Wonderful Wisteria Lagoon Wreath and Manhattan!

Well the rain held out all day yesterday and I had a lovely day in Manhattan! I got in around 8:10am and parked on 90th. For my walk over to the West Side through Central Park I popped in my headphones, it makes me walk faster which if you know anyone that has walked with me in the city is way too fast! LOL! I stopped along the Reservoir and snapped a few pictures. You can see how overcast it was but the sun did peek out a few times. You also don’t realize how big the Reservoir is until you walk around it! It looks more like a lake!

Pretty huge huh?! Much to Kim’s dismay I got to her around 8:45 instead of my estimated 10:00! LOL! I’m early for everything and she knows this but still doesn’t appreciate it! We had some coffee and then I realized that I forgot my wallet in my car. I have an aversion to wallets for some unknown reason and I tend to leave it in my backpack or car. I used to leave it at home but Andrew fixed that for me! Kim suggested that we walk back over and have breakfast at the diner that way I could get my wallet, sounded great to me so we did just that! After breakfast we wandered around and passed by this new cupcake shop called Sprinkles. From across the street we noticed that they had a Cupcake ATM!! WHAT!! Needless to say we ran over to it and I had to give it a try! You can see from the pictures my silly excitement at the prospect of a little door opening and revealing a delicious treat!!

It was Red Velvet and it was DELICIOUS! I split it with Kim and she agreed that it was quite tasty! We will be visiting the Cupcake ATM again don’t worry about that! LOL!

Now on to the crafty part of the post. I was running through card ideas in my head on the way home and I thought that Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon might look nice together so I gave it a try! My card base for today is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Lost Lagoon and I heat embossed the sentiment from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My smoky Slate piece is cut on the bottom with the Ovals Collection Framelits for an interesting curve. The wreath is also from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon. I heat embossed the bow with more Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and used the Wonderful Wreath Framelits* to cut them out. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to the card and a few of the Frosted Sequins* are adhered around the wreath with Multi-Purpose Glue. I actually really love the colors together and as many of you know I’m not a red and green holiday type of guy! I also like using the Oval to cut away part of the panel, odd but sort of cool! Paper Craft Crew 106

Hey there readers! It’s Thursday and I’m hoping that my happy Wednesday carries over! LOL! I had a nice day at work yesterday because I got to run errands in the morning! I went to the Apple Store to pick up a MacBook that was dropped off for repairs, then off to Michaels to get some poster frames, I had to stop at the post office to mail out my Control Freaks swaps and see my friend. I’m glad that you enjoyed the Control Freaks Tour yesterday. I always have a lot of fun making my projects and then like I always say the best part is reading your comments! It really does make all of the effort well worth it! I’m going to sneak into the city on Saturday morning to see my friend Kim and pay a little visit to Sam Flax. I am feeling to need to use my Filofax Organiser again! Ahh… the good old days of my trusty paper organizer! I guess my addiction to paper is getting worse! LOL!

I’m a day late with my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch, I was a kind of tired Tuesday night that I haven’t felt before! I guess 8 hours of sleep in three days will do that! LOL! But I have it for you today and here is the sketch…

I played around with some more new Holiday Catalog goodies! You only have one more week to wait to get your new stuff! My card uses a piece of Mossy Meadow Card Stock for the base. The background is a piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. My main panel is stamped with the tree and garland from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set*, the tree is stamped in Mossy Meadow and the garland is heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I backed it with Mossy Meadow. The panel behind it is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The panels are adhered to each other with SNAIL and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Star Framelits to cut out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered that to the bottom right of the panels. My greeting is also from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a strip of Cherry Cobbler. Three enamel dots to the left of the panels completes the card. A simple fun traditional Christmas card with a little sparkle from the star and garland! Freshly Made Sketches 149

How was your Friday? Mine was pretty good, I was out of the office running errands for about three hours yesterday! I also got a lot accomplished when I was there before and after so all in all a pretty good day. I got a new light for the Stampin’ Galley, just a simple fluorescent stick but it gives me enough light and doesn’t get in the way. I’m plotting my organization for this weekend too. I need to get all of the current goodies in the place where all of the Vintage goodies are now. I would also like to unpack the last few boxes that I have. There are a good amount of cards that I need to make and actually send out this weekend! The sending part is key right?! I think I need one of those fancy label printers, technology always makes me more productive, especially when it’s a new toy! LOL!

