Mojo 376

Yesterday was a good day at work! Wanna know why? I got to go on a field trip to the Apple Store! My boss’ keyboard stopped working so I went to go and swap it out for a new one. I brought the computer with me so they could run some diagnostics and make sure that it wasn’t anything hardware related. The guy that helped me was really nice, as they always are. I do love a field trip, makes the day go faster! I came home and got to see little Daniel and his devilish smile! He’s so funny, he likes loud noises which most kids don’t like. He was walking around banging a plastic spoon on everything that he could and slamming the kitchen cabinet doors shut. When I came home I retreated to the Stampin’ Galley and had a nice Skype session with my friend Eva. Before I knew it it was 10:45! Yikes! So much for getting to bed early! And no, still no Christmas cards got made but I did start on a few! Progress!

The card that I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Hmm… do you see what I see? A little window, wonder what we are going to with that?! LOL! My card begins with a base of Kraft Card Stock. The background is a piece of Cherry Cobbler on the lower half and some Whisper White on the top. Before I adhered the background to the card I used some Sticky Strip to adhere some Gold Sequin Trim across the lower half. My shaker window is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I heat embossed the sentiment from the Mingle All the Way Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To create the window I used the Squares Collection and Circles Collection Framelits. Some of the Frosted Sequins and some gold ones are placed inside the window and a single layer of Foam Tape keeps them all contained. The snowflake is actually a Simon Says Stamp die called Melody and is cut out from some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper and adhered with some Multi-Purpose Glue. I really do love a shaker card don’t I?! They are just a little more fun than a traditional card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. SUO Challenges 112

My day yesterday was pretty quiet until the evening. I got a lot accomplished at work which is always good. Had some dinner, came home and sat down to make a few cards. Around 8:00 I got a call from Brian asking if could some over and stay at the house with Izzy because Savannah fell down the stairs. Off I went! Thankfully she was ok other than a nice lump on her head. That has to be a little frightening to be that little and go down an entire flight of stairs. Those little ones are tough though aren’t they? I think that maybe I should get her together with Daniel! They both see to be a bit accident prone! Today is also two of favorite people’s birthdays! Happy birthday to Kim, one of the sweetest people that I know and to my friend Brian King, another amazing person! I hope that you both have a wonderful day!

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!:

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Merry & Happy challenge. I decided on some very non-traditional but very happy colors for my card! The base of today’s card is Soft Sky Card Stock and the background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss that I embossed with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two banners are Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon, I used the Banners Framelits to cut them out. I stamped the happy from the Endless Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Blackberry Bliss. Then the Lost Lagoon banner is tucked behind the Soft Sky one and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My two tress are cut out with one of the elements from the Snowflake Card Thinlit from Mossy Meadow. I used a Versa-Marker to dot them and heat embossed them with some Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The HOLIDAYS is from the Watercolor Winter Too Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with my Paper Snips. I adhered the trees and the greeting to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A simple fun and bright Holiday card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Merry & Happy challenge from SUO Challenges. Stacked Sweet Ampersand Love

I had a very low key day yesterday. I had good intentions once again to get some stuff done, like decorate the tree. Unfortunately I failed to remember where I put the decorations when I moved so I decided to make it a crafty day and I got a bunch of cards made instead. Were they Christmas cards you might inquire? Of course not! They were thank you and birthday cards that I have needed to make. I’ll get around to the Christmas cards, hopefully! It was definitely a relaxing day so not bad for a Sunday! I hope that you had a nice day too!

So, occasionally my brain does weird things, for example today I have a valentine card. Why is that odd? Well it’s Christmas but when I looked at the date yesterday and saw it was the 14th it triggered Valentine’s Day! Like I said… weird! LOL! The card is packed full of new goodies so that makes up for it! The base of the card is Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock. The background is a piece of Real Red. I used an element from the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlit* to cut out the hearts along the bottom of the panel. I then used the Ampersand Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and traced around it with a Copic Multi-liner Marker. My greeting is from the You Plus Me Stamp Set* and is heat embossed on Vellum in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits. Some very carefully placed 2-Way Glue adheres it to the card. The teeny bow on top is made with the Bow Builder Punch and a piece f paper from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack*. I used Sticky Strip to put the bow together and a Glue Dot to adhere it to the card. Like I said packed with new goodies! I hope that you enjoyed the sneak peek and early Valentine’s card! Ornate Bright Moonlight Christmas

Yesterday was a fun day. I tinkered in the Stampin’ Galley in the morning for a bit and then Andrew came over and we started working on getting his computer back in order. We installed a new hard drive and then began copying the backup over to it. While we were waiting we watched a bunch of videos on YouTube and Vevo. I came across Last Christmas by Wham!, I haven’t seen that video in years! Andrew ordered some pizza around 5:30 and we had dinner. He had to run to his dad’s to help out with his grandmother so I took a ride to see my friend Renee at her new scrapbook store Scrap-A-Latte in West Babylon. It’s coming along nicely! I met Andrew back at my house and we finished up the computer. He got most of his stuff back but we will make sure that he has a better backup plan in place so if this happens again he won’t loose anything! How was your Saturday?

