  • Pals Paper Arts 229

    Happy Black Friday! Are you out and standing in a line somewhere to get a 70″ TV for $200?!?! LOL! I used to do Black Friday years ago but now with online shopping I see no reason to be cold for an extended period of time! I was looking at the LED TV’s and it’s crazy to see how cheap they are now! They are a lot of good deals out there but it’s way too early for me to start Christmas shopping, I prefer to wait until days before. Not always a good idea but I do it every year and there is no sense living in denial. My friend Kim finished her Christmas shopping in September! Now that to me is just crazy! LOL! I trust that you all had a nice Thanksgiving! Mine was quiet, just my parents and Taylor for dinner and that was at 1:00. I took my friend Chantal to the airport, which I have never seen so empty in all the times that I have been there! Traffic was a little heavy on the way back but not too bad. I stopped at Michaels to see Taylor, she told me not to go up there, she wants no customers so they will close next year! Of course I had to go! LOL! I came home and crafted for a while, watched some TV and then off to bed. A quiet low key Thanksgiving and I was quite happy with that!

    Today I have my card for this week’s fun Pals Paper Arts sketch…

    Lots of circles! This was one of those sketches that I knew exactly what I was going to do as soon as I saw it! My card starts off with a base of Pool Party Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out some Silver Foil Sheet and “frames” for all of them. The frames are cut from Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate. Some Multi-Purpose Glue holds to frames to the foil sheet and them to the card. My greeting is from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Lost Lagoon. The left side is flagged and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I scattered a few Frosted Sequins around and adhered them with Crystal Effects to add a little more sparkle to the card. I like using the Crystal Effects to adhere the sequins because it dries nice and clear and you can’t see it in the holes in the middle of the sequins. And there you have my fun shiny circle card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the card and the post! Thanks for stopping by!   • Freshly Made Sketches 164

    Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope that you will be spending the day with family and friends and enjoying good food and lots of laughter! I’m going to go over to my parents for dinner and I have to take my friend Chantal to the airport. She is off to Paris to meet up with friends and see her family, I’ll admit that I’m a bit jealous! I told her that the next time I give her a ride to the airport I would appreciate a ride on the plane with her! LOL! Yesterday I got out of work a whopping 30 minutes early! I stopped by to see Heather on my way home and then when I got home Andrew was here! I always love a little surprise visit! He left around 6:30 and I went and ate some dinner and then ran to Target with Taylor. We came back and watched a movie and then I made my card for today. I slept in this morning, later than I wanted to but again the bed was so cozy! LOL!

    I have a nice simple card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jen B….

    I began today’s card with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and adhered a piece of Kraft Card Stock with some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine wrapped around it and tied in a bow to cover the entire front of the base. My panel in the middle is another piece of Kraft that I heat embossed with the dots from the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and backed it with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. I die cut the noel three times and adhered them to each other with Multi-Purpose glue and pressed them into my Versa-Mark Pad, then I coated them with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it. I repeated the process one more time to give it a little extra shine and adhered it to the card with more Multi-Purpose Glue. I really do love that Kraft Card Stock and the built up noel with the clear embossing gives it a very nice look! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.   • Paper Craft Crew 120

    And today is Friday for me! Yippee! I actually think that my entire department is off on Friday! I’m hoping to have a productive 4 day weekend. I really need to get my house organized and cleaned up! Today was another quiet day at the office and when I got to my parent’s house little Daniel was there with his little boo boo. He is so funny, I don’t think that he even knows its there. He is still running all over the place with abandon! He goes to get his stitches out on Friday and they will see if there is anything else that needs to be done. He is always such a happy boy as you can see from this picture…

    He is growing up so fast! He’ll be talking before too long, he tries to now and gets a little annoyed when you don’t know what he’s saying! After dinner I made my card and then Heather and I went to the shoe store, MJM. I needed some new shoes desperately! I got a pair of boots and two pairs of Ben Sherman dress shoes. One pair is blue suede with red laces! Fun!

    Michael has another post using that really cool bird stencil! I think this is the most he has posted in a while! Keep on going over to see what he is up to! You can see the card HERE! 🙂

    It’s Wednesday and that means that it’s time for another Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS120 Sketch 11-26-2014

    I saw that vast space in the middle and thought shaker card! LOL! The base for today’s card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. To make the front shaker portion I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Cherry Cobbler and Smoky Slate. I also cut out the Window Sheet and the window with them too. The city skyline is from the Calling All Heroes Photopolymer Stamp Set and the sleigh is from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set, both are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I adhered some of the Frosted Sequins that I used to fill the shaker part to the background so all of the sequins don’t fall to the bottom. My greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The flags are punched from some Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Banner Punch and the strip is Basic Black. Some assembly and a few more Frosted Sequins and the card is done. I am still loving that stitched detail from the Lawn Fawn dies, it adds just a little extra! And there you have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.     Technically it’s Thursday today! LOL! Well, Tuesday but no work on Thursday and Friday so we’ll say it’s Thursday! Yesterday was a quiet day at the office and the rest of my department had a charity event last night so they left at 2:30. When I got home I had some dinner and made my card for today. I had a few errands to run so I went and picked up Heather and we headed over to Target. The rest of the evening was spent relaxing for a bit. I was debating on whether or not I was going to work on Friday and I think that I will skip it! Are you all ready for your Thanksgiving festivities? I just have to show up at the parents house! Oh, I do have to take my friend Chantal to the airport on Thursday, she’s off to Paris for a bit to see her family. I’m a little jealous! My friend Michael is on a roll with another post today! He used Glossy Accents (Crystal Effects) to make a funky ornament and necklace. Click HERE to take a look!

