Nautical Tags Birthday

A very good Sunday morning to you! I had a nice day in Manhattan yesterday, it was great to see Jim and Diane and catch up with them. After I left their house I met up with Kim and we went to a little Italian place called Felice for lunch and I had the best homemade ravioli! We stopped back at Kim’s apartment for a bit and then headed downtown. At 14th Street we said good bye and I headed over to the Westbeth Center to meet up with Barbara and catch up with her. There are some fun things in the works at The Ink Pad so stay tuned for more on that! I made it home from the city just in time to say goodbye to my Aunt and Uncle, it was great to have them here and they will be missed. This morning I’m headed back into Manhattan to work at The Ink Pad for the day so if you are around come by and say hello!

My friend Michael is on a roll, he has another post today for the Mojo Monday sketch! Some more really neat Halloween cards! You can check them out HERE! 🙂

My friend Danielle had asked me for a birthday card for her boyfriend’s dad’s birthday. He is a big boat fan so this is what I came up with. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. Down the left side is a piece of paper from the Authentique Seaside 6×6 Paper Pad. I used the Simon Says Stamp Large and Small Tags dies to cut out a piece of Night of Navy and another piece of Seaside Paper. On the larger tag I used the Project Life Corner Rounder to round the bottom corners. Using the Simon Says Stamp Sailboat Die I cut the negative from the smaller patterned paper tag and then tied them together with some Hemptique Natural Hemp Cord. They are then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. A piece of Smoky Slate is cut out with the middle size Simon Says Stamp Splashy Waves Die, stamped with Happy Birthday from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set in Night of Navy and adhered to the bottom of the tag. My anchor is a piece of Solar White 110lb that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Set Sail Dies and then covered in Versa-Mark and Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder, it’s heat set and then adhered to card with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. Finally, a few red enamel dots from Recollections are added and complete the card. Danielle was quite happy with the card and I hope that the recipient was too! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card, thanks very much for visiting and have a simple Sunday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 270

That was an interesting Friday. I found out at work that they are having cuts and my job has been eliminated. I have to go in on Monday and see if there are any other positions available that I would be interested in. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so I need to think about what I want to do. I would like to get a job that I really enjoy or maybe find some way to work for myself. Any suggestions would be appreciated! To go along with that cheerful news it rained here all day yesterday. But I’m off to Manhattan this morning and then at The Ink Pad tomorrow so it will be a good weekend!

And yes, Michael has yet another post for you! That’s three in a row! He’s definitely on a roll! You can take a look at his latest creation HERE!

Now on to today’s card, it’s for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 270

I went with a birthday card, they are something that I need to add to my ever growing stash! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. It’s cut to 4″ wide and I heat embossed the chevrons from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder down the left side. A piece of Always Artichoke is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered next to the chevrons with SNAIL. My frame is cut from Sahara Sand using the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Frame Die. I heat embossed the heart image from the same set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Blackberry Bliss and adhered it to the frame with 2-Way Glue. The frame is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The happy is also from the same set and is heat embossed in White on Always Artichoke and adhered to the heart with Foam Tape. To balance the card a bit I cut out the 2 and u from more Always Artichoke using the Papertrey Ink Block Alphabet and Numbers Dies. They are adhered to the card with more 2-Way Glue. You knew there had to be some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins on there somewhere so I did a scattering of them around the heart. I love that geometric heart and the typed sentiments in the I See You Set, so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge! Thanks very much for coming by today! I wish you all a fun Saturday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 206

It was another overcast day here until around 5:30 and then the sun came out. We are to have another rainy day today, I guess it’s making up for all of the nice weather we had over the summer! Last night I took my aunt and uncle out to Jackie Riley’s Pub for a few drinks and we met up with Brian. I’m not one to go out to a bar but we had a really nice time! I even ran into my friend Victoria, always nice to see her! A pretty good night for a Wednesday!

Before I headed out last night I made my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 206

A simple shaker card, well about as simple as a shaker card can get, and something nice and bright too! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The panel is a piece of Solar White 80lb, I cut out the negative circle with the Circles Collection Framelits. I used the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Circle and Circle Loops dies to cut out some Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Real Red. The Happy Birthday is adhered around the negative circle with 2-Way Glue along with the rest of the die cuts. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet to the back of the panel. Another circle is cut from a piece of 1/4″ Fun Foam and that is then adhered to the back of the panel with SNAIL. Some confetti that I got from Party City is added and the panel is then adhered to the card with some more SNAIL. Like I said, as simple as a shaker card can get and nice and bright! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for stopping by and have a terrific Thursday! 🙂

Butterfly Postage Wishes & BA

Good day everyone! I’m back in NY, missing my cousins already. We went our for a breakfast yesterday before heading to Heathrow. It started to pour once we got to the airport. Tracey and Jules waited with us for  a long while, we even sat and had a Costa Coffee before we said our goodbyes. The flight home on British Airways was really nice! We sat in Club World with the nice big seats that turn into a flat bed! Lunch was delicious and so was the snack before landing. My friend Betty met us at the plane and walked with us through to baggage claim and we were out in 15 minutes! Heather and Stephanie picked us up and Heather and I had our movie moment! LOL! I unpacked last night and went to be early so that I can try and reset my clock. Today I have some cleaning to do and then finally sit down and make a card, the first time in over two weeks! That has been the longest for me in over 4 years! Wish me luck! Here are some pictures from the plane yesterday…

BA Club World Seats

Our nice big comfy seats, and yes, you sit facing the back of the plane!