Today I have a Christmas card that uses a new stamp from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. I started the card off with a base of Soft Suede Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. My tag is a piece of Smoky Slate that I created using the new Ornate Tag Topper Punch* from the 2015 Occasions Catalog. The tree is from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede and my greeting is from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. The cute little house is from the You Made My Day Stamp Set** and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Sahara Sand and colored in with Prismacolor Pencils. I used gamsol and a paper stump to blend the pencils out for a nice smooth look. Some Wink of Stella is brushed on the roof of the house and the tips of tree branches for a little sparkle. The house is punched out with the What’s Up Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I tied a piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon through the top and adhered the tag to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few Sparkling Clear 4mm sequins are adhered with Crystal Effects and complete the card. I love when I can pull together some non-holiday items and make a Christmas card! I also love the way the colored pencils are nice and vibrant on the Sahara Sand! I hope that you enjoyed my very non-traditional Christmas card for today! Mojo Monday 375

Mondays still aren’t my favorite day of the week. And to make it a true Monday, it was absolutely freezing here yesterday. As an added bonus, we’re supposed to have a Noreaster today with high winds and heavy rain. That will make for a fun commute to work this morning. Heather told me that my headlight was out on Thursday and I finally remembered to change it last night, in the freezing cold. Sometimes I am not the smartest person in the world, but I guess it was better than waiting for today’s rain. Luckily, Andrew came by and got to stand outside and freeze with me. The rest of the evening was pretty uneventful. How was your Monday?

Before we get to today’s post here are the Weekly Deals from Stampin’ Up!

My little bit of craftiness last night yielded today’s card which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

The only thing that I knew when I started the card was I that I wanted to use the circular wooden frame. Today’s card base is Crumb Cake Card Stock and for my panel on the left I embossed a piece of Soft Suede with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the little scene I used the White Christmas Photopolymer Stamp Set. The trees are stamped in Soft Suede and the bird and snowman in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the snowman’s scarf and hat as well as the bird. The panel is a piece of Cherry Cobbler with the greeting from the “Vintage” Contempo Christmas Stamp Set heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the hole in the Cherry Cobbler and also a piece of Gold Foil Sheet which I backed it with. The panel is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now, for the circular wooden frame which is from the Dear Heart Photopolymer Stamp Set. It is stamped in Soft Suede on Crumb Cake and after a little fiddling I figured out that you can punch it out with the 2″ Circle Punch and then use one of the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the middle! I really do like the way the little scene is framed. See what I did there? LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Paper Players 225

And it’s Monday again. I had a nice relaxing weekend, something I don’t usually do. I still managed to get some stuff done, not as much as I wanted to but it happens! Yesterday was semi-productive. I got the tree out up and now I need to find the decorations. I ran to BJ’s last night with Heather and then we went over to see Brian & Kim. Andrew stopped by too. Not a bad way to end the day! I can’t believe how fast Christmas is approaching. I need to get my cards out this week. Have you started or finished your cards yet?

Monday and it’s time for another Paper Players challenge. This week we have a theme challenge from Nance…

Hmm… a fancy holiday project to me means lots of glitz! I began today’s card with a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. My background is a piece of Basic Black that I heat embossed (I know, shocking!) the tree from the “Vintage” Christmas Lodge Stamp Set in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My frame is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper that I cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies along with a piece of Window Sheet. Before I adhered the Window Sheet to the frame I heat embossed the greeting from the “Vintage” Greetings of the Season Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and put it in between the frame and Window Sheet. Some sequins are sprinkled on the black and I doubled up on the foam tape so they would be able to move around nicely. I like the way that the vellum obscures the sequins so it’s a little bit of a surprise when you shake the card and they all come up! Pals Paper Arts 230

Yesterday was a rainy day, and yes, I stayed in bed way too late! I did go over to Heather’s for a late breakfast that was quite yummy! Scrambled eggs, bacon and an english muffin. We ran to Target to pick up some necessities and I found two new props for my pictures! After I came home and hid in the Stampin’ Galley for most of the rest of the day. It was a good day to craft. I squeezed in some TV, I watched the Grammy Christmas special from the other day. Sam sang Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, you can buy the song on iTunes, I of course think it’s the best version of the song I have ever heard! LOL! I may be a bit partial though! Go and give a listen and let me know what you think! This morning another late morning, I guess that we do need them every once in a while, but I should be good now! 🙂

