SUO Challenges 99

That was a pretty good Monday as far as Monday’s go! Work was ok, I got stuff done and wasn’t crazy busy. I went over to Kim’s after work and got to see the munchkins! Those two little girls are just the cutest! We had Tacos and wine and my friend Dave was there too. I haven’t seen him in a while so it was nice to catch up. My friend Danielle came back to work yesterday too! I was so glad to have her back! She is so sweet, I collect the Starbucks You are Here mugs and she remembered and brought me one back! What a nice surprise! Thoughtful friends are awesome aren’t they?! She is also going to help me paint the new apartment on Wednesday which goes above and beyond. I don’t know why but I hate painting! It will be fun with Danielle so I may not mind it as much! 🙂

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Summer challenge. All we ask is for something Summer related, ocean, beach or patriotic. I saw this card in the catalog when I first looked through it. I love the card so I had to CASE it! The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock and I used a Stampin’ Spritzer with some Pear Pizzaz Re-Inker to spritz it. The main panel is a piece of Watercolor Paper. I spritzed it with some more Pear Pizzaz and Chocolate Chip Re-Inker before stamping my images. All of the images are from the By the Tide Stamp Set. I stamped the coral twice in Crushed Curry, the script and the seal are stamped in Pear Pizzaz. I then went over it with my Aqua Painter to give it the washed out look. The seahorse is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with my Paper Snips. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. Across the card is a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I altered a little and adhered with some Fast Fuse Adhesive. The strips of Island Indigo and Pear Pizzaz are crumpled and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. The stampin Distress Tool is used around the edges for that worn look. Finally, I wrapped some Linen Thread around the panel and tied a Basic Metal Button in it. I think I liked the card so much because its a little messy and I never use my Stampin’ Distress Tool so it was a good excuse to try it out! I like to step outside my comfort zone, the crumpling of the paper was new for me too! LOL! That said I hope that you enjoyed my take on the card from the catalog for the SUO Challenges Summer Themed challenge. Stop by the blog to see the other deign team’s projects. I really do appreciate you coming by too see me and I hope that you enjoy your day! 🙂

Paper Players 200 & Pics!

Well, it was another gorgeous weekend here on Long Island! Sunny but not too hot just how I like it! I got lots of crafty things done yesterday and spent some time outside enjoying the weather. It was just too nice to be indoors all day! I hope the weather was nice by you and you got some outside time in too! Did you all enjoy the Creation Station Blog Tour yesterday? I hope that you got some inspiration for your new catalog goodies! I really need to order some of those Gift Card Holders, they are neat! Today I have some pictures for you! I did manage to take a few pictures while I was in Manhattan on Saturday. They are not very exciting but a little glimpse of what I get to see. The first one is of the elevated pedestrian walkway at Hunter College…

Hunter College

Pretty cool how it just goes across Lexington Avenue! The next one is of Bloomingdale’s which I’m sure you have all heard of…

Bloomingdales

Another Lexington Avenue Staple! It’s funny because before I went into the store I pictured it much bigger than it is. Next I took a really cool picture from under the Citibank Building…

Citibank Building

It’s one of my favorite buildings in the city. It’s on stilts! If you Google it you can see a lot of neat information about the construction. They had some problems in the beginning. I also like how the sun is reflecting off of the building next to it!

Remember the Blog Candy winner Karen? Well, she was so sweet and sent me a thank you card and a little gift! I love them both and think they are amazing! Here is the card and cute notepad using the Stamp Set A Happy Hooray that she won!

Karen TY Card

Karen Notepad

Thank you so much Karen! What a nice surprise to get in the mail! 🙂

Now we are on to today’s post. It’s for the Paper Players 200 challenge! Wow! I have been participating since challenge #78 and haven’t missed one! The ladies have chosen their favorites from the past 200 and you can then pick one of them! I went with the one that Nance choose…

