Freshly Made Sketches 136

Boy did my allergies kick in today! I don’t usually have allergies until around September but I am stuffed big time. I started the Claritin so in three days I should feel better! The sun was shining until around 1:00 yesterday and then it started to get cloudy. It misted a little last night but today we are supposed to get some showers. It’s Thursday and I plan to take a little trip in to the city tonight and on Saturday, like I said yesterday it’s been too long. That of course will make today and tomorrow go a little slower as is always the case when you have something to look forward to. I stopped by my friend Sandy’s last night and we had a nice little visit. She is so great! I’m lucky in the friends that I have and I know it! 🙂

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Sweet Amy has given us this sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches #136

I took a look at the sketch while I was at work and began to formulate my idea, by the time I got home the card was done! LOL! I used Whisper White for my card base and covered the entire front with a piece of Hello Honey* that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The square in the middle is a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack and is backed with a piece of Sahara Sand. Next up is a strip of Sahara Sand and another strip of the Moonlight DSP with the right side flagged. My greeting is from the Label Something Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss* and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. Honeycomb always needs a beee right, mine is from the Springtime Hello Stamp Set and is stamped in Hello Honey* and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the square, greeting and bee to the card. Blackberry Bliss* and Hello Honey* look pretty good together don’t you think?! And I have already professed my love for the Moonlight DSP! A simple card but the little bee adds so much! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Amy. I had fun making the card and I thank you for coming by to see it. Have a terrific Thursday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 135

That was a very good Friday! I got to go on my 50+ mile field trip and enjoyed it thoroughly even though it was gloomy. I got a lot accomplished at the office too, a very productive day. Anthony, Bill and I went to Friday’s for dinner and we waited to sit with our favorite waitress Meg. Since it’s Mother’s Day weekend they had a special, 1/2 price bottles of wine so we thought why not! We had the Cupcake Pinot Noir, delicious! After dinner we ran to Target because Anthony needed some stuff. I picked up some Watermelon Oreos and Birthday Cake M&M’s. We tried the M&M’s and they are quite yummy! I’ll let you know about the Watermelon Oreos! How was your Friday? I hope that it was just as good as mine! I also have an extra card for you today so be sure to scroll down after you see today’s post!

The post that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch this week is brought to us by the talented Narelle…

Freshly Made Sketches #135

A neat layout that would work for any kind of card. I decided that I would do a masculine birthday card. You can never have too many cards on hand ready to go right?! I also wanted to combine a new favorite with some old ones. My card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock and the background is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My panel is a piece of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper that is backed with some Island Indigo and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. That great suitcase is from the Traveler Stamp Set* and is stamped in Early Espresso, I cut it out with my Paper Snips and adhered the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. My greeting comes from the Four You Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. Tucked under it are three flags that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. The detail in the stamps from the Traveler Set is quite amazing as you can see in the closeup picture and I will miss Summer Starfruit and the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper. But there will be plenty of new stuff to play with and I will get to make new favorites! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I’m always happy to share some of my day with you! Make sure that you do something fun and have a great Saturday! 🙂

Double Header – Freshly Made Sketches 134 & Pals Paper Arts 202

Today was a very nice day! It was sunny and in the high 60’s and the best part was that I was out of the office for a good part of the day! I had to stop at WalMart on the way to work and pick up a TV stand. When I got to work I assembled it and did some other things before I headed to the Airport. I took one of the vans, the TV and stand didn’t fit in my car! I got to MacArthur around 11:45 and installed the TV in the exhibit space. One small problem was that there was no extension cord but the woman that I spoke to assured me that they would take card of that. I stopped home on the way back to get my boss a few cards that she needed. I got back to the office around 2:30 and then had to run out again to pick up some flowers. I got in my car and put the top down and had a nice ride! After work I had some dinner and came home and unpacked my pre-order, mounted my stamps and made a few projects. Like I said a very nice day!

Today I have a double post for you! Tomorrow I’m starting a new adventure with a few talented stampers, most of whom I’m sure you are familiar with. I wanted to get my Freshly Made Sketches and Pals Paper Arts cards posted before that so those are the two projects I have for you today. As a bonus they both use goodies from my pre-order! Let’s get to them, shall we?!

