Paper Players 315

What a fun day yesterday at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store! I mentioned that they are doing construction right?! Well yesterday it was our turn to have the facade of the building taken down. So much noise and mess! Renee was smart and took the day off! I did have one person come in the morning to make the house. Around 3:30 I lost internet because they cut the cable wire! I called the rest of the people that were scheduled to take the class and said we would have to reschedule and I closed up around 4:00. Don’t ask what the cable is just cut it! So annoying! I stopped home and then went over to Heather’s so we could run some errands and have dinner. Kim and Stephanie came by for Thirsty Thursday! We had a great time as always. Today I need to get a ton of projects finished and hopefully we will have internet!

Today I have my project for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

paper-players-315

My friend Andrea very cleverly said to me, well you were going to share the house on your blog so why not use it for the challenge?! She is so smart sometimes! Here is the 3D Haunted House that I made for the class! I used the Tim Holtz Village Dwelling and the Village Manor Add-On Dies. All of the main parts of the house are cut from Black 110lb Card Stock and the fence, chimneys, door and windows from Battleship Gray. I used Vellum in the windows and the roofs are cut from American Crafts Black Glitter Card Stock. The windows, doors and chimneys have a little Black Soot Distress Ink added. I used Scor-Tape and Multi-Matte Medium to glue everything together. For a little extra spook I added a sparkly bat and ghost. There is a flickering tea light inside too! I do love the way the house came out! It’s simple but fun! I hope that you like my project for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fantastic Friday! 🙂

Tuesday it was warm and muggy and I had on jeans, yesterday it was warm when I left for the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store and by 12:00 it was cold and I had shorts on! I guess I need to pay a little more attention to the weather before I leave the house! LOL! Speaking of the store Angie was with us today, she worked from “home”! I also got a very nice surprise, my friend Patrice stopped by with her mum! It was so nice to see her and she brought some of her fabulous cards to show me! I wish I had taken some pictures, she is so talented! I’m going to get her to join Instagram and share her work! Today Renee has her Home Decor Class and I’m going to get my newsletter out!

Before we get to my little bit of craftiness that I have to share with you today I want to thank Clare for choosing me as her Cut Above for last week’s Taste of Fall Challenge! You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE! Now for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

paper-players-314

I’m really loving the new “hand drawn sets” from Altenew and I think that this set might have my favorite greeting ever! My card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock. I used the coffee bean stamp from the Altenew Coffee Love Photopolymer Stamp Set and heat embossed it in Hero Arts Copper and Gold Embossing Powder. The strip down the right side is a piece of Authentique 12×12 Paper from the Fabulous line. I used the Lawn Fawn Dotted Circles Stackables Lawn Cuts to cut out a circle and another piece of the 12×12 paper. My greeting and all of the images are also from the Coffee Love Set. The greeting is stamped in Onyx Black. Some E-Z Runner and Fun Foam adheres the circle to the card. I heat embossed the coffee press in Copper onto a piece of Vellum, cut it out with my Scissors and colored in the back with a Copic. It’s adhered to the circle with Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape. For a little bit of a change I heat embossed the cups onto a piece of Gold Mirror Card Stock and cut them out too. They are adhered with 3D Foam Squares. Of course no card would be complete without a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold and Rose Gold Sequins! Someone saw the card at the store and said that it reminded them of an ad for coffee! I do love the Stamp Set, especially the embossed coffee beans! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge! Thank you for your visit and I wish you all a lovely Thursday! 🙂

I’m typing my post on my MacBook Air for the second night in a row. I used it last night because I did it while I was at Heather’s and tonight because I’m upgrading the iMac to Mac OS10 Sierra. I have been using the beta on my iMac at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store and am really liking it! I’m really happy with the new iOS10 for my iPhone and iPad Pro too, although I have noticed a little less battery time! I’m sure that they will get that straightened out in the next update. Have all of you that are iPhone/iPad users updated? I’m a big techie so yes, I would like to know what you think! The Store was fun yesterday, Renee had her Foiling Around class and I tried to get things done but alas my concentration just wasn’t with me. I’ll give it another shot today! Sue did come by the store yesterday and then she picked me up after work so we could go to IKEA to get some goodies for her craft room re-do! We also had SmashBurger for dinner! YUM! Instead of Thirsty Thursday tonight I’ll be going to see George play softball with Heather and Stephanie, that should be fun!

