Paper Players 238

Did I mention that I woke up to a light dusting on snow yesterday morning?! Umm… old man Winter you can go now! It was a little chilly here yesterday but not too bad. I slept a little late, I guess getting up at 5:00am Saturday and going to bed at 1:00am on Sunday morning warranted a little extra sleep! LOL! Heather called me and asked if I wanted to go over to her house for breakfast, umm… yeah! She makes a pretty good breakfast so of course! We ran some errands and then went by George’s house to see the new kitty. His name is Boris and he is a Bengal. He is very friendly and quite vocal, but really he is so cute!

Boris

He is cute, right?! After all of the morning shenanigans I came home and Sandy stopped by for a bit. I chatted with Andrea on Skype and worked on my projects for the week. I also spent some time talking to Mr. Trent. Always good to catch up with him!

I’m very happy that you enjoyed all of the cards from the class at Scrap-A-Latte and the CYCI card too from yesterday! I’ll post the next four cards from February’s class this weekend!

Well, it’s Monday and that means that it’s Paper Players time! Thanks to Joanne for choosing my pickle card from last as her choice for A Cut Above! They have one of my favorite challenges this week too, a Tic-Tac-Toe…

Paper Players #238

Hmm… Claire made it quite difficult to choose by putting my favorite right in the middle! LOL! I finally settled on the middle row across, it gave me a good excuse to use some of my new goodies that I picked up from the stamp show! The card base is Whisper White Card Stock with the entire card front covered in a piece of Bermuda Bay. I took a piece of Brushed Gold Metallic Card Stock and used the Impression Obsession Fancy Cut Out Border Die on the right side. I adhered the panel to the card with Foam Tape. The feather is another Impression Obsession Die called Lg. Feather. I used Bermuda Bay and Garden Green Ink and the Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool on a piece of Whisper White. The feather is then die cut from that paper and adhered to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. Across the bottom is one more die, the Impression Obsession Greetings Top Edgers cut from a piece of Bermuda Bay with a strip of Brushed Gold Metallic across it. Some more Foam Tape holds it in place. For a little more sparkle I adhered a few Hazel & Ruby The Makery Green with Envy and Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins randomly around the feather. So I have officially decided that Bermuda Bay and Gold with a little Garden Green is my favorite color combo! I also think that feather is my all time favorite too! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Claire! Your visits make my days better so thanks for stopping by! Have a good Monday everyone! 🙂

Paper Players 236 & Manhattan

Yup, there goes another weekend! It was a good one despite the speed at which it moves. I headed into Manhattan yesterday on the 9:11am train and got to Kim’s around 10:45. We went out to the diner for a little late breakfast, I had some whole wheat pancakes and turkey sausage that was quite good! After the diner we wandered down to 86th Street and I ran into Staples and BestBuy. I picked up a new pair of Bluetooth Headphones, the ones that I have don’t last long enough! We stopped at Starbucks and had some coffee and then headed over to 63rd and First Avenue to see the future digs! I really like the apartment a lot! It’s definitely bigger and much more updated than her current one. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen!! What I wouldn’t do for a dishwasher! But the best part has to be the rooftop deck! It’s open all the time so we went up to see the view and what a view it is! I took a few pictures!

Kim NA 1

Can you see the 59th Street Bridge in the middle? How neat is that?!

Kim NA 2

Way over in the back to the left is the Chrysler Building and in the middle is the Citibank Building! Not a bad view at all! I told Kim that I would be spending my summer weekends on the rooftop deck!

I’ll have some pictures of the inside of the apartment once the current owners get the rest of their furniture out of there. I’m looking forward to getting to the decorating part!

