Pals Paper Arts 246

I’m a little late this morning! I had a very busy day yesterday doing some things for my old department at work. After work I went to get a haircut and little Daniel was at my parent’s house for dinner. They took him to see the Easter bunny at Hicks Nursery. Just when you think that he can’t possibly get any cuter there is this picture!

His little bow tie is just too cute and I love his new haircut! I also went out for drinks last night with Anthony, Bill and Fred. We had a very nice time but I think that I had a little too much because when I got home I passed out on the couch and woke up at 3:00am! I crawled into bed and here we are!

So let’s get on to today’s post which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

I do love the Pistachio and Cantaloupe together and the Kraft is the perfect addition. I wanted a quick birthday card, we need those right?! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the front is covered in a piece of Kraft. Before I adhered it to the card I adhered a piece of the Sweet Sadie Designer Washi Tape down the left side. My tag is punched from a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe using the Ornate Tag Topper Punch. I stamped the greeting from the Balloon Bash Photopolymer Stamp Set in Pistachio Pudding and cut them out with my Paper Snips. They are adhered to the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of Pistachio Pudding Thick Bakers Twine is tied through the top and the tag is adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. A scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Lime Sorbet and Tangerine Sequins complete the card. I like the layout and a quick color change would make this card work for just about anyone! Freshly Made Sketches 179

So, do you know what?! It’s FRIDAY! Yay! I have to say that I had a good but busy Thursday. Work was a little chaotic, they had an event in the morning and I ended up helping out my old department. Not that I mind and I would do pretty much anything for my old boss Nancy. I also get to fix some iPads tomorrow morning because the guy that we have in the IT department couldn’t do it. After work I went straight over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee. We plotted what we are going to do with some upcoming projects. And yes, I got a few things! LOL! On the way home I stopped by Heather’s and had dinner with her and her brother. She made tuna wraps with avocado and I mixed up some Sriracha and Mayo, delicious! We ran to the shoe store because I’m looking for some brown boots. I didn’t find any boots but I did find three pairs of Ben Sherman shoes that I loved! I also wore a plaid button down shirt, something that I never do. Brown boots and a plaid shirt… what is happening to me?! LOL! When I got home there was some Happy Mail from Pretty Pink Posh waiting for me! Love me some sequins and I think that her’s are the best!

The card that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

A fun sketch as always and I wanted to do something a little different. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the front is covered in a piece of Island Indigo. I heat embossed a piece of Garden Green with some Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the Hero Arts with Basic Gray Waves Background Stamp. The Project Life Corner Rounder is used to round off the corners and some SNAIL adheres it to the card. Next up is a piece of Vellum and on that I heat embossed one of the stamps from The Open Seas Stamp Set in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Spiral Border Punch is used along the right side at the left corners are rounded and some 2-Way Glue holds it to the background. I also stamped the anchor from the stamp set and heat embossed that in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut it out with my Paper Snips. Some Kool Tak Clear Foam adheres that to the note page. My greeting is from the Fabulous Four Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Pool Party. I flagged the left side and wrapped some Hemptique Natural Hemp Cord around it before adhering it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few of the Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine and Sparkle and Green with Envy Sequins complete the card. I really am loving that background stamp and the The Open Seas is the first Stampin’ Up! set that I ever got! Paper Craft Crew 137

Well, wouldn’t you know it… it’s Wednesday! There is one foolproof way that I always know that, it’s Paper Craft Crew day! But before we get to that I went to the movies last night to see Insurgent with Andrew! We had some Chipotle for dinner and ten headed over to the Broadway Mall to sit in those big comfy chairs! The movie was great! Lots of special effects and a really good plot line. Thankfully they don’t really leave you hanging, we know how much Andrew hates that! He was saying in the car that it’s another seven months before we get to see the final Hunger Games. He really doesn’t like a cliffhanger at all! LOL! Sometimes that’s just the way it happens! I do try to see movies with him that aren’t trilogies or if they are they are all available for download! So, not a bad Tuesday night at all!

