Paper Players 185

Monday, why must you come so quickly when I was having such a nice weekend?! Yesterday was a very nice day. I crafted in the morning and then went over to Heather’s house to watch the Bethpage St. Patrick’s Day Parade (I know, I thought it was a bit early too!) and after we headed over to Headquarters for some food and fun. It was nice to see so many people that I haven’t seen in a while. I left around 5:00 to go and meet Sandy for dinner. We went to the Pastrami King in Merrick. WOW! It was absolutely delicious! We talked and caught up, I don’t get to see Sandy as much as I would like to but we are going to work on changing that! I came home and spent the rest of the evening getting caught up. How was your weekend?

Monday, you know what that means?! It’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. For this week Ann has give us a “Thankful for Spring” challenge…

Paper Players #185

I tried something different on my card today but we’ll get to that in a minute. For my base I used a piece of Real Red Card Stock. The background on the right is a piece of the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper and the left is a piece of Soft Sky. Here is my something different, I took a piece of the Naturals 7/8″ Ribbon and used a Stampin’ Spritzer and some Coastal Cabana ink mixed with alcohol to dye the ribbon. On top of that is another piece of the Fresh Prints DSP and a combination of Mini Glue Dots and Sticky Strip hold it all in place. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and the 3/16″ Corner Rounder to make my tag. The leaves are from the Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set and are stamped in Crumb Cake. The flowers; stamped in Soft Sky, Coastal Cabana and Real Red; are from the Petite Petals Stamp Set and are punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. My greeting is from the Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with some Crumb Cake Bakers Twine finishes off the tag. I love the way the Natural 7/8″ Ribbon looks dyed and I really love the way the tag came out! And there you have my card for this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge from Ann. I really hope that you enjoyed the card and I tank you for visiting with me! Have a great Monday! 🙂

Yeah! Thursday! One more day to go until… FRIDAY! It snowed here yesterday morning but thankfully it didn’t amount to anything. We are supposed to get another storm on Sunday night, fingers crossed that it’s not snow and rain instead! I had a nice day yesterday. The best part was doing my Stampin’ Up! Webinar last night. It was the same one that I did at Leadership, Pinteresting. Thank you to all of you that joined in and if you missed it it will we posted sometime next week on the Demonstrator site. I also want to thank Katie Adams and Brian Pilling for their assistance last night. You guys are awesome! 🙂

Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I love it when they mix it up and this week is one of those weeks that they did just that. Julee Tilman has given us this tall skinny sketch…

Mojo334

This was one of those times that I knew exactly what I was going to do when I saw the sketch! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and the background consists of four layers. The top one is just a simple piece of Sahara Sand. The bottom three are Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party and Pistachio Pudding. I used my Fringe Scissors on each piece and overlapped them. My tag is created with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and some Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Whisper White to make it a little more sturdy. I tied a piece of twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack throughout the top of the tag and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bird is from the Natures’s Hello Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. Behind him is a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I stamped with one of the stamps form this month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit in Pistachio Pudding and punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. Behind that is a piece of Summer Starfruit that is punched out with the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. I adhered it to the tag and done! I really do like the stamps in the Nature’s Hello Stamp Set, they are neat because they have the greeting inside the image. Hopefully the Fringe Scissors with be back in stock soon, they are so much fun! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Mojo Monday card for this week’s sketch challenge. I hope that you all have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you back here tomorrow for my Fab Friday Design Team card. I did something a little different and you’ll have to let me know what you think! 🙂

Hello my friends, how was the weekend? Mine was good. It was a very nice day here yesterday we got up to 58 degrees, yes the top was down in the car! I have been waiting months to put it down! I did some crafting in the morning and then spent the rest of the day with my friend Heather. We ran some errands and then just hung out at her house and talked and laughed. I love days spent with my friends, they really are the best!