BA Club World TV

A view from the seat just as we were flying out into the Atlantic.

Now on to today’s card which I actually made before I left. The card base is the usual Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the “Vintage” Dictionary Background Stamp in Smoky Slate on a piece of Solar White 80lb. Down the left side is one of the stamps from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set stamped in Real Red and up in the right corner is a stamp from the “Vintage” Office Ephemera Stamp Set stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. Two of the stamps from the same set are stamped in Pacific Point and cut out with my Paper Snips. The butterfly is also from the Butterfly Basics Set and is stamped in Pacific Point, Real Red and Memento Tuxedo Black and then cut out with the Bold Butterfly Framelits. I adhered the background to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL, the stamps are adhered with SNAIL and the butterfly and greeting are adhered with Foam Tape. For the greeting I cut out a piece of Solar White 80lb with the Papertrey Ink Just the Ticket Border Die and stamped it from the Butterfly Basics Set in Memento Tuxedo Black. I resisted the urge to add some sequins, LOL! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card! Thanks for sticking with me through these last two weeks and I wish you all a terrific Thursday! 🙂

SIP Challenge 13 – Theme!

Hi there! I hope that your week is off to a good start! We spent some more time wandering around London yesterday. Brian had the idea that we should go to the Science Museum and that was a lot of fun. I haven’t been to a museum in forever. We had a late lunch at a pizza shop that had wood fired sourdough crust pizza and it was delicious! More like Italian pizza than American. On the way home we stopped by my Uncle Bruce’s and I set up his new laptop for him. The other day we went to Hyde Park and Paddington Station. Here are a few pictures from that!

Hyde Park Serpentine

The entrance that I always use to get into Hyde Park is Lancaster Gate and when you walk in this is what you see.

Peter Pan HP

As you walk in a little further you get to the Peter Pan Statue.

Paddington Station Entrance

The entrance from Prade Street to Paddington Station.

Paddington Station Inside

The platform at Paddington.

Paddington at the Station

There is a store inside the station when you can go and get Paddington Bear merchandise and this is the little guy that greets you!

So, it’s Tuesday, time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge and since it’s my birthday this weekend we have a birthday theme for you…

SIP Birthday Theme 13

I used some of my favorite colors to make one of my favorite kinds of cards! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Balloons Craft Dies to cut out the negative from a piece of Solar White 80lb Card Stock and also a piece of Fun Foam. To make sure that I got the stamped balloons inside the window I traced the balloon onto the card base. All of the images are from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Balloons Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the balloons in Simon Says Stamp Teal and Mint Ink, the stars are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. Some Window Sheet is adhered to the back of the negative die cut and then the Fun Foam is adhered to the back of that. Before adhering the window to the card I cut out the Simon Says Stamp Happy Birthday Craft Die from a piece of Black Card Stock with some Stick-It on the back. The Stick-It makes the intricate die cut much easier to adhere to the Window Sheet. A generous dose of Martha Stewart Iridescent Hearts and Stars Glitter is added before adhering the window piece. A fun shaker birthday card if I do say so myself! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Birthday Theme Challenge! Head on over to the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards and enter your one in the gallery! Thanks for stopping by today, I hope that you are still enjoying the London pics and I wish you all a lovely Tuesday! 🙂

SIP Challenge 12 – Colors!

Today’s the day, I’m off to the airport this afternoon to make my way to London! I still have to pack, I know, I should have done that already. Yesterday was kind of a relax and catch up day. I made a bunch of cards and watched some TV. Sandy stopped by for a little bit, we are going to have a dinner date when I get back. I’m going to try and have lunch with Heather today and then Andrew will be by around 3:00 to pick me up. Tomorrow’s post will be later in the day as I will be five hours ahead for the next two weeks. I hope that you will come along to London and Paris with me! I’ll have lots of pictures and cards for you!

