Catherine & Cathy Create 22

Hello my peeps! Are you as happy that week is over as I am?! Work was actually pretty good yesterday, the job fair went as planned and I even got out an hour early. I met up with Anthony, Danielle and Bill for dinner, yes, we went to Friday’s again. Danielle and I needed more of that Tennessee Whiskey Cake! LOL! It really was that good! We stopped at Target after dinner and I came home and made my card for today. So all in all a pretty good day.

I’m over on the Catherine & Cathy Create blog today for this month’s Hearts a Flutter challenge. We ask that you make a project that has a love theme.

I decided to go with a French theme for my card. The base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background, I stamped the En Français Background Stamp in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla. I cut out three Vellum hearts with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and spritzed them with my concoction of Bermuda Bay Re-Inker and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. After it had dried a little I rubbed my finger across it to give it little bit of a vintage look. The hearts are adhered to the card with Vellum Adhesive. The stamped image is from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede, and cut out with my Paper Snips. A piece of Cherry Cobbler is cut out with the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. Three hearts punched out from Brushed Gold Card Stock with the Small Heart Punch complete the card. I really love the Vellum spritzed with the Bermuda Shimmer mix and yes there are those blue and reds that I can’t see to get away from lately! LOL! Mojo 330 & Guest Card Maker

Ahh… Thursday, one more day to go! Don’t you just love the countdown to the weekend?! I know I do! Most of the snow that we got yesterday morning has blown away, it was nice and windy and cold here again. Work you ask, well it was crazy busy again! I did have a fun evening though. Danielle came over and we went to Friday’s for dinner. We even had some desert, the Tennessee Whiskey Cake and it was mind blowing-ly amazing! After dinner We came back to the house and Danielle sat at the craft desk and made her very first card. It’s a Valentine’s Day card for her boyfriend Derek. I think that she did a fantastic job! I love the colors and there is just enough grey to make it masculine but a good bit of love too! Here it is…

She colored the love in to make it look a little chalky and the Designer Series Paper is the “Vintage” More Amore from last year’s Occasions Catalog. I love the Smoky Slate with the paper, too bad we didn’t have that color last year! 🙂

Now on to my post for today which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

A fun tall & skinny card! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. A piece of Strawberry Slush and a piece of Gold Designer Vellum with some Gold Sequin Trim create the background. Next up is a piece of Blushing Bride that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Sale-A-Bration. I stamped the Flowerful Heart in Strawberry Slush and cut it out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. A piece of Coastal Cabana is cut out with them too and paper-pierced using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack. My greeting is form the “Vintage” Perfectly You Host(ess) Stamp Set form the 2013 Holiday Catalog and is cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it all to the card. I really liked the sketch this week and love the heart hanging off the side of the card. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and my friend Danielle’s card! SUO Challenges 89

Well, we had a little reprieve from the cold today, it got up to 38! That’s warm for us as of late, sad huh?!?! I know that most of the rest of the country is experiencing the same thing as we are here in NY. This has definitely been the worst winter we have had in a long time. Let’s hope that spring gets here quick and that the summer makes up for all of the cold we have had. My day today was quiet, work was calm and I came home and crafted for a bit and then watched a movie. nothing special, just needed to get lost for a little while. I find that if I have a lot on my mind watching something clears it for bit. I also forgot to ask yesterday who watched the Grammy’s? I thought that the best performance of the night was P!nk, that song try is one of my all time favorites! Who did you think was the best?

Today my post is for the SUO Challenges blog. This time around we ask you to create a one layer card! I do love to make them, though they can be a little challenging, I’m more of a layers person myself! My card is a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. All of the stamps are from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set except for the “string” the banners are hung from, that is from the “Vintage” Little Additions Stamp Set. The banners and greeting are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the Eiffel Tower in Soft Suede. Oh, I told a fib, the little Cherry Cobbler Heart is from the Countless Sayings 1 Photopolymer Stamp Set. Neat how it fits right inside the Eiffel Tower! My trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig helped me line everything up perfectly! A simple but fun one layer card. Paper Players 180

It’s Monday again already?! I did have a nice weekend, Saturday was fun and Sunday was relaxing. I ran some errands in the morning and spent some time crafting and the rest of the time surfing the internet. You can always find something to look at on-line. The ways that you can waste your time are almost limitless! Between Facebook, Pinterest and Movie Trailers you could easily kill a whole day! LOL! Oh, Thank you for all of your birthday wishes for my grandmother yesterday, I will be sure and pass them along to her! 🙂