One of the cards that I made yesterday is for this week’ Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

I wanted a simple Christmas card but not overly Christmas. The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. To create my tag I punched a piece of Vellum Card Stock with the Scallop Tag Topper punch and used the Project Life Corner Rounder on the bottom corners. My feathers are from the Four Feathers Stamp Set and are heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with the Feathers Framelits. I adhered them to the tag with SNAIL. The greeting is form the Endless Wished Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I threaded some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through a Gold Basic Metal Button and adhered it on top of the bottom of the feathers with Glue Dots. Some more baker’s twine is threaded through the top of the tag and the tag is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. I used some Crystal Effects to adhere the baker’s twine to the background. It has the Christmas feel without any traditional elements. I hope that you like my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Freshly Made Sketches 165

I’m a little late this morning! I had the birthday party last night and I got home a little later than I expected so I decided that I would get up early this morning and make my card. Well, the bed was just a little too comfy again and I didn’t get up as early as I wanted to. Plus, it’s rainy here this morning, in fact it rained from about 5:30 last night. I also wanted to catch up on comments, time just gets away from us sometimes! The party was lots of fun and I finally got to meet Danielle’s boyfriend and he’s a very nice guy. All in all a good Friday spent with fun people!

Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I really liked the negative die cut tree that I did in the banner a little while ago and wanted to do another one. I thought that it might look neat cut out from a heart so that’s what I did. My card base for today is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Pool Party. I heat embossed some snowflakes from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then adhered the background to the card with SNAIL. I cut out two hearts using the Hearts Collection Framelits, one from Pear Pizzaz and one from Cherry Cobbler. The tree cut out is made using the tree from the Snowflake Card Thinlits. I stamped the decorations from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed them with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. More of the snowflakes are heat embossed on the Cherry Cobbler heart and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it over the Pear Pizzaz one. The greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on pear Pizzaz and the banner is cut out using one of the dies from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. To finish off the card I threaded some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through a Regals Designer Series Button and adhered it with a Glue Dot. I really am enjoying the negative die cuts, they give the card nice depth and it’s a fun change! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. It was a rainy day here yesterday all day. We had a movie screening at work for Kings Park, a documentary on the mental institution done by filmmaker Lucy Winer. It was quite interesting and she was a very nice person. You can find out a little bit more about the film HERE. I left work a little early to go and meet up with my friend Sandy so we could drive to Trenton, NJ for the Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Catalog Reveal. We stopped at a Hobby Lobby on the way, Sandy had never been to one, and we had some SmashBurger for dinner, YUM! The new Catalogs have some really great things in them that you are going to love! I’ll be doing a pre-order on Friday and will hopefully have some new stuff to show you next week! We did get a new Stamp Set and I will try and make a sample using that tomorrow! I got to see my friend Bonnie from the Unite and Excite event. I also got to meet my “blog” friend Donna! Here is a little selfie of us…

Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

I decided that I wanted to use some colors that I would never normally use. You will have to indulge me a little today! LOL! The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles Dies to cut out most of the pieces for the card. The background is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that covers the entire card Front. Next up is a piece of Elegant Eggplant on the left and some Crushed Curry on the right. Another piece of Cherry Cobbler adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals is on top of that. My greeting is from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Crushed Curry. A frame of Elegant Eggplant goes around it and more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the Cherry Cobbler panel. A very jewel toned card and not colors that I would normally use, but we all need to step outside of our comfort zones every once in a while right?! SUO Challenges 111

Now that was an early morning yesterday! To be somewhere at 6:00AM is even early for me! The rest of the day was uneventful and I was fine with that. I left work at 3:30 and found out that Sam Smith was on Ellen so I got to watch that. Last night was burgers on the grill with some fries. Yum! It started to rain around 5:30 so I came home and hid in the Stampin’ Galley for a while. I got a few things done and then watched a little TV. This week is a busy week for me. Tomorrow night Andrew and I are going to see the Hunger Games – Mocking Jay Part 1 then on Wednesday I have the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog reveal in NJ with Sandy and on Friday I have a birthday party to go to. Not that it’s not fun stuff, but a busy week!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Tag You’re It challenge. Just use a tag on your project, we know how I love a tag! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut a chunk out of a piece of Garden Green and adhered it over the DSP. My tag is a piece of Sahara Sand and I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to create it. The greeting is from the Mingle All the Way Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I tied a piece of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through the top and used some Crystal Effects to adhere the long ends in place and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhered the tag to the card. A few red sequins finish off the card with a little shine. I’m really loving the negative die cutting and yes, even I can use traditional Christmas colors every once in a while! LOL!
