Fab Friday 32

Happy Black Friday! Did you do any midnight shopping? I was good and stayed home, I had too much other stuff going on yesterday! I finished cutting out the pieces for the additional bookmarks for work, I just have to assemble them this morning. I also didn’t end up staying home for Thanksgiving. My good friend Sandy invited me to her house for dinner with her family. I had a wonderful time and she is an amazing cook. I don’t think I will have to eat at all today! LOL! I hope that all of you had a very nice Thanksgiving too!

Not only is today Black Friday but it’s also time for Fab Friday! This time around we have a color combo for you…

Fab Fri 32 Colors 11-29-2013

I had a vision of what I wanted my card to look like, I just had no idea how much I would end up pulling out to get it that way! My card base is Coastal Cabana Card Stock and the background is a piece of Real Red that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up I flagged a piece of Gumball Green and adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now for the collage which starts off with a Tea Lace Paper Doily. I used some old and some new stamps to create the collage and whole bunch of punches! In there are stamps from the “Vintage” Tags ‘Til Christmas, Best of Christmas, Very Merry Tags, “Vintage” Stitched Stockings and Festive Flurry Stamp Sets and the Christmas Tagables Photopolymer Stamp Set. To punch them out I used the “Vintage” Large Tag, Ornament and Stocking Builder, Decorative Label, Petite Curly Label, Mosaic, Christmas Ornament, 7/8″ Scallop Circle and 1″ Circle Punches. Now that’s a lot of punches and stamps! LOL! They are all stamped in Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Gumball Green. Oh, and there is a snowflake from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits peeking out too! I really do love the randomness of the collage look and yes, it’s a lot of product but it’s also a lot of fun! Thank you for checking in with me to see my Design Team card for the Fab Friday color challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what my talented teammates have done with the colors and enter one of your creations in the gallery so we can see your take! I hope that you enjoy your shopping if you are doing any and have a Fab Friday! 🙂

Paper Players 170

Oh weekend, why must you move so quickly?! Heather and I went to the walk yesterday morning but we had to leave early, it was freezing and Heather didn’t feel well. I came home and got some things done around the house and then my friend Lisa text me to see if I wanted to go to the movies. We had some dinner and then went to see Enders Game. It was a really good movie! I love science fiction and I really like it when there is a lesson hidden in there. If you enjoyed Avatar and District 9 I think you like Enders Game!

If it’s Monday then it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week Sandy has chosen a wildlife theme…

Paper Players #170

I wanted something simple and I knew which stamp I wanted to use so this is what I came up with. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. All of my stamping is done on a piece of Very Vanilla. I stamped the Woodgrain Background Stamp in Sahara Sand. The deer is from the Remembering Christmas Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse. I used the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set for the greeting and the snowflakes, stamped in Midnight Muse too. Like I said, a very simple card. I love the images together with the Woodgrain Stamp and I have already expressed my love for the Endless Wishes Set! Thanks for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players woodland theme challenge from Sandy. Have a great Monday! 🙂

Fab Friday 30

If you are reading this post, it means I’ve successfully gotten up on time to be at the college for work at 6:45 AM. My usual commute time is 10 minutes but this morning it’s been extended to 45, which does not make me a happy person. Thus, my usual enthusiasm for Friday is at a lull today. Hopefully I’ll make it through the day and I’ll be able to post again tomorrow. Only time will tell. LOL! My apologies once again for yesterday’s mishap with my mixed up stamp sets. Thanks again to Mary for pointing it out!

There is one good thing about today, it’s Fab Friday! This week we have a timely fall color challenge for you…

Fab Fri 30 Colors 11-1-2013

The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. To create the background I used my Window Sheet mask and I sponged some Crushed Curry onto Very Vanilla. It’s mounted to a piece of Crushed Curry and then adhered to the card base. My three ornaments are from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set and are stamped in Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and Old Olive. They are all punched out with the Christmas Ornament punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Down in the right corner is the greeting from my new favorite stamp set, the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped it in Old Olive and Cajun Craze. I really do like the sunburst effect and apparently I’m not the only one that likes the Endless Wishes set because it’s on backorder! Thanks very much for coming by today to see my Design Team card for this week’s Fab Friday color challenge. Be sure to stop by the blog and see what the other talented designers have come up with. Pals Paper Arts 177

Yesterday turned out just as planned! I went into Manhattan to take my friend Kim home and my friend Andrew (the one that made the card) came along. We had some lunch at the diner. After lunch we left Kim and headed Downtown. We made stops at the Apple Store 5th Avenue (The Cube) and then headed over to Park Avenue to walk over to Grand Central Terminal. The middle island in the street on Park Avenue has been host to some really great art. The following are pictures of two of the metal sculptures that are currently on display by artist Albert Paley. You can read more about him here.

Park Ave Sculpture 1

Park Ave Sculpture 2

The first one looks like a tree to me and the second one looks a little like a caterpillar. After that we stopped by the Apple Store in Grand Central and then took the subway down to Chinatown and wandered around there for a while. I was home by 8:00 and Taylor and I watched Now you See Me which was pretty good. Definitely a very good day!