For your consideration today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Rita…

Freshly Made Sketches #149

A super simple sketch! And apparently I have lost my mind because I saw a shaker card again! No, I didn’t make one! LOL! My card base for today is Daffodil Delight Card Stock. The fun background is a piece of Basic Black that I embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. I used one of the eyeshadow applicators to “brush” some White Craft Ink on the embossed stars and pulled some next to them to give them a little movement. The center panel is a piece of Smoky Slate that is backed with Daffodil Delight. All of the images and greeting are from the Holiday Home Stamp Set*. The greeting is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black along with the house and ghosts. The house is stamped on Sahara Sand and is colored in with Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers then cut out with the Homemade Holiday Framelits*.. The ghosts are stamped on Whisper White and cut out with my Paper Snips. I used Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight to stamp the rest of the images. My house and Ghosts are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I placed two strips of Pumpkin Pie on the background before adhering the panel to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I’m really loving the little houses and “scenes” that you can create with the rest of the stamps in the set! Mojo 358

Happy Thursday! It rained a lot here on Tuesday night, some places got 13 inches in a few hours. There was a lot of flooding, I had a little puddle in front of my door inside but our poor friend Fred had a full 2 inches of water in his apartment. So many of the roads were flooded that some of my co-workers sat in their cars for over 3 hours waiting for them to get things moving. The news said that it was worse than Hurricane Sandy as far as the rain went. Weather is just really odd around here lately. Around 1:00PM the skies cleared up and the sun was out for the rest of the day. Hopefully it helped dry up some of the harder hit areas.

Now as for Andrew’s little post yesterday, I knew which one of the choices would be the most popular! LOL! I will tell you that the knee feels much better today, I can actually touch it. But if it’s not much better by Friday you may get your wish! LOL! Stay tuned!

I got a nice surprise in the mail today! When I was at Convention I went to Starbucks with my friend Eva and while we were there I bought a Salt Lake City mug. She asked if I collected them and I said yes. Well guess what my surprise was?! Here it is…

How cool is that?!?! Thank you so much Eva!! That was so sweet of you! I’ll bet that my coffee will taste much better tomorrow morning having it from my new Starbucks mug!! I just noticed that the hands on the Catalog look like they are holding the mug! Pretty neat! 🙂

I don’t know what it is with me and shaker cards lately! I hadn’t made one in forever and now I have made about five! LOL! I did use some new goodies from the Holiday Catalog too, loving all of it! The base for today’s card is Smoky Slate Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of paper from the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper* Pack along the bottom and across the seam is a piece of the All is Calm Designer Washi Tape*. They are adhered to a piece of Lost Lagoon and that is adhered to the base with SNAIL. The frame is cut out from a piece of Smoky Slate, the window with the Squares Collection Framelits. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet behind the square and behind that is another piece of paper from the All is Calm DSP Pack. Before I put the shaker together I added some of the snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins*. The snowflake on the window, the smaller one and the snow are all cut out with the Snowflake Card Thinlits* from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. A piece of Lost Lagoon is flagged on both ends and serves as the backdrop for the small snowflake and snow. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the shaker. I really love Lost Lagoon, I think it is my favorite blue ever and what better paper for snow that the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer?! Just Add Ink 226

Hello my friends. Today is the funeral and I’m in Pennsylvania. I am still remembering only the good times and fun that I had with my grandmother and thinking of the lovely comments from all of you. They all mean so much to me. I don’t have much else to say today so I’ll just get to my card.

