Freshly Made Sketches 126

Yup, once again it’s Thursday, the time really does seem to fly sometimes. But the good thing about Thursday is that tomorrow is Friday! Today wasn’t as cold as yesterday but it was still chilly. You could spend a few minutes outside without losing feeling in your fingers! LOL! Work was productive and I went over to have dinner with Kim and Heather. It was Taco night, lots of salt but well worth it! We talked and laughed (that’s the best thing to do!), after I came home and made my card for today’s post. All in all a pretty good day!

My card base today is Soft Sky Card Stock. The first piece of the background is Pacific Point and on top of that is a piece of High Tide Designer Series Paper. Across the lower half of the card is another piece of Pacific Point with some Silver Foil Sheet that was cut out with the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die. My greeting is from the Hello, Sailor Stamp Set and is stamped in Pacific Point, cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits and backed with another piece of Silver Foil Sheet cut out with the Starburst Framelits. Even though it’s a relatively simple card I think the Silver Foil Sheet gives it the little extra oomph that it needs! Freshly Made Sketches 125

I will start off by saying that it is freezing cold here! Now that I got that out of the way! I had a nice Friday, work was quite calm which is always good for a Friday. I went out to dinner with Bill and Anthony to Friday’s and had some Tennessee Whiskey Cake… YUM! Andrew stopped by for a bit after dinner and this morning I’m off to Manhattan. Hopefully I won’t freeze fast to the sidewalk! LOL! To be honest, I don’t even mind the cold that much when I’m walking around in the city. I will make sure and take some pictures for you tomorrow too. 🙂

Now on to the post. Today’s card is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Our sketch this week is provided by the talented Narrelle…

While this week’s sketch is really simple, I enjoy it a lot because it allows for so many different interpretations. The base of the card is Basic Black Card Stock and for my background I used a piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. My greeting comes from the Yippee-Skippee! Stamp Set, is stamped in Basic Black and is adhered to a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that was cut out with the On Film Framelits Dies. The three gold stars and the chevrons are all cut out from more Gold Foil Sheet from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies. The elements are all adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the way this card turned out because it reminds me of movie clapboard. Action! LOL! My card is just one of the many that could have been made based on this sketch. Sometimes a simple sketch is a great place to start because the possibilities are endless. Freshly Made Sketches 124

Yeah! It’s Friday!! Work was insanely busy yesterday and that more than made up for Tuesday! LOL! It was actually a very nice day here yesterday. We got up to 50 degrees!! Woo hoo! It rained last night and is supposed to rain some more today but I’ll take the rain over snow! I had a nice quiet evening at home last night. I crafted for a bit and then watch Elysium. Pretty good movie. What’s on for the weekend?!

Fun and simple so I kept my card the same! My card base is a piece of Pool Party Card Stock and the background some So Saffron. I stamped the Filmstrip Stamp in Basic Gray for my three panels and a strip of Calypso Coral goes across the lower half. Some Silver Foil Sheet is cut out with the On Film Framelits Dies and is adhered with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit and is stamped in Basic Gray right on the So Saffron panel. Like I said a very simple but fun card. We need those every once in a while, right?! Freshly Made Sketches 123

So, everyone, how was your Valentine’s Day? Mine was pretty good. Andrew and I managed to eat an entire pizza pie and then we spoke to my friend Carolyn over in Australia through Google Hangouts. It’s kind of neat that you can sit face to face and talk with someone who is 15 hours ahead of you in time. She lives approximately 10,500 miles away from us. Isn’t that crazy to think about?!

The inspiration for today’s post comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This week’s sketch comes from Jen B…

My card today is nice and simple. The base of the card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock and on top of that is a piece of Basic Black that I cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die. I cut another piece of So Saffron out with the same die and used eight of the honeycombs to stamp bees from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set in Basic Black. Three of the bees are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the other ones are placed within their cutouts. My greeting is from the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set, stamped in Basic Black and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. A piece of Linen Thread tied in a bow at the top completes the card. Like I said, nice and simple but fun. As you know, the Hexagon Hive Die is one of my favorites, and I thought it worked really well for this sketch! I also like the subtle difference between the So Saffron and Daffodil Delight, I think it makes the bees stand out a little bit more. And there is my Freshly Made Sketches sketches card for this week’s challenge. I hope you enjoy your Saturday and thanks so much for stopping by!

Freshly Made Sketches 122

Wow! Thursday already! Pretty good speed for this week. The weather you ask… it snowed in the morning and then rained yesterday making the snow nice and heavy and the roads a slushy mess. Last night it went down to 19 degrees so it all froze. Winter is just not very nice this year! I came home last night and crafted for a bit, picked up Andrew from a cappella practice and dropped him at home. He is not feeling well again and has a concert on Friday. Hopefully his cough will be under control by then. It’s miserable being sick as you know but when you sing it’s worse. How is everything in your neck of the woods?

