SUO Challenges 78

Hey there! How is everything going? I’m much better than I was yesterday. My headache finally went away around 11:00am. I don’t think I have had one like that in a long time and hopefully not again anytime soon! It was nice here again today with a little more cloud cover and they are saying rain for tonight into tomorrow morning. Hopefully it will be nice for the three day weekend coming up! I do love a three day weekend! 🙂

Today I have my card for SUO Challenges. This time we have a ribbon and bows challenge for you. I decided to use some of the 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon, I have had it for a while and thought it was about time to break it out. The base of the card is Soft Suede Card Stock. The background is just a plain piece of Sahara Sand and I adhered the 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon around the back with Sticky Strip. I also used another piece behind the sentiment to hold it flat. The panel is then mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The image is the new Wonderful Blessing Single Stamp and it’s stamped in Midnight Muse and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I brayered one of the Tea Lace Paper Doilies in Midnight muse and backed it with a piece of Midnight Muse that I also cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits to make it a little more sturdy. The whole thing is adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the nice big size of the Wonderful Blessing Stamp and these would be great to make a bunch of for Christmas! Thanks so much for coming by to see my card for the SUO Challenges Ribbon and Bows. Head on over to the blog and check out what me teammates have for inspiration and add one of yours to the gallery. Have a fun Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 160

I know that I say it every Monday but boy did that weekend fly by. Yesterday was pretty nice, I did my projects and played around with some new ideas. Then around 8:00 I got a raging headache so I took some Excedrin and laid down. Wouldn’t you know I fell asleep and woke up at 12:00! Ha, that was definitely not a good thing. When I got up I wanted to sit at the craft desk again but I thought that would be a bad idea! It took a while to get back to sleep and I was up early this morning. Let’s see how long before I need a nap at work! LOL! The weather here yesterday was gorgeous, nice and mild with a breeze and perfect leave the windows open sleeping weather last night. The weather everyday should be like yesterday!

Today my post is for this week’s Paper Players. Before I get to it I wanted to thank Nance for selecting my card for her Cut Above for last week’s one layer card. You can see the winners list here and my original post here. This week Nance has given us a really cool sketch to work with…

Paper Players #160

I had a picture in my head of what I wanted the card to look like before I got started, love that! The base of the card is Gumball Green Card Stock. I used the Off the Grid Stamp and some Tangerine Tango Card Stock and Tangerine Tango Ink to create my background. Next up is some Witches’ Brew Designer Washi Tape on the diagonal with a thin strip of Gumball Green in the center. The stamped image is from the Halloween Bash Stamp Set. I stamped it three times, once in Gumball Green then in Tangerine Tango and again in Basic Black. The Gumball one is punched out with the Decorative Label Punch, the Tangerine one with the Scallop Oval Punch and the bat is cut out with my Paper Snips. All of them are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The three Gumball Green chevrons are punched out with the Chevron Border Punch and are also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love the Gumball with the Tangerine and Black, it gives the card a nice pop of color. I will definitely incorporate more Gumball into my Halloween projects! Thank you for visiting me today to see my Paper Players card for this week’s sketch from Nance. Have a good Monday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 100 & Just Add Ink 179

A good Sunday to you all! My Saturday didn’t turn out quite the way I had envisioned. I had breakfast with my friend Joe and that was very nice. I came home and started working on some projects and then my friend from work texted me to say that she couldn’t go to Manhattan. Bummer! I decided that it was way too nice of a day so I called my friend Louis and we went for a ride in the convertible and did some shopping. After, we had some gyros for dinner and they were delicious! So not a bad day after all. I will have to postpone my reviews for another time. LOL!