Like I said I know that it’s Wednesday because it time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

This was one of those cards that I put to together in my head! The card base, as is usually the case lately, is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Bermuda Bay. I used a piece of Whisper White to stamp the confetti from the Balloon Bash Photopolymer Stamp Set with Versa-Mark and some Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then again in Calypso Coral. My middle panel is a piece of the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Calypso Coral and tucked under the bottom is a piece of Mossy Meadow that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. Before I adhered the white to the card I wrapped some Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine around it and tied it in a bow. I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch and some Night of Navy to make my tag and heat embossed on it are the candles also from the Balloon Bash Photopolymer Stamp Set. The “light ’em up” is heat embossed separately on a piece of Bermuda Bay and the ends are flagged. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the tag and greeting to the card. Three Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine and Sparkle Sequins are adhered next to the tag with Crystal Effects and complete the card. I absolutely love that greeting, makes me sing the Fall Out Boy song every time I see it! LOL! So there is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Can You Case It 62

I had a good day yesterday! I got some of my projects done and had lunch with Taylor. Anthony and Bill came and picked me up around 2:30 and we headed into Manhattan. We got in early so that we could have dinner. We ended up eating at this little diner a few blocks from the Miller Theater where Harmony Sweepstakes takes place. A good burger and really good fries! We arrived at the theater and they let us in a little early so that Anthony wouldn’t have any issues with the wheelchair. Andrew and Satellite Lane were up second and they did a really great set! They made it like a skit with three songs. I have the video and will try to post it to YouTube at some point this week. They won for best innovation and choreography. The group that did win was called Low Key and they were really good. It was great to see Andrew and everyone else and I got to meet his dad for the first time! I got home around 11:15 and Taylor stopped by for a bit. I slept in this morning hence the reason I’m a little late, guess I needed some more rest!

Today I’m over on the Can You Case It blog for this week’s challenge which is Designer Choice…

Love a challenge like this and I had the perfect card for it! My card starts with a base of Whisper White Card stock. For the front I used a piece of Kraft Card Stock and heat embossed the dashed line from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The large butterfly is actually the same as the butterfly that I cut out of a piece of Blushing Bride using the Butterfly Thilits. I saw that Mercedes Weber had cut two out of Fun Foam and glued them together and used them as a stamp. What a cool idea! I did the same and also heat embossed that in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Blushing Bride butterfly is heat embossed with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder. My leaves tucked behind the flower are from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set and are stamped in Pear Pizzaz on Very Vanilla. I cut them out using a die that got on Etsy. Love those leaves and they do look best cut out so the die is a home run! The burlap flower is similar to one that I had made a while ago. I used some burlap sheets that are coated in Mod Podge and cut out with one of the circles from the Circles Collection Framelits. A slit is cut halfway up each circle and they are hot glued together and then to each other to form the flower. In the middle is a Vintage Faceted Button and a Gold Basic Metal Button. For the greeting I used the one from the Butterfly Basic Set and heat embossed it in Blushing Bride on the Kraft. All of the elements are then adhered to the background, some sequins are sprinkled around and the card is finished. I sent this card to my friend Andrea for her birthday and she loved it! Gold Musical Balloon Bash

Today is my Dad’s Birthday so Happy Birthday Dad! He truly is one of the best Dad’s that you could ever have! If something needs to be fixed he can do it. My friends refer to him as McGuyver or as my cousin calls him Super Danny! He once fixed my car remote with a gum wrapper, not kidding! Happy Birthday Dad!

I had a very nice day yesterday, I went to lunch with my friend Sue, we went to SmashBurger. They have really good food there, especially the fried pickles and the sweet potato fries, they are nice and crispy! After lunch we went to Michaels and then came back to my house and I finally got to do the fun technique that I promised to share with you. Gold foil is very in right now and it’s super simple to do. You might even have all the equipment that you need already. I found an image of sheet music online and printed it out with my laser printer. Then I took some of the gold foil, mine is form iCraft and is called Deco Foil. I put it on top if the printed sheet and then placed it inside a piece of printer paper and ran it though my laminator. When it comes out it looks like this…

How cool is that?! All of the foil sticks to the toner! You need a laser printer, it won’t work with an ink-jet because you need the toner. I think it’s a really cool look and you can foil anything that you can print! I’ll definitely be using this more!

