Paper Craft Crew #36

Well this week is moving right along! How is it going for you? Work is insanely busy for me and has been for a while. hopefully things will slow down soon. Today I am working from 8:30am until 11:00pm, that’s a long day! The weather was chilly and windy here again yesterday, it’s supposed to be cold until Thursday and then it’s supposed to finally warm up. Spring, not so far around here!

Today’ post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This week we have a nice sketch with the possibility for some layers…

PCCCS036 Sketch 4-03-2013

I have been really into Pool Party lately, it is definitely one of my favorite colors. It works great as a neutral and looks nice with so many different colors or can easily stand on it’s own. For the base of my card I used Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pool Party that is embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The paper in the middle is from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper Pack. A piece of Silver Glimmer Paper is on the left and I punched a piece of Pool Party with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack with a Basic Jewel Pearl in the middle for the little flower. The main panel is a piece of Pool Party that I embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with a piece of Basic Gray. For the stamped image I choose one from the Circle Circus Stamp Set and stamped it in Pool Party and punched it out with the 1 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. It’s mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and I put a Basic Jewels Pearl in the center. The greeting is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party. I use the Decorative Label Punch to punch it out and adhered it to the card under the main panel with some SNAIL. Three more pearls are adhered under the DSP on the left to finish off the card. I really love the colors and the glimmer paper gives it just the right amount of sparkle. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Check out the other design team projects over at the blog and upload one of your cards for me to see. Thank you for taking some time to see what I’m up to and I hope you have a lovely day!

It’s Tuesday and that means that it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This time around we have an interesting sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo287

Since I got my This and That Bundle today I had to play! The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pool Party that I stamped with the Netting Background Stamp in Crumb Cake and then sponged some Crumb Cake over it. The Tea Lace Paper Doily is spritzed with some Early Espresso Ink from my Stampin’ Spritzer and some more Crumb Cake is sponged on too. A piece of Calypso Coral is cut out with the Petal Cone Bigz L Die and yes, sponged with still more Crumb Cake. The two pieces of paper are form the This and That Epic Day Designer Series Paper Pack. I backed both of them with some Very Vanilla to make them a little more sturdy. I do that when I am using Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount DSP to a card. On the top piece I rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. Three 3/16″ Metallic Brads are in the upper left corner. I used the new Remember This and That Rotary Stamp to stamp the date on the bottom in Basic Gray. The stamped image is form the A Round Array Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party, punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, and yes, sponged with more Crumb Cake. I punched a piece of Crumb Cake with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch to back it. The Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool supply the pierced edge. They are mounted to each other and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and also hold the piece of Calypso Coral that is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and, well you know! I really do love the new This and That products, they have some great colors and fun distressed looks to them. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. Thanks for dropping by and have a nice day! 🙂

SplitCoast Creative Crew April Challenges

Another speedy weekend and back to Monday we go. I did have a very nice weekend. Saturday night I went to see my friend Andrew’s Acapella group perform and they won! After that my friend Heather and I went to John’s Pizzeria in the Theater District for a very late dinner. I will tell you that the pizza is amazing! If you are ever in Manhattan put that on your list of places you must go to eat! Yesterday I worked on the Christening invites, everything is cut and stamped I just have to assemble them. A very busy but productive weekend! I hope that you had a good weekend and some family time on Easter Sunday.

Today I have my post for this month’s SplitCoast Creative Crew Challenges. This is my last month as a guest designer with them and I have to say it has been a lot of fun. A very nice group with some really good challenges, I enjoyed every one of them. Today I have three cards for you, all very different. One modern one, a semi-vintage one and a nice manly one!

The first card is for the DSP/Color Focus. They ask: It’s almost time to say goodbye to the 2011 In Colors. This month, show us the beauty of Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party! To challenge yourself, focus on your least favorite of these colors. I didn’t focus on my least favorite colors because I actually like all of the 2011-2013 In-Colors and will miss the ones that are going away. I did decide to go very modern and simple with my card though. The base is Basic Gray Card Stock that I cut to 8 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and folded. The panels are Calypso Coral and Pool Party. I stamped the images in the same colors from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set and rounded two of each panels corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The greeting is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I flagged the right side of the piece and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the simple modern look and I have been really into leaving things off the edge of the card lately.

