Paper Craft Crew 95

Wednesday already! I could really get used to Tuesday being Monday! I’m very happy that you like the three cards from yesterday. As Linda said, we are our own worst critic! It was a little on the muggy side here yesterday and they said it was going to rain today so most of my windows in my apartment were shut. Needless to say it was 88 degrees in the house when I got home. That’s a little warm! There was an awards night at Taylor’s school last night. Taylor received an award for being a model student! She also got to present two awards to teachers that made a difference in her life. It was really neat idea. After the school I came home and just relaxed, it was way too hot to do anything else. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow but it’s also supposed to get a little cooler, no complaints there!

If it’s Wednesday that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

PCCCS095 5-28-2014

A funky sketch indeed! I was a little puzzled when I first looked at it, I think once I got past the heart I was good! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Hello Honey embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the left and a piece of paper form the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack is on the right. The flower is from the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with my Paper Snips. After the leaves yesterday this was a breeze! LOL! That’s my favorite little bee from the Backyard Basics Stamp Set, he is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Hello Honey and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. The hello is from the Simply Celebrate Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. I used the new Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge. My little chevrons are Blackberry Bliss and they are cut out with one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I love that flower and I’m really going to miss my little bee! There is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Stop by the blog to see the projects from the other designers and enter your card in the gallery, You may be chosen as a featured artisan! I hope you are enjoying the sneak peeks and my card. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and see what I’m up to! Have a great Wednesday! 🙂

Mojo 347 & Pals Paper Arts 205

Technically it was a long weekend but they are never long enough even when they are three days! I did have a very nice time. Yesterday I went out to my brother’s for a BBQ and then came home and relaxed. It really is nice to just sit around for a bit, it never lasts very long though. I always get an itch to do something and that usually results in me sitting at my craft desk. I realized that I didn’t do my Pals Paper Arts card so I made one on Sunday night. Yesterday I decided that I didn’t like it so I made another one. I don’t usually post the cards that I don’t like but it will be at the end of today’s post and you can judge for yourself.

My first card is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo347

Tall and skinny, my favorite! The base of the card is Coastal Cabana Card Stock. In the middle is a piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Smoky Slate. The strip across the lower half is also Eastern Elegance DSP, I backed it with a piece of Crushed Curry to make it a little sturdier. The ribbon is Silver 1/8″ Ribbon. Tucked behind it is one of the images from the Happy Day Stamp Set stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. In the middle is one of the greetings from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set, stamped in Crushed Curry and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the whole panel to the card. One of the Basic Metal Buttons is added with a Mini Glue Dot on top of the ribbon and finishes off the card. I have neglected the Eastern Elegance DSP for a while and am glad I got to use it one more time before it goes “Vintage”!

Mojo 347-WM

Next up is my final card for the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 205

This cad is filled with new goodies! The base is Pistachio Pudding Card Stock and the background is a piece of Hello Honey that I embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The three panels are Lullaby Designer Series Paper backed with Baked Brown Sugar. All of the images are from the Nuts About You Host(ess) Stamp Set. The tree is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. Apparently I lost my mind a little because I stamped the tree again in Pistachio Pudding and fussy cut the leaves out. Nuts right?! (Goes with the name of the stamp set!) The bird is also cut out with my Paper Snips and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar. My greeting is also stamped in Coastal Cabana and adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I used the 3/4″ Circle Punch to punch out the other little bird, the greeting didn’t make much sense with just the one bird! LOL! The leaves were a lot of work but I think well worth it. I really hope that you enjoyed both cards for Mojo Monday and the Pals Paper Arts challenge. The other Pals Paper Arts card is at the end of the post, I’m sure you will see why I didn’t like it! I appreciate you coming by to see me today. Enjoy your Tuesday peeps! 🙂

Paper Players 197

Happy Memorial Day! Let’s not forget that not only does this mark the official start to the Summer season but we also need to remember the men and women that serve in our armed forces and protect our freedoms. It was just a beautiful day here yesterday. I went for a nice ride in the convertible, had some Subway for lunch and watched Red 2. I have been really into these action movies with lots of explosions lately. Hmm… wonder what that is about?! LOL! I’m supposed to go out to my brother’s for a BBQ today and who knows what else?! What fun festivities are you up to today?