Today I have a double post, I don’t know where the week goes sometimes! It’s Freshly Made Sketches 100th Challenge! How great is that?!?! I have been playing along since sketch 38, so that 62 sketches! Pretty cool! For the 100th challenge they brought back the sketch from their very first one…

Freshly Made Sketches #100

I went for a retro feel to my card with some new products to sort of pay tribute to the sketch. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Delicate Details Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Crumb Cake to go across the lower half of the card. The tilted panel is a piece of Midnight Muse, embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. For the greeting I used the new Cheers Single Stamp, again stamped in Midnight Muse and backed with Crisp Cantaloupe. I flagged a little piece of Midnight Muse to go across the top that mirrors the stamped part of the bottom of the greeting. An ornament from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set that I inked in Crisp Cantaloupe and punched out with the Christmas Ornament Punch completes the card. I really like the Midnight Muse and Crisp Cantaloupe paired with the Crumb Cake, I think it makes and interesting combo!

FMS 100

My second card today is for the ladies over at Just Add Ink! I thought the sketch was really cool and perfect for the Rev Up the Fun! Stamp Set…

JAI Sketch 179

My card base for this card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Smokey Slate stamped with some Gorgeous Grunge in Pacific Point, I rounded the corners with the 1″ Circle Punch. All of the images and greeting are from the Rev Up the Fun! Stamp Set except for the flag that is stamped with one of the Paper Pumpkin Stamps. The tire marks and dust are stamped in Basic Black and the car in Pacific Point. For the greeting I used some Versa-Mark and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Ovals Collection Framelits Dies are used to cut it out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The images from the stamp set are fun and help to make a great masculine card that would work for any age.

JAI 179

Thank you, as always, for stopping by to see my post for Freshly Made Sketches 100th anniversary and Just Add Ink sketch challenge 179. It’s always great to have you check in and I hope that you enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 169

So remember yesterday when I said that I had no plans for this weekend? That all changed rather quickly! I’m going to have some breakfast with my friend Joe this morning and then I’m off to Manhattan with my work buddy Lisa to meet my city buddy Kim. We are going to see Elysium and have some dinner at Vapiano! I will have a full review for you tomorrow! LOL! What are you all up to this weekend? The weather is supposed to lovely here so that is always a good reason to get out and do something. My craft therapy will have to wait for tomorrow! 🙂

Today’s post contains my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts. We have a sketch challenge from the lovely Pixel Maven Nicole Watt…

PPA 169

The other day I had a little delivery from my friend the UPS man and the stamp I used on today’s card was in that cache! The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Smokey Slate with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The horizontal panel is a piece of paper from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack that is backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The large greeting is the new Be Merry Single Stamp. I inked it in Bermuda Bay and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The little holly berries looked a little dull so I got my Owl Builder Punch and punched out some Cherry Cobbler for them, they were much happier after that! I also used the punch for the piece of Smokey Slate that holds the Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon to the piece of Cherry Cobbler that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. 3 Basic Jewels Rhinestones and one of the gorgeous Frosted Finishes Designer Embellishments finish the card. I really love the Be Merry Stamp and I did cover up the To/From with the banner to make it a little less gift tag looking. Thank you for popping by to see my Pals Paper Arts Card for this week’s sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the card and that you will be back tomorrow for my reviews! LOL! Enjoy your day! 🙂

Well, I’m a very happy boy today and you know why! It’s FRIDAY! Wee! This week at work has felt long and I will be glad to have some much needed craft therapy this weekend. I always feel so much better after I have made something, don’t you?! I don’t have any definite plans for the weekend so we’ll see what happens. It’s not like my house couldn’t use a little TLC! Before I get to today’s post I want to thank the lovely ladies over at Just Add Ink for choosing my card as their favorite for last week’s just add snowflakes. Fab Fri 25 Sketch 8-23-2013

I do love a ticket and I noticed that the Halloween Bash Stamp Set came with one! The base of my card is Summer Starfruit Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper. I put it on upside and I am sticking with it’s so the bats can read it! (Thanks Sandy!) The greeting is from the Halloween Bash Stamp Set and is stamped in Pumpkin Pie and backed with a piece of Pumpkin Pie. Two thin strips of Basic Gray are embossed with the Needlepoint Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, it reminded me a little of Frankenstein! I mentioned the ticket and it’s stamped in Summer Starfruit and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. I love the simplicity and the stamp set is great! Thank you for stopping by to see my Fab Friday Design Team card for our 25th sketch challenge. Mojo 307

Good day! So nice to see you again! It was another lovely day here on the island, sunny and warm. It was actually the hottest day of August so far and it only got up to 90. So, I’m a big Apple fan as some of you may know. One of my favorite things to do is FaceTime. It allows me to do fun things like craft with Brian King. The other night I was making my Mojo card and I cut out the Wonderful Wreath with the Circles Collection Framelits and he said aren’t you going to fussy cut that? I knew he was right but I didn’t feel like doing it. As soon as I hung up however I did just that. I;m glad that I listened!