The second card I have for you is for the Creative Focus. They ask: This month, let’s show off our new paper piercing tools! Located on Page 181 of the Main Catalog and on Page 27 & 36 of the Spring Catalog, these can add a great accent to any project! Challenge yourself to add piercing to your card in a new way. If you don’t have the paper piercing tool, use a pushpin! Now we all know that I love a little paper-piercing! I wanted to try it on vellum and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. The base of the card is Naturals White Card Stock. I stamped the greeting from the One in a Million Stamp Set in Early Espresso. The layers in the middle start with a Tea Lace Paper Doily. Next up I took a piece of Tea for Two Designer Series Paper and a piece of Vellum Card Stock and held them together while I used the 1/2 Circle Punch to create the ticket corners on them. I then used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and my Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the piece of vellum. Some SNAIL holds the vellum to the DSP. A piece of Bashful Blue is flagged on either end and pierced across the top and bottom edges. The butterfly is form the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and is cut from Calypso Coral. I embossed it using the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, adhered it to the flagged piece with SNAIL and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A pice of Lucky Limeade is punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and is used to back the 5/8″ Flower Trim that is adhered with Mini Glue Dots. The little butterfly on the bottom is a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. I’m so happy with the piercing on the vellum. It’s so nice and crisp!

CCREW0413CF

My final card is for the Holiday Focus. For this one they ask: Holiday focus: Let’s make cards for the men in our lives! I need these often, and I don’t make them enough. Challenge yourself by using a non-masculine set to make your masculine card or by trying a new technique. I knew exactly what set I wanted to use but I mixed it with a set that I don’t normally think of for masculine cards. The card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock. I used the Chevron Textured impressions Embossing Folder with some Pool Party Core’dinations Card Stock, I distressed it with that Stampin’ Distress Tool, then adhered it to the card base with SNAIL. The two flagged pieces are adhesive cork shelf liner that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. The circle and #%&@! are from the Dude, You’re Welcome Kit. The circle is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. The #%&@! is stamped in Early Espresso and cut out with my Paper Snips. Both are adhered to each other and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Happy and Birthday are from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set, are stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. They too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I guess it doesn’t get more masculine than a fill in the blank swear word in the middle of the card!

I hope that you enjoyed my cards for this month’s SplitCoast Creative Crew Challenges. I want to thank the crew again for inviting me to a part of their team for the past four months. I had a great time! Thank you for coming by to see what I was up to today. I hope you have a pleasant Monday!

Paper Players #139 :-)

Hey there! Happy Easter! How is your weekend so far? Mine is pretty good. I got a lot of my projects done yesterday and I will finish them up today. It was beautiful here yesterday, 60 degrees and sunny. I went for a little ride in the car with the top down. It felt so nice to feel the sun and the breeze. It’s supposed to be nice here this morning but get overcast later. Any egg hunts should be completed in the first half of the day! I’ll be having some dinner with my family later, good times.

Today being Sunday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week we have a Tic-Tac-Toe from Jaydee…

Paper Players #139 Tic-Tac-Toe 3-31-2013

I did the the diagonal from top left to bottom right, although I hit a few of the other boxes too. At least I didn’t try to do them all like the last time! LOL! I did do something a little different with my card today too. For the first time I made a hybrid card using the This and That Epic Day Digital Kit. I downloaded it from Stampin’ Up! and created a project in My Digital Studio. I just laid out some of the embellishments on an 8 1/2″ x 11″ page and shared the project as a JPEG. I opened it in Preview on my Mac and I printed it out. My Paper Trimmer and Paper Snips took care of the rest. The base of the card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock. The background, tickets, chevrons and tag are all form the This and That Epic Day Digital Kit. The tickets and chevrons are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I backed the note tag with a piece of Basic Gray, rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder, and punched a hole in the top where I threaded some Linen Thread. Some Gumball Green and the Little Leaves Sizzlit supply the greenery. I created the flowers using the new A Round Array Stamp Set form the 2013-2014 Catalog. They are stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Basic Jewels Pearls finish off the card. I love the This and That Epic Day goodies. I’ll get my actual products tomorrow but I had so much fun making the card with the print outs I will definitely do it again! I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge from Jaydee. Stop by the blog to see what my fellow designers have for you and add your card to the gallery! Thank you for checking in with me today. Once again, Happy Easter!