Up first is my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches and this week’s sketch is courtesy of the lovely Karren…

Freshly Made Sketches #134

The card base is Night of Navy Card Stock. My background consists of two pieces of paper from the Maritime Designer Series Paper Pack. All of the stamped images except for the greeting are from the Sea Street Stamp Set. The octopus is stamped in Coastal Cabana on Whisper White and backed with some Real Red that I cut out with the Circle Collection Framelits. The strip of flags is stamped in Night of Navy and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The two starfish are stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with my Paper Snips and also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Something to Say Stamp Set and is stamped in Night of Navy and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. To finish off the card I added some Brights Candy Dots to the banner of flags. A nice bright fun card with neat Designer Series Paper and a whimsical stamp set don’t you think?!

FMS 134-WM

Next up is my project for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 202

I always do a card but since I had some new stuff to play with I thought I would do a 3D project instead. The box is created with the Hamburger Box Bigz XL Die cut from a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock. A quick run through the Big Shot and some folding and Sticky Strip and you have a neat little box! I used some Multi-Purpose Adhesive to attach the Tea Lace Paper Doily to the top. The onesie, socks and duck are from the Something for Baby Stamp Set, stamped in Bermuda Bay and Real Red, and cut out with the Baby’s First Framelits. My greeting is from the Baby We’ve Grown Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Starburst Framelits. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A fun and easy favor for a baby shower or a neat way to give a gift card to a new arrival! I wasn’t sure about the Hamburger Box but I’m really glad that I got it now!

And there are my projects for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches and Pals Paper Arts. I had a lot of fun playing with my new stuff and I hope that you enjoyed both the card and the box! I thank you, as always for coming by and I hope you all have a great Saturday! Don’t forget to come back tomorrow and see what new adventures await! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 133

Did I get out of work early yesterday you might ask… why no, I did not. I made a few attempts but with no avail. Sigh… I really did try too! Oh well, I made the most of my Friday night by coming home and starting some of the 12 projects that I need to get finished this weekend. I watched a little TV for a bit, had some dinner and puttered around. Not an overly exciting Friday night but they don’t all have to be now do they?! Andrew did stop by late last night, a visit from a friend is always good. Tomorrow will be more work on the projects and then who knows. Sunday morning I will be heading into Manhattan for a bit. Looks to be a busy but fun weekend and those are always the best kind wouldn’t you say?!

My post for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and it comes to us from Cindy L….

Freshly Made Sketches #133

I really like the sketch, simple but with just enough to add some interest wouldn’t you say? My card starts off with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock. The half circle and flagged strip are both pieces of paper from the High Tide Designer Series Paper Pack. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out my circle and flagged the end of my strip with my Paper Snips. The center panel starts off with a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with an image from the By the Tide Stamp Set in Calypso Coral. It’s an image of coral so I thought the color was fitting! LOL! I backed it with some Calypso Coral and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My fish is from the same set and is heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Smoky Slate. The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold both of them to the panel. Clean, simple and even though there is some coral I still think it would make a great masculine birthday card, don’t you? I thank you for coming by to see my Freshly Made Sketches challenge card. I always love my time with you and I hope that your weekend is off to a great start! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 132

Happy Thursday to you! Only one day away from my favorite day of the week! Today was a busy day at work, but a good one, I actually got some things accomplished which is always good. I left work a little early today and met Andrew to take the train into Manhattan. On our walk up I passed the Giant Needle and Button in the Garment District and it reminded me of my friend LeAnne so I took a picture of it.

Giant Needle and Button

We met up with my friend Kim for some dinner, we went to Zuni. The burgers were pretty good, however, I would stay away from the garlic mashed potatoes. LOL! Afterwards we headed over to Times Square and Andrew and Satellite Lane performed some songs in front of Military Island. The reason they were in the city was to sing for a wedding proposal. After some impromptu singing, the couple showed up and at 8:45 a picture came on the SONY Jumbo-Tron in Times Square where the man asked for his girlfriend’s hand in marriage. Satellite Lane gathered around and performed “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. A large crowd gathered and all cheered for the happy, newly engaged couple! I have to say, it was quite an experience to watch it happen in person. Below you can see a clip of them performing one of the songs they did before the proposal, Andy Grammer’s “Keep Your Head Up”.

