Mojo Monday 403

Yes, there goes another rapidly dwindling weekend. Although I have to say mine was very good. Yesterday was pretty relaxing. I had waffles with Taylor in the morning for breakfast and then went over to my parents’ because Daniel was there. He was in his “What’s that?” phase yesterday, that’s where he just sits and points at things asking, “What’s that?” over and over again. It’s usually the same thing, but he’s cute so it doesn’t matter. I came home and then Daniel came over to visit me, because he likes to do that now. LOL! We played a little bit more “What’s that?” in my house before he looked at me, said bye, grabbed my mother’s hand and left. The rest of the day I just relaxed, it’s nice to have a day like that every once in a while. I hope that you all had a good weekend too.

The good thing about Monday’s is that it’s time for another Mojo Monday challenge! This week’s sketch is provided by the very talented Julee Tilman…

Mojo403

I haven’t done a mostly white card in a really long time, so I thought I’d give that a go today. My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I wanted my flagged piece and my greeting to match, so I coated the end of the flagged piece in Versa-Mark and heat embossed them with Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder. Next up is a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb that is adhered to the card with some Fun Foam and SNAIL. My greeting is from the A Whole Lot of Lovely Stamp Set and is heat embossed in the same Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder on Vellum. I die cut my wreath using the Simon Says Stamp Danville Wreath and adhered it to the card with Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape. To finish off the card, I adhered a few Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine and Sparkle Sequins on the wreath with Crystal Effects. I really like all of the white with the splashes of platinum and I love the way the greeting and the wreath match. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch. Please take a minute to head on over to the blog and see what the other designers have for inspiration for you and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the sketch. Your visits are always greatly appreciated. Have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Waves Ombre Anchor, Card Class and an Extra!

Happy Father’s Day! I will be spending my day with Taylor and my Dad who is one of the most incredible people I will ever know. He is kind and giving, willing to help anyone out at anytime. I can only hope to be as awesome as my dad is and I’m sure that you feel the same way about your fathers! Yesterday was a rainy day here. I went and picked up Michael and we took the scenic route through some towns on the north shore including Cold Spring Harbor to get to Huntington. We had a particular destinations in mind, a little stamp store called The Moon Rose. We met the owner, Diana Kovacs, who also designs her own stamps. It was nice to look around and chat with her, she and Michael knew many of the same people. The store is small and cozy, It’s located behind an art gallery called FotoFoto, there are two tables for classes and plenty of nice bright lighting. Here are some pictures of the store…

Oh look, there is Mr. Trent!

Me & Diana

And here I am with the owner, Diana. You can visit The Moon Rose Facebook page and show her some love by liking it!

After our visit to The Moon Rose we went to SmashBurger for lunch and then came back to my house and just relaxed. Later on we stopped by Michaels to see Taylor and pick up a few things, including some Chinese food for dinner. When we came back to the house Michael remembered that he need to make a card for his dad so he headed into the Stampin’ Galley and made a nice quick card. He is going to do a post about it today and I’ll add a picture of his card as soon as his post goes up!

My card for today is also a nice simple Father’s Day one. I used Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock for the base and adhered a piece of Night of Navy to the front. The main panel is stamped with the Hero Arts with Basic Grey Waves Background Stamp inked in Pool to Navy Hero Arts Ombre Ink. Along the bottom is a piece of Bermuda Bay. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Borders to create my waves along the top. My greeting is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Hero Arts Embossing Powder. I adhered some Fun Foam to the back of the panel and then adhered an MDF Anchor that I picked up from Michaels with Foam Tape. The top of the twine is tucked into a notched out piece of the Fun Foam and adhered with a Glue Dot. The panel is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. I really do like that Waves Background Stamp, especially inked in the Pool to Navy Ombre Ink!

Control Freaks June Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello there and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! The theme for this month’s tour is more goodies from the NEW 2015-2016 Annual Catalog! If you are following along with the tour then you have arrived here from the very clever Debbie Henderson’s blog, she always has great projects doesn’t she?! Today, I have a card and a matching tag using one of my favorite new stamp sets from the new Catalog!