Create with Connie and Mary 245

Hello peeps! Happy Saturday! How are we doing? I’m good today, yesterday was an extremely busy day at work. The weather was nice, it got up to 54 degrees, yes I had the top down in the car again. I had a nice dinner at IHOP with Anthony, Danielle and Bill, I do like some breakfast for dinner! The first half of today is reserved for crafting and later on this evening my friend Heather and I will be off to Manhattan to see a friend of ours perform in an acapella group competition. I have never been to one of these so it should be fun. What are all of you doing this weekend?

Today I have my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary challenge. This week the ladies have given us a simple sketch…

CCMC 245

I do love a CAS card, especially lately. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock that I cut to 3 3/4″ x 11″ and folded in half. I made the card a little smaller so that my pieces could hang off the side and it will still fit in a standard envelope. I stamped the image from the Flowering Flourishes Stamp Set in Lucky Limeade on the base and also on the bottom half of the tag. The tag is made from Crumb Cake using my Simply Scored and the Diagonal Plate. It gives you perfect angles for the top sides, simply score and cut them off with your Paper Snips. The top half of the tag is stamped in Crumb Cake with the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set. A standard hole punch is used to punch out the hole. I created the flower by punching two pieces of So Saffron with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and then using my Paper Snips to cut in along the scallops. A mini glue dot holds them together and also holds the Brights Basic Button in the center too. The leaves are made with the 1″ Circle Punch from Lucky Limeade. I stamped the greeting from the Essentials Stamp Set in Lucky Limeade on Whisper White. A piece of Lucky Limeade is cut along the bottom edge with the Finishing Touches Edgelits Die. I adhered it to the back of the greeting and flagged the end. I love the simplicity and spring like feel of the card and hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge. Thanks a lot for stopping by. Have a great Saturday!

Fab Friday 15

A very happy Friday to you all! I do love me some Friday! Anything exciting going on this weekend? Will you be spending some time with you families on Easter? I’ll be going over to see my parents for dinner and probably see the child. Easter is so much more fun when you are a kid. Remember Easter egg hunts, Easter baskets and getting dressed up? I miss the Easter baskets the most, I do love some chocolate!

Every other Friday means that it’s time for Fab Friday! You guys had some great entries for our last challenge I can’t wait to see what you do with this one! This time around we have a sketch challenge for you…

Fab Fri 15 3-29-2013

Mt card begins with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White for the background. The main panel is stamped with images from the By the Tide Stamp Set and backed with a piece of Midnight Muse. The background is stamped in Sahara Sand. I stamped the fish in Crumb Cake and used an eyeshadow applicator (bought especially for this purpose, LOL!) to color him in with Midnight Muse. He is fussy cut and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere him to the card. A piece of Sahara Sand that is punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch is adhered along the bottom and the whole panel is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack is flagged on the left. On top of that is a piece of adhesive cork shelf liner. The greeting is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse. For a little sparkly bubbles I adhered some silver sequins that I had stashed away in an old craft bin. This will make quite a cool masculine birthday card for someone in the near future. I love the cork and the sequins, they are a nice way to mix it up! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the Fab Friday Sketch challenge. Click over to the blog to see what my talented fellow designers have come up with and I look forward to seeing your card in the gallery. Have yourselves a fab Friday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches #79

Hello Thursday! So happy to see you again! You are a good day because you are right next to Friday! How are we all doing today? I’m well, I had to do some tech support with my Aunt in England yesterday evening. She was pretty amazed that I was able to walk her through what she had to do to get her internet connection back up. It was a relatively nice day here yesterday, I think we made it to 52 degrees! I must admit that while it was still a little chilly I did have the top down in the card on the way home. I just can’t wait any longer!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. This week we have a sketch from Rita…

Freshly Made Sketches #79

I wanted something a little springy so here’s what I came up with. The base of the card is Pretty in Pink Card Stock. I used the Borders Scoring Plate and my Simply Scored to create the background on a piece of Lucky Limeade. The piece of paper on the left is form the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper Pack, I thought it echoed the chevron background pretty nicely. A piece of Calypso Coral is cut on the bottom edge with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies. Some Early Espresso 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon is adhered around the back with Sticky Strip and another piece is knotted on it. The greeting is from the Friendship Preserves Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies to cut it out. It’s backed with a piece of So Saffron, also cut out with the same Framelits and pierced around the edge with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. A piece of Early Espresso is flagged on either side and adhered in between the to Window Frames. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I kind of like the bold Limeade for a background more that I thought I would. I hope that you like my Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card for this week’s sketch from Rita. Thank you so so much for paying me a visit today. I hope your Thursday is pretty awesome!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 35

So here we are at Wednesday, half way there! Today I was Mr. Fix-It at work. My friend Lisa was having trouble getting her car started. I determined that it was the battery in her smart key and Toyota couldn’t fix it. My friend Anthony’s wheelchair wouldn’t work so I tinkered with that and fixed that. Finally my friend Danielle’s Nexus 7 wouldn’t turn on so I got that to work. I came home and played with MDS for a bit and made a card (wanted to make more but time just gets away!). All in all a good day. How was your day?