So today’s card is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch and the lovely Julee Tilman has given us this to work with…

Mojo307

The base of my card is Baked Brown Sugar and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two triangles are from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack. I stamped the Wonderful Wreath in Old Olive and as I mentioned I cut it out with my Paper Snips. Some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details gives the berries some sparkle. The piece of Cheery Cobbler behind it is cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies and the wreath is adhered to it with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and punched out with the Label Bracket Punch. A Brights Designer Button with some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine and some flags in the top left complete the card. I really am glad that I listened to Brian and his sage advice! LOL! Thank you very much for visiting me today to see my Mojo Monday Sketch card for this week’s challenge. Enjoy your Thursday! 🙂

Thanks for the comments on the Control Freaks Blog Tour from yesterday! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the projects, they were a lot of fun to make. I also saw that Stampin’ Up! repinned my one layer card from Monday! Woo hoo! That was a very nice surprise. 🙂

I almost forgot to tell you about the new Photopolymer Stamp Set that was recently released by Stampin’ Up! It’s called Another Thank You and it has some really great thank you’s in it. There is also this really cool one that covers a whole card front! You can see it below and If you want a PDF click here.

Today I have my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS055 8-21-2013

I’m liking the slightly askew look lately. You would think it would be easier that putting things on straight but I don’t find that to be the case! The base of my card is Garden Green Card Stock. I inked up the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with my Brayer and some Smoky Slate Ink. After I ran it through the Big Shot it had a really nice weathered look to it. The main panel is the Dictionary Background Stamp stamped in Smoky Slate and backed with a piece of Garden Green. I stamped the coffee cup from the Perfect Blend Stamp Set in Garden Green and cut it and the sleeve that is stamped in Crumb Cake on Crumb Cake and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder out. The ticket is from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set and is also heat embossed and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. The little corner is punched out with the “Vintage” Photo Corner Punch. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Three Regals Candy Dots complete the card. I really love the way the inked embossing turned out and will definitely do that again! Thank you so very much for taking some time to come by and see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. Head on over to the blog and see what my other teammates have done. Don’t forget to enter one of your creations for us to see! Have a very enjoyable Wednesday!

Control Freaks August Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello there and welcome to the Control Freaks August Blog Tour! We are so glad to have you along. This month we are featuring products from the 2013 Holiday Catalog. If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from the amazing Julie Davidson’s blog. She has cool stuff didn’t she? I have been having lots of fun playing with all of the goodies in the Holiday Catalog and I have also been having lots of fun with the new Thinlits Dies. I have a card for you today that uses the Thinlits and two fun projects that use Vellum.

First up we have the card. When they introduced the Thinlits at Convention I knew that I was going to love them and I was right! They are so much fun to play with and not just to make the cards. The elements they come with are great too! The base of my card is Smoky Slate Card Stock and I used the Circle Card Thinlits Die to cut it out. The circle in the middle starts off with a piece of Costal Cabana that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I used the scallop circle from the Thinlits set to cut out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. The snowflake is from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set and is cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies. The circle of Glimmer paper is cut out using the Circles Collection Framelits Dies. I adhered only the left side so that when you flip the card it circles the greeting which is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Costal Cabana. The greeting is from the Joy to the World Stamp Set and is stamped in Smoky Slate. A strip of Silver Glimmer Paper, the one on the left is punched with the Scallop Edge Punch, finish the card off with some more sparkle. I love the way the circle flips around to surround the greeting too!