My post for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This time we have a sketch from the MDS wonder Nicole Watt…

PPA 177

I love it! Nice and simple. I just got some new goodies so I decided to use them on my card. The base of the card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. The next layer is a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock. The top panel is another piece of Midnight Muse and I used the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set and some Encore Metallic Silver ink to stamp the snowflakes. To give them a frosty look I heat embossed them with some Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The greeting is stamped in Midnight Muse on Sahara Sand and I flagged the right side. I really like the way the Encore Metallic Silver Ink looks with the Clear Embossing Powder over the top. Thank you for coming by today to see my Manhattan pictures and my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. I love to have you stop by and I hope you have a lovely Sunday! 🙂

Catherine & Cathy Create Back to School Blog Hop

CCCBlogHop_Aug2013-001

Happy Thursday peeps! How is it going so far this week? Mine is not too bad, lots going on but that’s the norm no?!?! First I have another birthday wish to send out to my friend Danielle, Happy Birthday Danielle! I know you are on vacation but I miss you and will glad when you are back!!

Today is the Catherine & Cathy Create Blog Hop for August. This month features Back to School projects. I’m hoping that you have arrived from Tiz Barnes blog, didn’t she have some amazing goodies to share?! I was a little stumped as to what to make. I just did a card a little while ago that used the only set that I have that is school related. I was on the phone with my friend Brian, you know him as Stamp with Brian, and he said look at it from a different perspective. So I thought about it for a while and then I remembered that Staples commercial from a few years ago, the one where they are playing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and the parents are gleefully dancing through the aisles as they fill up the shopping card to with school supplies. I laughed and thought maybe I should make a different kind of Back to School card so here it is!

CCC Blog Hop

The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock. The background is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Dictionary  Background Stamp in Pistachio Pudding and mounted it on a piece of Baked Brown Sugar. In the center is another piece of Baked Brown Sugar that I cut out with the Deco Labels Framelits Collection Dies. On it are two champagne glasses that are from the Embellished Events Stamp Set and are stamped in So Saffron and cut out with my Paper Snips. I used some Basic Jewels Rhinestones for the bubbles and a little bling. The greeting at the top is from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set and is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. For the back to school I used the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set and flagged the ends. So there you have it! My Back to School card for all of the parents that get some time in their day back. All of the moms that can now maybe craft a little more with the kids at school. LOL! Thanks for hopping by to see my project for the Catherine & Cathy Create Blog Tour. I hope that you got a little smile out of the card. Now you are off to see Christine Wells, she has some cool projects for you so off you go! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 51 & More Convention Pics

Hello all! It’s kind of nice that it’s Wednesday already! I think I need every Monday off… how do you think that would go over at work?! Not well I’m afraid! I want to welcome all of my new followers and thank you all for your comments yesterday. My friend Brian was very kind to me in his post yesterday. We did have an amazing time and I can wait to go and see him in Atlanta soon.

So I know that I mentioned that I was lucky enough to get to do the some of the display samples at Convention this year. They put up a nice board to thank us and will you just look at the amazing company I had! WOW!

Conv 2013 Disp Stamp TY

And the super nice Andrea Withers was the one who organized it all and here I am with her before the crowds got in!

It was so much fun to make the samples and I hope to get to do it again next year!

Now on to today’s post which is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge…

PCCCS051 7-17-2013

It’s funny how sometimes you look at a sketch with flowers and you see a lighthouse! LOL! The base of my card is Night of Navy Card Stock. The background is created with a piece of Raspberry Ripple that I embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I did the same with a piece of Whisper White and backed that with a piece of Night of Navy. Next I adhered a piece of Raspberry Ripple 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back before adhering it to the base. All of the stamped images are from the Settin’ Sail Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Night of Navy. The boat, lighthouse and banner are cut out with my Paper Snips, the sentiment in the middle is cut out with the Circle Collection Framelits Dies, The wheel is punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch and finally the lower greeting is punched out with the Hexagon Punch. A strip of raspberry Ripple is behind the banners and a flagged piece is behind the center greeting. They are all adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like all of the fun elements in the Settin’ Sail Set and the colors are pretty neat together too! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Paper Craft Crew card for this week’s sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what the other team members have to inspire you with and enter your card in the gallery. Here’s to a sunny happy day! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 92

Good morning! I’m a little late with my post because I was out a little late last night! I got most of what I wanted to accomplish done yesterday and had a great time visiting my friends on Fire Island! It turned out to be a very nice day and I’m looking forward to doing it again! How was your Saturday?

Today’s post – Freshly Made Sketches 92, a sketch from Jen B….

Freshly Made Sketches #92

I decided that I wanted a super clean and simple card and this is what I came up with. The base of the card Real Red Card Stock. I used a piece of Whisper White for the background and adhered a piece of the I Am Me Designer Series Paper on the left. For my curved line used a piece of Soft Suede. The stamps on the right are from the Wanderlust Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Soft Suede. The greeting is cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a few red sequins to the map for a little shine. You cold also used the sequins as placeholders on the map to show where you have already been adventurers! Thank you for stopping by to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. I hope you all have a very nice Sunday!