Satellite Lane Times Square 4-2014

Yes, it was a little chilly last night but it pretty cool, huh?! If you’d like to keep up with all of Satellite Lane’s happenings, you can visit their website HERE.

I got home a little late last night as you can imagine, but decided to do my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches #132

It was a great sketch because it was perfect for a quick card. The card base is Pool Party Card Stock and the background is a piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. I rounded the corners on the top of the background and card with the 1″ Circle Punch. My image and greeting are both from the Peachy Keen Stamp Set. The heart is stamped in Pool Party and cut out with my Paper Snips. For the greeting I heat embossed the “Hello Friend” on a piece of Pool Party in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Both elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Like I said, a nice simple card! Since Pool Party is a light color, the card almost has a monochromatic look to it, but because of the stripes, the heart and sentiment really jump off the face of the card. Let me know what you think of my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thanks very much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed the video as well and that you have a very good Thursday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 131

The weather here yesterday was the best we have had in months! It was in the high 60’s and yes, I got to drive home from work with the top down and the music up nice and loud! Not the best day at work, it’s always busy but sometimes things can make it busier. The copier has broken so many times the technician had to stay and keep fixing it every 15 minutes yesterday. Time for a new one I think. After work I went over to Heather’s and we ran to Target and then went back and hung out at her house. We had some wine and cheese and listened to music. We danced around like fools and laughed. A great way to end a Friday! I like to tell you when I find fun things as you know and I downloaded this fun new App called PopAGraph a little while ago and finally played with it last night. You can take elements and make them color and do all kinds of neat things to the picture. In honor of Andrew and Satellite Lane being at BOSS this weekend I did this one…

Andrew SL PictGraph

Pretty neat huh?! I did another one of 34th Street and highlighted a taxi. If you follow me on Instagram you can see it there!

Now on to today’s post which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week Cindy H. has given us this fun one…

Freshly Made Sketches #131

I made two cards for this. The first one I made I didn’t like at all the next day so I made the one that I’m posting today. The base of the card is Smoky Slate Card Stock and the background and the strip across the bottom are pieces of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper. I heat embossed the flower image and greeting from the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Wisteria Wonder. The flowers are colored in with the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker. I added some Melon Mambo and colored the stems in with my Gumball Green Stampin’ Write Markers. I have had the Chalk Marker for a while but this is the first time I’ve used it. I love the nice soft look it gives when used to color in the flowers and that Watercolor Wonder DSP is just so neat! Thanks for taking some time out of your day to come and see what I’ve been up to. I hope that you enjoyed my card for his week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Have a simply wonderful Saturday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 130

Yes people… it’s FRIDAY!! I did get to leave work early yesterday, at 3:00, and I was home and napping by 3:15! I woke up around 4:30 and went to my parents to get Winston and came back home and dropped him off because I had to go and pick my friend Chantal up from the train station. We went to Friday’s for dinner and then came back to my house and caught up. I haven’t seen her in a few months and that’s way too long! We had a very nice evening and have promised to have dinner once a month from now on. I have no plans tonight so maybe it will be a movie night! What are you doing to get your weekend started?!

My post for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Linda…

Freshly Made Sketches #130

I got my inspiration from my comforter, I look at it all the time and for some reason I just had to make a card using the colors in it…

FMS 130 Insp

My card is very simple and has a sort of ombre look to it. The base is a piece of Island Indigo Card Stock and the background, a piece of Whisper White. I backed another piece of Whisper White with some Bermuda Bay to create the frame for my sentiments. They are from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set and are stamped in Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana, I cut them out with my Paper Snips and adhered them with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. Before I adhered the panel to the card I put a piece of Retro Fresh This & That Designer Washi Tape down. The ampersand is from the same set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with my Paper Snips and also mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Like I said a very simple card that pulls all of it’s colors from the comforter! Let me know atht you thought of today’s card by leaving me a comment! Thanks very much for coming by to see what I’m up to and have an awesome Friday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 129

Yesterday was a nice quiet day all around. Work was low key, a very nice change to the usual! I got home and relaxed for a bit and worked on some projects. I even watched some TV! Today will be more of the same, it’s supposed to rain so it will be a good day to be crafty!