Today is Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week the lovely Ann has an interesting sketch for us…

A little pocket on the front with a tag! My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The pocket for my tag is a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped in Crumb Cake with the Off The Grid Stamp and adhered to the base with Sticky Strip. My greeting is from the Love You More Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder and backed it with a piece of Coastal Cabana. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the pocket. My tag is made with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, I used the same stamp set for the greeting and stamped it three times in Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay. A piece of “Vintage” Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon fashioned into a bow is adhered to the tag and the tag is slipped into the pocket. Three hearts punched out with the Small Heart Punch from Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake complete the card. I do love the idea of the tag in the pocket, it would also be a great place to slip a gift card into! Thank you, as always, for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Control Freaks January Blog Tour

Hello everyone and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring products from the 2014 Sale-A-Bration Catalog and Love! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the talented Mary Brown’s blog. I’m excited to share my two cards with you, both of them contain some love so let’s get to them!

My first card uses some neat Sale-A-Bration goodies and is simple but fun! The base of the card is Strawberry Slush Card Stock and my background is a piece of Blushing Bride. I stamped the greeting from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set in Strawberry Slush on the background and again on a piece of Whisper White. The heart is then cut out using the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and adhered over the other greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Strawberry Slush and Blushing Bride. I used the Banner Punch** to punch them out and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of White Bakers Twine goes behind the banners to give them something to hang from. I really like the greeting stamped in the popped up heart, it give the card a little something unexpected and the banners are just fun!

My second card starts with a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock that I trimmed off the two top edges of to give it a tag look. A piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack makes the background with a Tea Lace Paper Doily on top of that. Along the bottom is a piece of Real Red that I trimmed with the Adorning Accents Edgelit Dies. I used the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut out the hearts that are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Pool Party from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to each other and the card. The greeting is from the Just Sayin” Stamp Set and are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Pool Party. Up top there is a piece of Real Red that I punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and a piece of twine from the Sweet Shop Accessory Pack** is tied in a bow. The Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack has some great colors in it and I do love that Just Sayin’ Stamp Set!

Pals Paper Arts 188

Hello from Manhattan! I ended up coming in last night to stay with my friend Kim. I took the train in and managed to stop at the Apple Store on my way. Who doesn’t like a late night visit to Apple?! It was nice coming in last night but it’s supposed to rain/snow today. It was a very good idea to come in last night rather than drive in today! Sometimes I have those, sometimes! LOL!

My card today is for one of the sweetest group of people, the Pals. This week over at Pals Paper Arts we have a simple sketch…

Simple sketches seem to be the trend this week! I do love a simple card, but we all know I love a layered up one too! We’ll have to see about one of those tomorrow! My card begins with a piece of Real Red Card Stock. A strip of Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper goes down the left side. I used some Silver Foil Sheet and the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die to trim each side of the DSP. The greeting is from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I used the Label Bracket Punch to punch it out. Another piece of Silver Foil Sheet is cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them both to the card. Paper Craft Crew 73 & Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope that you have a day planned with family and friends and that you get everything that you want for Christmas! It’s funny how your outlook on Christmas changes through the years. It used to be all about the gifts and now for me it’s about knowing that the people that are important to me are healthy and happy and that I get to spend time with the ones that I care about. Not just on Christmas but all through the year. Time is precocious and we need to remember that. Speaking of people, Andrew’s surgery went well and he is comfortably recovering at home. He read all of your comments yesterday and remarked that people can be so nice. He thanks you for keeping him your thoughts as do I. I also want to thank all of you for your visits and comments, they really brighten my days and keep me going! It may sound cheesy but your guys are the best!