Up first is the card that starts with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I covered the front with a piece of Blackberry Bliss. To create the shaker I started by stamping the Definitely Dahlia Background Stamp in White Staz-On Ink on a piece of Window Sheet. The frame is a piece of Very Vanilla that I cut using my Stampin’ Trimmer. It’s adhered to the Window Sheet with SNAIL. My greeting is from the Butterfly Basics and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Mint Macaroon. I put some Foam Tape around the edges of the back of the frame, doubled up for a little extra height, and then filled it with some clear seed beads and clear sequins. The back and the front are adhered together and then to the card base. My large butterfly is from the Watercolor Wings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Very Vanilla. The second layer is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the I cut it out with the Bold Butterfly Framelits and adhered it to the card with some more Foam Tape. I do love to make a shaker card and the addition of seed beads keeps everything moving!

CF June Tour - Card-WM

For the coordinating tag the butterfly is created in the same way except it is stamped off once. I made the tag myself because I wanted it a little wider than the punch would accommodate. The Definitely Dahlia Background Stamp is stamped on the tag with Blackberry Bliss and the greeting is again heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I adhered the butterfly to the tag and tied a piece of Gold Baker’s Twine through the top. It hung on a bottle of MacMurray Ranch Pinot Grigio. A nice quick way to dress up a bottle of wine!

CF June Tour - Tag-WM

I hope that you enjoyed my card and tag for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour and your look at some more of the new products from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog! Thank you very much for stopping by! Now to continue on with the tour I’ll send you off to my very talented friend Melissa Davies! Have a wonderful day everyone! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 256

Another fun filled day! I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep these past few days and I was feeling it a little yesterday but I managed to perk up and make it through! Work was a little busy but I got a call from my dad that he had found a car that he wanted me to go and look at so I snuck out of work at 3:00. We went to the dealer and I test drove a 2004 Saab 9-3 Arc Convertible. I pick it up next Thursday! Yay! After that I picked up Taylor and Michael and we headed over to Scrap-A-Latte for card class. The Thursday class is a nice laid back one and we always have a good time. Michael took care of the social media posts and talked about his upcoming classes. It ended around 9:30 and I dropped him off and then came home and made today’s card. Like I said another fun filled day!

Here is a little group shot of us from class last night! A few people had to leave early but we’ll get them next time!

SAL Card Class 6-2015

No on to the post. The card that I made is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 256

I kept very true to the sketch and also kept the card really simple. My base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Triple Banner Punch to flag the ends of two pieces of Basic Black and a piece of Tip Top Taupe. The black ones are adhered with SNAIL and the taupe one with SNAIL and Fun Foam. My greeting is from the Bravo! Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb. I used a combination of SNAIL and Fun Foam to adhere it to the card. Finally, three clear sequins that Michael brought me from Brasil are adhere with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium next to the greeting. I really do like the simplicity of the card, we need them every so often right?! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy Friday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 191

What a nice day I had yesterday! I woke up at 4:00am and left the house by 5:00 to go and pick up Michael. His flight landed early and he was out by 6:45. We stopped at the diner fro breakfast and then headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee. He had brought some chip board and MDF from Brasil for her to sell in the store so while he set that up I did my cutting for class tonight. We were at the store for most of the day. After the store we stopped by my house to get his luggage and visited with Taylor for a bit. Then we headed over to the pizza place to meet Sue and her husband for dinner. What a nice way to spend a day off from work!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 191

A super simple sketch that leaves a lot open for interpretation. I wanted something simple and elegant, you’ll have to let me know if I was successful! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I embossed the Definitely Dahlia Background Stamp on a piece of Basic Black with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My greeting is from the Happy Birthday Everyone Host Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I wrapped it around the back and then adhered it to piece of “Vintage” Brushed Silver. That is then adhered to the card base with SNAIL and Fun Foam. Three Simon Says Stamp Sparkle and Shine Sequins complete the card. I love the font in the sentient and that Dahlia stamp is great! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you of sharing a part of my day with me, I’m happy that you stopped by! Enjoy your Thursday! 🙂

Paper Players 249

Wednesday and I’m off from work today! Yippee! My post is also extra early because I’m going to retrieve Mr. Trent from the airport! He lands at 6:34, can’t wait to see him! Yesterday it tried to rain all day and was finally successful around 3:00. It only rained for a bit and then some more around 5:30 and then the sun finally came out. I had a nice evening. Daniel was at my parent’s so I got to spend some time with him. Here he is in all of his cuteness!

