Paper Players 181

So, the Superbowl was great huh?! Ok, I’ll admit the only thing that I watched was the half-time show. I thought that it was a pretty good show, Bruno Mars sounds good live and appearance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was neat if not a bit odd. There was plenty of food and friends to keep me occupied. My friend Michelle brought over fresh strawberries with caramel, chocolate ganachè, peanut butter and cream cheese dip for them. They were delicious and I had a hard time picking a favorite, so I sampled them a few times! LOL! I also had a nice day in Manhattan, I visited some people in the morning and then met my friend Kim for some lunch. We ate fresh, I had my usual BMT, I haven’t had it in a long time and it was yummy! I then stopped by my friend Julia’s house and her little girl Cecily gave me a card that she made for me. It’s so cute! I think we have a future crafter on our hands!

I even got some pictures for you. I was walking down the famous Park Avenue and snapped these. The first one is facing downtown and the second one is facing uptown.

My post today is for this week’s Paper Players, but before I get to that I wanted to thank LeAnne for choosing my card for her Cut Above in last week’s challenge. You can see my original post HERE and the Paper Players winners post HERE. Now for this week the lovely Anne Marie has given us this theme challenge…

As I was siting there pondering what I was going to do I spied a Vintage set of Framelits and that’s where the idea for this card began. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Coastal Cabana from the Countless Sayings 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. On the bottom part I embossed a piece of Baked Brown Sugar with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My lollipops are form the Sweets for the Sweet Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used bamboo skewers for the sticks and adhered them to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A piece of Window Sheet stamped with the “Vintage” Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set in Opaque White Staz-On and cut out with the “Vintage” Cannery Framelits Dies is adhered to the skewers with more Multi-Purpose Glue. To cover up the glue I cut out a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper with the heart from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I love the Window Sheet stamped with the Opaque White Staz-On, it really does look like glass and the Champagne Glimmer Heart give the card just a little bit of sparkle! Freshly Made Sketches 121

Well, that was a very relaxing Saturday and after my fun week at work I needed it! I spent some time in the morning at the craft desk and got a few projects done. I went out for a bit and ran some errands, I even watched a movie! It definitely was a much needed relaxing day! This morning I’m off to Manhattan for a bit and then later on I’m going over to Brian & Kim’s for a Superbowl party. Will you be attending any parties later on? I won’t lie, I’m in for the commercials and food! LOL!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch this week is provided by Linda…

A super clean sketch, I was a little stumped when I first saw it but I let it sit in my brain for a bit and this is what I came up with. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper. The larger hexagon is also This & That and is cut out with my Paper Snips. I used the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set and some Daffodil Delight to stamp the image on top of the large hexagon and the Hexagon Punch to punch it out. My greeting is from the Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit and is stamped in Calypso Coral and cut out with the Squares Collection Framelits. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the greeting and the hexagon to the card. A sprinkling of grey iridescent sequins finishes off the card. I really am glad that I went digging around in my craft supplies, I had completely forgotten about the Epic Day Designer Series Paper! Catherine & Cathy Create 22

Hello my peeps! Are you as happy that week is over as I am?! Work was actually pretty good yesterday, the job fair went as planned and I even got out an hour early. I met up with Anthony, Danielle and Bill for dinner, yes, we went to Friday’s again. Danielle and I needed more of that Tennessee Whiskey Cake! LOL! It really was that good! We stopped at Target after dinner and I came home and made my card for today. So all in all a pretty good day.

I’m over on the Catherine & Cathy Create blog today for this month’s Hearts a Flutter challenge. We ask that you make a project that has a love theme.

I decided to go with a French theme for my card. The base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background, I stamped the En Français Background Stamp in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla. I cut out three Vellum hearts with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and spritzed them with my concoction of Bermuda Bay Re-Inker and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. After it had dried a little I rubbed my finger across it to give it little bit of a vintage look. The hearts are adhered to the card with Vellum Adhesive. The stamped image is from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede, and cut out with my Paper Snips. A piece of Cherry Cobbler is cut out with the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. Three hearts punched out from Brushed Gold Card Stock with the Small Heart Punch complete the card. I really love the Vellum spritzed with the Bermuda Shimmer mix and yes there are those blue and reds that I can’t see to get away from lately! LOL! Fab Friday 34

It’s Friday! Thank the lord! This week has been a not that great week at work. We have the Job Fair at the college this morning and I need to be there at 7:00. I was working on three different projects all at the same time yesterday, if I was a computer my processor would be fried! LOL! But today will be a good day, I will make it a good day! How’s that for some positive thoughts! I also got to see my buddy Andrew last night, always a nice way to end the day! And you guys always brighten my day with your comments. Danielle wanted me to thank you all for your lovely comments about her card. She showed everyone at work yesterday, she was so proud! Making peoples days brighter, that is what my amazing blog readers do! 🙂

