SUO Challenges 115

Yesterday was another beautiful day here in Florida! It was around 70 degrees. We had waffles with fresh strawberries and bacon for breakfast and I sat out on the Lanai and just relaxed for a while in the morning talking to Germaine. She had a Paper Pumpkin class with a bunch of ladies and I got to participate. We had a lot of fun! I was going to post the projects today but the Wi-Fi in the hotel at Disney is painfully slow so I’ll try again tomorrow. I left Germaine’s around 4:15 and drove up to The Villages to go and meet Maggie and her friend Carmel. We went out to dinner and then Maggie and I drove down to Disney to stay at the All Stars Sports resort. We stayed up late talking and laughing. Today we are going to go and stop by a Scrapbook store in Lakeland and then go to Epcot this afternoon. Should be a great day!!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Valentine wishes challenge. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Pink Pirouette cut to 4″ x 5 1/2″. I used the Hearts Collection Framelits to cut out the heart from the middle and adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some more hearts are cut out with the Framelits from Melon Mambo and Smoky Slate along with some that are punched out with the “Vintage” Heart from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. The are adhered around the card with SNAIL and Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the You Plus Me Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Smoky Slate. I used one of the Hearts Collection Framelits to flag the end and that too is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A fun bright Valentine! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Valentine Wishes challenge. Stop by the blog and see what the other design team members have for your inspiration and add you card to the gallery! I wish you all a magical Tuesday and thank you for visiting! 🙂

Yes, we were supposed to move yesterday at work, did it happen, nope! I got in and all of the stuff in my old area was moved around but my new office had no ceiling and no lights. That would make it a little difficult to work in there so I stayed in my old space and we’ll try again tomorrow. After work I headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to meet up with Renee and Andrew. He is going to be working there for two days next week while Renee is at CHA. Andrew will also be coming by my office tomorrow to help out with a Suicide Prevention Web Site that I will be designing. He is going to give his input as to what he thinks will appeal social media wise to the younger crowd. His first big time corporate meeting! LOL! It was nice that I volunteered him and he graciously accepted! 🙂

Every week Stampin’ Up! has new weekly specials and here are the ones for this week!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Project Life challenge. All you have to do is use something from Stampin’ Up!’s Project Life range in your project. I am by no means a scrapbooker but I do have some of the accessory packs so I thought that I would make a simple note card size winter themed shaker card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. To create the shaker I used one of the acetate cards from the Hello December Project Life Accessory Pack behind a frame of Lost Lagoon. I backed it with Lost Lagoon and sprinkled in some of the snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins Pack before adhering the frame to the base with some foam tape, a double layer so they would move around a lot! The shiny red dots and the HELLO are from the Hello December Project Life Accessory Pack. Love the nice shine to them! Like I said a nice simple shaker card that would work well for a bunch of different occasions. You know how I love a shaker card and I hope that you you enjoyed it too! There you have my card for the SUO Challenges Project Life challenge. Take a minute to stop by the blog to see what the other designers have done and make a little card or scrapbook layout and enter it in the gallery! Thanks you very much for taking some time out of your day to come by and see me! Have a fun Tuesday! 🙂

My day yesterday was pretty quiet until the evening. I got a lot accomplished at work which is always good. Had some dinner, came home and sat down to make a few cards. Around 8:00 I got a call from Brian asking if could some over and stay at the house with Izzy because Savannah fell down the stairs. Off I went! Thankfully she was ok other than a nice lump on her head. That has to be a little frightening to be that little and go down an entire flight of stairs. Those little ones are tough though aren’t they? I think that maybe I should get her together with Daniel! They both see to be a bit accident prone! Today is also two of favorite people’s birthdays! Happy birthday to Kim, one of the sweetest people that I know and to my friend Brian King, another amazing person! I hope that you both have a wonderful day!

