Fab Friday 24

Ahh… Friday… finally! This week has been crazy busy so I’m so glad to get to the weekend! I plan on spending some quality time with my crafty goodness this weekend. It’s my therapy! Between work and lots to do after work I think I have gotten about 5 hours of sleep every night this week. I need a nap! LOL! How has everything been by you? I have nothing planned for the weekend so it should be a nice relaxing one. I’m having dinner with a friend this evening so that will be fun and a good way to start it off.

On a side note, I’m so glad that you enjoyed the Blog Tour and my “different” Back to School card! 🙂

Today’s post is for Fab Friday. This time around we have a fun soothing color combo for you…

Fab Fri 24 Colors 8-9-2013

Nice soft colors and a neutral! I’m having so much fun playing with the new Thinlits and all of the elements that come with them. There are so many ways to customize them it’s almost unlimited what you can do. My card today starts off with a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock that I cut out with the Circle Card Thinlits Die. I then used my Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the middle of the circle on the card and the piece of Pistachio Pudding that frames it on either side. All of the elements are from either the Circle Card or the Label Card Thinlits. I love the intricate detailed cuts that you get and who doesn’t like some arrows and chevrons! I suspended the xoxo on a piece of Calypso Coral Bakers Twine in the middle of the circle. The background for the inside is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped with the Off the Grid Stamp in Crisp Cantaloupe. It’s neat the way you can line up the stamp to make it cover a larger area (thanks Stamp-a-ma-jig). I really like the suspended element and the flip fold is fun! The Thinlits make it so easy to make an interactive card. Thank you very much for coming by to see my Fab Friday Design Team card for the color challenge. Click on over to the blog and see what my talented mates have come up with and enter your creation in the gallery. We love to see what you have done! I hope that you have a “fab”ulous Friday!!

Catherine & Cathy Create Back to School Blog Hop

CCCBlogHop_Aug2013-001

Happy Thursday peeps! How is it going so far this week? Mine is not too bad, lots going on but that’s the norm no?!?! First I have another birthday wish to send out to my friend Danielle, Happy Birthday Danielle! I know you are on vacation but I miss you and will glad when you are back!!

Today is the Catherine & Cathy Create Blog Hop for August. This month features Back to School projects. I’m hoping that you have arrived from Tiz Barnes blog, didn’t she have some amazing goodies to share?! I was a little stumped as to what to make. I just did a card a little while ago that used the only set that I have that is school related. I was on the phone with my friend Brian, you know him as Stamp with Brian, and he said look at it from a different perspective. So I thought about it for a while and then I remembered that Staples commercial from a few years ago, the one where they are playing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and the parents are gleefully dancing through the aisles as they fill up the shopping card to with school supplies. I laughed and thought maybe I should make a different kind of Back to School card so here it is!

CCC Blog Hop

The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock. The background is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Dictionary  Background Stamp in Pistachio Pudding and mounted it on a piece of Baked Brown Sugar. In the center is another piece of Baked Brown Sugar that I cut out with the Deco Labels Framelits Collection Dies. On it are two champagne glasses that are from the Embellished Events Stamp Set and are stamped in So Saffron and cut out with my Paper Snips. I used some Basic Jewels Rhinestones for the bubbles and a little bling. The greeting at the top is from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set and is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. For the back to school I used the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set and flagged the ends. So there you have it! My Back to School card for all of the parents that get some time in their day back. All of the moms that can now maybe craft a little more with the kids at school. LOL! Thanks for hopping by to see my project for the Catherine & Cathy Create Blog Tour. I hope that you got a little smile out of the card. Now you are off to see Christine Wells, she has some cool projects for you so off you go! 🙂

Catherine & Cathy Create 5 & Paper Craft Crew 53

Yes, you have read the title correctly. I have two Design Team Cards to post today so I have combined them into one post. I didn’t think that you would appreciate getting two emails from me today! Wednesday is my usual day to post my Paper Craft Crew card but Catherine & Cathy had a fun in the Garden challenge and I needed to play with my new Thinlits! You understand right?!?! I will also resume posting my Display Projects tomorrow as I thought three cards in one day was a little too much! On a side note, because you also know how I love to chat about the weather it was another beautiful day here today but they are saying definitely thundershowers tomorrow. Now we can get on to the business at hand!