Control Freaks August Blog Tour Card Closed

Control Freaks August Blog Tour Card Open

Next up I have a simple Votive Holder that I made with some Vellum Card Stock and my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Another one of the snowflakes from the Festive Flurry Stamp set is stamped in Costal Cabana on Vellum and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies. I used the Boho Blossom Punch to punch out the piece of Silver Glimmer Paper in the center, it fits just perfectly! A nice simple way to dress up a table or mantle for the Holidays!

Control Freaks August Blog Tour Votive

Finally I have a quick project that you could use as an ornament or to hang in a window. I stamped the Wonderful Wreath in Costal Cabana on more Vellum Card Stock and cut it out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies. The berries are colored in with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker. I used the Expressions Thinlits Dies to cut out Merry from some more Costal Cabana and adhered it to the wreath with 2-Way Glue. It looks really neat with some light behind it and could also easily be used on a card front or a gift package.

Control Freaks August Blog Tour Window Hanging

I hope that you enjoyed my card and projects for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour and that you are inspired to go and play with some goodies from the Holiday Catalog! Next up for you crafty pleasure we have the talented LeeAnn Greff. I’ll bet you can’t wait to see what she has in store for you! Thanks for hopping by and enjoy the rest of the tour! 🙂

Paper Players 159

Ahh.. Monday, I see you are back again. I wish you were a little more considerate of Saturday and Sunday and let them take their time leaving! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty nice. I had my Manhattan outing on Saturday and I spent a lot of time crafting which always makes me a happy boy. The weather here yesterday was overcast and it drizzled from time to time but a pretty good day none the less.

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players challenge and Ann has given us a one layer card…

Paper Players #159

I do love to make a one layer card! It can be a real challenge, especially if you like to layer things up an pile on the embellishments, but who doesn’t like to go outside their comfort zone?! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I created a mask for where I stamped the sentiment with some printer paper. I stamped the Magnificent Maple Stamp in Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, Early Espresso and Real Red randomly on the card. After I lifted the mask I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the greeting from the Thankful Stamp and stamped it in Rich Razzleberry. To create the outline I used my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker and a ruler. After I finished the card I went on to make a few other projects and when I looked at it again I could swear the greeting looked separate! Thank you so much for coming by today to see my card for this week’s CAS Single Layer card from Ann. Have a good Monday! 🙂

Just Add Ink 178

Good morning! I had a lovely day in the city yesterday with my friend Kim. We went to the diner for some breakfast, I had pancakes and they were delicious. We then headed to the subway to make our way down to Soho and wandered around for a couple of hours. I picked up my belated birthday gift for my friend Danielle and we had some yogurt from the Chobani store. I choose figs and walnuts with honey and they give it to you in a glass  bowl that you get to keep. We wandered around some more and I got a picture of the Freedom Tower that will be completed soon. After that we went to Washington Square Park. The park used to be really rundown and not a very nice place to go but they have cleaned it up nicely. I took a picture of the arch and if you look you can see the Empire State Building through the middle. For lunch we went to an organic hummus place called nanoosh. I had a hummus and falafel bowl that was quite tasty and Kim had one with chicken that was also good. Before I headed home we got my car and picked up Kim’s friend Maggie and went to the Target at Riverside Plaza. It’s nice to go there with the car because then they don’t have to lug all of the packages home on the bus or pay for a cab. All in all it was a very nice day! Below are the two pictures I mentioned…

Freedom Tower

Washington Square Park Arch

For today’s card I wanted to try the Just Add Ink challenge, just add snowflakes, for this week. I also wanted a simple card with a little bit of a different color combination. The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I used the World Map Stamp and stamped it in Costal Cabana on Whisper White. The snowflake is from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set and is stamped in Smoky Slate and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies. I choose the greeting from the Joy to the World Stamp Set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler, because I thought it went really well with the map stamp. A little fussy cutting with my Paper Snips and some 2-Way Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to hold the snowflake and the greeting to the card and it’s finished. If you like a little fussy cutting this would be a nice easy card to mass produce for your Holiday cards. Thanks you very much for stopping by to see my Just Add Ink card for the just add snowflakes challenge. I hope you enjoyed my Manhattan pictures and card. Have a wonderful Sunday! 🙂
