Memorable Apothecary Thoughts Special Occasion

Hello there! Even though the weekend was a three day one for me it still seemed to fly. I did get a lot accomplished and spent some time relaxing and seeing friends. I got to watch the two little munchkins Izzy and Savannah yesterday and then went back over for a BBQ in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day here, not too hot and nice and sunny. All in all a very nice weekend indeed. Now if only we could get a three day weekend every week! LOL!

Today I have a card and frame that I made for a friend at work. It’s his parent’s 60th wedding anniversary. Wow! 60 years together, that’s quite an incredible feat. He asked if I could make him a card for them, he said that he hear that I made nice cards. I said that I would be happy to. I also got to scan in their wedding album and there was this photo that I saw and I knew that I wanted to do something to it. I knew just what I was going to do too.

For the card I started with a base of Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock and rounded the bottom corners. The stamped image is from the Apothecary Art Stamp Set and is stamped three times, once in Costal Cabana*, again in Crisp Cantaloupe* and one more time in Smokey Slate*. The Costal Cabana* one is cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and backed with a piece of Brushed Silver Specialty Card Stock. For the Crisp Cantaloupe* one I fussy cut the wreath out and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Smokey Slate* is just the banner and I heat embossed the greeting from Loving Thoughts Stamp Set with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and adhered it with more Dimensionals. The 60th is from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set and is stamped in Costal Cabana* and fussy cut too. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish the card.

RSB Parent's Anniv Card 2013

The frame has an antiqued silver finish. I printed the photo out on photo paper and then printed it again and just cut out the invitation. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals pop up the invitation to give it some depth. The flowers are just simple ribbon flowers that I picked up at the craft store and individually glued them to the picture. They matched the flowers that were in his mother’s bouquet perfectly. I thought it was a nice way to give the picture some added depth and sentimental value. Below is the whole frame and a close up of the flowers.

The person asked me how much I wanted for the card and I said let it be my gift to your parents. He said that my gift was being kind enough to share my talent with others. I can’t explain how great that made me feel. He really like the card and the frame. I was very to happy to have been able to make such an important card, one that I probably won’t get to make again. I hope that you enjoyed seeing both of the projects and that you are inspired to do something a little different once in a while, it can be a lot of fun! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Control Freaks May Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello everyone and welcome to the Control Freaks Blog Tour for May 2013. The focus this month is on the goodies from the new 2013-2014 Catalog! I’m really liking the new stuff that I have had the chance to play with and my wish list is growing every time I look through the catalog again, and again! If you are following the tour you have arrived here form the incredibly talented Connie Babbert’s blog. She always has such amazing projects! Today I have two cards and a 3D project for you so let’s get to them!

First up is a card that is basically a one layer card. I used the Wildflower Meadow Background Stamp and my Stampin’ Write Markers to color it in. The colors are Gumball Green, Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Primrose Petals. After I stamped the image I used the coordinating Wildflower Meadow Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to perfectly emboss the entire stamped image, how cool is that?! The only thing left to do is to stamp the greeting from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set in Pool Party and mount it to a piece of Pool Party Card Stock. It’s a great stamp/embossing folder combo and markered it has big impact!

Control Freaks May Blog Tour Gee Thanks Card

My second card uses the new Mosaic Madness Stamp Set with the coordinating Punch and Designer Series Paper. The main panel of the card has the border form the Mosaic Madness Stamp Set stamped in Strawberry Slush. The Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper is punched out on the top and bottom with the Mosaic Punch along with the ones on either side which were embossed with the Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and then stamped. The greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set and has the ends flagged. There are some Basic Jewels Rhinestones on the greeting and the mosaics. Everything is stamped in Strawberry Slush which is a new In-Color. I love the monochromatic look of the card and the greeting is one of my favorites form the set.

My last project is a 3D one. I wanted to show off the new In-Colors and I thought that a vase full of flowers would be a good way to do it. All of the flowers are punched out with the Fancy Flower Punch. I used my hot glue gun to assemble them and also to fix the Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons in their center. The tag on the vase also includes the two brand new colors that are added to the color families, Smokey Slate and Soft Sky. The friends is from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set, which is also in the new catalog. I really like the new In-Colors, Costal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush and Smoky Slate is fast becoming a favorite too.