I paid a visit to the Just Add Ink blog the other day. I haven’t done one of their challenges in a while so when I saw the sketch I knew just what I wanted to use…

Can you guess what it is? No peeking! LOL! My card is somewhat of a tall and skinny card, the base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock that I cut to 3 3/4″ wide. On top of that is a piece of All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper*. I stamped the wreath from the Wondrous Wreath Stamp Set in Pear Pizzaz and Lost Lagoon. The berries are heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the the wreath is cut out with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. A piece of Gold Sequin Trim is adhered to the wreath with Mini Glue Dots. The piece of Lost Lagoon that goes across the card is flagged on the right side and a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper goes across the bottom. The joy is from the Snowflake Card Thinlits* and is cut out from Gold Foil Sheet. All of the pieces are adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue and the strip is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I just love that wreath and the berries in gold are pretty cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Just Add Ink sketch challenge. I thank you and will be thinking of you today. SUO Challenges 102

Another Monday behind us, I always feel a little better when Monday is done. I had a very nice evening last night. Andrew came by and picked me up and we went to Friday’s for dinner. After, we came back to my place and watched Divergent, he hadn’t see it and said that he really enjoyed it. It was nice to catch up, he has been quite busy lately. He was lucky enough to win tickets to go and see Jason Mraz the Friday that I was away at Convention. He had great seats and really enjoyed himself. An evening spent with a good friend, doesn’t get better than that! 🙂

Now off the fun! The card I have for you today is for the SUO Challenges! This time we ask you to show off your favorite new toys. I was lucky enough to win what I think is probably my favorite thing out of the new holiday catalog while I was at Convention. The card begins with a base of Pear Pizzaz Card Stock The background is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp in Smoky Slate. Before I adhered the background to the card, I used the Squares Collection Framelits to cut out a piece behind the “window” and adhered a piece of All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper. The background is then adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My window is made again using the Squares Collection Framelits and a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet to the backside of the window for a more authentic look. The window is then adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. My wreath is from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Pear Pizzaz, Mossy Meadow, and Cherry Cobbler. To cut it out I used the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. The flowers are also from the same set, cut out with the same framelits, and adhered to wreath with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in some Basic Jewels Pearls and put them in the centers of all the flowers. The wreath is then adhered to the window with, yes you guessed it, Stampin’ Dimensionals! My greeting is cut out using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits from a piece of Cherry Cobbler and adhered with 2-Way Glue. I went with a white wood background because I felt it gave the card a more wintry feel and I really love the way the wreath looks on the window. So there you have my card for the SUO Challenges: Favorite New Things Challenge. I know Christmas is a ways off, but I do love to play with some new stuff. Mojo 345 and Roses

It was another nice day here yesterday, a little more humid than Sunday but sunny for most of the day. I’m very happy to see that Spring has finally arrived! We are supposed to get some rain over the next few days but I think that Sunday more than made up for a few days of rain. My day yesterday was nice, work productive but not crazy. I had some dinner with my parents and then came home and Andrew and Christine stopped by for a bit to discuss a fundraiser that we are working on. I’ll give you more details as things get finalized. It’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s for a really good cause! For a little added bonus at the end of today’s post are the roses that I made for my mum for Mother’s Day.

I looked at the sketch yesterday morning before I left for work and actually put the card together in my little brain while I was at work! Love when I can do that! I’m also giving you a look at the new In-Colors which I’m loving! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock and I covered the entire front with a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack*. The panel is a piece of Hello Honey and I cut the circles out with the Circles Collection Framelits. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card over the DSP, but let it peek through the circles and the left side. The two other circles are also cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits from Blackberry Bliss* and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Simply Celebrate Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss* and cut out with the Banners Framelits. A thin strip of Basic Gray goes down the left and it’s adhered to the circle with SNAIL. The Moonlight Designer Series Paper* is great, love the colors and patterns. Pals Paper Arts 203 & Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you wonderful mothers out there! Where would we be without you? In big trouble and if the truth be told not here at all! I do have a Mother’s Day card for you today but it’s not mine. I had a very nice relaxing day yesterday. I got my haircut and then crafted for a bit. I watched some TV and then Andrew stopped by to make his mom a Mother’s Day card. I think he did a great job! He used the Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers and even did some fussy cutting! I have the pictures to prove it too! Here he is coloring…

The funny thing is I asked him if he wanted a stamp that had a Framelit and he said yes. After he cut them out he didn’t like the white around the flower so he ended up cutting them out anyway. He did an awesome job coloring and cutting. He did some heat embossing too. And here is the card that he made for his mom…