Oh, one last thing before we get to the cards, I want to wish my friend Carolyn in Australia a very Happy Birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day!

My first card is my Catherine & Cathy Create Design Team card for this week’s In the Garden challenge…

CCC Challenge General Logo

I could not wait to play with the new Thinlits Card Dies! I wanted to make a project similar to the one that Shelli showed us at Convention. The base of the card is Pear Pizzaz Card Stock. I used the Label Card Thilits Dies to cut it out and left the card stock out of the one side to make the card longer so I could fold over the right side. The paper is Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper and I used the label that comes with the Thinlits to cut it so it lined up with the label on the card. The cut out greeting and the banner is also from the Thinlits set. I used the negative on the outside and the cut out on the inside. To hook the front I stamped a piece of Whisper White with the Paper Pumpkin Honeycomb Stamp in Crushed Curry and  cut out a piece of Crushed Curry with the Ovals Collection Framelits to back it. The bee is from the the Backyard Basics Stamp Set and is cut out with the coordinating Framelits. On the inside are two flowers from the Secret Garden Stamp Set cut out with their matching Framelits. The banner is created using some Whisper White Bakers Twine. I stamped the images from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set and punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. They are folded in half and strung across the bakers twine which is held to the card with two 3/4″ Circles. I LOVE the new Thinlits and can’t wait to see what other cool ways there are to use them! Head on over the the Catherine & Cathy Create blog to see inspiration from the other designers and add your card too!

Now for my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew

PCCCS053 7-31-2013

A nice simple sketch that just called for some print style paper. The base of the card is Costal Cabana Card Stock. I used a piece of Wisteria Wonder for a base to put my strips of Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper on for my background. A piece of “Vintage” Basic Gray 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon goes around the lower middle of the card. The greeting is from the Tea Party Stamp Set and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and cut out with my Paper Snips. I backed it with a piece of Costal Cabana that I cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies. A fun simple card with a cool color combo. Head on over to the Paper Craft Crew blog to see the Design Team inspiration and enter your card in the gallery. Thank you so much for indulging me with my double DT post today. I hope you are inspired by the projects and that you enjoy your day!

Mojo 305 & Display Project 10

Howdy peeps! It was another lovely day here on Long Island, not too hot during the day and nice and cool last night. We are supposed to have some rain here and there for the next few days and then back to summer temperatures. Work is crazy busy and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down soon. My friend Danielle is in Florida visiting family and she sent me a picture of a spider yesterday that was as big as her hand. Not a fan of spiders so I told her not to bring it back for me. How is everything going by you, hopefully well!

Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch. This week’s sketch is provided by Julee Tilman….

Mojo305

I got my new Thinlits from the man in brown yesterday and I used some of the elements on today’s card. The base is Real Red Card Stock and the background a piece of Whisper White. Two of the panels have some I Am Me Designer Series Paper, one backed with Calypso Coral and the other with Basic Gray. The middle panel is a piece of So Saffron that I embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Real Red. I adhered a piece of “Vintage” Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon around the lower half and tied a knot around it. The greeting is from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies and is backed with a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits and pierced the edge with the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. All of the pieces are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love the elements in the Thinlits and I can’t wait to play with card piece. Thanks for stopping by to see my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge Card. My tenth Display Project is after the supplies. It uses the Quatrefancy DSP and more from the Mosaic Madness Stamp Set. I hope you enjoy your day! 🙂

Paper Players 157 & Display Project 9

Monday, Monday… back again already! That weekend was a quick but very good! I had a splendid day yesterday, I got a lot of crafting time and it was a beautiful day here. The temperatures dropped a little last night so I got open up the windows and let in some fresh air. Tonight I get to see Sandy and all of the ladies from card class, something that the child and I look forward to every month. What’s going on in your neck of the woods?

