Mojo 311

Happy Tuesday! I forgot that I have a four day week this week because I’m going on a little trip on Thursday night. I’ll tell you more about it on Friday! I’m quite excited about it! It is definitely feeling fall like here, windy and rainy yesterday morning but it cleared up in the afternoon and it’s 48 degrees this morning. Lot’s of catch up before I leave too. So much to do and so little time, isn’t that how it always works?!?!

Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and the sketch this week is provided by Julee Tilman…

Mojo311

I just received this month’s Paper Pumpkin in the mail today and I love it as always. I was inspired by the card and decided to used the stamps and the color ink pad today. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. A piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper with a piece of Midnight Muse that I punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch along with a strip and a circle of Silver Glimmer Paper creates the backdrop. The greeting is stamped on a piece of Whisper White that I punched along the top with the Envelope Punch Board to create the file folder look. A strip of Pool Party and a piece of 1/8″ Silver Ribbon goes across the bottom. I used the Chevron Border Punch to punch out some Midnight Muse for the three chevrons on the left. I really do think that the Paper Pumpkin Kits are fun and I love all of the stamps that come with them. I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and thank you for coming by. Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 163

How was the weekend? Mine… not too bad. I went into Manhattan yesterday to see a friend, it was a beautiful day. Still a bit crisp but it did warm up. I think this is my favorite time to be in the city, you can walk around with overheating. I came home and did some puttering in the craft area, picked up my daughter from work and ran some errands. Monday, you just come way too fast!

My post for today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This time around Anne Marie has given us a CAS for the kids challenge…

Paper Players #163

I have had this idea in my head for a little bit and I thought this would be the perfect time to try it out. The base of my card is Basic Black Card Stock. The background is a piece of Smoky Slate. All of the images on the top half of the card are from the “Vintage” Out on a Limb Stamp Set. The branch, stamped in Early Espresso, and the cat, stamped in Basic Black, are stamped directly onto the background. The super cute little witch is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with my Blush Blossom, Pumpkin Pie and Pistachio Pudding Stampin’ Write Markers. I used Crushed Curry to stamp the broom and colored it in with So Saffron. She is then punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the edges are sponged in Smoky Slate. The two clouds are stamped in Smoky Slate and cut out with my Paper Snips. On to the idea part of my card. I stamped the greeting from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie. Using my Stampin’ Trimmer and the Rotary attachment I cut a piece of Gumball Green with the Perforating Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade and used some Sticky Strip to adhere it over the greeting. The spider web is from the “Vintage” Spooky Bingo Bits Stamp Set and the “pull” is stamped with the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie. Now here comes the fun part, you pull open the top to reveal the greeting underneath! What kid (or adult for that matter) wouldn’t want to do that?! Pretty cool huh?! Oh yes, there will be more of these!! Thank you very much for checking out my Paper Players card for this week’s CAS for the kids challenge from Anne Marie. I appreciate your visit and hope you have a zippy day! 🙂

Just Add Ink 182

Good day! I had a nice productive Saturday, other than sleeping in a little late! I ran some errands, got a much needed haircut and got a lot of projects finished. I had to make a bunch of thank you cards for my birthday gifts and I have some hops and swaps coming up too. It was chilly here today, definitely felt fall like and crisp. I still kept the shorts and flip-flops and just added a hoodie. What were you all up to today?

For today’s post I have my card for this week’s Just Add Ink. This time they ask us to add a frame and we know I love frames!!