Before I get today’s card I wanted to thank all of you for your lovely comments on yesterday’s card. I had so much fun making it and I’m so happy that you liked it so much! You guys make my day and bring a big smile to my face! Holiday or not it’s Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from lovely LeAnne…

Paper Players #197

I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to do when I first saw the sketch. My card base for today is Sahara Sand Card Stock. The strip of paper down the center is from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I keep saying that it has great colors and awesome patterns and it does! My panel in the middle is a piece of Hello Honey backed with Blackberry Bliss. I cut the leaves out from Perfect Plum using the Little Leaves Sizzlit. The flowers are from the Petite Petals Stamp Set and are stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. My butterfly is from the Nature’s Hello Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. 2-Way Glue holds the leaves and Mini Glue Dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the flowers and butterfly in place. I used the Perfect Plum for the leaves because I thought that the lighter purple in the DSP looked like it. Love the fact that it looks a little like lattice too! I hope that you enjoyed my bright card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. I know that I say it every day but I really do love your visits and I hope that you have a safe and happy Memorial Day! 🙂

Doily Blossoms Lace Birthday

Sometimes playing it by ear is a good thing. I had a nice day yesterday filled with friends. Kim asked me to watch the munchkins for a bit while she ran to the store. Izzy and I sat and colored while Savannah sat in the laundry basket and played on the iPad. After that I went over to see Heather, She did something to her back so we went to the Dr. and then out to lunch. The evening was capped off by an impromptu BBQ and some wine. I came home and decided that I needed a little destruction so I watched A Good Day to Die Hard. The perfect movie when you want some explosions! LOL! Pretty good day huh?! What have you all been up to?!

Today I’m sharing with you a card that I made for my friend Danielle to send to her aunt. When I make a card for someone, especially someone that I know, I try to incorporate a little bit of them into the card, The base of the card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I stamped the Hello Doily Stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla in Soft Sky and then the greeting in Melon Mambo from the Simply Sketched Host(ess) Stamp Set. Across the middle is a piece of the 5/8″ Crochet Trim. I stamped a ticket from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in Blushing Bride and punched it out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. The flagged piece is stamped with one of the stamps from The Open Sea Stamp Set in Lost Lagoon and one of the Very Vintage Designer Buttons with some Linen Thread tied in a bow is adhered on top of them with a Mini Glue Dot. Next up are three flowers and some leaves from the Stippled Blossoms Stamp Set. They are stamped in Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo for the flowers and Wild Wasabi and Always Artichoke for the leaves. Some Paper Snip action and Stampin’ Dimensionals help get them on the card. To finish it off I “scattered” some Basic Jewels Pearls. The card has a vintage feel but with a clean and modern twist just like the person that received it! I had fun making this card and love the way it came out and hope that you do too! Thanks for coming by to see me today, have a lovely Sunday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 137 & Bonus!

I was hoping that Friday would be a nice easy day but alas that was not meant to be. They are building out he warehouse at work and my department got to move boxes around all day. I haven’t been to the gym in a while but I definitely feel like I went yesterday! It was overcast all day and rained last night. I did go to IHOP with Anthony and Bill for dinner. I haven’t had IHOP in ages. I was good and got the low calories pancake and eggs. I do love  a little breakfast for dinner! I came home and watched a movie and then just relaxed. It was a good way to end a busy day. What do all of you have planned for this long weekend? I’m playing it by ear. 🙂

I have my Freshly Made Sketches sketches card for this week’s challenge for you today. There is also a bonus card at the end of the post! This week’s sketch is given to us by Jen M….

Freshly Made Sketches #137

A very simple sketch so I stayed true to it with my card. The base is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Hello Honey that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Across the lower part of the card is a piece of Moonlight Designer Series Paper. I love how nicely the embossing folder and the paper go together. My greeting is from the Everyday Occasions Card Making Kit and is stamped in Lost Lagoon. I used the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits to cut it out. It’s backed with some Basic Gray and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two butterflies that I punched out from Lost Lagoon with the Bitty Butterfly Punch are adhered to the right of the greeting. Simple card with some of my favorite new In-Colors and DSP. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Scroll down a little to see my extra card for you for today. Thank you so much for dropping by, have a great Saturday! 🙂

Fab Friday 42

You have taken you sweet time getting here Friday, but I’m glad that you have finally arrived. And you are kind enough to bring with you an extra day off! It was gloomy here all day yesterday but didn’t rain until this morning. They have changed the wether and it’s supposed to be nice on Sunday and in the 80’s on Monday. That’s a much better outlook for the first official weekend of summer don’t you think?! I did have a nice evening, I met up with my friend Joe for a drink. He’s back to LA on Monday. I’ll have to see about going out there to see him I think!