Well, since it’s Monday I have my Paper Players card for this week’s challenge…

Paper Players #236

Lately it seems that Forever Florals has been my go to flower set! The card base for today is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. My background is a piece of Smoky Slate that I stamped in Smoky Slate with the Hardwood Background Stamp. I then used the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangles to cut out the panel and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. The greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Blushing Bride Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Vellum. The Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles cut it out and some 2-Way Glue adheres it to the wood panel. My flower is from the Forever Florals Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Blushing Bride with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place. What’s one of my cards lately without a little sprinkling of sequins?! LOL! So there you have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge from Ann. I hope that you enjoyed the card and the pictures from my future rooftop hang out! Thank you very much for your visit and have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

That weekend went fast, don’t they always?! It was s good weekend though so no complaints! I got a lot of what I wanted to get accomplished done and I found some time to just have a little crafty fun. I worked on some more projects yesterday morning. Taylor stopped by for a bit and then I went and ran some errands with my friend Maureen. We had some pizza for lunch, I was craving it. I came back to the house and finished up a few more things and then was on Skype with Eva for a while. It dawned on me around 10:00pm that I completely forgot about my Paper Players card! Yikes! I managed to put something together quick and that is the card that I have for you today.

This week’s Paper Players challenge is a color one from Anne Marie…

Paper Players #235

The colors made me think of flowers once again! I have used them a lot lately and there are some upcoming cards that feature them too. I decided to go with some abstract ones for this card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles to cut my frame out from a piece of Wild Wasabi. It’s adhered to the card with Foam Tape. The flowers are from the Snuggles and Smooches Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe on Crisp Cantaloupe and So Saffron on So Saffron. I used my Paper Snips to cut them out and the are adhered to the card with SNAIL. For the greeting I used the Simon Says Stamp Thanks Die and cut it out from a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe, it’s adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue. A nice simple quick card, I love the scribbled flowers and the script thanks! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from AnnMarie! Thank you so much for stopping by and have yourselves a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 234 & Ice!

Ugh! Monday! LOL! Just kidding! It was a very weird day weather-wise yesterday. When I headed into Manhattan on the 8:11am train it was sort of looking like the sun was going to peek out. I went to see my friends Jon and Mary, they live over on the West Side so I took a picture of the Hudson River with all of the ice in it. When I left their house I decided to walk through Central Park. Well, that wasn’t a great idea, they really didn’t clear away any of the snow and ice from the path around the Reservoir, it was like an ice skating rink! I did stop and take a picture of it so you can see how frozen it is, but they had the fountain on today? By the time I got to my friend Ella’s apartment it had just started snowing. I was there for around two hours and the last picture is what it looked like after I left. Lot’s of snow again. 🙁

When I went to leave, that’s a lot of snow in two hours! I have said it enough but I’m well over Winter! 😛

Before I get to today’s post my friend Eva asked my friend Michael to be a guest designer on her Can You Case It blog and he made two really cute cards! Head on over to his blog here and the Can You Case It blog here to take a look! Thanks!

So moving along to today’s post which is for this week’s Paper Players challenge, but first thank you to Claire for choosing my card for her Cut Above! Here is this week’s theme challenge from Laurie…

Paper Players #234

Now after seeing the pictures from yesterday you can imagine how hard it was to channel Spring! LOL! I did manage to get some bright colors and flowers! The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Daffodil Delight that I embossed with the Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used a piece of Window Sheet and some Garden Green with the Ovals Collection Framelits to create the frame for the piece of Flowerpot Designer Series Paper. The greeting is from the Hello There Host Stamp Set and is stamped in Staz-On White Opaque Ink. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to lift the frame. My flowers are from the Flower Shop, Petal Potpourri and Petite Petals Stamp Sets and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the centers and put a little Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brushtip on them. A few more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. I think that it’s nice and Spring like, bright colors and flowers! I hope that it makes you think of Spring and that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge. Thanks so much for coming by to see my card and the pictures of the Winter here in Manhattan! Have an excellent Monday! 🙂

That was a long Sunday! It was snowing huge flakes in the morning. I got to the train and it was 15 minutes late and it felt like I waited forever for a subway, 20 minutes to be exact! I got off the subway at 63rd and Lexington and stopped at Starbucks to get a coffee. I spent a nice long morning with my friend Isabella. I love seeing her, she is such a great person and so much fun to spend time with. After that I went to see my friends Julia and Ramsay! Always fun to see them and their two girls. I headed back to Penn Station around 6:15 and got the 6:51 to Hicksville. Dad picked me up and I finished my laundry and had some dinner. When I came home I sat down and made my card for today. I did snap a picture of my parent’s backyard in the morning, you can see how huge the snowflakes are!

