I’m still not used to the fact that it’s getting darker earlier. It also doesn’t help that it’s dark when I wake up too! The weather here has been pretty nice, not too cold and sunny, maybe we can keep this for the whole winter?! Work was pretty standard yesterday and when I got home I made my card and then planned my much needed cleanup of the craft area. I have been pretty busy and most of my organization has gone to the wayside. I need to get on top of it before I start forgetting that I have stuff! Do you ever find yourself doing that? You are out looking at stuff and think “oh, I really like that, I think I’ll get it” only to get home and find that you already have it?!?! I guess one good thing about that is if you bought it twice you must have really liked it! LOL!

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!:

Weekly Deals 11-11-2014 SM

My card for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo371

I wanted to use some of the stuff that I have gotten recently before I forget where I put it, that’s where the wood comes in! My card starts with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake. I used a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack backed with some Early Espresso for my first panel. The second one is a piece of wood sheet that I picked up on my travels on Saturday, it’s also backed with Early Espresso because it’s very thin and it makes the grain stand out a bit more. Across the lower half is a piece of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon tucked behind the Crumb Cake. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Vellum and stamped the JOY from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it in Cherry Cobbler. The tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green on Crumb Cake and punched out with the Tree Punch. The balls are heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and I used a Sakura Gelly Roll Gold Pen to go over the lines. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the tree adhere it and the Vellum circle to the card. We all know that I love a little woodgrain so the wood sheet is definitely my favorite part of the card! The other great thing about them is that are thin enough to use with punches or Framelits! Ahhh… the possibilities! I hope that you enjoyed my Holiday card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I love having you stop by to share in my days and I wish you all a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 221

I had such nice weekend and it seemed like a long weekend too! Yesterday I was in Manhattan most of the day visiting friends. I even got to have dinner at the diner with Kim. It was a relatively nice day too weather wise. On my way home I stopped at Target to pick up a few things and then crafted for a bit before I decided that I needed to try and catch up on some of my sleep. How was your weekend? What were you guys up to?

It’s Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my friend Sandy has given us a color challenge…

Paper Players #221

I did see a Holiday card when I looked at them but my friend Danielle needs a congratulations card for her mom who just got a promotion at work so I went with some flowers. The card base for today’s card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Hexagon Hive Thinlit to cut out a piece of Very Vanilla for my background and adhered it to the base with 2-Way Glue. All of the stamps are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. The flowers are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the leaves in Mossy Meadow. I cut them all out with the Flower Fair Framelits including the flower middles. My leaves are adhered to the card with SNAIL and the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used some more 2-Way Glue to adhere the centers and brushed them with some Wink of Stella Glimmer Pen to give them a little sparkle (which you can’t see in the picture). The greeting is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and cut out with the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. I used my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker around the edge to give it a little definition and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. A nice simple card to let someone know how great you think they are. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy. I appreciate your stopping by today and I wish you all a great start to your week! 🙂

Silver Falling Snow

Hello my peeps! What’s going on by you? I had a very nice day in Connecticut yesterday with my friends Michael and Sue. We went up to the garage sale at Papercraft Clubhouse in Westbrook. So many stamps, paper and accessories to dig though and we all found some treasures. There was even a table with all Stampin’ Up! sets and accessories. We spent quite a while there and even got to speak to the owner Tracie who was very sweet. I took a picture of this cool purple house which turned out to be another stamp store called Beautiful Impressions Too.

Beautiful Impressions Yoo

On the way home we stopped at Hobby Lobby and JoAnn’s. I got some more goodies (not that I needed any more! LOL) and so did everyone else! All in all a very fun day indeed!