The Friday is extra awesome because it’s a Fab Friday week! This time we have a fun color challenge for you…

Fab Fri 42 5-23-2-14

I love it when we have colors that I wouldn’t think to put together! I decided that funky colors needed a funky card! Mine starts off with a base of Very Vanilla Card Stock. The strips of DSP down the left and across the lower half are both from the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper Pack. On top of the strip down the left is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. The rectangle is a piece of Pool Party that I stamped with one of the stamps from The Open Sea inked in Pool Party. My flower is from the Simple Stems Stamp Set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. For the greeting I used one of the stamps from the A Round Array Stamp Set inked in Summer Starfruit and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. Finally, my little balloon is from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Summer Starfruit and cut out with my Paper Snips. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A little bit of collage feel but not cluttered. Like I said, I love using different fun color combos! So there is my card for the Fab Friday challenge, now go and see what the rest of the Design Team has for inspiration and let’s see what you have, enter your card in the gallery! Always great to see you visit, make sure that you have a Fabulous Friday! 🙂

Mojo 346

Well at least it’s Thursday! My week is still crawling along. My day was nice, the weather was pretty good again although tonight is supposed to start our five day stretch of rain. I have a little rant to share with you today. I’m really enjoying this new artist called Sam Smith. He has released a bunch of songs and I love every single one of them. His album comes out soon and I can’t wait. So I saw Tuesday that he is having a concert at the Apollo Theater in NYC and tickets went on sale yesterday morning. I was on TicketMaster at exactly 10:00am and all of the tickets were sold out. Really?! Around 12:00 I went on StubHub and sure enough there are all of these tickets available for three and four times the price. Call me crazy but I thought ticket scalping was illegal? If I was the artist I would be really annoyed that people that actually wanted to see me couldn’t now because TicketMaster is a scam. Sorry, just had to share, now back to our regularly scheduled levity! 🙂

So much going on the blog this week that I’m just getting to post my Mojo Monday card today! Our sketch this week is provided by Julee Tilman…

Mojo346

Fun, simple and it was one of those where I created the card in my little brain when I saw the sketch. My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock. For my background I stamped the Hardwood Background Stamp on a piece of Very Vanilla in Baked Brown Sugar and backed it with a piece of Coastal Cabana. A strip of Bermuda Bay goes down the left side and also makes the two flagged strips under the circle. Speaking of the circle it is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits and pierced around the edge with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack. The shell is from the By the Seashore Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar on Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with my Paper Snips. My greeting is from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Baked Brown Sugar. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the shell and circle to the card. Lastly I put some Basic Jewels Pearls on the strip down the left and the two flagged strips. I really love that Hardwood Background Stamp, the best wood stamp we have ever had, I think! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Your visits are always one of the best parts of my day, I thank you for stopping by and hope that you have a good Thursday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 94

I know it’s Wednesday today, but to me it feels like it should be Thursday or Friday. LOL! It’s been quite busy here on my blog the past few days. Two blog tours in a row and a sort-of double post yesterday. Not that I didn’t love every minute of it, as you know. And I hope you got lots of inspiration and some ideas on how to use products from the new catalog. Weather here was gorgeous again today. On a fun note, the Democratic National Convention is being held down the street from where I work. Traffic should be horrendous for the next two days. Gotta love politics, right?! LOL!

Wednesday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

PCCCS094 5-21-2014

I know you are going to be thoroughly amazed, I managed to use only one stamp set for this card! My card base is Tangelo Twist Card Stock. The background is a piece of Whisper White, I used the Chevron Border Punch across the bottom and stamped one of the images from the Hello Love Stamp Set in Lost Lagoon. The bird on the arrow and the sun are also from the same stamp set and are stamped in Lost Lagoon and Tangelo Twist. I used my trusty Paper Snips to cut them both out. I punched out a piece of Hello Honey with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch to go behind the sun and the bird and I adhered them all to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Up top is a piece of Hello Honey punched out with the Banner Punch and a heart punched out of Lost Lagoon with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack is popped up on top of it. Hello Love is a fun set that has a bunch of different elements that all go nicely together. Now that I think about it, I also used three of the new In-Colors. And there you have my bright, fun, cheery card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! The blog will have some more samples from the rest of the Design Team to inspire you to create a card to add to the gallery. I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek inside the new catalog and as always, thanks so much for stopping by! Have a happy Hump Day!