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!:

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Merry & Happy challenge. I decided on some very non-traditional but very happy colors for my card! The base of today’s card is Soft Sky Card Stock and the background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss that I embossed with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two banners are Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon, I used the Banners Framelits to cut them out. I stamped the happy from the Endless Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Blackberry Bliss. Then the Lost Lagoon banner is tucked behind the Soft Sky one and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My two tress are cut out with one of the elements from the Snowflake Card Thinlit from Mossy Meadow. I used a Versa-Marker to dot them and heat embossed them with some Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The HOLIDAYS is from the Watercolor Winter Too Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with my Paper Snips. I adhered the trees and the greeting to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A simple fun and bright Holiday card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Merry & Happy challenge from SUO Challenges. Don’t forget to swing by the blog and see what the rest of the team has done and enter your card in the gallery! I thank you for your visit and hope that you all have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Now that was an early morning yesterday! To be somewhere at 6:00AM is even early for me! The rest of the day was uneventful and I was fine with that. I left work at 3:30 and found out that Sam Smith was on Ellen so I got to watch that. Last night was burgers on the grill with some fries. Yum! It started to rain around 5:30 so I came home and hid in the Stampin’ Galley for a while. I got a few things done and then watched a little TV. This week is a busy week for me. Tomorrow night Andrew and I are going to see the Hunger Games – Mocking Jay Part 1 then on Wednesday I have the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog reveal in NJ with Sandy and on Friday I have a birthday party to go to. Not that it’s not fun stuff, but a busy week!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Tag You’re It challenge. Just use a tag on your project, we know how I love a tag! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut a chunk out of a piece of Garden Green and adhered it over the DSP. My tag is a piece of Sahara Sand and I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to create it. The greeting is from the Mingle All the Way Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I tied a piece of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through the top and used some Crystal Effects to adhere the long ends in place and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhered the tag to the card. A few red sequins finish off the card with a little shine. I’m really loving the negative die cutting and yes, even I can use traditional Christmas colors every once in a while! LOL! I hope that you like my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Tag You’re It challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what the other Design Team members have for inspiration for you! Thanks a lot for coming by today, I hope that you all have a nice Tuesday and I’ll be sure to let you know how the movie was tomorrow! 🙂

SUO Challenges 110

Just as I suspected my inbox was full yesterday morning at work. I did manage to get through it though so we are ready for another fun filled day today! It was rainy and gloomy here all day today, sort of like my mood as of late. I was reading through the comments yesterday and I want to thank you all. Yes, I love to share my creativity with you but I also share a lot about my life and that is one of the most important parts of this blog to me. The connection that I have with so many of you. You are there with words of encouragement and support and that means so much to me. We have shared a lot with each other and I look forward to it each day as I hope that you continue to as well. That being said I am hoping that what is affecting me will work itself out. I have to have faith that it will, that’s enough of the somberness for now. I do have a fun little bit of information to share, I have over 40,000 followers on Pinterst! WHAT?! I still can’t believe it. So if you don’t follow me head on over and do. It’s jrk912. 🙂

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Marker Fun challenge. I wanted to do something other than color with them so this is what I came up with. The base for today’s card is a piece of Elegant Eggplant Card Stock. I cut a piece of Watercolor Paper to 4″ x 5 1/4″ for my background. All of the images are from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set from the 2014 Holiday Supplement Catalog. The snowflakes are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To add the color to the background I took the second largest Clear Block E and used my Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Markers to color the block with stripes of alternating color. and a little spray of water from my Stampin’ Spritzer so they would absorb into the Watercolor Paper easier. I left the block on the table and pressed the Watercolor Paper into it, lifted it off and misted the block again and repeated the process. After I lifted it up the second time I was happy with the results. I stamped the greeting on Watercolor Paper too in Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy and used the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits to cut it out. It’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and some Basic Jewels Rhinestones are adhered over the dots. I backed the paper with a piece of Night of Navy and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up off the base. A few Frosted Sequins adhered to the centers of the snowflakes with Crystal Effects finish the card. I love the way the colors turned out on the Watercolor Paper, it almost gives a windy feel to it. I really hope that you enjoyed my card for the SUO Challenges Marker Fun challenge. Be sure and stop by the blog to see what the rest of the design team have done and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the challenge. As always, I appreciate your visit and hope that you have a very nice Tuesday! 🙂

Hey there! How was your Monday? Mine was not too bad. I got to do my 2 1/2 hour monthly errand yesterday, you know how I love that! I had a Stamp-A-Stack at Sandy’s house last night. I love to do them, gets 16 of my Christmas cards made! Plus we always have a good laugh! It’s getting chillier here and darker earlier, not my favorite time of year. I heard from some of you that you got some snow over the weekend! Yikes! It’s way too early for that!! If you could keep that sort of weather to the north or west of me I would greatly appreciate it!

