is done! I love the Botanical Garden Stamps, espceaily watercolored and heat embossed! I also like the unusual mix of the deep red with the fun paper and bright yellow flower! Freshly Made Sketches 247

Oh, and a very happy Friday to you! What a nice day I had yesterday! Peeps stopped by the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store to get their orders and Renee had her wood home decor project class. They made a beach ball to replace the “o” in home. It’s a really cute project! Angie was at the store today too which is always fun! She is a bad influence as we had Wendy’s for lunch! After work I headed straight over to Heather’s for Thirsty Thursday. She made me dinner, a nice salad, and we chatted about the day. After a while she decided that she needed to go to Walmart. I got an aromatherapy diffuser that was 19.88 but rang up $158.98! WHAT?! Someone keyed in that price wrong! After a discussion with the manager I got it for $19.88 (which really was the correct price) she was convinced that it was more! This morning I have a haircut with my Jessica and then it’s off to the store to work on the rest of my cards for this month’s card class. I finished one today and I love the way it came out! Oh, while I was at the store yesterday I decided to give freehand watercoloring a try and this is what I came up with…

I’m pretty pleased with it! Can’t wait to do some more!

I made my card at the store again yesterday! This one is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock cut to 3 1/2″ wide. I took a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card and used Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles Distress Ink and a Waterbrush to add color. After it was dry I heat embossed the leaves from the Hero Arts You’re So Lovely Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder and then used the Lawn Fawn Heart Stackables Lawn Cuts to cut it out. It’s adhered to the card with Dot Runner Adhesive. My flowers are from the same set and are stamped in Dark Quartz and Butter Bar, they are cut out with the Coordinating Frame Cuts and adhered to the heart with Dot Runner and Foam Tape. The greeting is from the Love Stamp & Cut Photopolymer Stamp Set, I die cut the love from a piece of Black 80lb and then coated it in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it in more Copper Embossing Powder. Some more Dot Runner and Foam Tape adheres it to the card. It needed a little something so I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Tangerine and Marigold and SIP Copper Sequins. I love the usual mix of colors and the Copper Embossing makes a nice change from Gold, wouldn’t you say?! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Mojo Monday 458

Of we go into another week! My weekend was great! My friend Barbara came out to the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store to visit! We had Panera for lunch and then hung out at the store. Around 4:30 we headed out, I wanted to stop home and drop off my bags. When we got to the house my Brother, Erika, Daniel and Tristen were at my parents! I finally got a peek at the new baby! Barbara got to meet everyone including Winston. From there we made our way into Manhattan, lots of traffic as always on a Sunday evening. By the time I found a parking space it was 7:00. Barbara and I said our goodbyes and I headed over to see Kim Doi. Once there I spoke to Michael for a bit and so did Kim. I helped Kim with her new rug and some electronics goodies that she had gotten and then we went out for Mexican food. The place we ate at was called Oaxaca Taqueria on 1st and 64th. The food was excellent and I haven’t had really good Mexican in a while! After dinner we went back to Kim’s and I shared my latest YouTube obsession, Troy Miller, with her. Watching him just make me smile! I started to head back to the car around 11:40. There was a big accident by Laguardia so that delayed me a little but I still made it home by 12:45 and I got to do one of my favorite things, drive back home from the city with the top down at night in my car! Today I have to get all of my orders in for the new Holiday goodies that are coming out! Fun!

The best way to start off a new week is with a new Mojo Monday Sketch…

Today’s card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The first layer of my background is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. My piece of patterned paper is from the Dear Lizzy Documentary 6×6 Paper Pad. I backed it with a piece of Black 110lb and adhered that to the card. Another piece of paper from the same pad is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. The two banners are Pistachio Pudding and Daffodil Delight and my triangle is Sweet Sugarplum that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames Lawn Cuts. The banners and triangle are adhered to the card with Foam Tape. My butterfly is from the Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Butterflies Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed it onto a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. The image is colored in with my Gansai Tambi Watercolors and the body is stamped in Onyx Black. I used the dies to cut them both out and adhered the butterfly to the card with another piece of Foam Tape. Right before I adhered the butterfly I stamped the greeting in Onyx Black. A little sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh Pink Peony, Tangerine and Lemon Drop Sequins completes the card! I love my Gansai Tambi Watercolors, they have such a nice rich pigment to them and I think they really make the butterfly pop! Paper Players 304

Ahh… Thursday! What a nice day I had yesterday! The weather was perfect, in the low 80’s, the top was definitely down in the car! Renee and I had a fun day at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store. We both got a lot accomplished and I feel a little bit more caught up! When I got home I had my dinner and then ran out and got gas in the car. When I got back to my house I had another conference call with my friend Greg. I love talking to him, such a great person! As I retreated to the Stampin’ Gallery my friend Sue called and I was on the phone with her for the rest of the evening. We got all caught up! Today I have my Ink Blended Backgrounds Class at the store! I’m looking forward to that!