SUO Challenges 97

Hey there! Long time no see! LOL! Did you enjoy the Control Freaks Blog Tour?! Lots of new Catalog goodies! Yes, it’s kind of my second post for yesterday/today. I told you that I had a lot of projects to make over the weekend. And because of all of you I can’t think of anything else that I would rather be doing! Your visits and comments make it all worth it! Let’s see… yesterday work was good, I was a little busy when I got home with more crafty stuff. It did rain here a little last night but just a little. The weather has been absolutely perfect otherwise. I think that Spring is my new favorite season!

It’s Tuesday so here are this week’s specials from Stampin’ Up!

Weekly Deals 5-20-2014 1

Weekly Deals 5-20-2014 2

Every other Tuesday I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog with the rest of the talented Design Team for our bi-weekly challenge. This time around the theme is Something Delicious. I thought about it for a little while and settled on cake. That’s delicious right?! I haven’t used the Circle Card Thinlits in a while so I dusted it off for today’s card. My base is Pistachio Pudding Card Stock. I used the Circle Card Thinlits, but left some extra card stock hanging over the end to crete the flip card with another panel. Some of the Lullaby Designer Series Paper* is used to cover the front panels of the card. My greetings and cake are from the new Endless Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set. On the front the cake is stamped in Coastal Cabana, the greeting in Hello Honey* and I used my Stampin’ Write Markers in Hello Honey*, Coastal Cabana and Pistachio Pudding to create the dots. The Hello Honey* backing is punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the scallop is from the Circle Card Thinlits set. On the inside of the flip I used the same backing and scallop. The greetings are stamped in Sahara Sand, Pistachio Pudding, Hello Honey* and Coastal Cabana. For a little fun addition I cut out some Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey* and Pistachio Pudding with the star from the set and strung them on some White Bakers Twine. I think it’s a nice little surprise when you open the card, don’t you? Loving the Endless Birthday Wishes set too by the way! There you have my card for the SUO Challenges Something Delicious theme. Stop by the blog to see the other delicious projects the rest of the Design Team has and enter your take in the gallery for us to see! Thanks you so much for coming by to see me once again! I really do appreciate all of your visits! Enjoy the reset of your Tuesday! 🙂

Control Freaks May Blog Tour – New Catalog Sneak Peek!

freakwelcome2013

Time sure flies doesn’t it?! Guess I must be having fun! Welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring sneak peeks of goodies from the new 2014-2015 Annual Catalog! I have to say that I am loving the new Catalog, I like the layout and the products are all awesome! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the talented Melissa Davies’ blog, always great ideas and really fun stuff! This month I have two cards and a little box that can hold a treat!

First up is a card using the new Sea Street Stamp Set and the Maritime Designer Series Paper. I used Real Red Card Stock for my card base and the background is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Remember that one from Sale-A-Bration? It’s back! The greeting is from the Something to Say Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red on Whisper White and cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits. Two pieces of paper from the Maritime Designer Series Paper Pack are up next. The top square has a heart cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits and is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals along with the greeting in the middle. The little octopus is from the Sea Street Stamp Set, stamped in Night of Navy and cut out with my Paper Snips. I love to fussy cut but he was a little bit of a challenge! LOL! The fun patterns in the DSP and the cute little octopus make for a fun card!

My second card uses one of my favorite new sets. I’m a huge fan of the details in the stamps! This card starts off with a base of Garden Green Card Stock. The background is a piece of Very Vanilla stamped with the World Map Background Stamp in Smoky Slate. The three images are from the Traveler Stamp Set and are stamped in Night of Navy, Soft Suede and Memento Tuxedo Black. I cut them all out with my Paper Snips, much easier than the octopus! The greeting I chose is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set and is stamped in Night of Navy. I used the Word Bubbles Framelits to cut it out and snipped off the point to make it a perfect rectangle. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere everything to the card. I think the images with the map and the greeting make for a happy card. Travel means possibilities and fun. It’s definitely the life that I imagine!

Finally I have a little box for you. It’s the perfect size for a little treat or to put a gift card in. The box is created using a piece of Hello Honey Card Stock and the Hamburger Box Bigz XL Die. On the top is a bow that I cut out from a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper with the Gift Bow Bigz XL Die. I used the new Fast Fix Adhesive to assemble it and a Stampin’ Dimensional holds it to the top of the box. My greeting on the front is from the Label Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and punched out with the Artisan Label Punch. A quick fun project that would make anyones birthday a little more fun!
