Woodgrain Butterfly Thoughts

Good morning everyone! Sunday already, where does the weekend go? I think we need to make it a four day work week, seems a little more balanced… no? Today’s card is another one that with a simple greeting change could be used for so much more. It’s a quick card that doesn’t use too much (sometimes I don’t realize all that I use until I go to upload the pictures to my blog!!) and has a clean and simple design. I used another “new to me” item, the Woodgrain Background Stamp, and I am a huge fan. It’s nice and subtle stamped in Crumb Cake Ink on Crumb Cake Card Stock and mounted to a Not Quite Navy base. I stamped the images in Not Quite Navy Ink from the Flight of the Butterfly Wood Mount Set and punched them out with the Butterfly Punch. The greeting is from the Word Play Set and is also stamped in Not Quite Navy Ink and mounted on Not Quite Navy Card Stock. Sometimes less is more! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

French Foliage CASE

Happy Saturday to you all! I’m off to the Manhattan today to drop off some orders, my daughter is going to take a ride in with me. It will be cold but I love Manhattan. For today’s card I CASED my friend Sandy’s card. I loved the card so much that I got the French Foliage Stamp Set just so I could make it. The card is uses every stamp in the set at least once. I stamped the images in Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke on Very Vanilla Card Stock. The square image on the card is actually Clear Block C stamped on the ink pad and then onto the card. I added some 3/16″ Metallic Brads and 1/4″ Early Espresso Grosgrain Ribbon for embellishment. The greeting is from a great go to set Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Word Window Punch then mounted on a halved Stampin’ Dimensional. Very Vanilla is mounted on Crumb Cake and then mounted on the card base of Early Espresso. This card would work for so many different occasions, thank you, miss you and especially a masculine birthday. I really like the card, it’s one of my favorites of all time. I hope that you have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂

French Blossom Designer Label

Yeah!! It’s Friday!! I hope that you all had a good week and that you are doing some fun stuff for the weekend! For today’s card I used my new (to me) En Français Background Stamp. Background stamps are a great addition to your creative arsenal. They can take the place of embossing or Designer Series Paper. I stamped the En Français in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla Card Stock. Then I used the Blossom Punch to punch out most of the flower from the edge of one side. I mounted it on some Pool Party Card Stock and stamped and image from the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set (Occasions Mini) in Peach Parfait and punched that out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch and placed in the middle of the flower. I used my Big Shot and the Labels Collection Framelits Dies (Occasions Mini) to cut out some more Pool Party and then ran it through again in the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I stamped the greeting from the Elementary Elegance Stamp Set (Sale-A-Bration) in Peach Parfait and punched it out with the Extra Large Oval Punch and placed it in the middle of the frame. I love the beautiful simplicity of the card and it was a nice quick one to make. I hope that you enjoyed it and thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great day!!

Mojo 229

A very good Thursday to you all. One more day and it’s… FRIDAY!! I love the weekend, but who doesn’t?! Today, I give you this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge…

I really like this weeks sketch, it’s perfect for a Designer Series Paper background. I used some of the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper form the Sale-A-Bration Catalog (FREE with any $50 purchase). I really like the collection of papers that they include and I have used every one of them. The images are from the Vintage Vogue Stamp Set and are stamped in Calypso Coral. I cut the flower out and put it on a Stampin’ Dimensional. Then, I ran a piece of Soft Suede through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A piece of Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon was then tied around it and adhered to the background with a combination of Sticky Strip and SNAIL, I like to make sure that it’s going to stay put! I mounted the stamped piece of Very Vanilla on top of that with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. One side has a another Stampin’ Dimensional and the other side SNAIL for even adhesion! I hope that y0u like the card and thanks for taking a look. As always, any comments are greatly appreciated! Paper Players #83

Happy humpday… err… Wednesday! We’re halfway there! For this weeks Paper Players Challenge they ask that you create a masculine card with clean and simple lines…

I decided to use one of my favorite masculine sets, The Open Sea. The set is still available as a write in (123030-Wood Mount, 123032-Clear Mount) and is great for masculine or travel themed cards or scrapbook pages. I stamped the map and the ships log images in Night of Navy Ink on Whisper White Card Stock. Using my Circle Scissor Plus, I cut out the map and then used the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch to punch out a piece of Crumb Cake for the backing. The log was backed with Crumb Cake and adhered to the background. I used the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates and my Big Shot with Night of Navy for that. I stamped the greeting from the Family Reunion Stamp Set and mounted that and the map on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I decided to skip any ribbon or other embellishments and keep it really clean. I love the colors and the images, with a quick greeting change it would work for Father’s Day too. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Paper Players Design Team Call

