Freshly Made Sketches 232

Well, the weatherman didn’t lie, it was gorgeous here yesterday! We still have a little ways to go in terms of temperatures being a little warmer but I did sit outside in the sun for a little while today and it was glorious! This morning I had one of those I don’t know where to start mornings, aren’t they the best?! I did go over to see Renee at Scrap-A-Latte for a little while. We had a nice little chat and I got some things to make the cards for next week’s class. Long story that we will skip! After that I hung out with Daniel and then had dinner with the fam. Today I’m hoping that it’s nice again because I want to spend some time outside! Maybe even top down warm! Fingers crossed!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 232

Wow! Is that clean and simple or what?! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The feathers are cut out using the Simon Says Stamp Feathers Craft Dies. I adhered some Washi Tape to a piece of Solar White 80lb and cut two out from the front and one from the back so that they all wouldn’t face the same direction. They are adhered to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. My strip of Vellum is coated on the bottom with Versa-Mark and then heat embossed with Ranger Silver Embossing Powder. A thin strip of Foam Tape behind the lineย adheres it to the card. The greeting is a piece of Real Red that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Thanks Craft Die and adhered to the Vellum with more Multi-Matte Medium. A scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Silver and Sand Sequins and a few Queen & Co. Red Rhinestones Finishes of the card with a little bling! I love that Washi Tape and for the life of me I can’t remember where I got it! Washi problems! Must start labeling more things! LOL! I hope that you like my cardย for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thanks for sharing a little of your Saturday with me! Have a fantastic day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. What a great card, Justin. I love that washi tape on the feathers, so cool. The strip of silver embossing on the bottom of the vellum really grounds it plus giving a place to adhere it. The real red “thanks” with the red rhinestones and sequins are the topping on the cake! Thanks for the great tip about cutting one feather from the back to have it go the other direction. I think the weather is going to be very nice this weekend. Enjoy a ride with the top down!

    1. Thanks HJ! I have missed my feathers! LOL! I was going to do some spattering on them but the washi was easier! I also love the way some red always gives a nice pop on a card! I’m hoping that it’s warm enough for some top down driving today! Have a great day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I love what you did with such a simple sketch. I say ditto to what HJ said! I sat on our deck the last couple of days enjoying our Ohio River view with only one coal barge going by. The river is up and running. I even managed to go inside and make a couple of cards! Monday I have to go for a bone marrow biopsy… Ugh! I’ll let you know what’s going on. Results take about ten days. Meanwhile, enjoy the beautiful weather and keep smiling and blogging! Love you, Nancy B

    1. Thanks Nancy! Love those super simple sketches! Sounds like you had a very nice day! Good luck on Monday! I’ll be thinking of you! You enjoy the heck out of your Saturday! Love you too!! XO ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Hi Justin:

I’ve seen that particular Washi tape at both JoAnn’s and at Michael’s so maybe you picked it up at one of those stores? I never thought of putting the Washi tape onto card stock and then using my dies to cut it out. I love when you teach me new stuff like that. AND I’m thrilled to see you using feathers again. You did a fab job with this card and, of course, the sequins are the perfect added touch.

Beautiful here today also. I will spend the afternoon preparing the rest of the stuff for the card class I’m giving at the Care Center when I go to CT. Simple can sometimes be harder than complicated I’m finding out. LOL

Good luck on Monday Nancy, will be thinking about you. Justin you have yourself a Superlative Saturday. Love and hugs to you my friend. XXOO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
Ahh… maybe that’s where I got it!! I’ll have to check the next time I’m in there! Love to die cut washi, just need the right size die! I have missed my feathers but the sequins are always there! LOL!
It’s nice and sunny here! You are right, sometimes it so much harder to make a nice simple card! You’ll get it done!

  5. Oh my gosh! I L-O-V-E this card . . . all of the colors just help to define simplicity. I’ve die cut washi tape on card stock before but never thought about the feathers. Thanks for enlightening me. I think I just might have to share this one on my blog, too!