So today’s card is actually for my Dad! I started off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. A piece of Hemptique Black Hemp Twine is tied in a bow around the middle. Then I adhered the gold foiled sheet music to the base. The greeting is from the Balloon Bash Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut it out and adhered it to the card with a few pieces of Clear Foam Tape. A super simple card but the gold foil sheet music gives it lots of impact! Freshly Made Sketches 174

It was actually warm here yesterday, well, warm is a relative term, it was 34 degrees! Which feels somewhat like a heat wave compared to -10. Tomorrow it’s supposed to go down to -15 that’s without the wind chill! Now that’s cold for NY! I may need to be chiseled off of the sidewalk at some point! Yesterday was a pretty good day at work, I had lunch with my friend Robin and it was my friend Christina’s birthday so there were some Red Velvet cupcakes to be had! I definitely ate too much! When I got to my parents Daniel was there! He was running around like always and wanting to be everywhere that he shouldn’t be! He is still the cutest! When I came home I went straight into the Stampin’ Galley, I had quite a few projects to get done, I forgot there is a Control Freaks Blog Tour this evening so I had to get those cards done! Be sure to check back here around 9:00pm to take the tour! And let’s not forget that tomorrow is Friday, freezing Friday as it will be know this week!

The first card that I made last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I want to thank Narelle for choosing my card as her pick for last week’s challenge! Now here is this week’s sketch…

Loads of possibilities! I stayed very true to the sketch and had fun with it! The base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock. My diagonal strip is a piece of paper from the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack backed with a piece of Night of Navy. My ballon is cut out with the Balloon Framelits, once from a piece of Bermuda Bay and again from a piece of Vellum Card Stock. I used the stamps from the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set to heat emboss the confetti on the Bermuda Bay balloon in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the Happy Birthday on the Vellum one in Calypso Coral Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some 2-Way Glue holds the balloons together and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The bow is a piece of Gold Foil Sheet and is also cut out with the Balloon Framelits and adhered with some more 2-Way Glue. A piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine is adhered in a few spots with Crystal Effect to give it the fun curves. To finish off the card I adhered some sequins from Doodlebug and Pretty Pink Posh with Crystal Effects randomly on the top half of the card. I love the colors and the fun Designer Series Paper, so bright and cheery, perfect for a birthday! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Paper Players 230 & Leadership Pics!

And my vacation is officially over, it’s back to work. I had a great week in Florida so I guess I can’t complain. I spent the day yesterday catching up on emails and big comments, oh, and laundry, lots of laundry! I also got to spend some time in the Stampin’ Galley, boy did I miss that! It snowed here last night and is raining this morning, joy! Thanks to Germaine’s Paper Pumpkin workshop I did get to craft a little while I was away. I have some more pictures from Leadership that I will be sharing over the next couple of days. I love meeting everyone and getting to see my peeps from the home office. Here are a few of the lovely people that I got to see while in Orlando!

So much fun! Now on to today’s card. Monday means that it’s Paper Players time and this week we have an interesting theme challenge from Claire…

A Valentine for our furry friends! I couldn’t find any Stampin’ Up! sets that had a dog in them so I had to use a set from Simon Says Stamp. My base for today’s card is Naturals White Card Stock. I created my background using a piece of Watercolor Paper and some Gelatos mixed with water. The dog is from the Simon Says Stamp You Are Pawsome Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped him in Soft Suede used Soft Suede and Real Red to watercolor him. Some Black and Gold Gel Pens are used for his eyes, nose and name tag. He is cut out with the coordinating dies. The greeting is cut out from a piece of Watercolor Paper and some Real Red using the Simon Says Stamp Pawsome die, they are glued together and then adhered to the card. My balloon is from the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set, I used my Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers to ink up the edges and then watercolored the image. The coordinating Ballon Framelits cut out the ballon and the bow from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. Some black hemp twine is used for the string and the ballon and dog are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the look of watercolored images and especially like the effect of the Gelatos on the background! Jason’s Birthday Card

