Well now that was a hot and muggy Monday with some thunderstorms thrown in for good measure! It was very soupy here on Long Island today, I guess summer has finally arrived! I’m not complaining, it’s better than cold and rainy any day! My friend Danielle comes back from vacation tomorrow, it will be good to have her back. 🙂

    Today’s post – Mojo Monday 299, a sketch by Julee Tilman…

    Mojo299

I have to say that I really enjoy the Mojo sketches, they have great layers in them. My card starts with a base of Island Indigo Card Stock. I used a piece of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper for the background. The flag is Gumball Green, it’s not in the DSP but It sure does look like it is. I punched a piece of Early Espresso out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and embossed it with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Before I adhered the panel to the card I adhered some Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back. The main panel has a background stamped with the Off the Grid Stamp in Island Indigo. For the greeting I used the Label Something Stamp Set and punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. The circle greeting is from the Notable Notions Stamp Set and is punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. Another piece of ribbon is adhered behind it. A fun and not overly complicated card. Thank you for taking a look at my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for this week. Have a great day! 🙂

  • Create with Connie and Mary 257

I’m not even going to say anything about Monday! We are back at the start of another week after a pretty nice weekend. How was your weekend? The Christening yesterday was a lot of fun. I got to see friends I haven’t seen in a while and the little kiddies are just too cute! To top it off I drove into Manhattan and home with the top down in the car, the perfect end to a beautiful weekend!

    Today’s post – Create with Connie and Mary 257, a sketch…

    CCMC 257

The card I’m posting today is the second one I made for this challenge, I absolutely hated the first one! The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I flagged a piece of Costal Cabana for the background. The neat chevron border across the top is made with the Show & Tell 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set. I then cut out a piece of Strawberry Slush with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies and stamped it in Strawberry Slush with the Dictionary Background Stamp. The hexagons are from the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set and the hello is from the Thanks & Hello Stamp Set, they are both punched out with the Hexagon Punch. For the abstract flower I used the Flower Shop Stamp Set and punched it out with the Pansy Punch. A little piece of Costal Cabana and a Basic Jewel Rhinestone finish off the card. I’m really liking the unusual combinations of stamps lately and hope you are enjoying them too. Thank you for coming by to see my Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge card for this week. I hope you have a nice start to your week!

  • Paper Players #151 🙂

Hello everyone! How is your weekend going so far. I ended up not going into Manhattan yesterday morning so my friend came out on the train. I picked her up at the station and we stopped at Target on the way home. We had some lunch and then chatted for a bit before heading out to the mall. Kim needed some new work clothes so we got those and then we met my friend Anthony for dinner. It was a very nice day and we have the Christening this morning and that should be a good time. Later on I’ll drive Kim home. Fun!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players. This time around we have a sketch from Nance…

    Paper Players #151 Sketch 6-23-2013

I will admit that I had a little trouble with this one at first. It’s very different but it turned out to be a lot of fun in the end! The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. The background is stamped with the Window Shop Stampin’ Around Jumbo Wheel in Night of Navy. I thought it was a little strong so I adhered a piece of Vellum over the to soften it a bit. All of the stamped images are from the Lovely Romance Stamp Set and are stamped in Cajun Craze. The lower one is cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and pierced around the edge with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. The larger one on the left is cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies and the lower one with the 1 1/4″Circle Punch. Two Regals Candy dots are adhered to them and one to the greeting. A piece of Summer Starfruit 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon goes across the middle and a simple knot is tied on the right. I think the stamp set has some great images and so does that wheel! Thank you so very much for stopping by to see my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s sketch challenge from Nance. Stop by the blog and see the great projects that the rest of the design team has created and don’t forget to enter your card in the gallery! Thanks again and have a fun Sunday! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches #91

Hello! Ahh.. the weekend is here! It’s supposed to be beautiful today and I can’t wait to drive into Manhattan with the top down in the car and some good tunes on the stereo. What are your plans for the weekend? I have a busy but fun one ahead and am looking forward to some much needed time with my peeps!