My inspiration for today’s post comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The sketch this week is provided by Cindy…

I had some fun using a bunch of different elements for this card. The base is Soft Suede Card Stock and the background is a piece of Bermuda Bay That I rounded the top corners of. The strip of paper across the lower half is from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. My heart is a piece of Real Red that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch on a piece of Whisper White and one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies on the bottom to cut out the “xoxo”. My greeting is from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. Three little banners from the Love You More Stamp Set, stamped in Bermuda Bay and punched out with the Banner Punch go across the top of the tag and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love the negative “xoxo”, it looks neat with the Designer Series Paper showing through and I really can’t get enough of the red and blue together! Freshly Made Sketches 121

Well, that was a very relaxing Saturday and after my fun week at work I needed it! I spent some time in the morning at the craft desk and got a few projects done. I went out for a bit and ran some errands, I even watched a movie! It definitely was a much needed relaxing day! This morning I’m off to Manhattan for a bit and then later on I’m going over to Brian & Kim’s for a Superbowl party. Will you be attending any parties later on? I won’t lie, I’m in for the commercials and food! LOL!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch this week is provided by Linda…

A super clean sketch, I was a little stumped when I first saw it but I let it sit in my brain for a bit and this is what I came up with. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper. The larger hexagon is also This & That and is cut out with my Paper Snips. I used the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set and some Daffodil Delight to stamp the image on top of the large hexagon and the Hexagon Punch to punch it out. My greeting is from the Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit and is stamped in Calypso Coral and cut out with the Squares Collection Framelits. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the greeting and the hexagon to the card. A sprinkling of grey iridescent sequins finishes off the card. I really am glad that I went digging around in my craft supplies, I had completely forgotten about the Epic Day Designer Series Paper! Freshly Made Sketches 120

It’s my favorite day as you well know! It’s FRIDAY! Wee! The past two weeks have not been full work weeks but them seem longer for some reason. I hope that the weekend goes just as slowly! I have a party to go to tomorrow night and it’s supposed to snow again. I’m sure that you are sick of hearing about my hatred of snow, but I really do not like it! LOL! Sunday I think will be a relaxing day, maybe even a movie! What’s on for the weekend for you?!

The card that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and Rita has given us this…

I had a few different versions of my card before I actually decided to glue it all together! My card base is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The piece that I used is quite different from the rest of the prints, love that! I created my banner by using two sizes from the Banners Framelits Dies to cut out some Basic Black and adhered it to the background with 2-Way Glue. My greeting is from the You’re Lovely Stamp Set** from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog, just four more days until you can get some goodies for yourself! I used Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder to heat emboss the image on Basic Black. The Deco Labels Framelits Dies are used to cut it out and also for the piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I backed it with. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere both to each other and the card. I’m liking the black embossed with the gold and the DSP is a really neat pattern! Freshly Made Sketches 119

Guess what?! It’s FRIDAY!! My favorite day of the week!! I only had a four day week but it felt like much more! Yesterday was productive which is always a good thing. We are supposed to get snow tonight into Saturday morning. I’ll be off to Manhattan and I usually drive in but if there is snow maybe not. I think I may call my friend Kim and see what she’s up to, maybe I’ll stay by her Friday night! It’s always nice to have options! 🙂

Today my post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This time around we have a fun sketch from Cindy L….

I’m loving the Sale-A-Bration Catalog this year, so much that I find myself wishing that it was in the Occasions Catalog instead! My card today starts with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set for my greeting, stamped in Basic Black right on the base. The angled background paper is from the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper Pack**. For the flagged strip across the top half and the flowers I used the Petal Parade Stamp Set**. The strip is stamped in Pistachio Pudding with my Stamp-a-ma-jig and the flowers in Crisp Cantaloupe and Summer Starfruit. I punched the flowers out with the 1 1/4″ and 1 3/4″ Circle Punches and adhered all of the pieces to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love the colors in the Designer Series Paper and the stamp set has so many fun elements in it! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. Freshly Made Sketches 117 & Sneak Peek

I was up at 4:15 yesterday morning and to work by 6:50, it was the last forum and I was glad to see them finished! The rest of work was quiet and I managed to sneak out at 2:00! I came home a crafted for a bit and then went to my parents for dinner. My brother and his wife came with my little Nephew Daniel. He is so cute!! I finally got to hold him for a bit and he was nice and quiet for me. Babies like me for some reason, maybe I have a soothing voice?!?! LOL! I absolutely loved the card that she made, and all of the other ones are awesome too! You know I have a thing for vellum so I used some of the fun new Designer Vellum from the 2014 Occasions Catalog! The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. My banners are cut from some Brushed Gold Card Stock, Champagne Glimmer Paper, Gold Foil Sheet and Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum*. I used some of the Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape* over a piece of Whisper White and some Stampin’ Dimensionals across the top of the flags. My greeting is from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some really tiny Stampin’ Dimensional pieces adhere that to the card. Not and overly complicated card but I love the gold and vellum with the Midnight Muse! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Freshly Made Sketches 116 & Sneak Peeks

Today was the start of the deep freeze that we are headed into, yeah! NOT! It was very cold here today and it was a balmy 36 degrees. I say balmy because tomorrow night it’s supposed to 18! Brrr!! I had a busy but good day at work, there always is a lot to get done but I have a good bunch of people in my department so it’s all good. I got to test drive my presentation for Leadership last night and now will polish it and get it finished, less than a month to go! Time really does fly!

My inspiration for today’s post comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I do love some banners and I got a new goodie from the man in brown yesterday too so I had to use it! The base of today’s card is Coastal Cabana Card Stock. My background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. The flags and hearts are from the Language of Love Stamp Set* and are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Blushing Bride. I used the Banners Framelits Dies* to cut out the banners and the hearts are punched out with the Small Heart Punch. My greeting is from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set* and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and backed with some Blushing Bride. The Blushing Bride hearts are adhered to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the panel to the card with some more. I love the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, it looks cool either side that you use and the colors are nice and soft but fun. Are you enjoying your sneak peeks?!