Wednesday means it’s Paper Craft Crew time. This week we have a sketch for you to play with…

PCCCS035 3-27-2013 Sketch

I looked at the Parker’s Patterns DSP and the Spec-tacular stamp and decided to go with a retro vibe. The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Woodgrain Background Stamp inked in Crumb Cake for the background. Two strips of Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper fill in the middle. The Spec-tacular Single Stamp is stamped in Cajun Craze on Very Vanilla. I colored in a pair of the glasses with the Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker and backed it with a piece of Not Quite Navy. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The button is a Silver Basics Designer Button. I punched a piece of Not Quite Navy with the 1/2″Circle Punch and a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack and adhered them  to the center of the button. Some Mini Glue Dots hold the button to the  card. The sentiment is form the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set, stamped in Not Quite Navy and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. For a little 60’s vibe I stamped the peace symbols from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy and punched them out with a standard hole punch. Some more Mini Glue Dots hold them in place. I love the Spec-tacular Stamp and the colors and DSP do give it a bit of a retro feel. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Stop by the blog and check out the other designers projects and enter one of yours for me to take a peek at! Thanks for checking in and I hope that you have a nice day! 🙂

Hey there, how are you today? Things are ok here. Would you believe that it snowed again today, just for a little bit, but it snowed! It was overcast and rainy all day. I am so ready for warm weather. Is it just me or does this winter seem exceptionally long? Oh Mother Nature… whatever we did to make you mad I apologize, can we have some warm now… please?!

It’s Tuesday so today I have my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for you. This week’s sketch is provided by Julee Tilman…

Mojo286

Hmm… I think square! LOL! The base of my card is Island Indigo Card Stock and the background is just a plain piece of Sahara Sand. The flag is a piece of paper from the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper Pack (now vintage!). The band across the middle is piece of Sahara Sand that I embossed with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with a piece of Island Indigo. The scallop across the bottom is made by punching some of the stamped images, stamped in Island Indigo, from the A Round Array Stamp Set that is a peek set form the 2013-2014 Catalog! You can order it early, pretty neat huh?! They are adhered to the back of the band with SNAIL and the band to the base with the same. The greeting is also from the A Round Array Stamp Set, stamped in Island Indigo and backed with a piece of Island Indigo that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the edge. The stamped image is then adhered to it with SNAIL and to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I think the A Round Array set is nice and versatile and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us! I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch challenge card. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments! You guys rock!

Pals Paper Arts 155

And here we go again! I know I say it all the time but the weekend goes way too fast! I did have a very nice day yesterday with Kim. We stopped and did some shopping on the way back to Manhattan. I got some more much needed craft storage (M’s had a great sale yesterday!), now I just need to figure out where I’m going to put it! I got a parking space on the street and we had lunch at the diner. They have such great burgers, cooked just right, large portion and very reasonably priced! After lunch we went downtown and I stopped in at the Ink Pad (just to browse!), after that some coffee at Roasting Plant Coffee. I got home in record time and picked up Taylor, she surfed the internet and I crafted. Not a bad weekend at all!

Today I have my Pals Paper Arts card for their sketch challenge…

PPA 155

The base of my card is Primrose Petals Card Stock, I rounded the right corners on all of the pieces with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. For the background, just a plain piece of Very Vanilla. The strips of paper are from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. The main image/greeting is the Hello, Hello Single Stamp and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple and backed with a piece of the same. I think the stamp looks great with some of the flowers from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I punched some out in Summer Starfruit and Primrose Petals and adhered them with Mini Glue Dots. It needed one more thing… ahh… some Basic Jewels Pearls in the center of the flowers, that’s just what it needed! I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Nice, simple but not too simple. I hope that you enjoyed my Pals Paper Arts card for the sketch challenge. I thank you, as always for stopping by and I hope that you have as best Monday you can! 🙂