The Paper Players have a fun watercolor challenge this week…

I have been wanting to use my Finetec Watercolors again, perfect challenge! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The background is a piece of Super Gold Curious Metallic Card Stock. I heat embossed all of my images and greeting from the Hero Arts Christmas Crystals Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder on a piece of Black 110lb. They are all colored in with the Finetec Metallic Watercolors. Some Tombo Extreme Adhesive adheres the panel to the card, it’s my favorite adhesive to use, especially when you are mounting a watercolored or heat embossed piece that has a little warping. I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins and some Wood Veneer Stars to finish the card. I do love those Fintec Watercolors, they have such great coverage and are perfect for using on dark cardstock! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Player Challenge! Paper Players 303

A very happy Friday to you my friends! It was a muggy one here yesterday! The Stamp, Ink, Paper Store was filled with happy people making their cards at the July Card Class featuring Reverse Confetti! We do have so much fun! Andrew and Kayleigh were back! So great to see them both! I had Blaze pizza for lunch and finished it for dinner. Right around 6:00PM it rained and thundered and lightening for about 30 minutes and that actually made the humidity worse. It was a drive home with the AC on kind of evening! I stopped by Heather’s for Thursday Thursday and Stephanie and Brian were there. Around 11:00 Heather had a craving for White Castle so her, Stephanie and I put the top down in the car and went to get some. We drove around like teenagers with the music up nice and high! When I got home around 12:30 I settled in to make a quick card for today. What makes me think that heat embossing and watercoloring is quick I’ll never know! LOL! Today we have the second day of card class and this morning I’m going to visit Taylor, her tonsillectomy went well but she misses her dad!

That “quick” card that I made last night is for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used my Mini Ink Blending Tool to apply some Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card. It’s flicked with some water and then blotted with a paper towel. To give it a little more interest I cut it out with the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Stackables Lawn Cuts and adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. My flower is from the Altenew Beautiful Lady Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Ranger Platinum Embossing Powder onto another piece of Watercolor Card. I used Picked Raspberry and Evergreen Bough Distress Inks and a Water Brush to color it in. The Coordinating Die is used to cut it out and it’s adhered to the card with Foam Tape and Dot Runner. My greeting is from the same set and is also heat embossed in Platinum. I flagged the right and tucked the left side under the stem. Some Hazel and Ruby The Makery Sparkle & Shine Sequins and a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins are added and the card is done! I do love that water spotted background and the flower from the Altenew Beautiful Lady Set is just gorgeous! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Color Challenge! Sue’s Birthday Card!

Hello my friends! How is your week going? Mine is pretty busy but we all know that I like it like that! LOL! Yesterday Sue came by the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store to help me out for a while. We unpacked and got orders put out and ordered more stuff! Renee had her Christmas Card Club and her peeps stopped by to make their cards and pick up some goodies from me! After work I stopped by Heather’s and picked up something that I had left there this morning when I stopped by for breakfast! Then I came home and had a little dinner with my Parents. After dinner I spent some time working on a few projects in the Stampin’ Galley, yes, I can never get enough craftiness in my day! LOL! Starting tomorrow I have some VERY exciting things to share with you! You won’t want to miss it some make sure that you come by! I’m a little giddy about it so you know it has to be good!

In honor of Sue’s visit to the store I have her Birthday card from last week to share with you today! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My flowers are from the Altenew Botanical Garden Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the main flower in Hero Arts Intense Black Ink onto a piece of Canson 140lb Watercolor Card using my Mini MISTI. I did a few times to make sure that I got a nice dark clean image. To color it in I used my Gansai Tambi Watercolors and a Waterbrush. In between layers I used my Heat Tool to dry the layers and when I was finished I used the Coordinating Dies to cut it out. On the card front I stamped another image from the set twice to serve as a subtle background. My frame is a piece of Gold Mirror Card that I cut out using the Spellbinders Triple Tear Nestabilities Die. A little Multi-Matte Medium Holds the frame in place and some Foam Tape adheres the die cut flower to the card. My greeting is from the Altenew Painted Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also stamped in Intense Black. Finally some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear, Gold and Raspberry Sequins are added around the flower for some more shine! I do love the simple feel to the card and the way the watercolor flower just leaps off the front! I hope that you enjoyed Sue’s Birthday as much as she did! Paper Craft Crew 194

Happy Hump Day peeps! I trust that your week is going well! Mine is not too bad. I went to meet Bill at BJ’s this morning to help with something and then came home and stopped by my Parent’s to have lunch. After that I came back to my house and crafted for a bit. I spoke to Sue and her and I are going to go on a little adventure today! Taylor stopped by, she has to have her tonsils out in July, nothing like making someone wait! I also spoke to Michael for a bit and we got caught up! Sandy came by around 6:30 and we went out to dinner to the Noodle Shop. I have been wanting to try it for a while and I must say that we both enjoyed it! I also got a ride in her gorgeous new car, there are so many electronic goodies in there I could spend hours exploring it all! I hope that I can get my morning errands done in time to get back and watch the store for Renee at 2:00! Wish me luck!