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week it’s a fun one! The lovely Anne Marie has given us an anything but a card fall themed project…

Paper Players #157

I do love a 3D project and it has been a while since I have done one. I used one of the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes for the base of my box. I put some of the cool birch paper from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit on either side and slid the plastic cover on. The top greeting is made by cutting out thankful with one of the Expressions Thinlits Dies and using the negative. I backed it with some more of the birch paper and adhered it to the top of the box with some Sticky Strip. The bow is made with Early Espresso Core’dinations and the Gift Bow Bigz L Die. I then embossed it with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and wrapped another small piece of the birch paper around the center to “tie” it all together! I really love the Expressions Thinlits and the negative cut out is just as great as the regular one. I thank you very much for taking some time to come by and see my Paper Players project for this week’s fall themed anything but a card challenge from Anne Marie. Scroll down past the supplies to see my third Display Project using the Mosaic Suite. Enjoy your day! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary & Display Stamper 7

Good Morning from the Hamptons! I had a nice day yesterday apart from the intense traffic. It took a long time to get out her but it’s well worth the trip. You can just hear the ocean from the house that I’m staying in, so peaceful and calming. I spent some time with friends last night and had an impromptu BBQ. It’s nice to get away, even if just for a bit. I hope that your weekend is off to a good start too!

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge…

CCMC 262

Some of my current favorite colors are in there! The base of my card is Smokey Slate Card Stock and the background is a piece of Bermuda Bay that is embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I stamped one of the stamps from the July Paper Pumpkin in Bermuda Bay and Smokey Slate on some Whisper White and punched it out with the Hexagon Punch. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to a piece of Basic Black. The greeting is from the Yippee-Skippee Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay on a piece of Smokey Slate that I cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies. I cut out some more of the hexagon shapes with my Paper Snips and they too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love the color combination and the stamps that came with last month’s Paper Pumpkin and pretty neat! Thank you for coming by to see my Create with Connie and Mary card for this week’s challenge. Scroll down to the end of the post to see the first of my Display Projects using the Quatrefancy Suite. Today I have my Design Team card for Catherine & Cathy Create. This week’s challenge is Here Comes the Bride…

CCC Challenge General Logo

I really like the Love & Laughter Stamp Set. I have used it for so many cards over the past year or so and I think it looks great paired with some of the new catalog goodies. The base of my card is Smokey Slate Card Stock. The background is a piece of Costal Cabana that I embossed with the Beautifully Baroque Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies to cut out a piece of Smokey Slate and embossed that with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper is flagged on the bottom and slipped in behind the label. The image and greeting are both from the Love & Laughter Stamp Set and are stamped in Costal Cabana. I used my Paper Snips to cut out the dress and angled the piece of Whisper White that greeting is stamped on and tucked that behind the dress. I love the color combination and all of the texture the embossing folders give. Thanks for dropping by to see my Design Team card for this week’s Catherine & Cathy Create Here Comes the Bride challenge. Check out the blog to see the other design team projects and enter yours in the gallery. After the supplies list is my second to last Hello, Lovely Display Stamper project and it’s a scrapbook page! Paper Craft Crew 52, CCMC 261 & Display Project 4

Happy Wednesday! We are halfway through the week! Dinner last night was very nice. We went to a mexican restaurant called Cara Cara in Farmingdale. The food was delicious and the company was great. I work with a very nice bunch of people and for that I am grateful! The weather around here has been very pleasant these past few days. Warm during the day and cooling off at night. I realized this morning I’m getting a little behind with my posts and that I hadn’t done my Create with Connie and Mary entry which closes today. So I have my CReate with Connie and Mary card and my Display Stamper project number 4 at the end of the post too!