My little bit of craftiness that I have to share with you today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Before we get to that though I want to thank Colleen for choosing me as her Cut Above for last week’s challenge! You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE. Now on to this week…

There is a set that I have been dying to ink up and I thought this challenge would be a good time to do so! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the leaves from the Hero Arts Grateful Leaves Stamp & Die Combo in Hero Arts Autumn Ombre Ink with the veins stamped in Cup O Joe and then I cut them out with the Coordinating Dies. The coffee cup is from the Coffee Cup Stamp & Die Combo and is stamped in Red Royal for the cup and Cup O Joe for the lid and sleeve. All of those pieces are also cut out with the Coordinating Dies. I stamped the greeting from the Leaves Set in Red Royal onto the sleeve and then used 3D Foam Squares to adhere the sleeve to the cup. My leaves are then adhered to the card with Dot Runner Adhesive, some DMC Gold Thread is nested and then the coffee cup is adhered with more 3D Foam Squares. Yes, there are those Pretty Pink Posh sequins again! This time some Gold, Raspberry and Marigold ones! I love that coffee cup and the Autumn Ombre Ink is just so cool! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Thank you so very much for continuing to stop by! Have an awesome Thursday! 🙂

We had a nice little storm that passed through yesterday evening here. It started out nice and sunny and then out of nowhere, heavy rain and in about an hour it was finished. Saved me from having to water my Parent’s lawn! My day at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store was nice and productive. I managed to get two cards made! Sue came up around 1:00 and helped me cut for Card Class. We had that finished pretty quickly! After work I drove over to Heather’s in that lovely heavy rain. It’s funny because in the convertible it sounds like you are under an umbrella! I picked up Heather, we stopped at my house so I could drop off my bags and let Winston out and then we ran to BJ’s. From there it was back to her house where she made me a nice salad for dinner. We then sat outside and enjoyed the evening. Today is the first day of the Lawn Fawn Card Class for this month! Can’t wait to see all of the peeps making the cards!

One of the cards that I made at the Store yesterday is for this week’s Paper Players challenge

paper-players-312

Today is day for of my friend Linda’s challenge, one more day to go! My card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock. I used the Concord & 9th Layering Leaves Dies to cut out some more Ivory 110lb. They are colored with Hero Arts Just Rust, Mustard and Green Hills using my Mini Ink Blending Tool. I adhered them to the card in a circle using Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. A cluster of three is adhered in the upper right and a May Arts Natural Twine Bow that Renee tied for me is adhered to the cluster with Multi-Matte Medium. I then adhered the cluster to the card with a 3D Foam Square. My greeting is from the Concord & 9th Give Thanks Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed it in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder and used my Scissors to cut it out. More 3D Foam Squares adhere it to the card. It wouldn’t be a card of mine without a few Pretty Pink Posh Sequins, today some Rose Gold ones! I love the nice color variation that you get from adding the ink to the card stock after you die cut it and I think the thanks looks so cool cut out and popped up! I hope that you enjoy my card for this week’s Paper Players Color Challenge! Thank you for stopping but to see me today! Have an awesome Thursday! 🙂

I’m almost all caught up at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store! My Hero Arts order is all entered! Finally! LOL! The Magic of Vellum Class was great! Everyone was very impressed with the technique that they learned and I got some feedback for future classes from my talented students! My Parent’s stopped by the store and we got to FaceTime with Aunt Shirley in London. After work it was time for this week’s Thirsty Thursday! Heather, Stephanie and I sat outside and enjoyed the perfect evening! Today I’m off to Manhattan for much needed visit! I’ll stop by The Ink Pad and then go uptown to see my friend Ella. From there I’m going to meet Kim and maybe have some dinner! I’m looking forward to it! As I had mentioned earlier in the week this is my first post for today! There will be another one around 12:00 for the new Design Team that I’m on over on the Where Creativity Meets Concord & 9th Challenge Blog! Be sure to come back for that!

This morning I have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge to share with you…

Paper Players #311

Circles… I haven’t made a round card in a very long time! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles Stackables Lawn Cuts to cut out the folded card base except for about 1/8″ at the top. I then trimmed off about an 1/8″ from the bottom of the back panel and put it aside. My front panel on my card is stamped with the Concord & 9th Flourish Photopolymer Stamp Set in Altenew Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Deep Iris, Midnight Violet, Forest Glades and Evergreen Crisp Inks using my Mini MISTI. I used the same Stitched Circle Die to trim it out and adhered it to the card base with E-Z Runner. To frame the card I cut out a piece of Gold Mirror Card with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circle Frames Lawn Cuts and adhered it to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. My greeting is another piece of Gold Mirror Card cut out with the Concord & 9th Wonderful Words Dies. It’s adhered to the card with Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold, Amethyst and Pansy Purple Sequins finish the card! I love that Flourish Set and can’t believe that it’s the first time I’m using it! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Thanks for coming by this morning, don’t forget to stop back this afternoon to see the second post! Have an easy Friday morning! 🙂