Today I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s challenge…

I have been using flowers a lot lately and thought that I didn’t have any new ones, I was wrong! My card starts off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Concord & 9th By Your Side Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder onto a piece of Desert Storm 80lb and then adhered it to the card with Tombo Extreme Adhesive. To create my flower panel I traced around the inside of one of the Lawn Fawn Stitched Ovals with a pencil and then heat embossed the flowers and stems from the Concord & 9th Shine Brighter Photopolymer Stamp Set with more Copper Embossing Powder onto a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card. I stamped an extra stem and flower on a another piece of Watercolor Card and then used my Gansai Tambi Watercolors to color them in. Once they dried I cut out the pair with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Ovals Lawn Cuts and the single flower with the Coordinating Shine Brighter Dies. The extra stem is cut out with my Scissors and adhered to the oval with Multi-Matte Medium. I used some Foam Tape to adhere the flower and then some more Tombo Extreme to adhere the oval to the card. A generous sprinkling of Copper Sequins and the card is done! I really do love the Copper Embossing Powder and the Gansai Tambi Watercolors are definitely my favorite! Happy Mother’s Day!!

Yes, a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of you out there! I hope that you all have a lovely day planned with your families! My Mum is going over to my brother’s to celebrate with Daniel and I’m off to Manhattan this morning! Yesterday we actually did get to see the sun for a little while after a gloomy start to the day. It came out just in time for my little ride over to Scrap-A-Latte to visit Renee and the hardcore croppers there for National Scrapbook Day! There was a little food left over from lunch so that’s what I had for dinner! Yummy Italian fare! In the morning I helped out my upstairs neighbor with his new dash-cam that he got for his car. He said how do you know how to do all of this?! I said, I don’t know, I just do! LOL! So it was a nice day yesterday and will be another nice one today!

Last night when I sat down to make my Mum her card I wanted to capture all of the things that she likes. That’s why there are flowers and another butterfly on today’s card! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. My background is a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card. I stamped the flowers from the Concord & 9th Wildflowers Photopolymer Stamp Set in Onyx Black, masking off the largest flower. The flowers are then colored in with my Gansai Tambi Watercolors and the panel is adhered to the card with Tombo Extreme Adhesive. The butterfly is also cut from Watercolor Card using the Concord & 9th Floral & Flutter Die and colored with the same watercolors. I colored in the body with my Memento Tuxedo Black Marker. The greeting is two parts. The beautiful is cut from Black 110lb twice with the Concord & 9th Beautiful You Die and adhered together with Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. I dipped the bottom half into Versa-Mark and then heat embossed some Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder onto it. It’s adhered to the card with Multi-Matte Medium and the butterfly with Foam Tape. The second part of the greeting is from the Concord & 9th Beautiful Words Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Onyx Black right under the beautiful. I added some Pretty Pink Posh Gold and Enchanted Garden Sequins and fluffed up the butterfly wings to complete the card! I absolutely love that butterfly and the sketch look of it along with the fun flowers! I think that Mum will really like the card and I hope that you do too! Mojo Monday 446

I had a nice relaxing day yesterday! It felt good to do not too much! I did get my laundry done and managed to get a card made too. Other than that I spent some time watching YouTube and some TV too. It rained all day so it made you not want to do much. I think that it’s supposed to be rainy all week. Hopefully Spring will make a comeback soon! I miss it! Today I have a bunch of projetcs to get through and some other things to do around the house! Today will not be a lazy day! 😀

It’s Monday and that means that it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

Today’s card has lots of gold on it! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. For the background I heat embossed the Hero Arts Confetti Bold Prints with some Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto a piece of Desert Storm 80lb and adhered that to the card with E-Z Runner. My greeting, from the Concord & 9th Being Classy Photopolymer Stamp Set, is heat embossed in more Gold onto a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card. I then used my Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink to add color to the paper blending it to an Ombre look. Along the bottom I adhered a piece of Gold Mirror Card Stock that used the Concord & 9th Bags and Tags Die along the bottom of. The panel is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. My flowers are from the Concord & 9th Wildflower Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Onyx Black onto another piece of Watercolor Card. I used my Gansai Tambi Watercolors to color them in and was pleasantly surprised that they didn’t cover up any of the black ink! They are cut out with my Scissors and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. A little sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins and the card is finished! I love the sentiment panel with the ink blending and the coloring on the flowers is pretty neat! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge!