Today’s main post is for the Paper Craft Crew Sketch 52…

PCCCS052 7-24-2013

I used some newly acquired Designer Series Paper and I’m loving the colors in it! The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock and the background is a piece of Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper. I also used some for one of the double ended flagged pieces, the other is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. The image is from the Cycle Celebration Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay, I backed it with a piece of Gumball Green and a thin strip of Summer Starfruit goes across the top. The greeting is from the A Round Array Stamp Set and I stamped it in Summer Starfruit and Bermuda Bay. The Summer Starfruit one is punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and backed with a piece of Bermuda Bay that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. The middle of the Bermuda Bay one is cut out with the smallest of the Circle Collection Framelits Dies. I really do love the colors in the DSP and the bicycle is pretty neat too. Thank you for stopping by today to see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team Card for this week’s sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog to check out the other design team member’s projects and enter yours in the gallery. Scroll down to see my Create with Connie and Mary card and the fourth Display project. When I saw the sketch I thought Paper-Piercing and then I thought let’s mix it up! The base of the card is Old Olive Card Stock. The main panel is a piece paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack*. I punched a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper with the Scallop Edge Border Punch and adhered it on the left side. For the greeting I stamped an image from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set* in Baked Brown Sugar and punched it out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch. Around that is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I punched out with the 2 3/4″ Scallop Circle punch and cut the middle out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies. The ornaments is from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set* and is punched out with the Christmas Ornament Punch*. A nice fun traditional color card with some sparkle!

Yup, it was definitely a Monday yesterday! It was a little long and busy, not my favorite day. How was your day yesterday? I did get to come home and craft though so all is was good in the end. 🙂 Tonight I’m going out to dinner with my co-workers and that should be a lot of fun. I like them and I think we are having Mexican and I like that too! I have my third Display Stamper project for you at the end of the post so don’t forget to take a look, no cheating! LOL!

Today’s post is my card for the SUO Challenges Design Team. This time around we have a Back to School theme for you…

76 Back to School

I don’t really have anything current that I could think of so I dusted off an oldie but a goodie! The base of my card is Pacific Point Card Stock. The background is a piece of Real Red that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Yes, I created the piece of notebook paper with my Stampin’ Write Markers and the “Vintage” Spiral Border Punch (a favorite of mine!). I used Melon Mambo and Pool Party as I thought they were the closest to actual notebook paper colors. All of the images are from the “Vintage” First Day Stamp Set. The A+ is punched out with the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch and backed with a piece of Gumball Green that is punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch. I used some Whisper White Bakers Twine on the tag and the apples are punched out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. I really love the primary colors and the images in the set are still pretty neat. I also love that Alphabet Press EF! Thank you for taking some time to stop by and see my SUO Challenges Design Team card for the Back to School challenge. Head on over to the blog and see what my talented team mates have done and enter your project in the gallery. I hope you have a great day and don’t forget about the Display Stamper 3 project at the end!

Now on to the good stuff! First up we have this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week the lovely LeAnne has give us a very nice sketch…

Paper Players #156

I really like it! I also thought it would be perfect to use a new goodie that I have. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Whisper White with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The horizontal layer is a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack* and I backed it with a piece of Old Olive. The brads are actually some “Vintage” Everyday Enchantment that I lightly sanded and heat embossed with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The vertical Layer is one of the Season of Style Designer Journaling Tags*. They are designed for the new Divided Pages in the 2013 Holiday Catalog but I thought they might work for cards too. I backed it with a piece of Baked Brown Sugar and added two thin Strips of Champagne Glimmer Paper for some sparkle. I think the journaling tag works quite well on a card and did you notice, there is no stamping! Oh no! LOL! Thank you very much for stopping by to visit and see my Paper Players Card for this week’s sketch from LeAnne. Don’t forget to scroll down and see my Display Stamper card #2! Have a great day! 🙂
