A very happy Thursday to all of my faithful blog readers! We are almost at the end of another week! I made yesterday a better day all around and it was made even better when I got home, I’ll get to that in a minute! I got what I wanted to get accomplished at work and smiled my way through the day. I took my own advice, it helped that I got to run a little errand and enjoy the convertible too! When I got home last night I sat down to go through Pinterest and guess what?! Stampin’ Up! repined my Mojo Monday card from last week! That put a smile on my face. You can see the Pin HERE and the post HERE. I also got my Control Freaks swaps back and that means that I get to share my card for that with you today! I absolutely love the cards today! I don’t usually say that but I think they are both neat! Another thing that should put a smile on all of your faces is that the 2014 Holiday Catalog is live today! Gather up your wish lists and go forth and order! One more thing, if you subscribe to a monthly Paper Pumpkin subscription by September 10th you will get 50% off your first two months! All you have to do is visit the Paper Pumpkin site by clicking HERE and enter in promo code HALFOFF2. As an added bonus I have an extra August Paper Pumpkin kit. If you subscribe by September 10th I’ll pick a name from the list of new subscribers on September 11th at random and ship you the kit that I have for FREE! The kits keep getting better and better, don’t miss out on this special offer to give them a try!
Let’s start today’s post off with my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…
Tall and Skinny, we know how I love those! I wanted a clean but fun card so this is what I came up with. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. My background consists of a piece of Smoky Slate on the left and Lost Lagoon on the right. The panel in the middle begins with a piece of Soft Sky that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered to the card with SNAIL. On top of that is a piece of Whisper White with some All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut out the center and adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The “snow” and the snowflake are cut out in Silver Foil Sheet and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using the Snowflake Card Thinlits. I mounted the silver “snow” to the woodgrain with itty bitty pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals and then used some Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere the Dazzling Diamonds on top but slightly lower. A strip of Silver Foil Sheet with a thin strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper goes across the lower portion and the snowflakes are adhered on top of one another to that. A few of the snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins are randomly adhered to the woodgrain and three of the silver ones in the lower right corner. I really love all of the sparkle with the blues and how the center panel just comes alive! The card has a lot of detail but I think was well worth it! I hope that you agree and that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge!
Now on to my card for the Control Freaks 2014 Holiday Catalog swap. I was siting in the Stampin’ Galley trying to think what I was going to make for my swap card. I was doing my usual taking out and putting back of goodies when I came across the Mustache Framelit. As I looked at it I started to see a mask. I then tried a few different ways to cut out the eye holes and settled on the tiny oval that comes with the Chalk Talk Framelits. The base of the card is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Tangelo Twist. I used the Confetti Stars Border Punch along the top edge before adhering it to the base. The mask is the Mustache Framelit. I stamped one of the feathers from the Four Feathers Stamp Set in Versa-Mark on Vellum Card Stock and heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Feathers Framelits are used to cut it and a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper out and a Glue Dot holds them to the back of the mask. I adhered the mask with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the greeting is from the Holiday Invitation Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I love the colors and the “mask” is just really neat! I think it would make a pretty cool Halloween party invite!
I really hope that you enjoyed my swap card, I think it’s a fun card and I love that the mustache makes such a neat little mask! There is your double dose of cards for today! Thank you so much for coming by to see them! Have a thoroughly terrific Thursday! 🙂

I am totally “wowed!” by your cards! Love it when creative juices flow and you can step outside of the box…that mask is great!
Thank you so much Stephanie! I love the mask too, so much fun! 🙂
Great cards, Justin! I LOVE the Halloween mask! Don’t you feel so “accomplished” when you find an alternative use for a tool? I do! Very creative snow as well! Just so the real thing doesn’t come visiting for a while!
Thanks very much Melanie! I do feel very accomplished when something clever like the mask happens! Yes, we don’t need any real snow! LOL!
Oh my Justin – where do I even start? The way you backed the glimmer paper with silver foil paper just blew me away. I love the dimension and the combo of it all. The entire card design was absolutely fantastic. I don’t know why I never think to use cut portions of card stock on my cards but the more I see you do it the more I love it. This card is a trophy winner for sure!
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better I see the Halloween card with that mask made from the mustache and the gorgeous feathers. You’re right, you were REALLY on a roll yesterday. Orange and black with gold accents – you can’t get any brighter and more cheerful and yes, more Halloweenie than that. I just love it!
Have yourself a totally fantastic Thursday my friend and thank you for such amazing cards! 🙂
Yeah! Thank you Grace! I had so much fun making these two cards and I’m so happy that you like all of the little details! I a obsessed with the blues for the Holidays, so soft and fun! Hi Justin! You’ve wow’d me again! Both cards are fantastic but since I love Halloween, I’m gonna start with that one! How clever is that mask?? It’s looks exactly like one and the scale of it with the feathers is perfect! And that star punch? So very cool! Love that! Your tall and skinny snow card is just as fantastic! There is a lot to that card but it’s not too much. So pretty with the dazzling diamonds and the foil! Just wonderful cards (again!) today! I’m running into my craft room right now! Have a great day! 🙂
Hello Karen!
Yeah! I love when I get to wow you! The mask was just fun, I love when I have a bunch of swaps to make and I don’t mind because they are just fun! Thank you very much Donna! It’s nice to have your work recognized by the home office! I hope that you had a nice Thursday! 🙂
Justin, you amaze me! First, I love the snow card…love everything about it. Love the wood grain, love the snowflakes and I certainly love love those colors and the word snow! Awesome! But you have taken a rather boring framelit and stamp set (stache) (in my opinion anyway), and turned it into something so cool! Never in a million years would I think to use it as a mask, for Halloween no less! Just great. I am dancing up and down… It’s the first “out of the box” thing I’ve seen using that mustache. Way to go! 🙂
Thanks very much Bobbi! I love the blues for a winter card. I honestly got the Snowflake Card Thinlits just for the words. We need more word dies! The Mustache Framelit was on my must have list, I was pretty happy when I saw the mask though! I’m glad that you did a little happy dance as I did yesterday after reading all of your lovely comments! 🙂
Ooh, I loooove the snow card. So pretty! And that mustache mask is genius.
Thank you very much Sarah! Have a great Friday! 🙂
Love both cards, but that moustache mask is truly inspired – AMAZING!

Congratulations to on your Mojo Monday card being repined by SU, excellent. I am going to take your advice and send in a creation for a challenge.
Hope you have had a great day.
Michelle xo
Thank you Michelle! That’s my job, to wow you! My car does make me happy and soon it won’t be top down weather anymore. I am not looking forward to the winter especially if it’s like last year. I can’t wait to see which challenge you do and what you make! I’m quite excited!! Enjoy your Friday my friend! 🙂 XOXO
This card is quite avant-garde! Pure genius what you did with the mustache. I like it used as a mask! I think your Stampin’ Galley must be a great place for you to go into and stir up a little something special!
Thank you so much Georgie! I do love spending time in the Stampin’ Galley! 🙂