    Yay! Tall & Skinny! I took my unusual color combo from the Designer Series Paper! The card base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is Crisp Cantaloupe. I used a piece of Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper for my angled piece across the card. Next up is a piece of Garden Green that I heat embossed some snowflakes from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on. It’s backed with some Cherry Cobbler and adhered to the card with SNAIL. My image and greeting are from the Making Spirits Bright Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used Prismacolor Pencils to color in the image and backed it with another piece of Cherry Cobbler. A few 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins are adhered with Crystal Effects and then I adhered the image to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I wasn’t too sure about the colors but in the end I really like them together! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.   • Paper Players 223 & Subway Chickens!

    Hello there! How was the weekend? Mine was pretty good, I had a nice time in Manhattan yesterday. The weather was perfect, I did a lot of walking, 9 miles to be exact! I love walking in the city. My friend Kim and I met for breakfast at the diner and then we walked across Central Park. I stopped by to see Joe and Penny for a bit and then met up with Kim at 116th Street and Park Avenue. There is a market there called La Marqueta, they have all kinds of food truck vendors and a garden center. We had some really good bacon wrapped pork bites and rice balls with chicken, for dessert some yummy ice cream. I stopped by Kim & Brian’s for some tacos on the way home and then I came home and crafted for a bit. I had the American Music Awards on and got to see Sam sing I’m Not the Only One. Can’t wait to see him in January! My friend Michael made a really cool card yesterday using a little Stampin’ Up! and some stencils. Love the birds! Go and take a look HERE! Oh, yes, I almost forgot, I have some pictures for you too! I thought that the blog post title would intrigue you! There were a few chickens under the subway tracks! There really isn’t anything that you can’t find in Manhattan! LOL!

    A fun day in the city! Since it’s Monday that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

    Paper Players #223

    A sketch from the lovely LeAnne! I had the urge to use some silver, well, a lot of silver! My card base is Basic Black Card Stock. I heat embossed the greeting from the Four You Stamp Set with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder in the lower right corner. I then embossed a pice of Silver Foil Sheet with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch for the little strip across the top punched from Basic Gray. Another piece of Basic Gray that I flagged on the bottom is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the embossed panel. A Silver Basic Metal Button with some Basic Black Baker’s Twine tied in a bow is adhered to the flag with Glue Dots. I used the Four Feathers Stamp Set heat embossed on Vellum in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder for my element on the panel. They are adhered to each other with SNAIL and to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Three Frosted Sequins adhered with Crystal Effects complete the card. It has been a while since I used the feathers, did you miss them as much as I did?! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge!   • Pals Paper Arts 228

    I had a semi-productive Saturday. I began organizing some of the stuff in the Stampin’ Galley and then went out and ran some errands with Heather. I realized around 4:30 that I hadn’t eaten when Andrew texted me to see if we were having dinner. He came over around 7 and we went to Five Guys for some burgers. After, we went to let his friend’s dog out and came back to the house and watched The Da Vinci Code. I am trying to expand Andrew’s horizons as far as movies go. LOL! Thankfully, he said he enjoyed it. I’m off to Manhattan now for a little while to see my friend Kim. What are you up to today?

    The card I have for you today is for this weeks Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

    PPA 228

    I started today’s card off with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. The background is a piece of Smoky Slate embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the panel, I used the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Soft Sky. I stamped the tree in Garden Green and heat embossed the snowflakes with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The house is from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used Smoky Slate and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the door and roof. The lights are stamped in Garden Green and the house is cut out with the Homemade Holiday Framelits and adhered to the panel with SNAIL. The greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set, is stamped in Garden Green and cut out with the banner from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the panel and that finishes the card. Another simple holiday card, but again, I really love the stitching detail on those stitched rectangles.   • Freshly Made Sketches 163

    I’m a little late this morning, I got home late last night and woke up later than I wanted to this morning. It was one of those the bed is too warm and cozy to get out of it mornings! I had a good Friday but poor little Daniel did not. He fell and hit his head on the corner of a marble table and had to go to the hospital. They saw a plastic surgeon and everything should be ok but I felt so bad for the little guy. I was told that it looks much worse than it was, It looks pretty bad to me…

    I probably won’t see him until next week but I’ll let you know how he’s doing. I was on my own for dinner last night so Heather, Kim, Taylor and I took a ride up to the Broadway mall. The girls wanted to do a little shopping and I needed some new threads too. I ended up getting two pairs of pants and two sweaters along with a bottle of my favorite cologne. Heather and I went and got some Chinese food and watched a little TV and ended up chatting until late. Not a bad way to spend a Friday night! Today I have a list of things that I would like to get accomplished, we’ll see how far I get with that! LOL!