Daniel Thomas Hat

With his little Thomas hat on and that adorable little smile! Love that little boy! The rest of the evening was spent crafting and straightening up. Taylor and I also ran to Michaels to get a few things for class on Thursday and Friday. Another pretty good day!

My post for today is for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy…

Paper Players #249

Strangely enough this card started out with the two straight pins! The card base is Neenah Solar White Card Stock that I cut to 3 1/2″ wide. The front is covered in a piece of Basic Black and the background is a piece of paper from the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. For the large heart I used the Hearts Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Pool Party and then cut a negative with one of the smaller ones. The flower and border are from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set, the border is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on the DSP and the flowers in Pool Party on the heart. The hearts is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. Next up is the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Filmstrip Die that is cut from Island Indigo and adhered to the card with two thin strips of Foam Tape in the middle. I used the Hearts Framelits again to cut out a piece of red felt and adhered that to the filmstrip with Multi-Purpose Glue. My thanks is from the Greetings Thinlits and is cut from Real Red and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice Stampin’ Emboss Powder then adhered with more Multi-Purpose Glue. Two hearts are punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack from Real Red and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. I used the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen and then some Glossy Accents over that to give them some nice sparkle and shine. Three Hazel & Ruby The Makery Think Pink Sequins are adhered to the card with more Crystal Effects. Finally, the two straight pins that started it all are inserted into the felt heart. A fun eclectic collage card! My favorite pieces are the two punched hearts! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy! Thank you so much for stopping by today! I always appreciate it. Have a amazingly awesome Wednesday! 🙂

Mojo Monday 402!!

An extra happy Monday to you! I had a lovely day yesterday! Heather came by and picked my up at 10:30AM and we headed over to the Roosevelt Field Mall. She wanted to go to Charlotte Russe and I wanted to go to Aeropostale. Heather ended up getting three dresses and I got a pair of pants and a button down casual shirt. We wandered around a little and then headed over to the food court for some lunch. We decided on this place called the Melt Shop, we both had BLT’s and Tater Tots with Parmesan and Rosemary and it was delicious! On the way back from the mall we stopped at Century 21 where I got some more Ben Sherman shoes. One more stop at the Broadway Mall so Heather could pick up another dress and I got some shorts and sunglasses from the Aeropostale there and flip flops and a t-shirt from Old Navy. Quite a productive shopping day! The rest of the day was spent straightening up and crafting, the perfect Sunday! I hope that your Sunday was just as good!

Today is my first post for the Design Team over at Mojo Monday!! How cool is that?!?! Here is this week’s sketch from the very talented Julee Tilman…

Mojo402

I’m always quite inspired by the Mojo sketches and this one is no different! My card starts off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, I covered the front with a piece of Very Vanilla. Another piece of Very Vanilla is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles Dies. I then used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Dies to cut out the negative space on the right along with the other circles. Before I adhered the stitched panel to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam I placed a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack so it would sit under the negative. The next largest circle is also a piece of the same DSP. On top of that going across are a piece of Mint Macaroon and Calypso Coral with the ends cut off at an angle. My greeting is from the A Whole Lot of Lovely Host Stamp Set and is stamped in Hero Arts Light to Dark Peach Ombre Ink on Very Vanilla. A piece of Fun Foam and some SNAIL adhere it to the card and it’s done! I really do love the patterns in the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack and that Ombre ink is just so cool! I really hope that you enjoyed my first card for Mojo Monday as a member of the Design Team! Now go on over to the Mojo Monday blog and see what the rest of the talented designers have created to inspire you and play along by entering your card in the gallery! Thank you so much for visiting with me today! I wish you a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 248… Oops!

