Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad September Blog Hop!

SSSHeader

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to thank all of the wonderful people that stopped by yesterday to wish me a Happy Birthday! It really means a lot to me! A huge thank you to Brian who is just awesome, sneaky but awesome, but you know that already! So yes, today is my birthday and it has been a really great one so far! 🙂

Thank you so much for joining us for the September Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Hop! This month we are focusing on the tools of the stampin’ trade. Specifically, each of our favorite stamping tools. It’s amazing the kinds of tools that have been created to help us along in our paper-crafting addictions. This month’s blog hop will showcase many of the Stampin’ Up! tools that are now available to us in the 2013-2014 Stampin’ Up! Idea Book and Holiday Catalog and even a couple of products that are so new they aren’t in either catalog. We hope you enjoy seeing how we use the old and new tools and are inspired to come up with some great projects of your own.

You should have just left Kim R. of Stamping with Kim on the Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad blog hop. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn’t work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

For my project I used more than one of my favorite tools. My all time favorite tool is definitely my Big Shot, I think I use it in almost every card that I make! One of the new things they have for the Big Shot is the Thinlits Dies. They are just the coolest thing to come along in a while. You can make a flip card in minutes and variations on it too! My second favorite tool is my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I used that one an awful lot too!

My card uses the Circle Card Thinlits Dies with a little extension on the end. It’s actually quite easy to do, just leave 2 7/8″ extra card stock over the top of the right edge when you run it through the Big Shot, it even scores it for you! The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. I used some Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper for the background that I trimmed using the Circles Collection Framelits. The front of the circle flip is a piece of Raspberry Ripple that I stamped with a stamp from the Cycle Celebration Stamp Set in Raspberry Ripple using my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The soda bottle is stamped in Summer Starfruit, the banner in Island Indigo and I cut them both out with my Paper Snips. The inside circle is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the greeting I stamped the Celebrate a Sweet Birthday in Raspberry Ripple and Island Indigo. The Decorative Label Punch and Scallop Oval Punch cut them out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. I really do love the Circle Card Thinlits, especially with the extra piece on the right! Thanks for hopping by to my blog to see my project for this month’s project. Now you are off to see Heidi B. of Stuck on Stampin’, she will have some good stuff for you too! Just another thanks for all of the birthday wishes! Have a great day and a pice of cake for me! 🙂

SUO Challenges 79

Before I get to anything else today I wanted to let you know that beginning on September 12th you can order the Stampin’ Up! Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot. This is a must have accessory for your framelits! No more Post-It notes to hold them in place. I have had mine for a few months and I use it all the time. They were on backorder for a while but they are back in stock. I’m thinking this is Stampin’ Up!’s way of celebrating my birthday! LOL! Isn’t that nice of them?!?! Here is a picture of the sandwich used with the Magnetic Platform:

Mag Catalog

So if you don’t have one and have wanted to get one Thursday is the day people! 🙂

Yesterday was a little cool here but very nice. My cold seems to be getting a little better and I got to thank my friend Danielle in person for sharing it with me! She was supposed to go skydiving on Sunday but they waited for two hours and it was too windy so they have to try another time. I think I may join her the next time she goes! 🙂

For today’s post I have my SUO Challenges Design Team card for you. This time around we were asked to use our favorite techniques. I do have a lot but I love to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig and a Blender Pen and this is the card I came up with. The base is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. For the background I stamped a piece of Pistachio Pudding with a stamp from the Make a Wish Stamp Set in Pistachio Pudding using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to create the pattern. The main panel consists of two images from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and colored in with my Blender Pen and some Baked Brown Sugar, Calypso Coral and So Saffron Ink. I cut it and a piece of Baked Brown Sugar out with my Circles Collection Framelits Dies and used some Stampin’ Dimensionals in between to adhere them. The greeting is from the same set and is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I cut out a piece of Baked Brown Sugar to back it with and keep it consistent with the main images. I really like the background created with the repeated stamp, it’s gives a nice change from DSP or embossing and the stamps from the Sketched Birthday set are just fun! Thanks for dropping by to see my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Favorite Technique challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what my fellow Design Team members choose for theirs and enter one of your creations in the gallery! Have a great Tuesday!

Pals Paper Arts 170

Good morning! There is nothing like a night out in Manhattan with some shots and some friends! We went to a little place in Midtown called Barcelona Bar, not that most bars are big in Manhattan! They had a list of different shot on boards on the wall. Three lists of $5, a list of $7 and then one of more expensive ones. Some of the shots came with music and some with a performance by the bartender. For the Harry Potter shot he donned a Gryffindor scarf and you had to wear the sorting hat and use a wand! The bartender then lit the bar on fire and chanted spells. It was quite entertaining! Heather and I stopped and had some chicken and pepperoni pizza on the way home. A really good time with some great friends!