Control Freaks March Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello and welcome to the March Control Freaks Blog Tour. This time around the theme is Spring! Boy could I use some spring right about now! Tomorrow is the first day of Spring but we had snow here on Long Island yesterday. Like I said… so ready for Spring!

If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the super creative Lisa Martz’s blog. She always has some fantastic stuff to share doesn’t she?! This month I have three projects for you, two cards and a candy jar.

The first of my cards is simple but I love the way it looks. I often need cards that can make the long journey over to England where most of my family is. A one layer card always fits the bill. The base of the card is Pool Party Card Stock. I cut a piece of Very Vanilla to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and stamped all of my images on it. The jar is from the Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set that was carried over from the 2012 Holiday Catalog and it is stamped in Pool Party. The greeting is from the Make a Wish Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I stamped the hearts from the Oh, Whale! Stamp Set in Pool Party and Calypso Coral, stamping off some of them. I love the random hearts and the jar, they remind me of fireflies! Stamping off is a nice simple yet fun way to give a one dimensional card a little depth.

Control Freak Blog Tour Jar Card

For my second card I wanted to showcase the new Photopolymer Stamp Set. The base of this card is Primrose Petals Card Stock. I stamped some images from the Make a Cake Stamp Set in Primrose Petals, using the cake that I stamped in Raspberry Ripple to line up the little banner. The Happy Birthday banner is from the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set. The banner stamp itself is straight but you can bend it when you mount them to your clear block and that’s what I did. It’s stamped in Raspberry Ripple and the letters in Primrose Petals. I used my Paper Snips to cut them out and they are mounted to the card with leftover Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. The cake is also mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The best part about the Photopolymer Set is that you can see exactly where you are going to stamp making it great for alphabets, easy to line up every time!

My last project is a little jar with some jellybeans inside. I wrapped some Tea for Two Designer Series Fabric around the middle of the jar and adhered it with some Sticky Strip. A piece of Tea Lace Paper Doily was adhered to the fabric with some SNAIL before I attached it. The little chick is from the Everybunny Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers. A Stampin’ Dimensional holds it in place. On the top of the jar I punched a piece of Whisper White with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered it to the jar with some Mini Glue Dots. The rolled rose is made by punching a piece of Calypso Coral with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and cutting in a spiral with my Paper Snips. After you roll it up some hot glue keeps it from unwinding. I punched some Lucky Limeade with the 1″ Circle Punch for the leaves and some more Mini Glue Dots hold it all on top. The flag is a piece of Whisper White and I used the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set for Taylor, stamped in Calypso Coral. The Happy Easter is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is also stamped in Calypso Coral. For the egg I used the Itty Bitties Stamp Set and stamped it in Chocolate Chip. The flag is wrapped around a skewer and held closed with Sticky Strip. The butterfly is cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit from Calypso Coral. A little fabric, card stock and some stamps make a fun way to dress up a plain glass container.

Control Freaks February Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello everyone and welcome to the February Control Freaks Blog Tour! This month’s tour features projects from the 2013 Spring Catalog. If you are following the tour you have arrived here form the very talented Connie Babbert’s blog. She always has such awesome projects doesn’t she?! I have two projects to share with you today. The first one is a journal an the second one is an album with a matching box.

First up is the journal. I found these white journals in Target in the dollar section a few months ago and I thought it would be perfect to decorate with some Stampin’ Up! goodies! The background is created using some So Saffron Card Stock and the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On top of that is one of the Tea Lace Doilies with a piece of Early Espresso that I cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit. The pinwheels are made from Tea for Two Designer Series Paper. I cut out the squares from the paper and then cut down from the corner and used my Bone Folder to curl them a little. A quick punch with the 1/16″ Circle Punch and a Metallic Brad and they are done. They are held in place with Some Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Made for You Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso, punched out with the Large Oval Punch and backed with a piece of Island Indigo that is punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch. A nice fun spring journal that you could use to jot down thoughts or give as a nice gift to a friend.