What a nice day I had yesterday! I did my post when I got up and all of the rest of the social media goodness that goes along with it and then I got in the car, put the top down and headed over to see Renee at Scrap-A-Latte! It’s funny how driving with top down in the car makes me so happy! I had an everything bagel for breakfast and chatted with the ladies that were there for the weekend crop while I selected my papers for this week’s card class. Around 3:00 I headed home and had a nice surprise, Daniel and my brother were at my parents! I got to spend some time with the little man and then Anthony text me and asked if I wanted to go with him and Bill to BestBuy to get a new phone. Bill’s old phone was about 5 years old and now he has a nice shiny new iPhone 6! After, we headed to SmashBurger for a little dinner and then came back to my house and hung out in the backyard. Before they headed home we did a quick Target trip! I know, I go there way too much! When I got back to the house Taylor was here and I finished up some crafty stuff. A very relaxing day indeed!

Here are Anthony and I acting a fool in Michaels!

Anthony & I Michaels Swords

That was taken with Bill’s spiffy new iPhone! LOL!

Today I have my card that I forgot to post for last week’s Paper Players masculine theme…

Paper Players #248

Hence the oops in the title! I made the card on Tuesday I think but just got a little behind with everything! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I covered the front with a piece of Night of Navy. My background is Neenah Solar White 80lb and I stamped it with the anchors from the Simon Says Stamp Nautical Borders Photopolymer Stamp Set in Pool Party. Before I adhered it to the card I heat embossed the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Naughty Nautical Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Vellum. It’s backed with a piece of Night of Navy and adhered around the back with Fast Fuze Adhesive. The ship is from the same set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut it out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Dies. The waves are from the Nautical Borders Set and are stamped in Pool Party. I also cut out a piece of Night of Navy and Fun Foam with the same dies for the frame. Another piece of Fun Foam and SNAIL Adheres it to the card. A masculine card with lots of blue! I hope that you enjoyed my card for last week’s Paper Players Masculine Theme challenge! Now I’m all caught up! LOL! Thank you for stopping by and have a fantastic Sunday! 🙂

Mojo 401, Freshly Made Sketches 190 & Pals Paper Arts 255

Today is catch up day for me! It was quite hot here yesterday and muggy again but that just means more convertible time! Work was busy and after I had dinner I came home and started working on a bunch of projects because I got way behind this week! Around 8:00 I ran over to see my friend Sandy for a bit. She had ordered some new things from My Favorite Things and there was one little goodie in there for me! I got back from Sandy’s around 10:00 and finished up my projects. This morning I’m going to head over to Scrap-A-Latte and pick up the stamps for this month’s card class which is on Thursday and Friday! Yikes! I think that Taylor is going to take a ride with me provided that she is up! Today’s post is lengthy, three cards for you this Saturday morning!

Up first is my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch. Still can’t believe that I’m on the Design Team now!! Here it is…

Mojo401

This card has lots of new goodies from the new 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog! The card starts with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, I covered the entire front with a piece of Very Vanilla. My background is also a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On the right is a piece of Calypso Coral with a piece of “Vintage” Old Olive 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon. I adhered it to a piece of Fun Foam and then to the card with SNAIL. The middle panel is a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper 6X6 Stack backed with some Basic Black, it’s adhered to the card with SNAIL and tucked under ribbon. My greeting and butterfly are from the Watercolor Wings Photopolymer Stamp Set. The greeting is heat embossed in “Vintage” Calypso Coral Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum, the bottom is flagged with the top folded over and tucked behind the center panel. For the butterfly I stamped him in Mint Macaroon and Pacific Point on Very Vanilla and cut him out with the Butterfly Thinlits. The body is a piece of Hemptique Black Hemp Twine, I folded a piece in half and the wound some more around it securing with some Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. A few Basic Jewels Pearls are adhered to the butterfly and some Pretty Pink Posh Tangerine and Hazel & Ruby The Makery Green with Envy Sequins are scattered about. I love that Brick Wall Embossing Folder and the DSP is great!