    My card for today was inspired by a friends that I pinned yesterday and it’s for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

    I love the Joy to the World sentiment especially when used with a globe! LOL! My card starts off with a base of Garden Green Card Stock. A strip of Soft Sky goes down the left side and on top of that is a piece of paper from the Maritime Designer Series Paper Pack with the right corners rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. The globe is from the Open Sea Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green on Soft Sky and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the “Vintage” Joy to the World Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Vellum with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used a little 2-Way Glue behind the words to adhere it to the card. Not an overly complicated card but I like the colors and the unusual mix of elements. I hope that you enjoy my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.   • Fab Friday 55

    Yay! It’s Friday and next week is a short week! Yesterday was a little warmer and not as windy and even though it’s going to rain on Monday I’m looking forward to temps in the 60’s! Work was the norm yesterday and when I got home little Daniel was there for dinner. He just runs all over the place now, so cute. I went over to Heather’s last night for a little wine night with Stephanie and Andrew, that was fun! I’ll be in Manhattan on Sunday and I’m going to try an attempt to get my house cleaned on Saturday. What’s on for the weekend for you?

    What makes Friday even better? It’s time for another Fab Friday challenge and this time around we have a sketch…

    Fab Fri 55 11-21-2014

    I have been really into the blues again for my Holiday cards and I also stayed pretty true to the sketch. My card base is Island Indigo Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it towards the top of the base. A piece of Pool Party 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon is adhered around the back across the bottom of the Silver with Sticky Strip. My snowflake is from the “Vintage” Festive Flurry Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Vellum in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits. In the middle is a Silver Basic Metal Button with some “Vintage” Pool Party Baker’s Twine tied in a bow. I adhered the button to the snowflake with a Glue Dot and the snowflake to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. My greeting is from the Watercolor Winter Too Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with one of the dies from the Circle Card Thinlits. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place. A nice simple card, again not too difficult to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge.   • Paper Craft Crew 119

    Wow! It’s Wednesday already! Not too bad and I just remembered that Thanksgiving is next week! Yes, I have been in my own little world lately! Where has this year gone?! It was very cold here today, in the 30’s! It always happens too fast don’t you think? I was in a t-shirt last week, today a sweater. I am so not a fan of the winter, but what can you do? Of course since it got cold Taylor thought that it was the perfect time to put her new car stereo in at 7:30 last night. So not only cold but pretty dark too! I did get it finished and she was a happy little camper. The rest of my evening was spent listening to music and thinking way too much. A way to pass the time I guess! LOL! Thank you again for your wonderful comments! I could say it every day and it still wouldn’t be enough! 🙂

    Wednesday, well that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

    PCCCS119 Sketch 11-19-2014

    For some unknown reason as soon as I saw the sketch I thought of an image and had to go digging to find it! The card base for today is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I used a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. Next up is a piece of the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Basic Black. A piece of Silver Foil Sheet punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch goes in the upper left and some Basic Black Baker’s Twine is wrapped around three times and tied in a bow off to the side. I adhered the background to the base with some SNAIL. The image is from the “Vintage” All Aboard Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler. I backed it with some Cherry Cobbler and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love that image of the train and it works so well for a Christmas card! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.   • SUO Challenges 110

    Just as I suspected my inbox was full yesterday morning at work. I did manage to get through it though so we are ready for another fun filled day today! It was rainy and gloomy here all day today, sort of like my mood as of late. I was reading through the comments yesterday and I want to thank you all. Yes, I love to share my creativity with you but I also share a lot about my life and that is one of the most important parts of this blog to me. The connection that I have with so many of you. You are there with words of encouragement and support and that means so much to me. We have shared a lot with each other and I look forward to it each day as I hope that you continue to as well. That being said I am hoping that what is affecting me will work itself out. I have to have faith that it will, that’s enough of the somberness for now. I do have a fun little bit of information to share, I have over 40,000 followers on Pinterst! WHAT?! I still can’t believe it. So if you don’t follow me head on over and do. It’s jrk912. 🙂

    Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Marker Fun challenge. I wanted to do something other than color with them so this is what I came up with. The base for today’s card is a piece of Elegant Eggplant Card Stock. I cut a piece of Watercolor Paper to 4″ x 5 1/4″ for my background. All of the images are from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set from the 2014 Holiday Supplement Catalog. The snowflakes are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To add the color to the background I took the second largest Clear Block E and used my Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Markers to color the block with stripes of alternating color. and a little spray of water from my Stampin’ Spritzer so they would absorb into the Watercolor Paper easier. I left the block on the table and pressed the Watercolor Paper into it, lifted it off and misted the block again and repeated the process. After I lifted it up the second time I was happy with the results. I stamped the greeting on Watercolor Paper too in Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy and used the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits to cut it out. It’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and some Basic Jewels Rhinestones are adhered over the dots. I backed the paper with a piece of Night of Navy and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up off the base. A few Frosted Sequins adhered to the centers of the snowflakes with Crystal Effects finish the card. I love the way the colors turned out on the Watercolor Paper, it almost gives a windy feel to it.