    Today’s post – Freshly Made Sketches #91, a sketch from Cindy…

    Freshly Made Sketches #91

I actually got the idea for this card from the new 2013 Holiday Catalog that will be available July 1st. The base of today’s card is Wisteria Wonder Card Stock. I used a piece of “Vintage” Wisteria Wonder 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon down the right side. The main panel is flagged on the top and the bottom. I stamped the image from the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set in Wisteria Wonder that was stamped off once. The greeting is from the same set and is stamped on a piece of Whisper White that is flagged on the left. A piece of Wisteria Wonder is flagged and mounted to the main panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some silver sequins give the card a little sparkle. I love the monochromatic look of the card and the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set is fast becoming a favorite! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. I hope that you have a blissfully happy Saturday. 🙂

Ahh yes people, it’s FRIDAY! My most favorite day of the week! Work is done (soon) and we will be on to the weekend! I will be in Manhattan tomorrow morning and my friend Kim will be coming home with me. Sunday we have adorable little Savannah’s Christening. It’s going to be a very nice weekend! I hope that you all enjoyed the Control Freaks June Blog Tour yesterday. Thank you for all of you comments!

    Today’s post – Mojo Monday 298, a sketch by Julee Tilman…

    Mojo298

I looked at the sketch and guess what I saw?! For the base of my card I used Very Vanilla Card Stock. The paper is from the Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper Pack. I think that it’s safe to say that this and the Soho Subway DSP are my favorite from the new catalog. I cut out the flags with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and adhered them behind a piece of Crumb Cake. Some Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon is adhered with some Sticky Strip and the bow is my new favorite kind. It’s a little more complicated to make but it looks so nice! The frame is made with some Very Vanilla and the Squares Collection Framelits are used to cut out the middle where another piece of the Epic Day This and That DSP is. The butterflies are cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and adhered with some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. For the greeting I used the Really Good Greeting Stamp Set and stamped it in Calypso Coral Ink. I know, my obsession with the picture frames needs to calm down a little but they look so nice and work for so many things. Thank you very much for taking some time to stop by and see my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for this week. I hope that you have an awesome Friday!! 🙂

  • Control Freaks June Blog Tour

    freakwelcome

Hello peeps, how is your day going so far? Mine is going well. I’m very happy that it’s time for the June Control Freaks Blog Tour!! This month we are featuring products from the new 2013-2014 Catalog. If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the very clever LeeAnn Greff’s blog. Now they were some awesome projects! There are so many great new stamps and accessories I didn’t know where to begin! I have two cards and a 3D project to share with you so lets get to them.

The first card uses an eclectic mix of new goodies. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock and the background and the piece of paper in the frame are from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper Pack. I used the new Filmstrip Stamp, stamped in Basic Gray, on top of the background. In the lower left I used one of the images from the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set stamped in Calypso Coral. I created the frame from Whisper White and cut out the center of the frame with the Squares Collection Framelits Dies. The greeting on the top is from last month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit and the date stamp is the Epic Day This and That Rotary Stamp. I stamped the bird from the Morning Meadow Host(ess) Stamp Set and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The butterfly is from the Papillion Potpourri Stamp Set and is punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Some of the new fun Candy Dots are placed randomly on the card to finish it off. A fun trendy card that uses lots of new goodies!

Control Freaks June Tour Card 1

The second card is a newer style of card called Freestyle Collage and I got the idea from Pinterest. The base is Whisper White Card Stock. I cut the tag and the flag from some of the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper. The frame is made the same way as the first one, using the Squares Collection Framelits and some Pear Pizzaz. The leaves of flower are Creped Filter Paper that I colored with my Sponge Dauber and Melon Mambo Ink. I used my Paper Snips to cut them out and they are adhered behind a Simply Presses Clay Flower that I colored with my Aqua Painter and Night of Navy Ink. In between is some Linen Thread for a little texture. The celebrate is from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set and is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. The you is from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set and is punched out with the Little Labels Punch Pack. A very eclectic mix of styles and texture but I think it works. I love that Stampin’ Up! products lend themselves to so many different styles.

Control Freaks June Tour Card 2

The last project I have for you is made with one of the new Tag a Bag Gift Boxes. The tag is made from Very Vanilla Card Stock and is flagged on the bottom and the top is rounded with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I stamped the & from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set and the For You is form the Bitty Banners Stamp Set and is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. For the flower I used the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch with some Crisp Cantaloupe, they are cut halfway up and some hot glue is used to assemble it. A Very Vintage Designer button is in the middle. One of the mini clothespins from the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit holds some 7/16″ Natural Trim and Linen Thread to the tag and box. The belly band is Crisp Cantaloupe and the greeting is also from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set. I used my Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding Stampin’ Write Markers to color in the stamp and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch. It’s a perfect box to give some cookies to someone special in. 🙂

I hope that you enjoyed my projects for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring products from the new 2013-2014 Catalog. Thank you for stopping by and you are off to see the very talented Robin Spinner’s projects. Enjoy!