Mom & Dads Snow

They were more like snowballs! LOL! It did get sunny in the afternoon and it wasn’t too cold. All in all a very nice way to spend a Sunday! I hope that your weekend was as good as mine!

Now on to my card for today, it’s for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from my clever friend Sandy…

Paper Players #233

I just had to dig out an old favorite of mine for this card! The base for today’s card is Night of Navy Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the front and drew around it with my Gold Gelly Pen before I removed the Framelit. The greeting is from the Hello Life Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used one size larger of the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out and then a little 2-Way Glue adheres it to the back of the front panel. The image on the banner is from the same set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with one of the elements from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. My feather is from the “Vintage” Four Feathers Stamp Set and again is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Feathers Framelits. Some 2-Way glue adheres the banner and feather to the card. A little Hemptique Natural Hemp Twine tied in a bow and adhered with a Glue Dot completes the card. Oh how I have missed my feathers! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Sandy! Thanks so much for taking some time to stop by and catch up! Have a marvelous Monday everyone! 🙂

Another weekend done. It was a good one though. I didn’t end up going into Manhattan yesterday. The trains were all running late and I was worried that because of the wind they might shut down the bridge. I will go in one night this week or next weekend. Speaking of wind it was really windy all day and incredibly cold! They said that tonight’s temperature with the wind chill will be around -20! Now that is cold! Oh Florida! LOL! So instead of heading into the city I picked up Heather and we went over to have some breakfast with Kim and the girls. Heather bought some champagne so we had mimosas. For eats we had whole wheat chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, bacon and raspberry crumble bars. I dropped Heather back off at her house around 1:00 and then came home for a bit before I headed over to see Renee at Scrap-A-Latte. Her son Nicholas was there, he’s a really nice guy. He goes to school in Boston where they have about 80 inches of snow! Again, no thanks! I told him south, you need to head south! LOL! I was there for a few hours and then come home and had dinner with the ‘rents and then crafted for a bit. Not a bad day at all!

And since today is Monday that means that it’s Paper Players time! Before I get to this week’s challenge I want to thank Joanne for choosing me as her pick for last week’s color challenge. And as luck would have it Joanne is the challenge host this week…

Paper Players #232

Ahh, a bird! I do love a bird! The card for today uses Whisper White Card Stock for the base. A piece of the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Basic Black is the background. My panel is a piece of Coastal Cabana, embossed with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with Whisper White. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. All of the images and greeting are from the Hello Love Host Stamp Set. The bird and greeting are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, the greeting is cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. I used my Soft Sky Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the bird and then cut it out with my Paper Snips. The sun is heat embossed in Crushed Curry on Crushed Curry and also cut out with my Paper Snips. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them all to the panel. Another nice and cheery card to help chase away the Winter as quickly as possible! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Another weekend just flew by! It’s raining and chilly here this morning. I had a good day yesterday, I ran some errands with my friend Maureen and then we went to Friday’s for lunch. I came home and made some cards and then sat down to watch the Grammy’s. There were a few good performances, and some not so good! I was happy to see Sam win! He was robbed for Album of the Year though! LOL! Nancy from work was there and I told her to make sure and tell Sam that I said hello! LOL!

Well, it’s Monday and you know what that means… it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #231

I could have done another Valentine but I figured that I would take a little break! LOL! Today’s card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Real Red for the Background. A piece of Crumb Cake stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Crumb Cake and also cut out with the Stitched Rectangles. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My tag is a piece of Whisper White punched with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch. I stamped it with the ampersand from the You Plus Me Stamp Set in Calypso Coral and tied a piece of Hemptique Black Hemp Twine though the top. It’s also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the same stamp set and is heat embossed in Calypso Coral Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with one of the elements from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. I used some clear foam tape to adhere it to the tag and that completes the card. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. And my vacation is officially over, it’s back to work. I had a great week in Florida so I guess I can’t complain. I spent the day yesterday catching up on emails and big comments, oh, and laundry, lots of laundry! I also got to spend some time in the Stampin’ Galley, boy did I miss that! It snowed here last night and is raining this morning, joy! Thanks to Germaine’s Paper Pumpkin workshop I did get to craft a little while I was away. I have some more pictures from Leadership that I will be sharing over the next couple of days. I love meeting everyone and getting to see my peeps from the home office. Here are a few of the lovely people that I got to see while in Orlando!