The card I made is a pocket card. It’s relatively simple to make, you just need to grab your Simply Scored, Big Shot and Squares Collection Framelits. I used Whisper White Card Stock for the base of my project. It is cut to 5 1/2″ x 6 1/4″ and I scored it at 1/4″ and 3 1/4″ on the long side and 1/4″ on the short side. The window is cut out with the Squares Collection Framelits Dies and so is the frame, from Soft Sky. I rounded the top corners of both the frame and the pocket with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The pocket is stamped with the A Banner Christmas Stamp Set in Old Olive, Soft Sky and Real Red. under Christmas I adhered a thin piece of Soft Sky and some red sequins are on either side. For the piece that slides inside I cut a piece of Whisper White to 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″, rounded the corners and punched a hole in the top. I used the Warmth and Wonder Host(ess) Stamp Set and my Stamp-a-ma-jig for all of the images. A piece of Real Red 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon is tied through the hole in the top to make it easier to pull out. I needed a custom envelope so I used my Envelope Score Board and some Whisper White to make one. A strip of Season of Style Designer Washi Tape goes across the bottom and the pattern matches the stamped image on the front of the card. The pocket card is a nice change from the ordinary and you could do so many different things with it. I’m sure this won’t be the last one that you see on here! Thanks very much for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Just Add Ink – just add frames challenge. I hope you enjoyed the project and have a fun Sunday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 103

It’s the weekend… woo hoo! I went out to dinner with my friends Bill, Anthony and Danielle to Friday’s last night and had a Long Island Iced Tea. It was much needed after I came out to go to work yesterday and discovered that someone had hit my car. I don’t understand how people can ruin something of someone else and just leave. It must be nice to not have a conscience. So yes, that was a great way to start off my day huh?! It had a nice finish so that made it a bit better. The weather here is a little crisp this morning but nice and clear, I guess Fall is on it’s way… boo! I don’t have any definite plans for the weekend, how about you?

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to mention that there have been a bunch of new items added to the Clearance Rack! You can click here to go to my On-Line Store and check them out. I placed a little order yesterday because I just couldn’t resist! 🙂

Now for today’s post I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Jen B. has given us a nice sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches #103

When I first looked at the sketch it reminded me of a formal look but I decided to go a different route. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock that I stamped randomly with the Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set in Pool Party. For the greeting I used the nice big Joy and Love Single Stamp. I stamped it in Smoky Slate and again in Island Indigo, the latter is cut out with the Deco Labels Framelits. I used a piece of Cherry Cobbler to back it and some Stampin’ DImensionals to adhere the pieces to the base. I wanted a little snowflake but opted for a piece of Cherry Cobbler punched out with the Boho Blossom Punch instead to cover up the to and from on the stamp. The paper on the right is from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack and has the corners rounded with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. A Neutrals Candy Dot in the middle of the blossom and two Regals Candy Dots on the DSP finish off the card. I really like the new Holiday Single Stamps, they are nice and big and the Candy Dots always add that little something extra! Thanks for visiting me today to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. I hope that you all have a fun Saturday! 🙂

Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad September Blog Hop!

SSSHeader

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to thank all of the wonderful people that stopped by yesterday to wish me a Happy Birthday! It really means a lot to me! A huge thank you to Brian who is just awesome, sneaky but awesome, but you know that already! So yes, today is my birthday and it has been a really great one so far! 🙂

Thank you so much for joining us for the September Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Hop! This month we are focusing on the tools of the stampin’ trade. Specifically, each of our favorite stamping tools. It’s amazing the kinds of tools that have been created to help us along in our paper-crafting addictions. This month’s blog hop will showcase many of the Stampin’ Up! tools that are now available to us in the 2013-2014 Stampin’ Up! Idea Book and Holiday Catalog and even a couple of products that are so new they aren’t in either catalog. We hope you enjoy seeing how we use the old and new tools and are inspired to come up with some great projects of your own.

You should have just left Kim R. of Stamping with Kim on the Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad blog hop. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn’t work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

For my project I used more than one of my favorite tools. My all time favorite tool is definitely my Big Shot, I think I use it in almost every card that I make! One of the new things they have for the Big Shot is the Thinlits Dies. They are just the coolest thing to come along in a while. You can make a flip card in minutes and variations on it too! My second favorite tool is my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I used that one an awful lot too!