It has been a few week’s but we’re back! It’s time for the Fab Friday challenge!! This week we have a fun color combo for you…

As I looked at I thought… those colors look familiar, where have I… ahh… the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (Cue lightbulb above head! LOL!). The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used a few different patterns from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack for my strips. The Crumb Cake Circle is punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. My flowers are from the Simple Stems Stamp Set and are stamped in Pool Party and Real Red. Have you noticed that when I use this DSP I have a mental block?! I always want to use Pool Party instead of Coastal Cabana! I actually do like the Pool party for the flower though! My greeting, from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set, is stamped Versa-Mark and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Real Red with flagged ends. A few Basic Jewel Rhinestones scattered around complete the card. Not overly complicated but I really do like the layering. Mojo 330 & Guest Card Maker

Ahh… Thursday, one more day to go! Don’t you just love the countdown to the weekend?! I know I do! Most of the snow that we got yesterday morning has blown away, it was nice and windy and cold here again. Work you ask, well it was crazy busy again! I did have a fun evening though. Danielle came over and we went to Friday’s for dinner. We even had some desert, the Tennessee Whiskey Cake and it was mind blowing-ly amazing! After dinner We came back to the house and Danielle sat at the craft desk and made her very first card. It’s a Valentine’s Day card for her boyfriend Derek. I think that she did a fantastic job! I love the colors and there is just enough grey to make it masculine but a good bit of love too! Here it is…

She colored the love in to make it look a little chalky and the Designer Series Paper is the “Vintage” More Amore from last year’s Occasions Catalog. I love the Smoky Slate with the paper, too bad we didn’t have that color last year! 🙂

Now on to my post for today which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

A fun tall & skinny card! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. A piece of Strawberry Slush and a piece of Gold Designer Vellum with some Gold Sequin Trim create the background. Next up is a piece of Blushing Bride that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Sale-A-Bration. I stamped the Flowerful Heart in Strawberry Slush and cut it out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. A piece of Coastal Cabana is cut out with them too and paper-pierced using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack. My greeting is form the “Vintage” Perfectly You Host(ess) Stamp Set form the 2013 Holiday Catalog and is cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it all to the card. I really liked the sketch this week and love the heart hanging off the side of the card. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and my friend Danielle’s card! Paper Craft Crew 78

Yeah, Wednesday! Halfway through! I know, I keep wishing my weeks away in flavor of the weekend. But I really do enjoy my weekends! It’s nice and crisp here and I woke to about another inch of snow. No more complaining, just patiently waiting for winter to finish. Work yesterday was really busy, we have a job fair on Friday and when is the best time to start doing everything of it you might ask… well that would be three days prior. Sadly that’s actually a lot of notice for my place. On a happy note my friend Danielle is coming over tonight and we are going to have some diner and she is going to make her boyfriend a Valentine’s card! It will be her first one! If she lets me I’ll share it with you tomorrow! 🙂

It being Wednesday and all means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This week we have the following for you to work with…

I stayed pretty true to the layout but I also changed things up a bit. The base of my card is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock and the background is a piece of Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper. I cut out a piece of So Saffron with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies and I used the Peachy Keen Stamp Set to stamp the squares in So Saffron. The tag looked a little naked without it! My little shoes and brand new are from the Baby, We’ve Grown Stamp Set, the shoes are stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with my Paper Snips and the brand new in Tangerine Tango and cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies. I flagged both ends of a piece of Coastal Cabana and stamped the greeting from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. Stampin’ Dimensionals help give it a little oomph! So there is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. SUO Challenges 89

Well, we had a little reprieve from the cold today, it got up to 38! That’s warm for us as of late, sad huh?!?! I know that most of the rest of the country is experiencing the same thing as we are here in NY. This has definitely been the worst winter we have had in a long time. Let’s hope that spring gets here quick and that the summer makes up for all of the cold we have had. My day today was quiet, work was calm and I came home and crafted for a bit and then watched a movie. nothing special, just needed to get lost for a little while. I find that if I have a lot on my mind watching something clears it for bit. I also forgot to ask yesterday who watched the Grammy’s? I thought that the best performance of the night was P!nk, that song try is one of my all time favorites! Who did you think was the best?