Today is not only Christmas day but it’s also time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

Since yesterday’s card was so simple I needed a nice full one today! My card starts off with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock and a piece of Pool Party for the background. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the greeting from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler. The strip across the middle is a piece of paper from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. I adhered some Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around the back with Sticky Strip before I adhered it to the card. Two flagged pieces, one Smoky Slate and one Cherry Cobbler, sit behind a piece of Bermuda Bay that I cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies. The Festive Paper-Piercing Pack is used to pierce just the sides. My snowflake is cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies from a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. In the middle is one of the Frosted Finishes Embellishments backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. The small chevrons along the bottom are cut out with the Circle Card Thinlits and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two Basic Jewel Rhinestones and another piece of ribbon tied in knot complete the card. I love the Bermuda Bay and Pool Party with the Cherry Cobbler, you know me, I’m all about non-traditional! Just Add Ink 196 & Sneak Peeks

Happy Monday of a short week! How was your Sunday? Mine was spent trying to catch up! I also had to run into Manhattan last night to see a friend and there were way too many people in there! The sidewalks were packed full and the train was worse than during rush hour! I couldn’t even take any pictures. Manhattan this close to Holidays is not the best place to be if you are not a fan of crowds! LOL!

I wanted to mention that two of my cards were Favorites on Split-Coast! My card for the Control Freaks Blog Tour was a Gallery Favorite and my card for the WOW White on White Paper Players Challenge was a CAS Favorite! Thank you very much to the peeps at Split-Coast for choosing my cards! 🙂

I was looking around yesterday and I came across this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. This time they ask you to just add Christmas! I had made this card for a very good friend which is sort of a CASE of another card that I made a few weeks ago. I really love the colors so I wanted to post it and this was the perfect excuse! The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. My background is a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die* and adhered it to the base with some 2-Way Glue. Next up is a snowflake that I cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies from a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. My flag on the right consists of a piece of Bermuda Bay that I adhered a piece of the Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum* on top of. I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch* to make my tag and stamped my greeting from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set in Pool Party and Bermuda Bay. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon* tied with some Whisper White Bakers Twine goes through the top. Along the bottom left are three pieces of Bermuda Bay that I punched out with the Chevron Border Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few random matte silver and silver sequins sprinkled across the card finish it off. I really love the colors and that Hexagon Hive Die is so much fun! Pals Paper Arts 184 & Sneak Peek

Well, it was a beautiful day here yesterday! It was so nice that I even had the top down in the car for a while! I had a fun relaxing day. I had breakfast with Andrew and then we went to the mall. We met Heather at BJ’s and the went to Friday’s for lunch and I ended up back at Friday’s for dinner with Maureen! I even squeezed in some crafting time! It was a really nice day! 🙂

Thanks so much to Diane for choosing my card last week for pick! You can see my original post here and the Pals Paper Arts post here. My card for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This week we have an interesting sketch from Margaret Moody…

I wanted a overly blingy card and that’s just what I got! My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of Basic Black that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is the bling! I cut strips of Silver and Champagne Glimmer Paper and adhered them to a piece of Crumb Cake (not sure why Crumb Cake… LOL!). After I had them all adhered I trimmed off the excess and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Perfect Couple Stamp Set* and the words are heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The mustache, stamped in Basic Black, and the lips, stamped in Real Red are cut out with my Paper Snips and coated in Crystal Effects to give it some shine. The greeting is cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies and adhered to the panel of Real Red, embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Basic Black. My heart is cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits from a piece of Red Glimmer Paper and backed with another heart from the Hearts Collection Framelits. I love the mustache and lips coated with the Crystal Effects, I haven’t used it such a long time! SUO Challenges 86

Snow, more snow, I don’t really care for snow. We have had a lot of snow this year already. I would like the winter that we had two years ago, I think we had one snow storm and then the that was it. I did like that a lot! LOL! Yesterday was a pretty good day for a Monday, not too insane at work and quiet when I got home. I crafted a little and then watched the Sing Off. I don’t watch TV at all usually, thanks Andrew! LOL!

My post for today is for the SUO Challenges and this week we have a very timely challenge for you. It actually helped me out a lot! We ask you to create last minute Christmas cards and gifts. I definitely needed some more cards and I wanted them to be easy to make a bunch of. I looked around for the perfect stamp set and settled on the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Set. It’s one of our most popular sets! The bases of the cards are all Very Vanilla Card Stock. Pieces of Cherry Cobbler make a nice base for my stamped panel. Some more Very Vanilla takes on the stamps. I used Soft Sky, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Gumball Green for the snowflakes. All of the greetings are stamped in Cherry Cobbler to tie in the backing. Simple but fun and way better than any boxed cards you could buy and so much more personal! When you have a lot of cards to send out simple can be great!