Control Freaks Feb Blog Tour Journal

Next up is the album and matching box. The box is made with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool using Not Quite Navy and Daffodil Delight. The top of the box is decorated with a background of Daffodil Delight that I stamped with the Netting Background Stamp in Daffodil Delight. A piece of Crumb Cake is cut out with the Oval Collection Framelits Dies. On top of that is a piece of paper from the Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper that I flagged on both ends. A piece of Very Vanilla is stamped with the Basic Label Single Stamp in Cajun Craze and cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Die. The year is stamped in Island Indigo using the Memorable Moments Stamp Set and backed with a piece of Marina Mist. Two Neutrals Brads are on either side. The SF is stamped in Not Quite Navy from the Morning Post Alphabet Stamp Set and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Control Freaks Feb Blog Tour Box

The cover also uses Parker’s Prints Designer Series Paper and the Basic Label Stamp. A piece of Very Vanilla is stamped with the image from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set in Crumb Cake and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The California is stamped in Not Quite Navy with the Simply Serif Mini Alphabet. A Silver Basic Designer with some Very Vanilla 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon Ribbon threaded and  is adhered with some Mini Glue Dots in the upper left. Some Natural 7/16″ Ribbon Trim holds it together.

Control Freaks Feb Blog Tour Album

All of the pages inside use Parker’s Prints Designer Series Paper too. On the first page I stamped the tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy and punched them out with Ticket Duo Builder Punch. On the second page the sister is from the Amazing Family Stamp Set and is stamped in Cajun Craze. On page three I used images from the By the Tide Stamp Set and they are stamped in Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler. All of the pictures are of my friends Kim and Angie on their vacation to San Francisco.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

The title says it all! Happy Valentine’s Day to you! I’m so happy that I get to share my creativity with you every day! I love that you visit and leave comments. I have gotten to know some of you and I love that too! I guess there is a lot of love going around. Today I have two Valentine’s projects for you. The first one is a banner and the second one is a 3×3 card.

The first one up is a Valentine’s banner. I do like to make a banner from time to time as you know! I used Pool Party, Real Red and Pretty in Pink Card Stock. The flagged backgrounds for each of the panels is Real Red and Pretty in Pink. I embossed each one with the Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the two end panels I used some More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper to make two rosettes. On top of that is a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I stamped the Love Heart in Primrose Petals and punched them out with the Full Heart Punch. Each of the letters is from the Morning Post Alphabet Stamp Set and they are also stamped in Primrose Petals. I used my Paper Snips to cut each one out and backed them with a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits. All of them are then adhered to the flagged pieces with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The string is a piece of “Vintage” Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon and I punched out some more Pool Party with the Modern Label Punch and folded them in half to hang them. I really like the colors and the two larger end pieces on the banner. It looks pretty neat hanging above my craft area!

The second project is a 3×3 card that would be great to give to a special co-worker or slip into your child’s lunch. The base is Whisper White Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. Two flagged pieces of More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper are adhered behind the heart that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies from Primrose Petals and embossed with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The heart in the center is stamped in Pool Party on Pool Party and also cut out with the framelits. The greeting is from the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. All of the elements are adhered to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It’s a cute little card with a lot of wow for it’s size!

Control Freaks January Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello and welcome to the Control Freaks January Blog Tour featuring products from the 2013 Sale-A-Bration Brochure! If you are following the tour you have just arrived from Connie Babbert’s blog. She always has such awesome projects doesn’t she?!?! I have two projects to share with you today, both of them are 3D Home Decor items and I hope that you enjoy them!

First up we have a small resin frame that I picked up from a local craft store. You can do some amazing things with theses frames besides putting a picture inside. I have a fond affection for London so I was so happy to see the Phone Box in the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set. I stamped the image in Midnight Muse on Very Vanilla Card Stock. The hellos are form the Petite Pretties Stamp Set and are stamped in Summer Starfruit. I used the Petite Curly Label Punch, also a Sale-A-Bration item, to punch them out. Across the bottom is a piece of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. To dress that up a little bit I adhered a piece of Real Red 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around the back. I love the standard red and blue with the pop of Summer Starfruit. How cool is that they included a punch in this year’s Sale-A-Bration?! This is a simple project that will help dress up any little nook in your home. It definitely makes me feel sentimental for merry old England!