It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for this week’s deals from Stampin’ Up!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our “A Thanks for Anything” challenge. I send out a lot of Thank You’s and sometimes you need a card that is easy to make but still has some impact to it, that’s what I tried to accomplish with my card. The base is Basic Black Card Stock. I stamped the large Thank You from the Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black and then offset the image slightly and heat embossed it in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Whisper White. The sequins are from the Hello Darling Stamp Set and are also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I backed the panel with a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock before adhering it to the base. I like the shadow effect and the gold and black together. I hope that you agree that I accomplished my goal for a simple card with some impact! Take a few minutes to stop by the SUO Challenges blog and see what the other design team members have done. Thanks for visiting with me and enjoy your Tuesday! 🙂

Hmm… so lets see, I had two blog tours in a row so I did’t get to tell you about Sunday! LOL! Sunday was a fun day! I met Michael at the Scrapbook store at noon. Dyan Reaveley was there teaching a class. She is a lovely English lady that has a line of stamps, stencils, ink, etc. called Dylusions with Ranger. Michael introduced me to her and we chatted for a bit. You can see Dyan’s blog HERE. After that we went to lunch in Farmingdale and there just happened to be a street fair so we took a peek that too. From there we stopped at Michaels and then by Kim and Brian’s for a bit. Later on I stopped by Andrew’s to drop off some vitamins, he’s not feeling well and has a busy week ahead of him so we are hoping to keep the cold at bay! As if being sick wasn’t enough he dropped his iPhone in water and came by to get some rice to put it in. Fingers crossed that all is well when he turns it on this morning. Everything always happens at once doesn’t it?! So all in all I had a great weekend and got to see lots of peeps which always makes me happy!!

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!…

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our The Treats the Thing challenge. I decided that I needed to make another shaker something so this is what I came up with. I took one of the Tiny Treat Boxes and covered the four sides with some All is Calm Designer Series Paper. I decided that the top was a good place for my shaker and I had just gotten some really snowy looking glitter (I know, I don’t really like glitter, but I’ll make an exception every once in a while!) so it needed to be a wintry scene on a very small scale! I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Window Sheet and some Lost Lagoon. One of the Shaker Frames is used to hold my glitter. The images are from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the trees in Pear Pizzaz and my Santa and reindeer are markered with Real Red and Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Markers. The Circles Collection Framelits cut out the images and complete the shaker frame. My tag is a piece of Lost Lagoon that is punched out with the Note Tag Punch. I heat embossed the sentiments in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder from the Cheerful Tags Photopolymer Stamp Set and a piece of White Baker’s Twine tucked under the shaker holds it in place. A fun little shaker box to put a sweet little gift in! That’s my project for the SUO Challenges The Treats the Thing challenge. Let’s see what fun projects you can come up with, head on over to the blog for some more inspiration and upload yours to the gallery! I hope you enjoyed my little shaker box and I thank you for coming by for my little recap. Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Howdy peeps! My Monday was a typical Monday, I wasn’t in the best of moods and work didn’t help. I was glad to come home and then I realized that I had forgotten my iPad on my desk. I called my friend Danielle and she offered to drop it off on her way home. That was really nice of her since I don’t live on the way home for her. Funny how a little random act of kindness can turn your day around! I had card class last night and that is always a laugh. Love seeing everyone and just having a good time! I have a few more Manhattan pics for you today. The first one is the Lennox Hill Healthplex on 14th Street and 7th Avenue. I just think that its a really neat building!

Lennox Hill Healthplex

The next building is on 16th Street and 6th Avenue, all of the other buildings on the street are much older and this one is just a lot taller and much more modern than the rest of them. It sticks out a lot!