I saw a very funny post by a friend on Facebook yesterday, it said “I’m 100% sure that 70% of my work will not be completed today” and that was true for me! It was just one of those days where you have things to do but little motivation to do them. I think that we all need a not very productive day every so often. I’m sure that today I will wish that I had done more today but it will get done… eventually! I did help Elyse learn how to use her new Altenew Stamps yesterday. She stopped by the store with Nancy and we had a little mini lesson. Interacting with people and bringing out their creativity is by far the best part of my job! I know I say it a lot but the look on a person’s face when they do something that they didn’t think they could do is awesome! After dinner I did come home and make two cards, so the day wasn’t a total loss! We are supposed to get some rain today, we haven’t had any in a while so I guess we need it. Hopefully the long weekend will be good, the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store and Scrap-A-Latte are both closed on Sunday and Monday! Two day weekend! Woo hoo! LOL!

One of my cards that I made last night is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. A nice simple sketch from Nance…

Paper Players #310

My card starts off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, the front is covered in a piece of Ballerina Pink. The patterned paper is a piece of Blazing Floral from the Echo Park Summer Party 12×12 Collection. My greeting is the Concord & 9th Beautiful You Die, I cut it from Solar White 110lb three times and adhered them together with Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. It’s then coated in Versa-Mark and heat embossed twice with Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder. The rest of the greeting is from the Concord & 9th Beautiful Words Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in more Copper onto a piece of 48lb Vellum. I flagged the left side, adhered the beautiful to it with more Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive and then used Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape to adhere the Vellum to the card. A sprinkling of Rose Gold, Sparkling Clear, Fresh Mint, Watermelon and Copper Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and the card is done! I love the way the greeting turned out with the dimensional beautiful and the rest heat embossed on Vellum! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players Challenge! Thanks for your visit today! Have a terrific Thursday! 🙂

I need a nap! LOL! Thank god that Sue came by the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store to help me yesterday! I would have never gotten all of that Lawn Fawn and Pretty Pink Posh checked in and entered! The Partial Die Cutting Class was so much fun! I love showing people new things to add to their crafting arsenal! My buddy Melissa stayed behind after the night class to help me straighten up. We left around 8:30. When I got home I had a bunch more stuff to do and there is still more to be done today! But tonight is Thirsty Thursday and I get to see my peeps! Oh, and have a nice glass of whine! YAY! Let’s see, I have my store, my peeps and all of you! I’m one lucky guy wouldn’t you say?! 😀

My little bit of creativity that I have to share with you today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge from my friend Sandy…

Paper Players #309

She just happened to stop by the store while I watercoloring my ice pops the other day so she got a sneak peek at the card! My base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card stock with the front covered in a piece of Cyber Grape. I stamped the stripes onto a piece of Ballerina Pink with the Concord & 9th Stripe Builder Photopolymer Stamp in some Cotton Candy Crisp Ink. Before I adhered it to the card I cut out the word sweet with the Concord & 9th Sweet & Cool Dies. My ice pops are from the Concord & 9th Sweet & Cool Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed them in Hero Arts Brass Embossing Powder onto a piece of Arches 140lb Watercolor Paper and colored them with my Mijello Mission Gold Watercolors. They are cut out using one of the other dies from the Sweet & Cool Die Set and adhered to the card with 3D Foam Squares. I stamped the rest of the greeting in Deep Iris Crisp Ink and added a few Pretty Pink Posh Amethyst and Gold Sequins around the pops to finish the card! Love that Sweet & Cool Stamp & Die set! It’s makes for a nice fun birthday card don’t you think?! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Thanks for sharing in my day! Have a absolutely amazing Thursday! 🙂

Hmm… sometimes the hardest sentence to write is the first one. There got that out of the way! How is everyone? I’m well, I got a lot accomplished at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store yesterday with a little help from my friend Sue! She came by to keep me company and help me cut for class. I had gotten most of it done in the morning, my new no procrastination rule! The most tedious stuff, the die cutting, is what she helped with! So everything is bagged up and ready for today and tomorrow! I got my Lawn Fawn invoice today so that has shipped and will be here in time for the release next week! Hopefully my Hero order will ship soon too! Can’t wait to play with some of their new Holiday goodies! After I ate dinner last night I came home and finished up my card for today and cleaned a little, put laundry away and watched a little YouTube. Not too shabby for a Wednesday!

