Paper Craft Crew 90

How are you all doing today? Midweek is always a good thing and I’m always much better by this point. Work, busy as always. I did have a nice evening. A little computer reformatting, some Friday’s with Andrew, not bad for a Tuesday. Tomorrow promises to be a long day. At some point during the day, I have to run out to MacArthur Airport and set up a television because we’re having an art exhibit there. And then tomorrow tonight is the dinner dance. 8 AM to around 10 PM, F-U-N! My boss Nancy knows of my crafty ways and shared a picture of the Easter table that her and her husband created for their niece and nephew for Easter. Nancy is a very nice person, and I’m not just saying that because she’s my boss, she really is a nice person. She loves those two little kids so much and I think by looking at the picture, you can see just how much she loves them by how much effort her and her husband put in to this project. Have a look for yourself…

Those kids are going to have quite the sugar rush, huh?! LOL! That is A LOT of Peeps! Pretty impressive display though, don’t you think? I thought you would all enjoy that. And Nancy was quite proud of it, as she should be!

Today I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS090 Sketch 4-23-2014

My card starts off with a base of Coastal Cabana Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of Soft Suede that I punched on the left side with the Chevron Border Punch and I slipped some Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper behind it before I adhered it to the card. My oval, greeting and flower with the stem all come from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set. The oval is stamped in Coastal Cabana and is cut out with the Ovals Collections Framelits (a little piece is hacked off the left side). I stamped the “Oh, Hello” on the oval in Soft Suede and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the flower, I used Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The flagged piece of Pear Pizzazz is stamped with a greeting from the Hip Notes Stamp Set in Soft Suede. The flower on the left is from the Petite Petals Stamp Set, stamped in Wisteria Wonder and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. Finally, my arrow is from the Label Card Thinlits Dies and is cut out from a piece of Pear Pizzazz. I’m loving the funky mix of colors and I like the way that the Afternoon Picnic DSP peeks through the punched chevrons. There you have it, my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! I hope you enjoyed it. Now take a minute to stop by the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the sketch. Don’t forget to participate so we can see what you do, too! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and I hope you have a happy Hump Day! 🙂

  1. Wow. That is some Easter spread! Nancy and her husband appear to be crafty people. As for their niece and nephew – they are lucky! As for your card, it is beautiful. Great job!

  2. Oh my gosh – That display was really too beautiful to take apart (or eat your way through)! I wonder how the kids parents felt about all that candy and if they will ever talk to Nancy again? LOL I bet those kids could have run the Boston Marathon in half an hour after eating a bunch of that. Doesn’t matter – that is what nieces, nephews and grand-kids are for – spoiling, then sending home with their Mom and Dad! Really an amazing display and thanks for sharing it with us Justin.

Today’s card is really fab! I don’t know why I don’t think of things like using the punch on the card front and backing the punched area with DSP! Thanks for reminding me of that. I always seem to punch and attach to the front. I also like the way you cut the oval flat to the side of the card, it really drew my eye to it. Great job Justin.

I just want to let you know how fun it is to read your posts. Nice to “get to know you” through your little daily blurbs. I am so disappointed I won’t be able to get to Manhattan this trip to CT. I’ve got my fingers crossed for my October trip when I participate in the Breast Cancer walk in Hartford, CT.

    1. I agree Grace! It would have been hard for me to take apart all of that hard work! LOL! I’m sure that the kids had only a small portion of the goodies from the table, Nancy is a good aunt! Yes, Nancy definitely spoils those two little ones, but like you said that’s what they are for! I’m happy you enjoyed the card too! I try things and sometimes they work and I share and sometimes they don’t. It’s a fun sketch, love to have a good starting point!
It makes me so happy to share some time with you every day! I enjoy reading your comments. I do hope that we get to meet up in the city, it will be so much fun! I’ll keep my fingers crossed too! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin! Great card! This is a fantastic use of the Chevron punch! I’m a little sad that Oh Hello is going away. I’ve had it for a while and just used it a week or so ago. Lots of my favorites are on the retired list but I know there will be so much new that I’ll love! Oh my—that Easter display is awesome. My teeth hurt from looking at all that sugar! 😉 I would have loved to see a picture of the kids’ faces when they saw that! It reminds me of a Peeps contest we had at work a few years ago…there was a “peep” show, Peeps at the Jersey Shore, Peeps at Lambeau Field, people got really creative. Have a great day Justin and thanks again for sharing your world with us!

    1. Hey Karen!
Thank you! Yes, I will miss Oh, Hello too. I love the type in the greetings and the elements are great too. Lot’s of my favorites on that list as well, shockingly there are some on there that I don’t own! The new stuff will definitely make up for it but we can be a little sad for the time being! That definitely was a lot of sugar, but a great display for sure! The kids faces were probably lit up like the sun, mine was when I saw the picture! The Peeps contest sounds like great fun! Did you take any pictures of that?! I love having you stop by and hope that you had a great day! 🙂

  4. Love the card Justin… and that table! Amazing, your boss did such a great job… Looks like you are surrounded with crafty people 🙂 Sounds like you have a busy rest of the week at work. Enjoy it all 🙂

    1. Thank you Kay! She really did an awesome job! I am definitely surrounded by some talented individuals and am thankful for that! Glad you enjoyed the card too! The rest of the week should be much better after today and it’s almost Friday! What can be better than that! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin, love your card. I didn’t get the chevron punch yet, but now after seeing your card I think I need to get that punch added to my collection. 🙂 The Easter display is amazing! Do you think your boss would want to adopt me? LOL!

    1. Thank you Jodie! Love that Chevron Punch, especially the negative of it. LOL! She really is an amazing person, I think I have dibs on the adoption first! LOL! 🙂

  6. Oh my goodness Justin, what is MORE crafty and creative, your card or that mega-scrumptious display of sugar and fun!!! Nancy and her husband sound super-sweet (pun intended, LOL!!) and their table is quite impressive indeed!! 🙂
You are very clever with your Chevron punch… 😉 Oh Hello is one of my favorites that I have used often as well, but I decided last month that I am going to part with it to make room for the NEW!!! Hee hee, that countdown is on!!!
Thank you for sharing a genuinely amazing part of yourself EVERY day, Justin, as I too enjoy getting to know you!!!
    Hugs,
    Laurie

    1. Yes Laurie, that is a lot of craftiness for one post! LOL! They are super sweet! You are a better person than I! I will hold on to the set “just in case” I need it! LOL! The new I’m sure will be great as it always is, I can’t wait to see it! You are my happy part of every day!