My post for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and this week Jen M. has this for us…

Freshly Made Sketches #129

I had the urge to use my Aquapainter which I haven’t done in a really long time. My card base is So Saffron Card Stock. I used a piece of Watercolor Paper and heat embossed the flowers from the Sumer Silhouettes Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My Aquapainter and some Bermuda Bay Re-Inker is used to color the paper making the flowers really stand out. Across the middle is a piece of Whisper White with another stamp from the Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set stamped in Bermuda Bay and backed with a piece of Bermuda Bay. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. My greeting is from the Hip Notes Stamp Set and is stapes in Bermuda Bay on one of the Essentials Wooden Elements. I really like the way the watercoloring came out, I have to do that more often! Thank you so much for checking in with me today! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches and that you all have a great Saturday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 128

A very happy Friday to you! It is extra happy for me because I’m off from work today. I needed a mental health day! I also have a lot of things that I need to get done and the best time for me to do that is when everyone thinks I’m someplace else! LOL! Yesterday was pleasant but windy and today is supposed to be nice. I plan to get lots of things done today, wish me luck! Tonight I’ll be out to dinner with Heather which is always a good time! What’s going on by you for this evening?

My card today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. I want to thank the talented Amy for picking me as her Perfect Prince for last week’s challenge! You can see my original post HERE and the Freshly Made Sketches winners post HERE. This week we have a super simple sketch from clever Rita…

Freshly Made Sketches #128

I looked at it and put the card together in my head! Love that! My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. Another piece of Basic Black serves as the base for me to adhere some Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum and Modern Medley Designer Series Paper to. A piece of Brushed Silver Metallic goes across the middle. I used some more of the Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum and my Envelope Punch Board to crate the bow. Some more Brushed Silver Metallic holds it together and a Mini Glue Dot adheres it to the band. My greeting is from the Label Card Thinlits Dies and is cut out from a piece of Silver Foil Sheet and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Not an overly complicated card but I love the softness that the vellum provides, especially to the bow. The two different finishes on the silver give it just a little sparkle and shine. I also didn’t realize until I was finished that there is no stamping on the card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thank you so much for coming by to see what I’ve been up to and have a wonderful Friday, I know I will! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 127

Well that was a very nice Friday! Work was quiet and the day went quick. Dinner was very tasty. I had the Blue Cheese Stacked Burger and endless Sweet Potato fries (4 servings to be exact!) and we even had some Brownie Obsession for dessert, you have to mix it up sometimes! Today will be a get some stuff done sort of day. I’m going to watch the wee ones for a bit this morning and then a haircut (finally!) at 1:45. After that who knows!

My card for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Resident artist Jen T. has given us this great sketch to work with…

Freshly Made Sketches #127

I needed a collage card and for some reason when I looked at the sketch I saw tickets! My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and some Night of Navy and Encore Gold Metallic Ink to randomly stamp one of the images a few times. My tickets are a piece of Crumb Cake that I sponged with Night of Navy and and some paper from the Etcetera Designer Series Paper Pack, the corners are punched with the Ticket Corner Punch and they are adhered at angle to each other and to the card base. There is also a small piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape on the right. The greeting is stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla that I sponged with some Pool Party. The stamped images are from the Countless Sayings 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Night of Navy. My ampersand is a piece of adhesive cork sheet that I cut out with the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies. The heart was in the scrap pile and just wanted to put on there! A piece of crumb cake is stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp in Crumb Cake and the Small Heart Punch and 1″ Circle Punch punch it out. A piece of Gold Foil Sheet is cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and the heart/circle and butterfly are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few random sequins complete the card. Collage style is definitely my favorite and you can keep it pretty clean for a collage. I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jen T. Thanks a lot for visiting and enjoy your Saturday! 🙂