Today is Tuesday so it’s time for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge! This time around we have a fun color combo for you…

SIP Color Challenge 12

Yes! A black and white and then your choice of any other color! My card today begins with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripes Background Stamp and Black Ink to create my background. My main panel is Solar White 110lb. The stamps are from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Bits Photopolymer Stamp Set. I used some Simon Says Stamp Mint Ink to stamp the solid balloons with the outlines, strings, bows and greeting stamped in Simon Says Stamp Slate Ink. The panel is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. To finish the card I adhered a few Hazel & Ruby The Makery Green with Envy and Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins with Ranger Multi-Medium Matte to the panel. I love the bold black stripes with the deconstructed look of the balloons! I hope that you like my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Color Challenge! Typeset Inked Leaves

It’s Saturday, I went into Manhattan yesterday with Brian to get his passport, again, don’t ask! We stopped by The Ink Pad and I ran in and said hello to Barbara then we stopped at Max Brenner so Brian could pick up some chocolate for Kim (his Kim!). Luckily when we got to Kim’s (my Kim!) we got a space right outside the building. We had to go and get the couch, fit it in the elevator and then bring up from the basement. Thankfully it wasn’t too heavy! The traffic wasn’t too bad on the way home either. We took the old couch out of my house and put the new one in and then ran my couch over to Heather’s. While we were there we re-arranged the furniture and then I went back to Brian’s, he made me a quesadilla and then I came home and puttered around in the Stampin’ Galley for a bit. Michael got here around 10:00. We watched some TV and then called it a night. Later on today we are going to have lunch with his dad and step-mum and then tonight, much to my dismay, I will take him to the airport. I’m happy that he was here for the summer, I had a fantastic one thanks to him!

Today I have a simple masculine birthday card. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Solar White 80lb with the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripes Background Stamp in Simon Says Stamp Black Ink and cut it out with the Simon Says Stamp Postage Stamp Edge Frames along with a piece of Basic Black that is adhered to the striped piece with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Next up I took a piece of Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper and inked it with Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue Ink and my Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool. It’s is then adhered to a piece of Solar White 80lb with a Glue Stick and die cut using the Simon Says Stamp Clustered Leaves Die. A few Glue Dots adhere it to the card. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. Like I said, simple and definitely masculine! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and I thank you so much for stopping by! Have a sensational Saturday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 265

A super happy Friday to you! Yes, I’m off from work until September 21st! Michael stopped by the office yesterday and said goodbye to everyone and then I did the same. I did manage to get out of work at 2:00 and I came home and made a few cards and then went to Smashburger for dinner with Michael and Taylor. We stopped off and got some dessert on the way home and then I helped Michael with some pictures on his computer. I still can’t believe that he is going home tomorrow. This afternoon I’m going to take a ride into Manhattan with Brian to pick up his passport, don’t ask, LOL! We are also going to stop by Kim’s and get a couch that she’s giving me and then take my couch over to Heather. Tonight Michael is going to stay by me and then tomorrow night I will take him to JFK. Bummer.

One of the cards that I made yesterday is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 265

A super simple sketch and I got my Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit yesterday so I had to play with it! The base of today’s card is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card stock with a piece of Basic Black covering the front. For the background I used a piece of paper from the PInkFresh Studios Happy Things 6×6 Paper Pad. The main panel is a piece of Solar White 80lb backed with some more Basic Black. The images are from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Bits Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Teal, Teeny Bikini and Duckling Ink. The outlines are stamped in Smoke and the strings and bows in Memento Tuxedo Black. My greeting is from the same set and is heat embossed on a piece of Basic Gray in White Hero Arts Embossing Powder. I adhered the panel to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL, tucking the greeting underneath. To balance the card I adhered some Pretty Pink Posh Spring Mix, Hazel & Ruby The Makery Green with Envy and Essentials by Ellen Iridescent Gray and Matte Black Sequins with some Ranger Multi-Matte Medium on the right side of the panel. I love all of the goodies that you get in this month’s kit especially the fun stamp set! I really hope that you enjoy today’s card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! Gold Mint Shining Star Birthday

Hi there! I aim to be a bit more productive today than I was yesterday! After my lazy morning Michael and I headed over to see Renee at Scrap-A-Latte. The weather was perfect yesterday for a nice ride in the convertible. When we finished there we headed to Friday’s for some dinner and then came back to the house and saw Taylor for a bit. We watched a little TV and then Michael went back to Sue’s and I made a card and puttered around a bit before calling it a night. Let’s see what today brings!

Oh, I almost forgot! Michael made a super clean card for the Freshly Made Sketches 200th sketch! You can check it out by visiting his blog HERE!

The card is a somewhat simple birthday card, I wanted to use a new die that Michael had gotten me! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb and the front is covered in a piece of Basic Black. I put a strip of Little B Washi Tape down the right side of a piece of Mint Macaroon and adhered that to the card. Another piece of Basic Black is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags Dies and some Hemptique Black Hemp Twine is tied though the top. I adhered the tag to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The star is that new die I mentioned from Spellbinders called Shining Star. I cut it out from Gold Foil Sheet and adhered it to the tag with Foam Tape. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Happy Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Mint Macaroon and also adhered to the tag with Foam Tape. A scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins completes the card. I love the Mint Macaroon and Black together and that star is just so cool! I hope that you enjoyed today’s birthday card! Thank you for talking some time out of your day to come by and visit me! Have an excellent Sunday! 🙂