It’s Monday so that means it time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week we have a sketch from Jaydee…

Paper Players #184

I really love the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper, it has great colors and nice soft patterns and images. My card today starts off with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock and the background is a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper. Next up is a Tea Lace Paper Doily that helps to anchor the greeting. Before that, a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe, Tangerine Tango and Silver Foil Sheet go across the middle. My greeting is from the You’re Lovely Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration and is stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe and cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. Two Basic Jewels Rhinestones on either side give it a little sparkle. Even though the DSP doesn’t list Crisp Cantaloupe I think it works really well with it, especially with the Tangerine Tango. And there you have my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Jaydee. I really do appreciate your stopping by and also taking time to leave a comment. You guys make my day every day! Have a great Monday everyone! 🙂

Another weekend behind us and on to the start of a new week. I had a very nice weekend, they are always the best when I get to spend them with my peeps. Yesterday I ran some errands in the morning and then met my friend Heather for some lunch. We went to Taco Joe’s and I had a yummy chicken quesadilla. After lunch we ran some more errands, one of which was stopping at Stew Leonard’s, and then went back to Heather’s and had a glass of wine. It was called Juary Gil Jumilia Red and it was quite delicious. I came home and watched another movie (two in one weekend!) called Warm Bodies. It was a zombie movie with a different spin, it was pretty good. What were all of you up to this weekend?

Monday means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week the clever LeAnne has asked us to make a clean and simple card with stars…

Paper Players #183

I found the inspiration for my card from one that I saw on Pinterest, speaking of Pinterest if you are a Demonstrator don’t forget to sign up for my webinar on Wednesday, February 26th at 6:00pm Mountain time! The card starts off with a base of Very Vanilla Card Stock. A piece of Coastal Cabana is up next, stamped with the Happy Day Stamp Set in Chocolate Chip and I used the Finishing Touches Edgelits Die along the bottom edge. There is that “Vintage” Young Vermillion again and he is stamped in Chocolate Chip. Along the bottom is one of the stamps from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set that is stamped in Coastal Cabana. I used one of the Stampin’ Spritzers to spritz on some Coastal Cabana and wound some Linen Thread around the bottom before I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The three stars from the Merry Mini’s Punch Pack are punched out from Crumb Cake and a heart from Coastal Cabana with the Small Heart Punch are also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. He needed a little sparkle so I replaced his branch with a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper! I actually think that that little bird is my all time favorite stamp, he is so detailed! So there you have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge from LeAnne. I hope that you enjoy the card and thank you for taking some time out of your day to visit with me, have a great Monday! 🙂

So, the Superbowl was great huh?! Ok, I’ll admit the only thing that I watched was the half-time show. I thought that it was a pretty good show, Bruno Mars sounds good live and appearance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was neat if not a bit odd. There was plenty of food and friends to keep me occupied. My friend Michelle brought over fresh strawberries with caramel, chocolate ganachè, peanut butter and cream cheese dip for them. They were delicious and I had a hard time picking a favorite, so I sampled them a few times! LOL! I also had a nice day in Manhattan, I visited some people in the morning and then met my friend Kim for some lunch. We ate fresh, I had my usual BMT, I haven’t had it in a long time and it was yummy! I then stopped by my friend Julia’s house and her little girl Cecily gave me a card that she made for me. It’s so cute! I think we have a future crafter on our hands!

You can see my original post HERE and the Paper Players winners post HERE. Now for this week the lovely Anne Marie has given us this theme challenge…

Paper Players #181

As I was siting there pondering what I was going to do I spied a Vintage set of Framelits and that’s where the idea for this card began. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Coastal Cabana from the Countless Sayings 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. On the bottom part I embossed a piece of Baked Brown Sugar with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My lollipops are form the Sweets for the Sweet Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used bamboo skewers for the sticks and adhered them to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A piece of Window Sheet stamped with the “Vintage” Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set in Opaque White Staz-On and cut out with the “Vintage” Cannery Framelits Dies is adhered to the skewers with more Multi-Purpose Glue. To cover up the glue I cut out a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper with the heart from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I love the Window Sheet stamped with the Opaque White Staz-On, it really does look like glass and the Champagne Glimmer Heart give the card just a little bit of sparkle! Thank you for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge. I hope you all have a great Monday! 🙂