When I see theses colors I think of fall but I decided that if your mom liked the colors my card might even make a good Mother’s Day card! LOL! I needed a collage style card. There are a lot of goodies on it so be warned! The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I adhered one of the Tea Lace paper Doilies in the right corner for a little background. Next up is a piece of Very Vanilla that I cut the top edge of with the File Tabs Edgelits Dies. I stamped the greeting from the Countless Sayings 1 & 2 Photopolymer Stamp Sets in Night of Navy. In the lower right is a piece of Night of Navy that I cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and then trimmed some of it away. The angled strip of Cajun Craze is embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and on top of it are two tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set. They are stamped in Night of Navy and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. Above that is a piece of Night of Navy that I cut out with one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies. The xoxo is from the same and is cut out from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. My tag is a piece of Night of Navy that I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder on. I also Paper-Pierced around the edge with the Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack*. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with some White Bakers Twine goes through the top. My flowers are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are stamped in Cajun Craze on Cajun Craze. I used the Gold Stampin’ Dazzle Marker to make the centers. Last up is a Regals Designer Button adhered with the new Fast Fix Adhesive. Like I said there is a lot but I think that it all works quite well together. Paper Players 194

Monday… that’s all I have to say about that! I hope that you all had a nice weekend. I definitely did! Saturday morning I did some sneaker stuff with Andrew, we had lunch and then he went home for a bit and I came home and finished up my projects for yesterday’s Creative Station post. Andrew came back later and we got some dinner and finished up my post. Yesterday I took it easy, I did some laundry and watched a few movies. A nice relaxing Sunday after a busy few days. So, did you all enjoy the first Creation Station Blog Tour yesterday?! I had so much fun making the projects and taking the pictures of the process. Thank you to all of you that visited! Time to get ready for the next one in two weeks, it will be here before you know it!

A very timely challenge seeing as Mother’s Day is next week! I have been coloring my little fingers off with the new Stampin’ Blendabilities*, they are so great that I used them on today’s card too! My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and I stamped an image from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight, stamping off too. I ran the card through the Big Shot using the File Tabs Edgelits*. My greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry on the tab. To add a little interest I adhered a piece of paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack to the inside right of the card. My tag is created using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and I stamped it with the Very Vintage Jumbo Stampin’ Around Wheel in Sahara Sand. The flowers are from the Flower Shop Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink* and colored in with the Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers*. I used the Pansy Punch to punch them out and adhered them to the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The lovely butterfly is from the “Vintage” Best of Butterflies 25th Anniversary Stamp Set and is also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black* and colored in with the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers*. He too is held in place with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Can you tell how much I am loving those Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers*?!?! I have been coloring the day away! LOL! I also am digging the File Tab Edgelits*, they add some nice interest to the card don’t you think? I hope that you enjoyed my take on this week’s challenge from Jaydee and the Paper Players. Pals Paper Arts 200

I know I say it every week, but boy am I happy that it’s Friday! There are rumors that we may get out of work early today. Let’s hope that holds true! It was cold and windy here again yesterday, I’d like to know where spring has gone. Tonight I’m supposed to go out to dinner with Anthony and Bill, we’ll probably do Friday’s because I have about 386 points on my Stripes card, which I think equates to all of us eating for free. LOL! I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s snippet of Satellite Lane. As soon as they get the edited video back from the videographer, I will post the link to that. What kind of plans do you all have to get your weekend started? Today’s post is a special one. It is the 200th Pals Paper Arts challenge! Woo-hoo! This week, the Pals have given us a sketch with a twist…

I got my April Paper Pumpkin Kit in the mail yesterday which I’m sure you have all seen since Stampin’ Up! posted the early video of it. That’s what I used for my greeting on today’s card. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock and my two panels are both pieces of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and both of them are backed with Whisper White. The top panel is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the bottom panel is adhered with SNAIL. Like I said, my greeting comes from this month’s Paper Pumpkin and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I cut it out with the Circles Collection Framelits and that too is adhered to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It needed a little something more, so I used the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and some Whisper White to punch out some flowers and gave them a little extra pop by sticking a rhinestone in the center of each one. I used the Stampin’ Pierce Mat and the Paper-Piercing Tool to shape the flowers and give them a nice three-dimensional look. As you can see, I’ve accepted both the sketch and the monochromatic challenge, which by the way, was the twist! I’ve been on a bit of a heat embossing kick lately, I’m just really liking the way it looks. The Photopolymer Stamps make a nice, crisp image, too.