West 16th & 6th

It has a very odd angled front, I wonder how you get blinds for those windows?!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Out in the Woods theme. I immediately thought of the Life in the Forest Stamp Set, a little obvious right?! LOL! The card base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky. The greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used a piece of Old Olive for the hills and just took my Paper Snips and cut a wavy line though them and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount them to the card and each other. All of the images are from the Life in the Forest Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, cut out with my Paper Snips and colored in with Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate and Old Olive Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I used one or two Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them to the card and complete my little scene. I really do love coloring in the stamps with the Blendabilities, it gives it such a great look! I hope that you enjoyed my cute little forest scene card for the SUO Challenges Out in the Woods challenge. Yesterday wasn’t so bad for a Monday and I don’t get to say that often! Work was the usual busy but manageable. Little Daniel was at my parents for dinner and he was a little better about his food this time. He has some teeth now so his smile is even better! His birthday is coming up so I’m going to help his mom Erika with the decorations, that should be fun! After dinner I went over to see my friends Brian & Kim and the wee ones. Heather stopped by quick too. Love getting to see so many peeps all at once! It got a little chilly here last night, I guess just to remind us that Fall is officially here. So long summer, Just so you know I wouldn’t mind it if you came back for a bit, just until April! LOL!

It’s Tuesday so here the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up! and there are some good ones!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Autumn colors challenge. I did some fall cards over the weekend so I wanted to use some different stuff. The card starts with a base of Hello Honey Card Stock. I stamped the greeting from the Truly Grateful Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar in the lower right hand corner. The panel is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp in Baked Brown Sugar. I used the Spiral Border Punch along the top and then used the Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Attachment and the Perforating Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade across the top for a more authentic notebook paper feel! My leaf is cut out with the Autumn Accents Bigz Die from a piece of Tangelo Twist. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two of the Autumn Wooden Essentials are glued to each other and to the leaf with Multi-Purpose Glue. To finish things off I tied a piece of Linen Thread in a bow around the top of the leaf. A nice simple fall card that would make a great thank you card! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Autumn colors. Stop by the blog and check out the other projects and make one for us to see! Thank you so very much for stopping by and enjoy your Tuesday! 🙂

I made the best of my Monday, like I said no point in dwelling on the negative! Work just keeps getting crazier but it is what is. I just keep telling myself that it all gets better once it going home time! I made my escape and went to my parents for dinner. My little man Daniel was there cute as ever. His mom was feeding him and makes the cutest faces when he gets something that he doesn’t really like! But he still eats it and makes the face ever time! LOL! After dinner I went over to Sandy’s house for card class. It’s always a laugh and I’m usually the jokester! When I got home Taylor had stopped by and gave me some more props for my pictures, Christmas stuff which I needed. I made some coffee and sat down at the computer to catch up on comments and emails. Then I get caught up looking at stuff on-line and before I know it it’s midnight!

The post that I have for you today is for the SUO Challenges blog. The rest of the Design Team and I have created projects for this challenge which is Embellishments! What do you think that I used?! My card begins with a base of Blackberry Bliss Card Stock and my background is a piece of Pistachio Pudding, although in the pictures it looks a bit Coastal, that I adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals! I used the Striped Scalloped Thinlit to cut out some Gold Foil Sheet and adhered it to the lower half of the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A piece of Gold Baker’s Twine helps break up the transition to the plain card stock. My tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Pistachio Pudding. I heat embossed the ornaments in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched the tree out with the Tree Punch. To back it I cut out a piece of Blackberry Bliss with the Chalk Talk Framelits and stamped a stamp from the “Vintage” Jolly Old Saint Nick Stamp Set in Encore Gold Metallic Ink. The tree and the tag are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Good Greetings Host Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow up in top left corner. Three 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins are randomly adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue on the top right. Yes, I did use some sequins, shocking huh?! LOL! There is my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Embellishments challenge. Take a minute and go over to the blog to see what the reset of the Designers have done and enter you card in the gallery! I hope that you enjoyed my card and that you shave a Terrific Tuesday! Thank you for your visit! 🙂