Today I have a card that was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest. The card begins with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Letterpress Winter Photopolymer Stamp Set in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. For my panel I stamped the tree branch from the “Vintage” Take Care Stamp Set in Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand randomly on a piece of Naturals White Card Stock. My falling snow is created using a stencil from Simon Says Stamp and some embossing paste. I mounted the panel to a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock (at the suggestion of Michael) and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. The two snowflakes are from the Snowflake Card Thinlit and are cut out from Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the simplicity of the card and the subtle falling snow created with the embossing paste. I hope that enjoyed my wintry Holiday card for today. Thank you for sharing in my days and I hope that you all have a great Sunday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 226

Happy Saturday peeps! I had a nice day yesterday. Danielle and I had an errand to run for work and were out for about three hours. We also had to stop at Panera to get some gift cards so we had lunch there. I had the Autumn Squash soup and it was delicious! I also had a nice road trip last night to New Jersey. Michael had a class to teach at Paper Anthology and had taken the train so I offered to go out and get him. The traffic was pretty heavy on the way there but it wasn’t a bad ride. The store was really neat, it was in an old house and had a great selection of all different kinds of goodies. If you ever find yourself in Kenvil New Jersey definitely stop by. You can check out their web site HERE and visit Michael’s blog HERE. This morning I’m off to Connecticut with Michael and Sue for a little visit to two stamp stores. And yes, I’m typing this on the car! LOL!

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 226

Very fall appropriate colors, so I went with Christmas! LOL! The card base is Cajun Craze and the background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Yes, I can’t get enough of woodgrain anything! I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder to create my tag from a piece of Soft Suede. A piece of Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape is wrapped around the bottom of the tag and a piece of Mossy Meadow, Striped Satin Ribbon tied with some Linen Thread goes through the top. My tree is from the Festival of Tress Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Tree Punch. The greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also stamped in Mossy Meadow and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. My tree and the greeting are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and so is the tag to the card. A nice clean somewhat traditional Holiday card that would be pretty easy to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thanks for coming along on my road trip this morning too and have a wonderful Saturday! 🙂

Fab Friday 54

Oh yes, it’s Friday peeps!! It was a gloomy rainy day yesterday but it’s supposed to be nice, if not a little chilly for the weekend. I’m looking forward to this weekend! Tonight I have to run to New Jersey and tomorrow I’m going to another rubber stamp show in Connecticut with Michael and Sue. That should be fun, we’re going to stop at another Hobby Lobby too! Heather is going back to finalize the apartment tonight, she’s quite excited about that! Everything is set up to be a great weekend! What do you have planned?

Today I’m over on the Fab Friday blog for our color challenge…

Fab Fri 54 11-07-2014

I sort of had an idea as to what I was going to do, I knew that I wanted to watercolor, and that I wanted some woodgrain. The base of today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock, I adhered a piece of Watercolor Paper to the entire front. My background is a piece of Cajun Craze, I used a Tim Holtz stencil, Woodgrain, along with Embossing Paste to create it. All of the images are from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set and are all stamped on Watercolor Paper. The flowers are stamped in Blackberry Bliss, the leaves in Crushed Curry, the woodgrain flag in Cajun Craze and the greeting in Blackberry Bliss. I used a brush and some water to pull color from the stamped area into the rest of the image. They are all cut out with my Paper Snips, the leaves are adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue and everything else with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Banners Framelits to cut out the woodgrain flag and the greeting is punched out with the Label Bracket Punch. I edged the greeting with my Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker to give it a little definition. I love the texture of the embossing past woodgrain background and the stamp set is perfect for using this type of watercolor technique. I really hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday color challenge and will give the watercoloring a try. Make sure and stop by the BLOG to see what the other design team members have done and don’t forget to make something and upload it to the gallery for us to see. Thank you so much for visiting me today. Have an amazing Friday my friends! 🙂

Mojo 370

A very good Thursday to you! It was overcast all day yesterday and is raining here this morning, it’s to rain all day. It’s supposed to be nice at the weekend so it’s all good right?! I went with Heather to see another apartment last night and she thinks that this is the one. She is going to go back on Friday with her mom to get another opinion and hopefully that will go well. It’s not an easy task to find an apartment in these parts! Ahh… and then the move, not my favorite for sure! At least she will be all settled before the holidays and that’s a good thing.