Frame - Control Freaks 1-2013 Blog Tour

Next up we have a bird cage. I also picked this up from a local craft store but instead of a bird I thought some flowers would look nice inside. To form the base I used two circles, one in Whisper White and one in Early Espresso. In between the two layers is a piece of floral foam. The flowers are from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and are stamped in Primrose Petals and cut out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies. The middles are stamped in Summer Starfruit and punched out with the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. For the leaves I used the Secret Garden Framelits Dies and some Garden Green. The stems are floral wire and some Mini Glue Dots hold the flowers and Multipurpose Glue holds the leaves. For the middles I used Stampin’ Dimensionals for some depth. A poke with my Paper-Piercing Tool made putting them in the base quick and easy. The stamp around the bottom of the cage is also from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. I thought it needed some butterflies so I stamped them from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set in Pool Party and punched them out with the Petite Butterfly Punch. Some Mini Glue Dots hold them in place. I wasn’t too sure about the flowers in the bird cage but I really like the way it looks. I think this will get to hang in my kitchen to remind that spring is on it’s way!

Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad January Blog Hop!

Blog Hop Banner January 2013

Good day to you and welcome to the January edition of the Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Hop featuring products from the Stampin’ Up! 2013 Spring Catalog. We have some great projects in store for you today! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Terry Blais‘ blog, didn’t she have some great stuff to share with you? I have two projects for you today, a card and a box that would be great for some chocolates!

First up we have the card. The base of it is Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. The background is created with the Woodgrain Background Stamp, in Summer Starfruit, and some Whisper White Card Stock. A strip of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack goes across the bottom. The flowers and leaves are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. The leaves are stamped in Gumball Green and the flowers in Raspberry Ripple on Primrose Petals. I used the Boho Blossom Punch for the centers in Summer Starfruit and a Basic Jewel Pearl is adhered in the middle of each. The flowers are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I stamped the happy birthday from the Made for You Stamp Set in Raspberry Ripple. I love the woodgrain as a background for the flowers and the framelits make cutting them out so easy. I have a few people in mind that might like this for their birthday!

Stylin' Stampin' Blog Hop 1-10-2013

Next we have a box. It definitely would be great for some chocolates but you could also fit a host of other more “precious” gifts inside. The box measures 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″ and is created using Crumb Cake Card Stock and my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. To decorate the box I used the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders with some Primrose Petals. The flags are made from pieces of More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper. For the heart I stamped the image from the You are Loved Stamp Set in Primrose Petals and cut it out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. I pierced around the edge with the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool and adhered it to the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The love is from the same set and is stamped in Pool Party and Primrose Petals. I used the Decorative Label Punch and the Large Oval Punch to punch them out and layered them for more dimension. I still vote that we fill the box with some chocolate!

Control Freaks December Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello there! How are all of you people doing? I’m doing great, and how could I not be?! It’s time for this month’s Control Freaks December Blog Tour featuring Winter Fun! I am the first stop on the tour but you also may have arrived here from the über talented Connie Babbert’s blog. Didn’t she have some amazing projects?! I have two projects for you this time. One is a masculine box with a lodge feel and the other is a fun card that would be good for just about anything.

First up we have the box. I used one of the Kraft Gift Boxes. These are great item from the Annual Catalog. They are great to decorate with some Designer Series Paper and embellishments. I adhered some paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack around the sides. I like the plaid pattern in Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Early Espresso. On the top of the box I made a paper bow from some Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. It’s 3/4″ wide and if you use your Bone Folder to “curl” it a little it tends not to crease when you make the bow. On top of the bow I stacked three of the Naturals Designer Buttons, adhering them together with Mini Glue Dots. For the tag I stamped an image from the Bring on the Cake Stamp Set in Early Espresso on a piece of Very Vanilla. I punched out a piece of Cherry Cobbler with the 1″ Circle Punch, scored it down the center and adhered it to the tag with some Sticky Strip. A quick punch through the top and some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine to attach it to the bow and you’re done. Quick and easy, great for a masculine treat!