A Valentine for our furry friends! I couldn’t find any Stampin’ Up! sets that had a dog in them so I had to use a set from Simon Says Stamp. My base for today’s card is Naturals White Card Stock. I created my background using a piece of Watercolor Paper and some Gelatos mixed with water. The dog is from the Simon Says Stamp You Are Pawsome Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped him in Soft Suede used Soft Suede and Real Red to watercolor him. Some Black and Gold Gel Pens are used for his eyes, nose and name tag. He is cut out with the coordinating dies. The greeting is cut out from a piece of Watercolor Paper and some Real Red using the Simon Says Stamp Pawsome die, they are glued together and then adhered to the card. My balloon is from the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set, I used my Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers to ink up the edges and then watercolored the image. The coordinating Ballon Framelits cut out the ballon and the bow from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. Some black hemp twine is used for the string and the ballon and dog are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the look of watercolored images and especially like the effect of the Gelatos on the background! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge, I had fun making it! Thank you so much for taking some time to visit with me today! I wish us all a very good Monday! 🙂

Apparently I got out of NY just in time, they are supposed to have a major snow storm Monday night into Tuesday morning. They say up to 18 inches. They can have all the snow that they want while I’m away, in fact get it all out of the way before I get back!!

I ‘m lucky enough to have been invited to stay with my friend Germaine and her husband Mike In Rotunda West. They have a lovely house in a beautiful area. Dinner was delicious and we had home made bread pudding for dessert! Here is her cute fluffy cat Ginger…

I really love that Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper, especially since I’m such a fan of inked backgrounds, it’s perfect for them. I would however like a whole stack of the stars pattern please! The base for my card today is Blackberry Bliss Card Stock. My background is created with a piece of the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper and Blackberry Bliss and Night of Navy Ink applied with the Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool. You could easily do this technique with Sponge Daubers, I just like the handle on the tool. Across the bottom of the background is a piece of Vellum Card Stock to go along with the sketch. My circle is a piece of Night of Navy and all of the little circles are cut out using the Simon Says Stamp Confetti Circles Die. I then cut that out with the Circles Collection Framelits and backed it with a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. The enjoy is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and is cut out from Whisper White and adhered with little pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love that Irresistibly Yours DSP inked with the Blackberry Bliss and Night of Navy for a cool night sky! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge. Thank you for coming by today to visit! Have a wonderful Monday!! 🙂

Yes, it rained all day yesterday just like they said it would. I didn’t go anywhere except to see Daniel at my parents. My brother and his wife went to a wedding so my parents watched Daniel. He is so damn cute I can’t stand it! We gave him some stew and he loved it and then I fed him his fruit. We ran around and payed with the magnets on the fridge. He is trying to talk and he gets a little annoyed that you don’t understand what he is trying to tell you. It won’t be long now! I did manage to get a lot of crafting done yesterday. I didn’t get as much done as I had planned because I decided that I would try my hand at a mixed media project and I got lost in it. Time sure does fly when you are having fun! What were you all up to yesterday?

Today, being Monday, means that I have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #228

A fun challenge from LeAnne! I decided that I would break out the Bravo Stamp Set and go from there. My card base for today is a piece of 12″ x 12″ Crumb Cake Card Stock that I cut to 5 1/2″ x 12″ and scored at 4″ and 8″ to make a trifold card. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the window, the frame from a piece of Night of Navy and a piece of Vellum. The greeting, from the Bravo Photopolymer Stamp Set, is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the Vellum and adhered to the card behind the frame. On the panel inside I adhered a piece of Maritime Designer Series Paper. When you fold the card you can slightly see the DSP through the window. Definitely a very clean card that puts the sentiment front and center! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. It’s always good to have you stop by and I hope that you have a magnificent Monday! 🙂