Today my post is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo370

I knew what I was going to do for the entire card except for one little piece. The card base for today is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Mossy Meadow. A strip of paper from the Trim the Tree DSP Stack goes across the middle and some Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker’s Twine is adhered around the back across the top before the base is mounted to the card. All of the images and greeting are from the Ornamental Pine Stamp Set, the pine needles are stamped in Mossy Meadow on Whisper White and adhered to the card. I stamped the pinecones in Soft Suede and cut them out with my Paper Snips, a little Dazzling Details is added before adhering them with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I used a pice of Soft Suede and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The bottom is flagged and that too is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Another piece of Soft Suede is punched with the Scallop Edge Punch and tucked under the stamped panel. Finally, the joy is from the Snowflake Card Thinlits and is cut from a piece of Cherry Cobbler and also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. That was the one thing that I couldn’t figure out what I was I was going to put there! I really do love Mossy Meadow for Holiday cards, especially when it’s paired with Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I appreciate you taking some time to come and see me and I wish you a happy Thursday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 117

Here we are winding our way into Wednesday already. My week has been pretty good so far. Last night I went with Heather to look at an apartment. It had, as the realtor stated, a very unique bathroom. The toilet and sink were in one room and the shower was on the other side in another room. The only problem was that you had to walk through the kitchen to get to the shower! That’s not unique that just odd! After, we headed over to Brian and Kim’s for Taco night. Michael joined us and we played some Cards Against Humanity. Neither Heather nor Michael had played before and they really enjoyed the game! It’s always nice to just sit there and laugh with friends! What a nice way to end the day! 🙂

If it’s Wednesday then that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Here is your inspiration for this week…

PCCCS117 Sketch 11-05-2014

I was in the mood for some Bermuda Bay, I haven’t used that color in a long time and it’s one of my favorites! Today’s card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Bermuda Bay that is embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The panel on the left is piece of paper from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper pack backed with some Whisper White. Across the middle of the card is a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and a piece of Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon. My stars are from the Many Merry Stars Photopolymer Stamp Set from the Holiday Supplement Catalog, the larger one is stamped in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White and the smaller on is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Bermuda Bay. They are both cut out with the Stars Framelits Dies and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I choose the greeting from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set and stamped it in Bermuda Bay on a piece of Whisper White, flagged the right, and tucked it under the right side of the panel. Three little crystal sequins adhered above the glimmer paper complete the card. I think that piece of DSP from the Motley Monsters DSP pack is my favorite, just goes to show that there is much more than just Halloween paper in there! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see what the other designers have for you for inspiration and let’s see your take, upload your card to the gallery. Thanks very much for taking a little time to come by and see me! Enjoy your Wednesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 109

Hey there! How was your Monday? Mine was not too bad. I got to do my 2 1/2 hour monthly errand yesterday, you know how I love that! I had a Stamp-A-Stack at Sandy’s house last night. I love to do them, gets 16 of my Christmas cards made! Plus we always have a good laugh! It’s getting chillier here and darker earlier, not my favorite time of year. I heard from some of you that you got some snow over the weekend! Yikes! It’s way too early for that!! If you could keep that sort of weather to the north or west of me I would greatly appreciate it!

It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for this week’s deals from Stampin’ Up!

Weekly Deals 11-04-2014 2

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our “A Thanks for Anything” challenge. I send out a lot of Thank You’s and sometimes you need a card that is easy to make but still has some impact to it, that’s what I tried to accomplish with my card. The base is Basic Black Card Stock. I stamped the large Thank You from the Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black and then offset the image slightly and heat embossed it in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Whisper White. The sequins are from the Hello Darling Stamp Set and are also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I backed the panel with a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock before adhering it to the base. I like the shadow effect and the gold and black together. I hope that you agree that I accomplished my goal for a simple card with some impact! Take a few minutes to stop by the SUO Challenges blog and see what the other design team members have done. Thanks for visiting with me and enjoy your Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 220

Happy Monday! I had a wonderful weekend! Saturday I went to Trenton, NJ for a rubber stamp show. It’s the first one that I have been to and it was pretty neat to see all of the different companies that I have never heard of before. I went with Michael and his best friend Sue and her sister Arlene. We met up with their friends Gail and Debbie and wandered around for a few hours. After that we went to Hobby Lobby. I don’t know if any of you have ever been to a Hobby Lobby but they pretty much have anything that you can think of and I mean anything. I picked up a few things that I have been eyeing for a while and even found some stuff that was on clearance that I wanted. We stopped at Red Robin for dinner and then headed home. Here are a few pictures, the first one is Michael and I and the next one is all of us.