  • Paper Craft Crew 47

Happy Wednesday peeps! Half way there to my Friday! I’m a little bummed because my friend Danielle, who I work with, went to Vegas this morning and won’t be back until next week. Work is going to be a little lonely for the next few days. It was warm and muggy here yesterday and then rained in the evening. I think we are supposed to get a stretch of some nice weather so that will be good. Not that I mind the rain, it just means more crafty time! LOL!

Today’s post – Paper Craft Crew Design Team Sketch 47…

    PCCCS047-6-19-2013

I was a little puzzled when I saw this sketch, but after letting it percolate for a bit the card took shape. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. The lower half of the background is Pool Party and the top is a piece from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper Pack. I trimmed a Tea Lace Paper Doily in half for the backing of my sentiment which is from the Four You Stamp Set. I stamped it in Real Red ink on half of a piece of Whisper White that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and pierced the edge with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack. Two flagged pieces of Real Red and So Saffron go on before the doily and I used a piece of adhesive cork sheet across the top. A “Vintage” Brights Basic Designer Button (I knew there was something I forgot to order!) completes the card. I’m loving the colors together and the mix of the doily with the modern deign is fun too! Thank you for visiting me to see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog and see what the other designers have for you. Thanks again and enjoy your day!

  • SUO Challenges 73

Hey hey, what do you say?!?! I try not say the same thing to start every post, it’s not easy! LOL! Monday wasn’t as bad as it usually is. I’m settling into my new job little by little. The weather here was warm with some clouds. I came home last night and played with my creative goodies which as you all know is my favorite way to end the day! I also wanted to take a minute to thank all of my followers, you guys rock!

    Today’s post – SUO Challenges, Patriotic Theme…

    Patriotic Subway Art

We don’t have an image for the challenges but I need one! LOL! My card is a very simple one. The base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped the images from the Daydream Medallions Stamp Set in Real Red and Night of Navy. The stars are from the Simply Stars Stamp Set and are stamped in the same colors and cut out with my Paper Snips. For the greeting I used the Make a Wish Stamp Set, one of my favorites. • Trendy Monday

Boy does that weekend ever go fast! Does it for you too?! I had a very nice day with my daughter yesterday. We “ate fresh” for dinner and then went to Red Mango for dessert. I also got a little color from driving around in the convertible on Saturday. Now that’s multi-tasking, driving and tanning at the same time! LOL!

Today I have a fun card for you. The post is called Trendy Monday because I have become obsessed with these slide frames that are very popular right now. I decided that with a little ingenuity I could create my own! The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I used one of my favorite new stamps the Post Card Stamp for the background. The phone image is from the Timeless Talk Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay. The hello, you is from the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler. Both are behind my slide frames that I made with the Squares Collection Framelits Dies and the 3/16″ Corner Rounder from Basic Gray Card Stock. For some added fun I used the Tape It Stamp Set and stamped them on Vellum Card Stock and cut them out with my Paper Snips for some faux Washi Tape. I love the frames and washi tape, they add some trendy fun to the card and the color combo is quite neat too! Thank you for coming by to see my trendy Monday card, I hope that you enjoyed it and that you all have a good Monday!

  • Paper Players #150 🙂

Hello kiddies! How was your Saturday? Mine was great! I ran some errands and had lunch with a few friends. I had the top down in the car all day, it was gorgeous. I went to see my friend Sandy which always a good time. And, I even got some crafting done too! It was definitely a very nice day indeed. I hope your day was just as good. Thank you all for your comments yesterday, I really do appreciate them and I always reply to each one. Oh, and Happy Fathers Day!!!!

Today, being Sunday, means it Paper Players time! This week we have a Clean and Simple sketch using Bling from Anne Marie…

    Paper Players #150 Bling 6-16-2013

Now who doesn’t like a little bling?! The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Whisper White with the Positively Chevron Background Stamp in Bermuda Bay and adhered it to the card on a tilt. For the frame I used the Squares Collection Framelits Dies to cut the window out and some Subtles Designer Series Paper to fill it in. The image is from the Cycle Celebrations Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and again in Bermuda Bay. I cut the banner out of the Bermuda Bay piece and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the Baked Brown Sugar Piece. The greeting is from the Four You Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones on the soda bottle add my bling. I loved the image of the soda bottle so much that it’s what sold me on the set! Thank you for coming by to see my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s Clean and Simple “Bring on the Bling” challenge from Anne Marie. Head on over to the blog to see the other amazing cards my fellow designers have come up with. Don’t forget to enter one of your cards in the gallery. You could be the next headliner! Have a great Sunday!