Paper Players #200

I picked it because it was before I started playing! Yes, I used the Star Framelits again! LOL! I just can’t get enough of them! My card base is Basic Black Card Stock. The background is some Silver Foil Sheet that I embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two stars are from the Be the Star Stamp Set and are stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Stars Framelits. I cut out a piece of Vellum Card Stock with the Circles Collection Framelits to back the star and make it stand out a bit more. My greeting is form the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Project Life Card & Labels Framelits. I punched out another piece of Silver Foil Sheet with the star from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack to go over the star on the greeting. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really am loving the Star Framelits (promise I’ll put them aside for bit! LOL!) and the Bermuda Bay with the silver and black is a great combination, don’t you think?! I really hope that you enjoy my card for this week’s Paper Players 200 anniversary sketch challenge. Thank you very much for coming by to see what I’ve been up to and I hope you have a great Monday! 🙂

Creation Station Blog Tour – Weddings

creation station header

It’s Sunday already! But it’s a good Sunday because it’s time for another Creation Station Blog Tour! It’s our fourth one already, can you believe it?! I’m hoping that you have been along for the previous tours and if so welcome back! If this is your first time with us I think you will enjoy your little visit! If you are following the Tour you have arrived here from the very clever Jennifer Downey. Always fun projects! This time I focused on the Weddings part of our list. I didn’t take as many pictures as usual because the card and tag use a lot of the same elements. Off we go!

My first project is a card. The finished size is 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ so the leaves can hang over and it still fits in a standard envelope. I used colors that I thought would be nice for a summer evening wedding. The card starts off with a base of Hello Honey Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Starburst Framelits to cut out a piece of Hello Honey to serve as true backing for my flower. Before we get to the flowers I used the Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die to cut out some Sahara Sand for the leaves.

Creation Station Card-Tag Leaves

The flower is stamped twice in Blackberry Bliss using the Bloom for You Stamp. I punched them out with the Fun Flower Punch and curled the petals on the top one. I stamped it again in Hello Honey and used the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch to punch out the middle and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Creation Station Card-Tag 1Creation Station Card-Tag 2

My greeting is from the Lovely Labels Stamp Set, I stamped it in Blackberry Bliss and punched it out with the Artisan Label Punch. A piece of Hello Honey is flagged and adhered behind it. A fun very non-traditional wedding card using some of our great new In-Colors!

Creation Station Card

Next up is my tag. It uses most of the same elements as the card. The tag is created using the Angled Tag Topper Punch and Hello Honey Card Stock. Another piece of the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack makes the background.

Creation Station Card-Tag 3

For the tag I used a greeting from the A Round Array Stamp Set, stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. The Bitty Banners Framelits make the piece being the greeting and I tied the tag to one of our Mini Muslin Bags. I think this would make a great little favor for any occasion!

Creation Station Tag 1

Creation Station Tag 2

Last I have a little bonus project. I thought that a pillow box would make a nice favor too. I used the “Vintage” Pillow Box Bigz Die cut out a piece of Hello Honey. The band around the middle is more of the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the same greeting as on the card but my flowers are from the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set and are stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. A cute fun favor that wouldn’t be too difficult to make a bunch of!

I hope that you enjoyed and got some inspiration from my projects for the Creation Station Blog Tour. Next up is the talented Jen Arkfeld, she always has some really fun projects so enjoy! Thank you very much for coming by to see my projects, I hope that you enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂

Gold Tangelo Star Feathers

So how was your Friday? Mine was pretty good. It was a little rainy during the day and quite muggy but I managed to have a very productive but not overly busy day at work. The best part of yesterday was that I was able to get tickets to go and see Sam Smith on September 19th! I guess they can be a little bit of an early birthday present to myself, the concert is just seven days after it! You know that I’m huge music fan and I get a little obsessed from time to time. I think that his album is one of the best that I have heard in years. I’m big fan of the words in songs and here are some from one called Make it to Me…

You’re the one designed for me
A distant stranger that I will complete
I know you’re out, there we’re meant to be
So keep your head up and make it to me

The album is called In the Lonely Hour, we all feel a little lonely at times, don’t we. It’s a melancholy album but I don’t feel sad when I listen to it. I think that it’s nice for someone to express things that we have all felt at one time or another. It makes us feel less lonely. The album is out Tuesday! I’m off to Manhattan in a few for the morning, just to wander for a bit!