My card that I have to share with you today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Now those are some fun bright colors! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the triangles using the Altenew Sohcahtoa Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark onto a piece of Arches 140lb Watercolor Paper and heat embossed them with Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder. To color them in I used my Mijello Mission Gold Watercolors. After they dried I cut them out with my Scissors, nice and easy fussy cutting, and adhered them to the card with 3D Foam Squares. My greeting is from the Altenew Super Script Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Gold onto a piece of Black 110lb. I cut out the friend with the Coordinating Dies and the happy birthday with my Paper Trimmer. They too are adhered to the card with 3D Foam Squares. A sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins finishes the card. I love the bright but subtle watercolored triangles with the nice bold greeting! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Thank you for your visit today! Have a tantalizing Thursday! 🙂

What a lovely day I had yesterday! I went and picked up Ken Oliver from his hotel at 8:15 and we went to the diner for breakfast. We both had omelets and some bacon and a very nice chat! We arrived at the store around 9:40 and he started to get set up for his class. He did stitched watercolor cards and joked that he was nervous making cards in front of me, the card king! Sort of a big deal when Ken Oliver says something like that! LOL! He is a really good teacher and everyone had a great time! After he got everything cleaned up Renee and John drove him out to the ferry so he could make his way up to Massachusetts. I really enjoyed getting to spend time with him and hope that he comes back soon! Here is a little selfie of us…

Me & Ken 2016

After work we had Thirsty Thursday at Heather’s and she made me a delicious salad for dinner! Stephanie came by and we laughed the evening away! I love my peeps and can’t think of a better way to spend a Thursday evening!!

Today I have the card that I made for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #307

I’m a bit late this week because of the blog hop but as soon as I saw the graphic my card just popped into my head! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. For the background I used the new Concord & 9th Barnwood Photopolymer Stamp and stamped it in Hero Arts Wet Cement onto a piece of Battleship Gray. The lightbulb is from the Concord and 9th Shine Brighter Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed all of the pieces for the image in Hero Arts Platinum Embossing Powder onto a piece of Arches 140lb Watercolor Paper. I then used my Koi Pocket Field Sketch Box Watercolors to color it in. I realized after I had finished that the bulb and base are two different dies so I cut the image out with my trusty Scissors. My greeting is from the Concord & 9th Being Classy Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Platinum onto a piece of 48lb Vellum and cut out with the Coordinating Being Classy Dies. I used Foam Tape to adhere the lightbulb and Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape to adhere the greeting. All that was left to do was to add a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins! I LOVE that Barnwood Stamp, I think it just may be the best woodgrain background I have ever seen! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Thanks so much for being a part of my day! Have a fantastic Friday! 🙂

Another Wednesday done! I was all by myself at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store yesterday, well, except for customers! Renee took a much needed day off to spend time with Nick! I spoke to my friend Dianne who told me about a girl that gives Hand-lettering classes! I would love to get someone in to teach that! I would take the class too! I also spoke to Michael and Sue! I did manage to get all of my prep finished for today’s Watercolor 101 Class. I love the way the cards turned out and hope that the students enjoy them just as much! I really do enjoy watercoloring, you can do it so many different ways! The weather here yesterday was just perfect, around 80 degrees so the ride home in the convertible was lovely! Last night I helped my dad with some stuff, had dinner and then came home and tried to decide how I want to re-arrange my house. I need to have a major purge and soon!

Today I have a nice simple card to share with you that I made for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Before we get to that I want to thank LeAnne for making me her Headliner for last week’s sketch! You can see the winners post HERE and my original post HERE! Now for this week…

Paper Players #306

I do love a Tic-Tac-Toe board! I went down the last row and across the top too I guess! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Lawn Fawn Chili Pepper Card Stock with the Hero Arts Irregular Grid Bold Prints Background in Red Royal and then adhered it to the card base. My tag is a piece of Kraft that I cut out using the tag from the June My Monthly Hero Kit. Some Hemptique Black & White Baker’s Twine is tied through the top and then the tag is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. My images are from one of my favorite sets, the Hero Arts Hipster at Heart Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped them in Intense Black and the used the Coordinating Frame Cuts to cut them out. They are adhered to the card with E-Z Runner and Foam Tape. My greeting is from the Hero Arts Ribbon Banner Stamp & Cut. I heat embossed it in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder onto a piece of Black 110lb and cut it out with the smaller of the two banners. Some Foam Tape holds it to the card and I added a few Enamel Dots for a little interest! I love that Irregular Grid Background, I think that background stamps are very under utilized tools! I hope that you liked my card for this week’s Paper Players Challenge! Thank you so much for visiting! Have an awesome Thursday! 🙂