Mojo 401-WM

Next up is my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 190

I decided to turn it on it’s side and make a wedding card, nope, still not done with them! The card base for this one is the same Neenah 110lb. On the front is a piece of Basic Gray that I embossed with the We R Memory Keepers Geometric Next Level Embossing Folder. Across the bottom is a piece of Blushing Bride that I heat embossed the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Congratulations Photopolymer Stamp Set in Ranger Liquid Platinum. Some SNAIL and Fun Foam adheres it to the card. The wreath and branches are from the Simon Says Stamp Lovely Spring Photopolymer Stamp Set and are heat embossed in more Platinum Embossing Powder on Vellum and cut out with the matching Simon Says Stamp Lovely Day Dies. Some Ranger Multi-Matte Medium and Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape adhere them to the card. Around the greeting is a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear and Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine & Sparkle Sequins. I’m really loving the new Next Level embossing folders and the Platinum Embossing powder is definitely one of my favorites!

FMS 190-WM

Today’s final card is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 255

I just had to play with the Brick Wall Embossing Folder again! The card base for this is the same as the first two, this one is covered in a piece of Marina Mist. The background is a piece of Sahara Sand that is embossed with that Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It’s adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. My greeting is from the Whole Lot of Lovely Host Stamp Set and is heat embossed in “Vintage” Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Marina Mist. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Dies to cut it out. The Flourish is the new My Favorite Things Pierced Fancy Flourish Die and is cut from Early Espresso and adhered to the card with Ranger Multi-Medium Matte. I used some Fun Foam and SNAIL to adhere the greeting to the card. I thought it needed a little something more so I punched out some flowers with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack from Marina Mist and used more Multi-Matte Medium to adhere them to the card. Finally some Basic Jewels Pearls are adhered to the centers of all of the flowers including the ones on the greeting. Like I said, I love the Brick Wall Folder!

PPA 255-WM

Phew! An there you have my lengthy catch up post for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch, Freshly Made Sketches and Pals Paper Arts color challenge! I hope that you enjoyed all of the cards! I thank you, as always, for spending some of your Saturday with me! Have a simply lovely day! 🙂

Fab Friday 66

Oh yes, it’s my favorite day of the week as you know! Yesterday was hot and muggy here, we made it up to 90, not that I’m complaining, better than snow any day! My friend Robin and I had Panera for lunch, one of my faves! After dinner I came home and Skyped with Andrea and worked on my card for today. My friend Sue stopped by around 7:45 and we chatted and I showed her some of my recent projects and she made a list of things that she wanted to get! It really would be nice if I got commission on the other stuff that I use! LOL! Tonight I have a lot of projects to get through and this weekend is going to be a busy one. I have to make the cards for next week’s card class at Scrap-A-Latte but I get to go and see Renee so that’s always good! What’s on for you this weekend?

Today I’m over on the Fab Friday blog for our sketch challenge…

Fab Fri 66 6-12-2015

I had the idea in my head for this card from the first time that I saw the sketch, I just had to wait for my new goodies to arrive before I could make it! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I adhered a strip of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack to the base and on the right side is a piece of Washi Tape from Little B. The frame is from a pack from Heidi Swapp and is adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue. My dragonfly and greeting are from the Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set. The dragonfly is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and then again in Versa-Mark on Vellum. I sprinkled some Gold Stampin’ Glitter on and then covered it in Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it. The body and wings are cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered together with a Bling Glue Dot. Some Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape hold him to the card. The friend is heat embossed in Gold and Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits. A little SNAIL on the ends hold it to the frame. Finally, a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Gold and Charcoal Sequins finish the card. I love the dragonfly, especially with the vellum wings! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge! Be sure and visit the blog to see the rest of the design team’s projects and enter your card in the gallery too! Thank you for spending a little of your Friday with me, have fabulous day! 🙂