Now on to the fun stuff! I had so much fun with the Stars Framelits that I had to play with them again! I did a funky card with lots of gold! The card starts off with a base of Tangelo Twist Card Stock. I used the Stars Framelits to partially cut the larger star with my Big Shot and the the entire one out of the middle. I cut a piece of Window Sheet out with them too and then a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. I adhered the gold one to the Window Sheet to make it “float”. A strip of Basic Black with a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape across it goes along the bottom. My feathers are from the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set, they are heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black and cut out with my Paper Snips. The pictures don’t do them justice, they look really cool unperson, almost 3D! My greeting is from the Banner Banter Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a hexagon that I cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit. To finish off the card I Sprinkled some of the Gold Sequin Trim singles across the card. I wasn’t a huge fan of Tangelo Twist but I do like it with the Black and Gold! I hope that you enjoyed my funky just for fun card for today’s post. Thank you for coming by, I really do appreciate your visits! Have a great Saturday peeps! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 207

Come on, you know what I’m going to say! I say it every week at this time! It’s FRIDAY!!!! Woo hoo! I really do love a Friday! I had a busy day at work yesterday. I had to go to one of our other buildings and fix the TV’s that play the loop. When that became my job I’ll never know. After that I had to walk around the building and create a map. Do you know how hard it is to create a map of a building that has about 100 rooms in it and no starting point?! It’s not easy I’ll tell you! After work I took a ride with my friend Sandy to her Up-Lines for a meeting. She had some new Catalog stuff, we went over the current promotions and made a card. When I got home at 10:00 last night I had to make today’s card, it was just dying to get out of my head! LOL!

Speaking of today’s card it’s for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. First I want to thank the wonderful Pals for selecting my card as one of the top picks for last week’s color challenge! You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE. Now for this week’s color challenge…

PPA 207

Another patriotic combo! I see that they have Midnight Muse in there so I thought I would dust it off, it is definitely one of my favorite blues! The card base is Real Red Card Stock. I used a piece of Whisper White for my background and stamped one of the paint strokes from the Work of Art Stamp Set in Real Red. The greeting is from the Geometrical Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse. My two larger stars are cut out with the Stars Framelits from a piece of Midnight Muse and Silver Foil Sheet. I punched three more stars out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack from Silver Foil Sheet and adhered all of them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Another simple card but I love the way the paint stroke make it look like a shooting star! There is my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. I’m happy that I let it escape last night! LOL! Thank you so very much for stopping by the blog today. I hope that you all have an awesome Friday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 140

Oh Thursday, I’m always happy to see you because you are such good friends with Friday! It was rainy here yesterday morning but the sun did manage to peek out for a little while in the afternoon. Work was quite busy today and I have to run out to one of the other locations tomorrow so that will be a nice break. My friend Danielle is off to Miami for a bachelorette party tomorrow so I will be lonely at the office. I hope that she has a safe flight and a great time! And does some things that she shouldn’t do! LOL! 🙂

I got to relax and spend some quality crafting time at home this evening and I made my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches #140

Super simple sketch calls for a nice simple card! I started mine off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. My background is a piece of Lost Lagoon that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The images are all from the Tap Tap Tap Stamp Set. My diagonal strip across the card is stamped in Lost Lagoon and backed with a piece of Silver Foil Sheet. The typewriter and greeting are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut out with my trusty Paper Snips. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it to the card. As I said nice and simple. I love the Tap Tap Tap Set, it was one of my first “must haves” from the new catalog. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thanks very much for popping in today to see what I’m up to. May you all have a fun crafty day! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 97

Today was another overcast day here on Long Island. I did mention yesterday that it was going to rain all week, and I think the weathermen actually got it right this time. It’s muggy but cool, so I guess that’s one plus. I mentioned that I’m moving and I wanted to get started early because I intend to not take a lot of things with me when I go. Last night began the purging. Andrew came by and we got through 25 boxes of stuff from my attic and condensed them into about 5 or 6. An impressive amount of work for one evening! But isn’t everything so much better when you have friends to do it with? The process is moving along nicely, no pun intended, and I’m much less stressed about the whole situation!