Today’s post is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This week they have a nice color challenge for us…

PPA 170

The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. For the background I stamped the Postcard Stamp in Midnight Muse and added some script from the Notable Notions Stamp Set. The flowers are from the Flower Shop Stamp Set and are stamped in Early Espresso on Crushed Curry and punched out with the Pansy Punch. Some Midnight Muse cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit Die are adhered behind them and they are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The stamps are from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set and are stamped in Midnight Muse and Early Espresso. I punched them out with the Postage Stamp Punch and they too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love the colors and I might venture to say that even with the flowers you could still give this to one of the men in your life. Thank you, as always, for taking some time to stop by and visit. I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Have a good Saturday!

Freshly Made Sketches & Display Stamper 6

Yeah! It’s FRIDAY! The week went a little slowly for me how about you? I’m off to the Hamptons this morning for work to visit the school that we have out there. We are leaving around 11:30am because there is usually a lot of weekend traffic that starts around 1:00pm. It’s supposed to be nice today so possibly some beach later with my friend Heather who is meeting me out there. 🙂

Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. There is also the last of my Hello, Lovely Display Projects at the end of the post. First up we have a sketch from the lovely Jen T….

Freshly Made Sketches #97

Nice and simple! I decided to use some of the things I learned from my friend Brian’s demonstration he gave at Convention about using color on Masculine cards. The base of my card is Sahara Sand Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper with that great houndstooth pattern in Tangerine Tango. I stamped the image for the main panel from the Remembering Christmas Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it with Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I knocked a little more of the powder off so it would have a slightly weathered look like the DSP. It’s backed with a piece of Early Espresso and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The two flags are stamped with one of the stamps from last month’s Paper Pumpkin in Early Espresso and Tangerine Tango. Finally the greeting is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I love when you can use a stamp from a Christmas set for something else and the deer head is perfect for Masculine cards. The Tangerine Tango is great paired with the neutrals of Sahara Sand and Early Espresso and makes for a nice pop of color. Thanks so much for stopping by to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. Scroll down to the end of the post to see my last Display project for Hello, Lovely. I hope you have a lovely day! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 48

Hello Wednesday and hello to all of you! Halfway there people and that’s a good thing. The rest of this week is going to be busy! I’m going into Manhattan tonight and then tomorrow we have a golf fundraiser at work and I will be there from 8:00am until 11:00pm, then back at work at 7:00am on Friday. Like I said busy!! Crafting time will be shortened but I will still squeeze some in, I need my balance!

Today’s post – Paper Craft Crew Sketch 48…

PCCCS048- 6-26-2013

Simple sketch with a lot of possibilities. The base of my card is Chocolate Chip Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Pack. The middle panel is made up of a piece of Chocolate Chip, a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the Finishing Touches Edgelits Dies and a piece of Whisper White that I stamped in Chocolate Chip with the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set. A pice of Whisper White 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon goes around the lower half and some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it to the base. The greeting and the hat are from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set, the greeting is cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies and my Paper Snips cut out the hat. I’m really liking the “sketched” look of the stamps and the Calypso Coral and Chocolate Chip make a nice color combo. Thank you, as always, for coming by to see my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what my fellow designers have for inspiration and enter one of your creations in the gallery. Have yourselves a very nice Wednesday!

Simple Monday Birthday

Here we go again, back to Monday. How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was good, I got all of my projects finished! I watched a movie, spent time with my friends and the child. It was a very productive weekend and those are my favorite kind. It’s supposed to rain here today but I’ll be at work so it’s all good.

Today I have a birthday card that I made for one of my co-workers. Nicole loves the beach and actually lives quite close to it on the north shore of Long Island. Because of that I felt some seashells would be a good addition to the card. The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I tore the bottom of the front panel of Costal Cabana and also tore another piece that I adhered underneath, I thought it gave the illusion of waves. The shells are stamped in Costal Cabana from the By the Seashore Stamp Set on Crumb Cake. A little work with my Paper Snips and I adhered them to the bottom. The greeting is from the now “Vintage” Beautiful Birthday Stamp and is stamped in Early Espresso so it stands out a little better. I used the new Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set to give the effect of sand on the bottom of the inside that peeks out. Nicole loved the card and I was impressed that I was able to tear the card stock, I have a big aversion to doing that but I like the effect! Thank you for stopping by to see what I’m up to, I appreciate your visit and comments. I wish a very happy Monday! 🙂

Mojo 295 & Sneak Peek

Holiday Monday morning! It’s a beautiful day here on Long Island, sunny and not too hot. There are parades and BBQ’s scheduled for today, lots of fun for a Monday! I’m off to watch the munchkins for a little while then some crafting and outside time! What are you all doing today? Some people, like my friend Julie, have to work but most have off. Hopefully there is fun ahead in your day!