Michale & I NJ

The Gang RSS NJ

Yesterday I was in Manhattan seeing some friends. Michael had to work at the Ink Pad so we drove in together. I went to see Penny and Joe over on the West Side for a bit. I had forgotten that the NYC Marathon was yesterday so when I finished up at their house I tried to get a cab to go back over to the East side. That took about 15 minutes! I did finally get over and stopped to see Jim and Isabella for a bit and then headed down to the Ink Pad to wait for Michael to get off of work. We took the subway back to his car in Astoria and stopped and picked up some Chinese for dinner on the way home. Taylor stopped by for a bit and and we just listened to some music and relaxed. All in all one of the best weekends I have had in a very long time! 🙂

Now on to today’s post. If it’s Monday then it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my friend LeAnne has given us a vintage challenge…

Paper Players #220

Since I have started stamping I have been given lots of things by my friends that they see when they are out from other companies besides Stampin’ Up! Last week I was playing with some of that stuff and came up with this card and I really love the way it turned out and it fit with the challenge so I decided I would share it with you. The card base is Neenah Solar White, I needed a thick base for my background. Speaking of the background it’s a piece of Watercolor Paper and I heat embossed the “Vintage” French Script Background Stamp in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Next I used a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water to wet the whole sheet of paper. Two more Stampin’ Spritzers, one filled with my Bermuda Bay, Champagne Shimmer Mist and alcohol concoction and the other with Early Espresso and alcohol are spritzed across the background. Some Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distress Paint mixed with water is then added. The image and greeting are from a Tim Holtz set that has matching framelits called French Flight. I used more of the Distress Paint to stamp the Eiffel Tower and the “Paris” is stamped in Soft Suede on Kraft Craft Card Stock and sponged around the edges. A piece of burlap is spritzed with more Early Espresso and a piece of the Ideology Filmstrip Ribbon is stapled to the background with my Handheld Stapler. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the tower and word and a few mocha sequins scattered across the background complete the card. I had a lot of fun making the card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge from LeAnne. I hope that you enjoyed it. As always, thank you for stopping by to share some of your time with me. Have a great Monday! 🙂

Creation Station – Seasonally Scattered

creation station header

It was a rainy and dreary day here yesterday and I was in Trenton, New Jersey for a rubber stamp show with some friends, more on that tomorrow. Today it’s time for another Creation Station Blog Tour! This time we are featuring the Seasonally Scattered Stamp Set and Gift Card Holders. If you are following along on the tour you have arrived here from Jennifer Frost’s Blog. Always a treat to see what she has! I have two projects for today’s tour, a card and a gift card holder so lets get to them.

My card features the Seasonally Scattered Stamp Set and two of my favorite things, Vellum and Heat Embossing! The base of the card is Pumpkin Pie Card Stock and my background is a piece of Old Olive that I embossed one of the stamps from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set in Crushed Curry Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch and some Vellum to create my three tags. My Grid Paper helps to line up the tags and image from the Seasonally Scattered Stamp Set. I stamped the two outside ones first and then the center one with Versa-Mark. The two outside ones are heat embossed in Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the inside one in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some strategically placed 2-Way Glue adheres them to the card. Love the vellum and the way it lets the swirl peek through form the back!

The gift card holder is next. I used the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlit to cut out a piece of Kraft Card Stock for the card and Mossy Meadow for the ties. A few pieces of Sticky Strip and the holder is assembled. The three tress are from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Mossy Meadow on Mossy Meadow. The garland is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My greeting is from the Christmas Tagables Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. A piece of Gold Sequin Trim is tucked under it and adhered to the holder with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I used a Mini Brad to secure the ties in place and some Linen Thread holds it closed. I love the rustic feel of the Kraft with the Mossy Meadow and the gold just gives it enough shine!