A quick bit of news from Stampin’ Up! They released a new Photopolymer Stamp Set yesterday called Calling All Heroes. It’s a fun set with cartoon like images and an alphabet to go along with it. You can see the flyer below or click HERE to download a PDF.

It’s Wednesday, once again time for my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

PCCCS097 Sketch 6-11-2014

I will admit, I was a little puzzled when I first looked at the sketch. I saw it as more of a suggestion for a layout, but not necessarily a sketch where the size of each element had to stay true. After looking at it that way, everything fell into place. The card base is Wisteria Wonder Card Stock and the background is a piece of Daffodil Delight embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is one of the Tea Lace Paper Doilies. The chevrons are Blackberry Bliss and is punched out with the Chevron Border Punch. My greeting comes from the Oh My Goodies Stamp Set, is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Whisper White and is cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set, Stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Wisteria Wonder and punched out with the Fun Flower Punch. In the middle is a Vintage Faceted Designer Button that I colored with the Medium Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Marker. All of the elements are adhered to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it that extra pop. I wasn’t too sure about the Wisteria Wonder and Blackberry Bliss together at first, but after finishing the card I really like the way that they complement each other. It’s pretty amazing that the Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers can color on just about anything! After all is said and done, a pretty good sketch. So there you have it, my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge, I hope you enjoyed it! Take a few minutes to stop by the blog and see the other designers’ take on the sketch. Thanks for checking out the blog today! Have a happy Hump Day! 🙂

Mojo 349 & More Pics!

Well, it was a true Monday yesterday. It pretty much rained all day and is supposed to for the rest of the week. After the beautiful weekend that we had there really is no reason to complain though! Work was work, not much exciting to report there. After work I had some dinner and then came home and made my card for today. I went to Sandy’s for her new catalog launch. It’s always fun to see everyone and catch up. The rest of the evening was uneventful, which can also be a good thing! As promised I have some more of the pictures from Sunday to share with you today!

Before we left Brooklyn we found this large area where you could play basketball and all kinds of other sports. As we walked through we found one of my favorite things in the world, a swing set! The best part was it was big enough for adults!

IMG_0301

So there I am being a kid on the swing set! I love the fact that all of buildings are behind me too!

IMG_0269

Here is a little selfie of Kim and I when we got on the boat, a little windy but it felt nice!

IMG_0272

A view from the back of the boat looking downtown. That’s the Manhattan Bridge and then the Brooklyn Bridge.

IMG_0278

A little further up and you can see the Freedom Tower.

IMG_0290

The two tall buildings are on left, the Empire State Building and to the right the Chrysler Building.

IMG_0297

Thats the UN Building and the tall black one is where a friend of mine lives. To the left is the Chrysler Building again.

It really was a fun day and I hope that you enjoyed all of the pictures. I’ll see if I can sneak in some more later in the week, I did take a lot of pictures!

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to let you know this week’s specials from Stampin’ Up!

Weekly Deals 6-10-2014 1

Weekly Deals 6-10-2014 2

Now on to the business at hand, my card today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

Mojo349

I used a lot of different colors, all of which are in the new All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. My card begins with a base of Mossy Meadow Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Pistachio Pudding with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder using the Texture Boutique. The strip of paper across the bottom is a piece from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. Following the sketch there are two diagonal strips of Daffodil Delight and a strip of Mossy Meadow on the left. My flower and leaves are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. The flower is stamped in Blushing Bride for the base, Strawberry Slush for the next layer and finally Daffodil Delight for the center. The leaves are stamped in Mossy Meadow and they are all cut out using the Flower Fair Framelits. My greeting comes from the Let Your Hair Down Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Mossy Meadow. To finish off the card I glued three of the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins on the left. I’m loving the colors and the Flower Patch stamps give such nice crisp images and the Framelits make them super easy to cut out. I also like the layering! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I’m so happy that you stopped by and I hope that you have a nice Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 199 & Brooklyn