My card uses the Circle Card Thinlits Dies with a little extension on the end. It’s actually quite easy to do, just leave 2 7/8″ extra card stock over the top of the right edge when you run it through the Big Shot, it even scores it for you! The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. I used some Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper for the background that I trimmed using the Circles Collection Framelits. The front of the circle flip is a piece of Raspberry Ripple that I stamped with a stamp from the Cycle Celebration Stamp Set in Raspberry Ripple using my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The soda bottle is stamped in Summer Starfruit, the banner in Island Indigo and I cut them both out with my Paper Snips. The inside circle is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the greeting I stamped the Celebrate a Sweet Birthday in Raspberry Ripple and Island Indigo. The Decorative Label Punch and Scallop Oval Punch cut them out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. I really do love the Circle Card Thinlits, especially with the extra piece on the right! Thanks for hopping by to my blog to see my project for this month’s project. Now you are off to see Heidi B. of Stuck on Stampin’, she will have some good stuff for you too! Just another thanks for all of the birthday wishes! Have a great day and a pice of cake for me! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 58

Wednesday, the halfway mark! Yeah! Work was super busy yesterday, we have lots going on and never quite enough time to finish it. The weather was warm and humid and it’s supposed to get up in the 90’s today. Summer isn’t quite finished yet, which I’m definitely not complaining about. I’m not a huge fan of winter. I was just saying to a friend the other night that if I never saw snow again I would be fine with that. I envy you Floridians! 🙂

Wednesday also means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch…

PCCCS058 9-11-2013

I will tell you that I was stumped when I saw all those little circles but after spending some quality browsing time with my stamps I felt a little better. The base of my card is Chocolate Chip Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack for the lower half and the top is a piece of Crumb Cake. Some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine goes around the middle and is tied in a bow before I adhered it to the base. Two more pieces of the DSP are flagged and placed behind the greeting which is from the Joy to the World Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The presents are from the Wishing You Stamp Set and are stamped in Cherry Cobbler, Baked Brown Sugar and Old Olive. Some Paper Snip action separates them and they are adhered to a piece of Crumb Cake and then adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I think the little cluster of gifts does a nice job representing the circles and I like the fact that red and green are kept to a minimum! Thanks very much for taking some time out of your day to stop by and see my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. The blog will have some more inspiration for you so you can add your project to the gallery. Have a very enjoyable Wednesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 79

Before I get to anything else today I wanted to let you know that beginning on September 12th you can order the Stampin’ Up! Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot. This is a must have accessory for your framelits! No more Post-It notes to hold them in place. I have had mine for a few months and I use it all the time. They were on backorder for a while but they are back in stock. I’m thinking this is Stampin’ Up!’s way of celebrating my birthday! LOL! Isn’t that nice of them?!?! Here is a picture of the sandwich used with the Magnetic Platform:

Mag Catalog

So if you don’t have one and have wanted to get one Thursday is the day people! 🙂

Yesterday was a little cool here but very nice. My cold seems to be getting a little better and I got to thank my friend Danielle in person for sharing it with me! She was supposed to go skydiving on Sunday but they waited for two hours and it was too windy so they have to try another time. I think I may join her the next time she goes! 🙂

For today’s post I have my SUO Challenges Design Team card for you. This time around we were asked to use our favorite techniques. I do have a lot but I love to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig and a Blender Pen and this is the card I came up with. The base is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. For the background I stamped a piece of Pistachio Pudding with a stamp from the Make a Wish Stamp Set in Pistachio Pudding using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to create the pattern. The main panel consists of two images from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and colored in with my Blender Pen and some Baked Brown Sugar, Calypso Coral and So Saffron Ink. I cut it and a piece of Baked Brown Sugar out with my Circles Collection Framelits Dies and used some Stampin’ Dimensionals in between to adhere them. The greeting is from the same set and is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I cut out a piece of Baked Brown Sugar to back it with and keep it consistent with the main images. I really like the background created with the repeated stamp, it’s gives a nice change from DSP or embossing and the stamps from the Sketched Birthday set are just fun! Thanks for dropping by to see my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Favorite Technique challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what my fellow Design Team members choose for theirs and enter one of your creations in the gallery! Have a great Tuesday!