Today my post is for the SUO Challenges blog. This time around we ask you to create a one layer card! I do love to make them, though they can be a little challenging, I’m more of a layers person myself! My card is a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. All of the stamps are from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set except for the “string” the banners are hung from, that is from the “Vintage” Little Additions Stamp Set. The banners and greeting are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the Eiffel Tower in Soft Suede. Oh, I told a fib, the little Cherry Cobbler Heart is from the Countless Sayings 1 Photopolymer Stamp Set. Neat how it fits right inside the Eiffel Tower! My trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig helped me line everything up perfectly! A simple but fun one layer card. Paper Players 180

It’s Monday again already?! I did have a nice weekend, Saturday was fun and Sunday was relaxing. I ran some errands in the morning and spent some time crafting and the rest of the time surfing the internet. You can always find something to look at on-line. The ways that you can waste your time are almost limitless! Between Facebook, Pinterest and Movie Trailers you could easily kill a whole day! LOL! Oh, Thank you for all of your birthday wishes for my grandmother yesterday, I will be sure and pass them along to her! 🙂

Today is Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week the lovely Ann has an interesting sketch for us…

A little pocket on the front with a tag! My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The pocket for my tag is a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped in Crumb Cake with the Off The Grid Stamp and adhered to the base with Sticky Strip. My greeting is from the Love You More Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder and backed it with a piece of Coastal Cabana. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the pocket. My tag is made with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, I used the same stamp set for the greeting and stamped it three times in Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay. A piece of “Vintage” Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon fashioned into a bow is adhered to the tag and the tag is slipped into the pocket. Three hearts punched out with the Small Heart Punch from Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake complete the card. I do love the idea of the tag in the pocket, it would also be a great place to slip a gift card into! Thank you, as always, for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Happy 95th Birthday!

Yesterday didn’t go as slowly as I would have liked! LOL! I did have a nice day. I spoke to Mr. King in the morning and did some crafting. After that I ran some errands and got my haircut and had lunch with a friend. I had a few hours to kill before I headed out to my work party so I did some research for a project. It started snowing here around 4:00, just enough so I had to clean the car off! I stopped and picked up Danielle and the drive was a little slippery but we made it. The party was fun and I do enjoy the people that I work with. I got home around 11:30 and puttered around the house for bit before turning in for the night. How was your day, do anything fun or exciting?!

My card today is for my Grandmother who lives in Pennsylvania. She is turing 95 on January 30th! I hope I make it that age and be in as good a shape as she is! She loves flowers so I had to put some on the card. The card base is Pear Pizzaz Card Stock and my background is a piece of Soft Sky that I stamped with the Woodgrain Background Stamp inked in Soft Sky. A piece of Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper goes down the left side. I stamped the flower from the Peaceful Petals Stamp Set in Basic Black and colored the flowers in with Soft Sky, So Saffron and Pear Pizzaz Stampin’ Write Markers. The Scalloped Tag Topper Punch was used to create my tag and I rounded the bottom corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. A piece of Pear Pizzaz 3/8″ Seam Binding Ribbon tied with some White Bakers Twine completes the tag. My greeting is from the Simply Sketched Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and punched out with the Large Oval Punch. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the tag and the greeting to the card. Not overly complicated but I love the way the flowers look colored in! Thanks for dropping by to see my card for today and I hope you have a fun Sunday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 189

Ahh… Saturday, your lack of work makes you a wonderful day! LOL! I had an ok day at work yesterday. I got a box of goodies from Stampin’ Up! which is always nice. I came home and mounted some stamp sets and checked some stuff on the computer. Around 6:45 I went over and met up with Brian and we waited for Heather to come and get us so we could go to dinner. We ended up at Chili’s and I have to say that the portion sizes have gotten noticeably smaller, not that it’s a bad thing but there is definitely a lot less on the plate! After dinner we stopped at Walmart to pick up a few things. I have been looking for a backpack to take with me to Manhattan when I have my little overnight stays and I found one that I think I like. Then I stopped at Starbucks on my way home and saw my friend Meghan. Got home, let Winston out and thought about doing some stuff but changed my mind and decided to relax for a bit instead. All in all a pretty good day!

Now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts. This week Nicole has given us an interesting sketch…

My card begins with a base of Gumball Green Card Stock. The first panel is a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper backed with some Island Indigo. The strip across the bottom is also from the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper Pack and is backed with a piece of Smoky Slate. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the base and used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to make my tag. The greeting is from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. A piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is tied with a piece of White Bakers Twine on the tag. A few random Basic Jewels Rhinestones scattered across the Moon finish the card. I was trying to think of a way to use the stamp and I think that a tag is perfect! But then again, I’m a little obsessed with tags lately!