Yes, it’s Monday again but I had such a nice day yesterday I don’t even care! I headed into Manhattan around 7:45am and got there around 8:40, not a bad ride in at all! I met Kim at her apartment and we headed over to the Diner for some breakfast. I had some whole wheat pancakes and they were delicious! We then made our way to the subway to head downtown. The subway in the summer on the weekends is so nice, it took us 12 minutes to get from 86th Street to the Brooklyn Bridge stop on the 5 train. As soon as you come out of the subway the bridge is right there so off we went. It’s a pretty cool experience to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, you are up above the cars and there are amazing views of the city. I have a bunch of pictures, so many that I will post some today and some tomorrow! We wandered around in DUMBO for a little while and then had some ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, I had coffee and it was delicious! We decided that it was a nice day for a boat ride so we took the NY Waterway boat back to Manhattan. It goes up Brooklyn and then across to 34th Street. After we got off the boat we made our way over to the movie theater to see Maleficient. It was a great movie! Angelia Jolee is perfect as Maleficent. If you don’t know what it’s about it’s a retelling of Sleeping Beauty and it’s really done well. After the movies we headed back up to Kim’s neighborhood and had some Nick’s pizza for dinner and then I headed home. A pretty awesome day! And now for some pictures…

This is when you first start walking across to Brooklyn.

Here is me with Manhattan behind me. (In my Coastal Cabana shirt! LOL!)

Me again with the bridge behind me.

This is a pretty neat picture of the bridge with the skyline behind it. You can see the Freedom Tower too.

That’s the Manhattan Bridge.

And this is just a pretty neat picture of the skyline of lower Manhattan.

Tomorrow I’ll post some of the ones from the boat so be sure and come back! 🙂

I want to thank Ann Schach for choosing me as her pick for last week’s wedding challenge over at the Paper Players. You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE.

Now on to this week’s Paper Players challenge. Jaydee has a very patriotic one for us this week…

Paper Players #199

Red, White and Blue, I immediately thought of July 4th but also thought that a lot of other people would do that so I went a different route. My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock. For the background I used the Darling Doily Thinlit to cut out a piece of Night of Navy and adhered it to the card and snipped off some of the left side. My tag is created with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the bottom corners are rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. My greeting and “ice cream” are both from the Cupcake Party Stamp Set. The greeting is stamped in Night of Navy on the tag and the “ice cream” is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Real Red and punched out with the Cupcake Builder Punch. The cone is punched out with the Pennants Punch and embossed with the Tiny Triangles Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Thanks to Linda for putting the idea into my head! A piece of Vintage White 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is tied through the top of the tag to finish the card. The icing from the Cupcake Party Set makes neat ice cream too don’t you think?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Thanks you very much for coming by to see my card and share in my Sunday! Love having you stop by! Enjoy your day! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 206

Well, I had a very nice Saturday and I hope that you did too! I got up and did some crafty things this morning. I finished mountain all of my new Stamp Sets, unfortunately the organizing didn’t happen. Around 10:00am I left the house to got and get a haircut, stopped by my parents and put a screen protector on mum’s new iPad Air. It was so nice out that I had to take a ride in the convertible and work on my car tan! LOL! I came home and made some cards, ran to Target and watched a little TV. This morning I’m off to Manhattan! I’m going to go and see my fiend Kim. We are going to go on a little adventure and then to see Maleficent. It’s supposed to be another beautiful day! Yeah! I’ll have some pictures for you all tomorrow!

I played with some more goodies and made my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 206

An interesting color combo don’t you think? My card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and for the background I used a piece of Vellum Card Stock. The panel is a piece of Baked Brown Sugar. I used the Striped Scallop Thinlit to cut out some So Saffron and adhered it to the panel with 2-Way Glue. I will tell you that like the Expressions Thinlits from the Holiday Catalog I recommend using a piece of wax paper between the card stock and die to help with easy release! The flower, bird and greeting are from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set. The flower is stamped in Pacific Point and cut out with my Paper Snips, the bird in So Saffron and also cut out, finally the greeting in Pacific Point and the ends flagged. I used the small stars from the Be the Star Stamp Set, stamped them in Pacific Point and cut them out with the Stars Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I love the eclectic feel of the card and the Striped Scallop Thinlit creates a really cool background for all of the them. There you have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge loaded with new stuff! I hope that you enjoyed the card and that you all have a great Sunday! Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you tomorrow! 🙂