Today’s the day! I’m off to the airport in a little while to head down to Orlando for a week! Andrew will be taking me. It will be nice to be somewhere a little warmer! My trip into Manhattan was nice yesterday morning. I met the girls for breakfast at the diner and then we just went back to Kim’s apartment and sat around and laughed! I got back home around 3:00 and started to work on the rest of my projects that I needed to get finished. Last night I realized that I didn’t have a suitcase with wheels on it that worked so I went to BJ’s and picked one up. I stopped in at Michaels to see Taylor and then came home and packed. Now all of you keep your fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly at the airport. We remember what happened the last time that I flew jetBlue right?!?! I’m sure that it will be a nice smooth day!

As promised today I’m sharing that card that I made for my brother for his birthday. It’s a nice simple masculine card and I even managed to sneak on some ribbon! The card base is Lost Lagoon Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Banners Framelits to cut out another piece of Lost Lagoon to serve as the backing for my main panel. I used the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set to stamp the car and the greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Soft Suede. Before I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I flagged a piece of the 7/8″ Natural Cotton Ribbon and adhered it to the banner with Fast Fuse. Pals Paper Arts 237

So, yesterday at work was my last day in that department. When I get back from vacation I start a new job as a Project Manager for a software program that keeps all of the agencies records. It’s bittersweet because I really liked the people that I worked with but this a is a new adventure and change is always good right?! My old department took me out to lunch and it was really nice. I will miss them for sure. Last night I had a class at the Scrapbook store for my friend Renee. It was so much fun! There were 18 people and we made four cards and a tag. What a lovely bunch of people! Here are a few pictures…

I’m off to Manhattan for a bit this morning to go see my friend Kim and her sister Angie and their friend Dawn. I haven’t been to Manhattan for a while and I’m looking forward to some breakfast at the diner! 😀

Now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

Nice and simple! My card base is Mossy Meadow Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper. It’s a little hard to see in the picture but some of those cool watercolor balloons are actually gold foil! Great DSP! I took a piece of Night of Navy and used the Simon Says Stamp Circle Border Die to create the perforated panel along the bottom. My greeting is from the Crazy About You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Bermuda Bay. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the panel and the greeting to the card. Not too complicated and the DSP is just so cool! Watercolor Confetti Ballons Birthday

I had another nice productive day yesterday! I straightened up a bit around the house in the morning and then sat down to make my card for today. My dad came over and helped me install the new panels that I got for the closet. They look so much better than what was there before! I headed over to Heather’s around 4:30 and we went to the supermarket to pick up some stuff for last nights little get together. Everyone arrived around 7:30 and the festivities go underway immediately! There is a beam that runs through Heather’s apartment and I decided that it would be fun to hang from it. You really are never too old to act like a fool!

Didn’t know that I was Spider-Man did you?! LOL! We had a very good time and it was so nice get so many of us together! Here we all are, love the timer feature on the iPhone!

From left to right there is Kim, Brian, Heather, Me, Stephanie, Neal, Adam and Erin. Quite the happy bunch aren’t we?! It really was a good time and I can’t wait for us to do it again!

I did have some fun making my card yesterday. I watercolored the background and made quite a mess doing it! The card base is Whisper White Card Stock. My background is a piece of Watercolor Paper, I taped it to a glass mat so it would stay flat. Some Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon Re-Inkers are mixed with water and added to the paper that was brushed over with plain water first. I also flicked the brush over the paper for some added interest. My “confetti” is a mix of Perfect Pearls and water that I painted on randomly. The Heat Tool speeds up the drying and also helps flatten out the paper. I trimmed the piece to fit across the entire card front and used Fast Fuse to adhere it. The balloons are stamped in Versa-Mark on Vellum Card Stock with the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set* and heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The matching Ballon Framelits* are used to cut them out. I tied some White Baker’s Twine around them and adhered them with my 2-Way Glue Pen. I really love the background and the vellum balloons are great because the let you see more of it.