A good Tuesday morning to everyone. Today’s post is a very important one. The Paper Players are holding an open Design Team Call and I would love to be part of the team. My name is Justin Krieger and I have been paper crafting in some form since I was about 10 years old. Back then I used to make car dashboards out of oaktag. Thankfully, my medium has evolved into stamps and card stock with my card making and 3D projects. The card making seriously kicked into gear a little over a year ago and in August of last year I was introduced to Stampin’ Up! by a wonderful friend of mine, Sandy. I signed up to be a Demonstrator and have loved every minute of it. My favorite part has to be playing along each week with the challenges. It broadens my creativity and widens my horizons. I love seeing all of the other samples and entries each week and finally seeing who is chosen as the picks of the week. I write down my choices and compare notes, and get ready to do it all again. Below are my three projects for your consideration. I hope that you enjoy them and thanks for taking the time to look! Any comments are always appreciated and as always thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

The first 3D window shadow box card, Happy Valentine’s Day!

My Grandmother’s 93rd Birthday Card, one of my favorites!

An engagement card that goes with the frame/box below…

I scanned in the picture from when he actually proposed in Rockefeller Center!

The frame open so the card and “gift” can go inside.

Happy Birthday Louis

Good Monday morning to everyone. I hope that you all had a great weekend. For today’s card I am posting a card that I sent to my good friend Louis. We have been friends for a long time, he’s a great person and I’m happy to call him friend. It’s nice to get to make a masculine birthday card every once in a while. I used some Very Vanilla, Not Quite Navy and Cajun Craze Card Stock. The image is from the Uncharted Territory Stamp Set. It’s a great set for a masculine card with it’s lighthouse and sailboat images. I stamped the sailboat image in Not Quite Navy on Very Vanilla. The background for the card was created using the Square Lattice Texture Impressions Embossing Folder and Not Quite Navy. Finally, the greeting is from Happiest Birthday Wishes. I use the set a lot because it has so many great birthday greetings. I hope that you enjoyed this quick birthday card. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

PPA 129

Good morning and happy Sunday! How is everyones weekend so far? Mine is great! For this weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge we had the following sketch to work with…

I love the clean a simple look of the sketch and I knew which set I was going to use right away. The Bordering On Romance Stamp Set coordinates with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies (both Occasions Mini) perfectly. I have had the set for a while but haven’t really used it that much. I markered the flowers with Riding Hood Red, Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo Stampin’ Write Markers and did the same with the border. I colored in some of them and then used a blender pen and my Classic Stampin’ Pads to color in the larger flowers for a more subtle effect. The flowers were cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies, one of my favorites! I used Lucky Limeade from the card base and Island Indigo under the Label. A piece of Riding Hood Red Pleated Sating Ribbon and some Basic Jewels Pearls finish off the card. I hope you like the card and thanks as always for stopping by. Enjoy your Sunday!

Angie’s Birthday Take 2

Happy Saturday to you all. I hope that you are enjoying your weekend. For today’s card I am posting the card that I sent my friend Angie in Missouri for her birthday. I used Very Vanilla, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder Card Stock. The background, in Very Vanilla, was embossed with the Texturz Plates Backgrounds 1 set in the Big Shot. The flowers are from the Vintage Vogue Stamp Set and were stamped in Wisteria Wonder and cut out with Paper Snips. I used the Owl Builder Punch and the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to punch out the middles for the flowers in Silver Glimmer Paper and mounted them on Stampin’ Dimensionals on Pool Party Card Stock. The greeting is from Loving Thoughts (Occasions Mini) and is also stamped in Wisteria Wonder. I used a piece of Pool Party 3/8 Ruffled Ribbon adhered with Sticky Strip across the middle to finish off the card. Angie loved it and I can’t wait to make another one. Have a great Saturday and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Angie

Good morning everyone. It’s Friday!!!! I loves me some Friday! For today’s card I am posting a birthday card that I made for my friend Kim that she sent to her sister Angie that lives in Kansas City Missouri. I was there in December, with Kim, for the first time and she was a wonderful hostess. I had such a great time so I had to make her an extra special birthday card. This card is a 3D card. If you look at the side view you can see it better. I have made a few of these and they are my favorites. I started with a piece of 12″ x 5 1/2″ Very Vanilla Card Stock. It is scored at 1/2″, 3 1/2″, 4″, 7″, 8″ and 11″. I then cut windows out of the two larger outer panels. Then all you do is decorate and fold it. The best part is that you can fold it flat to mail it. I used the Sweet Cake Stamp Set (Occasions Mini) stamped in Concord Crush and Wild Wasabi. The tiny heart is from the Heart to Heart Punch and the cherries are from the Cupcake Builder Punch. They are both punched out in Cherry Cobbler. The background is Wild Wasabi and I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch with some Concord Crush for a little extra detail. The cute little flowers are from the Birds and Blooms Sizzlits Die 4 Pack that you can still get in the Clearance Rack. The greeting is from the Family Reunion Stamp Set. I love this card and Angie liked it too. Please leave a comment and thanks for stopping by!