Next up we have the card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. A piece of paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack is flagged and adhered to the background. The stamped image is form the Wonderful Winterland Stamp Set stamped in Basic Black. I colored it in with Island Indigo, Pool Party, Blush Blossom, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand and Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Markers. The 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch is used to punch it out and a piece of Pool Party cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit Die backs it. They are mounted to each other and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. I cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. I love the little girl and bunny sharing some cocoa, a friendly little card for someone special.

Paper Players 126 & News!

Ahh… Monday… back again I see! How was your weekend? Mine was GREAT! I got most of my to do list accomplished and had so much fun at my two parties. Just when I thought that it couldn’t get any better I got some exciting news! I will be a Guest Designer on the Paper Players Challenge for the next six months starting in January! WOW! I’m a huge fan of the talented group of ladies and am honored to be with them. I can’t wait to get started. How fitting that today is my post for this week’s challenge!

This week’s challenge will last for two weeks and Ann has given us a Clean & Simple Challenge with snowflakes…

Paper Players #126

I love snowflakes, just as long as they are on a card and not floating through the air! My card starts off with a base of Not Quite Navy Card Stock. For the Whisper White panel I started by punching a hole in the upper left with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I cut out a piece of Window Sheet and adhered it to the back over the hole. The stamped snowflakes and greeting are from the Snow Swirled Stamp Set and are stamped in Not Quite Navy. All of the snowflake images have a Basic Jewel Rhinestone in the center of them. The snowflake on the Window Sheet is created but cutting out some Silver Glimmer Paper with the Snow Flurry Bigz Die. I adhered the two parts together and to the Window Sheet with some Mini Glue Dots.  The panel is then adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the simple elegance of the card and the shadow that the Silver Glimmer Paper snowflake casts on the card base. I hope you enjoyed my Paper Players Challenge card for this week. Thank you for checking in with me and I hope that you have a good Monday! 🙂

Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Bog Hop!

Blog Hop Badges December 2012

Hello everyone and welcome to this month’s Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Hop. Most likely you have arrived here from Terry Blais’ Blog, didn’t she have some great projects?! This is my first time out with these talented ladies and I hope that you enjoy my projects. This month we have a holiday theme and I have a card and a 3D project for you today.

First up is the card that I CASE’d it from Stampin’ Success. The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I stamped the greeting from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set in Early Espresso. The border that is stamped across the bottom in Crumb Cake is from the Make a Mitten Stamp Set. All of the paper is from the Festival of Prints Designer Series paper Stack, cut into strips and some ends are flagged. The mittens are punched out from Island Indigo and Cherry Cobbler with the Mitten Builder Punch. The reindeer are from the Make a Mitten Set and are stamped in Early Espresso. I really like the simplicity of the card and it’s a great way to use some of your scraps of DSP.

Next up we have the 3D project. I was in one of the local craft stores and I saw this small printer’s tray. I thought it would be great to fill with some Stampin’ Up! goodies to make a little Christmas display. All of the interior of the tray is lined with Crumb Cake Card Stock that I embossed with the Chevron Textured impressions Embossing Folder. They are adhered to the inside with Sticky Strip. The gingerbread men and the mug are from the Scentsational Season Stamp Set and are stamped in Soft Suede and Island Indigo. I cut them out with the Holiday Collection Framelits Dies and adhered them with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. In the other side we have a piece of Island Indigo that I punched the edge with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. A piece of Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin Ribbon is adhered around the back with Sticky Strip. I punched a piece of Soft Suede with the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and embossed it with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A set of mittens in Island Indigo and Raspberry Ripple are punched out with the Mitten Builder Punch and the reindeer is from the Make a Mitten Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso. They are all adhered together and the the tray with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the More Merry Messages and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple on Very Vanilla and the corners rounded with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. I backed it with a piece of Raspberry Ripple and adhered it with some more Stmapin’ Dimensionals. I love this and will definitely make some more to give as gifts. How cute would this be hanging up for the holidays?!