It’s Monday again already?! I did have a nice weekend, Saturday was fun and Sunday was relaxing. I ran some errands in the morning and spent some time crafting and the rest of the time surfing the internet. You can always find something to look at on-line. The ways that you can waste your time are almost limitless! Between Facebook, Pinterest and Movie Trailers you could easily kill a whole day! LOL! Oh, Thank you for all of your birthday wishes for my grandmother yesterday, I will be sure and pass them along to her! 🙂

Tomorrow is the big day people! Sale-A-Bration starts! Do you have your lists ready?!?! I have a few orders to put in for customers already! Sale-A-Bration is really good this year, so many fun new goodies! Just a reminder that today is also the last day that you can order from the special Valentine’s Whole Lotta Love Promotion. If you wanted any of the stamp sets, bags or monsters better place that order today!

Today is Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week the lovely Ann has an interesting sketch for us…

Paper Players #180

A little pocket on the front with a tag! My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The pocket for my tag is a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped in Crumb Cake with the Off The Grid Stamp and adhered to the base with Sticky Strip. My greeting is from the Love You More Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder and backed it with a piece of Coastal Cabana. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the pocket. My tag is made with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, I used the same stamp set for the greeting and stamped it three times in Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay. A piece of “Vintage” Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon fashioned into a bow is adhered to the tag and the tag is slipped into the pocket. Three hearts punched out with the Small Heart Punch from Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake complete the card. I do love the idea of the tag in the pocket, it would also be a great place to slip a gift card into! Thank you, as always, for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. I hope that you all have a mayhem free Monday! 🙂

Exciting news people, it’s Thursday already! Yesterday was a pretty good day. I went and picked up Andrew and took him to LaGuardia for his flight to Los Angeles. It took me less time to drive there than it did to get home from work last night, and I work 10 minutes from my house! The roads around here are not in good shape but the parkways are great. Couple that with the fact that a lot of people didn’t got to work yesterday and it was almost a perfect ride to and from the airport. I had one minor glitch, apparently I had no washer fluid left so my windshield was white the whole time! Not very good especially when the sun hit it. I managed to get home in one piece and promptly filled up the reservoir. Work was good, it was only from 12:00 to 5:00 today, every day should be like that! Andrew’s flight left 25 minutes late but they got to LA on time. I hope he has a great time!

I’m very late this week posting my Paper Players card, not sure what happened! LOL!. This week the challenge is a clean and simple one layer card from wonderful Sandy…

Paper Players #179

I had a little vision when I read the challenge and then I kept forgetting to make the card! LOL! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Fine Feathers Stamp Set to heat emboss the image on the base using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Island Indigo and Garden Green are applied using eye shadow sponges to give it color. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set (apparently a favorite of mine this week!) and is stamped in Island Indigo. It doesn’t get much cleaner or simpler than that! I really love the way the feather looks with inks sponged, I used the eye shadow applicators to get a little more precise control. There is my card for this week’s Paper Players CAS One Layer challenge. I really hope that you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing in my day! 🙂

Well, I made it back to New York safely from Houston yesterday! Everything went smoothly, which is always nice. Andrew pulled up outside the airport right as I was walking out and we headed to Manhattan and met up with Kim for some lunch. After, Andrew and I wandered around a bit and then headed home. I did manage to snap a few pictures from the plane yesterday. I got a nice one of Houston as I was leaving and some good ones of New York right before we landed.

Good by Houston.

Hello Freedom Tower!

IMG_2483

And there is Citi Field.