Paper Players 162

And there goes another weekend zipping by. Monday, why must you come so quickly?! I had a productive weekend so I can’t complain, got lots of projects finished and that is always good. I’m wishing this cold would go away, that would make me very happy indeed! How was your weekend? Did you do any fun last hurrah for the summer things?

Monday does mean that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have an interesting color combo from lovely LeAnne…

Paper Players #162

I had a little trouble deciding what to do at first, there are quite a few possibilities. In the end I went with a simple thank you card. For the base I used a piece of Basic Black Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack. The main image and greeting are from the Gifts of Kindness Stamp Set, the flowers are stamped in Rich Razzleberry and the greeting in Basic Black. I backed it with a piece of Pool Party and a piece of Basic Black. The butterfly is from the Polka-dot Pieces Stamp Set and is also stamped in Rich Razzleberry and punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Two Subtles Designer Buttons make up the flower centers and some Basic Jewels Pearls give the butterfly a little oomph. I haven’t made a simple card like this one in a while and I love the combination of the stamp sets and DSP, they work quite well together. Thank you for stopping by to see my Paper Players card for this week’s color challenge from LeAnne. I hope you all have a good Monday! 🙂

Just Add Ink 181

Hello there peeps! How is the weekend so far? Mine is going pretty well. I got a lot of projects done yesterday and even got to watch some TV, which I never do! Unfortunately my office mate Danielle has decided to share her cold with me. I haven’t been sick in ages so thanks Danielle for helping me to remember how much fun a cold is! LOL!

One of the projects that I got to create yesterday was my card for this week’s Just Add Ink color challenge…

JAI Colors 180

I really love these colors, especially the addition of silver! The base of my card starts off with a piece of Bermuda Bay Card Stock and the background is a piece of Brushed Silver Card Stock that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The frame in the middle is created with the Squares Collection Framelits Dies and the background insert is the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set stamped in Bermuda Bay. Across the bottom I used the Epic Day This & That Rotary Stamp and stamped an important date. LOL! All of the stamped elements on the frame and across the bottom of the card are from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set. The three images across the bottom are punched out with the 1″ Square Punch. I used the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch to create my fat feathers and adhered them behind a Neutrals Designer Button that is threaded with some Silver 1/8″ Ribbon. I really love the card and it’s collage look. The feathers were fun and easy to make and the Brushed Silver CS embosses great! Thank you very much for visiting me today and taking a look at my card for this week’s Just Add Ink color challenge. Enjoy your Sunday!

Pals Paper Arts 170

Good morning! There is nothing like a night out in Manhattan with some shots and some friends! We went to a little place in Midtown called Barcelona Bar, not that most bars are big in Manhattan! They had a list of different shot on boards on the wall. Three lists of $5, a list of $7 and then one of more expensive ones. Some of the shots came with music and some with a performance by the bartender. For the Harry Potter shot he donned a Gryffindor scarf and you had to wear the sorting hat and use a wand! The bartender then lit the bar on fire and chanted spells. It was quite entertaining! Heather and I stopped and had some chicken and pepperoni pizza on the way home. A really good time with some great friends!

Today’s post is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This week they have a nice color challenge for us…

PPA 170

The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. For the background I stamped the Postcard Stamp in Midnight Muse and added some script from the Notable Notions Stamp Set. The flowers are from the Flower Shop Stamp Set and are stamped in Early Espresso on Crushed Curry and punched out with the Pansy Punch. Some Midnight Muse cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit Die are adhered behind them and they are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The stamps are from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set and are stamped in Midnight Muse and Early Espresso. I punched them out with the Postage Stamp Punch and they too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love the colors and I might venture to say that even with the flowers you could still give this to one of the men in your life. Thank you, as always, for taking some time to stop by and visit. I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Have a good Saturday!