Today’s post – Mojo Monday 295, a sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo295

A nice simple sketch indeed! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I used a plain piece of Daffodil Delight for the background. The lower piece of paper is from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Pack and the other is from the Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack*. I choose the greeting from the Word Play Stamp Set, trying to get a little more use out if before it becomes “Vintage”! It’s stamped in Island Indigo and backed with some Strawberry Slush*. The flag is stamped with an image from the Mosaic Madness Stamp Set*. I finally played with some of the new Simply Pressed Clay Buttons & Blossoms Moulds* and Simply Pressed Clay* yesterday. After some trial and error I find that putting them in the freezer for about and hour and removing them to dry works better than leaving them in the whole time. I used my Aqua Painter and some Pool Party Ink to color it. I really like the ability to make the clay any color that you like and it’s so nice and lightweight that mailing it should be no problem. Thank you very much for coming by on this holiday Monday to see my Mojo Monday sketch challenge card. I hope that you enjoyed it and that you are going to have a great day! 🙂

Paper Players #147 :-) & Sneak Peek

Good Sunday to you! How is your weekend going so far? Mine is pretty good despite the rainy and cold weather we had yesterday. I did spend most of the day crafting, I have a lot of projects to do and I would like to get a little bit ahead. I did make some progress so I’ll continue on today. What is going on on by you?

It’s Sunday and that means it’s time to play with the Paper Players! This week we have a sketch from the talented LeAnne…

Paper Players #147 Sketch 5-26-2013

A very different sketch from any that I have seen recently so this was fun! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. The paper rectangles are all from the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper Pack*. They have some great distressed and fun patterns in there. The greeting is form the Best of Birthdays Stamp Set and is stamped in Summer Starfruit and Early Espresso. I cut out the Birthday and popped it up on some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the other one that is punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. They are backed with a piece of Island Indigo that I cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies. Not an overly complicated card but the DSP really gives it some oomph! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from LeAnne. Be sure to visit the Paper Players blog and see what my fellow creative team mates have come up with and enter yours in the gallery to play along. I hope that you have some crafty time and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Paper Players #146 :-)

Ahh, Sunday morning is so much nicer in the Hampton’s! LOL! It is really relaxing out here, very quiet and woodsy. My friend has a lovely little house on a very quiet street. We went to see another friend yesterday and she lives on Bluff Road, you can see and hear the ocean from her house. It is a different world out here and it’s only an hour and a half drive (off season with no traffic!) from where I live. If you are ever in the area it’s definitely a must see place! Here is a picture of the sunset last night…

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players and we have a fun CAS Masculine challenge from Ann…

Paper Players 146 CAS Masculine 5-19-2013

I decided to use one of my favorite sets from the Spring Catalog and some of the new In-Colors. The base of my card is Costal Cabana* Card Stock. I used a piece of adhesive cork sheet in the middle and flagged the bottom. The main panel is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar* using the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set backed with some Baked Brown Sugar* Card Stock. The watch is from the Dapper Dad Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The center dial is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar* and cut out with my Paper Snips. For the greeting I used the From My Heart Stamp Set and cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Dapper Dad, I think is one of the best masculine stamp sets we have had and I love the way the watch looks embossed. Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s CAS Masculine Challenge from Ann. Don’t forget to visit the Paper Players blog to see what the rest of the amazing design team have come up with. I hope that you have a very nice Sunday! 🙂

Woo hoo! The color renovation has been announced! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! I’m a little sad to see that Lucky Limeade didn’t make the cut but we also got some former In-Colors back too! Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride along with a new color Smokey Shadow. They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. Say so long to Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and River Rock. Change is a good thing!

Stampin’ Up! has released their first Photopolymer Stamp Set! It’s called Designer Typeset! They work amazingly with our new Firm Foam Stampin’ Pads for great ink coverage. You are going to love them! This is a limited release so make sure you get one before it’s gone!

Paper Craft Crew #42 & Sneak Peek

Hey, what’s up?! How are things by you? Things here are ok. It was chilly again today but it’s supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow but we are to have some rain again. Are you enjoying your sneak peeks of the new catalog goodies? I’m having a great time playing with them! Only a few more weeks and we can get some more new stuff! Yeah!

Today’s post – Paper Craft Crew Design Team Sketch #42…

PCCCS042 Sketch 5-15-2013

I’m liking when things are slightly askew on cards more and more. The base of my card is Pear Pizzaz Card stock. I used the Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on some Island Indigo for the background. The paper is from the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper Pack*. The large greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set* and is stamped in Night of Navy. I used the 7/8″ Scallop Circle punch to create the flower and a Vintage Faceted Designer Button is in the center. The happy birthday is from the Wishes Your Way Stamp Set. I love the bright colors with the splash of Night of Navy in the DSP. Thanks for coming by to see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Head on over to the Paper Craft Crew blog to see what the other designers have come up with. I hope that you have a thoroughly enjoyable day! 🙂