I was happy to sit down at my craft desk and make my Paper Players card for this week’s color challenge from LeAnne…

Paper Players #178

I will admit, I was little stumped when I first saw the color challenge. They definitely aren’t colors that I would normally put together! The base of my card is Pear Pizzazz Card Stock and I angled the top to make it look like a tag. The background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and I used the Finishing Touches Edgelits along the bottom. A strip of Primrose Petals is embossed with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two large hearts are cut out from Crushed Curry and Primrose Petals using the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and the smaller heart is punched out with the Full Heart Punch. The large Crushed Curry heart and the smaller Primrose Petals heart are both embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder**. The arrow is from the Label Card Thinlits Dies and is cut out of a piece of Coastal Cabana. I cut it in half to make it look like it was going through the heart. My greeting is from the Just Sayin’ Stamp Set, is stamped in Primrose Petals, and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits Dies. The tiny heart is punched out from a piece of Crushed Curry with the Small Heart Punch and finishes off the card. This was definitely an interesting color combination, but when it’s all said and done I think the card came out nice! Thanks so much for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from LeAnne. I’ll have a few more pictures from Leadership for you tomorrow. I hope you enjoy your Monday! 🙂

Well, despite the fact that it was a rainy day here my friend Heather and I ventured into Manhattan. She said that she wanted to get a coat and I haven’t been shopping in forever so I suggested that we go to Macy’s in Herald Square. If you can’t find it there chances are that you don’t need it! LOL! It is after all the world’s biggest department store. We had a nice day shopping and there were really good sales too! I got a coat, some sweaters, a sweat jacket and pants. Heather got two coats, she couldn’t decide between them! I took a few pictures, the first one is inside on the first floor. It’s where most of the holiday decoration are around Christmas.

The next one is a view down 34th Street towards Madison Square Garden.

And the last one is a selfie of us under the awing outside on 34th Street.

After we finished with our shopping we headed uptown and met my friend Kim and had some pizza before we started back home. A very nice day indeed!

After a little break the Paper Players are back! This week the challenge is to use the Chalkboard technique…

Paper Players #177

I don’t usually veer away from standard card sizes but I did today. My card starts off with a base of Soft Sky Card Stock that I cut to 7″ x 6 1/2″ and folded. I stamped the Hardwood Background Stamp in Soft Suede on Soft Suede and used my Paper Trimmer to separate the planks, they form the frame around my chalkboard. The image is from the Perfect Couple Stamp Set and the greeting is from the Yippee-Skippee Stamp Set, they are both heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and I used my sponge and some Craft Ink whiten up the black. Not too involved but really fun none the less! I love the Hardwood Stamp cut apart and used as a frame. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Thank you for visiting, have a great Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 176 & Peeks

Now that was a fun and busy weekend! I spent most of the day yesterday catching up on projects and I’m much further along than I thought I would be but I still have much to do! It was a pretty nice day here, the sun even peeked out for a little while. First today, I want to wish my friend Brian King a very Happy Birthday today!! 🙂

On another note, I was outside last night and I took the picture below. It looks a little creepy no?!

Creepy 12-15-2013

For as good as the iPhone 5 camera is, night shots is not one of it’s strong suits! Kind of eerie though!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week the super talented Sandy has given us a WOW (White on White) challenge…

Paper Players #176

I can’t remember the last time, if ever, I did a white on white card. The only card stock that I used on the card is Whisper White. I did emboss a piece with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder ** for the layer in between my base and front panel. Speaking of the front panel all of the stamped images and greeting are from the Happy Congratulations Stamp Set* and are stamped in Encore Gold Metallic except for the lanterns. The lanterns are heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum Card Stock and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. I hid some Stampin’ Dimensionals behind them to adhere them to the card and give it a little more depth. I had a lot of fun making my White on White card for the challenge. The picture doesn’t really show how nice and shiny the lanterns are and how pretty the gold ink looks. Thank you for coming by to see me and my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. I hope you enjoyed my take on the challenge and that you have a very great Monday! 🙂
