Another weekend done. It was a good one though. I didn’t end up going into Manhattan yesterday. The trains were all running late and I was worried that because of the wind they might shut down the bridge. I will go in one night this week or next weekend. Speaking of wind it was really windy all day and incredibly cold! They said that tonight’s temperature with the wind chill will be around -20! Now that is cold! Oh Florida! LOL! So instead of heading into the city I picked up Heather and we went over to have some breakfast with Kim and the girls. Heather bought some champagne so we had mimosas. For eats we had whole wheat chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, bacon and raspberry crumble bars. I dropped Heather back off at her house around 1:00 and then came home for a bit before I headed over to see Renee at Scrap-A-Latte. Her son Nicholas was there, he’s a really nice guy. He goes to school in Boston where they have about 80 inches of snow! Again, no thanks! I told him south, you need to head south! LOL! I was there for a few hours and then come home and had dinner with the ‘rents and then crafted for a bit. Not a bad day at all!
And since today is Monday that means that it’s Paper Players time! Before I get to this week’s challenge I want to thank Joanne for choosing me as her pick for last week’s color challenge. And as luck would have it Joanne is the challenge host this week…
Ahh, a bird! I do love a bird! The card for today uses Whisper White Card Stock for the base. A piece of the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Basic Black is the background. My panel is a piece of Coastal Cabana, embossed with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with Whisper White. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. All of the images and greeting are from the Hello Love Host Stamp Set. The bird and greeting are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, the greeting is cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. I used my Soft Sky Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the bird and then cut it out with my Paper Snips. The sun is heat embossed in Crushed Curry on Crushed Curry and also cut out with my Paper Snips. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them all to the panel. Another nice and cheery card to help chase away the Winter as quickly as possible! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Thanks so much for coming by to check in with me! Have a marvelous Monday! 🙂

Cute card! I need to get that set. But…I keep saying that. LOL. Oh, and it is nice to see that you are eating healthy. I totally understand having chocolate chips in the pancakes, eggs, bacon, and raspberry crumble bars. At least you added the “whole wheat” into the pancakes. hahahaha
Thanks Michael! It is a neat set, I’ve used it more that I thought I would! Yes, had to throw in the whole wheat to counteract all of the other suff!! They were delicious!! Have a wonderful day!
I love love love that hello love stamp set and you made just a darling card with it. I cannot believe you did all that fussy cutting. Sure wish they had framelits for that stamp set because I would get them right away. I like your color combo and the embossing folder used here too. Oh heck, I love everything about this card! Great job.
Yes, me too Jamme! Thank you! I do love a little fussy cutting! I think they should have dies for all the stamp sets! So happy that you like the card!! I hope that you had a nice day! 🙂
Hi Justin,
That breakfast sounded yummy! You certainly have a lot of friends to hang out with. That’s great!
Love this card!! At first I thought you dry embossed the sun. The heat embossing gives the same look. Very cool! This is one of my favorite stamp sets. Of course, I say that about a lot of them. 🙂
Hello Gerri!
Yes, breakfast was delicious and friends always make everything better!
Thank you! I like the tone on tone look of the sun! I too love that set! The little bird looks so cute all colored in! Yes, I have a lot of favorites too! 🙂
Nice card today! So cheery for a snowy Monday morning. I love the colors, the embossed sun, and all the fussy cutting. So, I guess that means I like everything about the card! I haven’t used this set yet, but I think it’s time to pull it out. LOL!
Thank you Melanie! We need a little extra cheer on a Monday! I love it when you like everything! Yes, dust it off and give it a go! 🙂
Cute card, Justin! I love the embossed sun and of course that adorable bird. But how do you stay so trim eating meals like you just described? It’s not fair…
Thank you Sandy! It is a really fun set! I am not as trim as I used to be! It must be the pancakes! LOL! 🙂
Love this card Justin – this is one of my favourite bird sets too! I really like the embossed sun and the use of the embossing folder, great inspiration to get me out of a design rut – I always see Christmas trees when I think of this folder!! Congrats on being my PP pick last week and thanks for joining in with my bird challenge this week – great card! Breakfast yesterday sounded delicious – I have to have eaten a meal before I read your blog otherwise you make me hungry! Sandy’s right though – you never tell us you’ve been to the gym – you must be blessed with slimness! Keep warm this week!
Thank you very much Joanne! It’s funny because I only see arrows when I look at that folder! I’m happy that I got you out of a rut, you guys do that for me all the time! Thanks again for choosing my card last week! Breakfast was super! LOL! I need to start watching what I’m eating, I’m starting to get too much Winter weight on! LOL! I’m trying to stay warm, but it’s hard! Have a lovely week! 🙂
I just love what you did with the sun on this most cheerful card! Thank you for showing us another way to use that Embossing folder. We are in the midst of a 10 inch snowfall and 10 degrees. My husband is out plowing our private and very long road so it doesn’t pile up too much before he goes out again later. He already brought in at least 2 days worth of firewood. He pushed the snow off our deck and off the two big greenhouses. His work is never done. Housework is a piece of cake for me compared to what he does in a day. I hope Grace is faring well throughout her storms! Your day with Heather, et al, sounds nice. Great breakfast! How do you never need the gym? Have a great work week! Nancy B
Thank you Nancy! The sun is nice and bright and warm, now we just need that outside! You are suffering right along with me! Your poor husband, we definitely do get a workout with all of this snow! Ahh, but where would he be without you?! Poor Grace, I want to go and rescue here but it’s not much better here! My weekend was great fun and breakfast was yummy! I do need the gym, I just live in denial! LOL! You have a wonderful week too my friend! 🙂
Hey Justin, this is a very cute card! You did an awesome job cutting out that birdie, I thought you might have a framelit!?! The designer paper is cute too 🙂 Sounds like you still managed to have a great weekend – brekky sounds delicious! I have a couple of days off now, we’re off to Adelaide to see One Direction!!! I’m going with my friend and our daughters, staying in a swanky hotel, then a day of shopping! It’s a nice mid-week treat for something different 🙂 I hope you have a great start to your week my friend XOXO
Hey Kelly!
Thank you! I do love to use the old fashioned scissors every now and again! LOL! The weekend was good but too fast! Brekky was lovely! Oooh! That sounds like loads of fun! Enjoy them! Sounds like you will have a fabulous time! The week is off to a pretty good start! Enjoy yours! I’m jealous! XOXO 🙂
Cute card! I love how the panel is offset towards the right side, giving the allusion of movement; like the bird is already on its way East!
(BTW, who needs whole wheat?? lol 🙂 ) But then, maybe it’s the whole wheat that will generate the inner heater to keep you warm in that minus 20 temps? lol
Thank you Colleen! Yes, I like when things are status quo! I think that the whole wheat helped me feel a little better about the pancakes, they were huge! I would like to have a personal heater with me at all times lately! 🙂
Just wondering…did you slather them with hot fudge sauce instead of maple syrup? LOL
LOL! No, I went for the Maple Syrup Colleen! 🙂
I’m ordering this DSP after seeing your happy card. Thanks for the inspiration, AGAIN! Stay warm. I don’t think I’ve said it lately, but thank you for sharing your life with us. We appreciate your friendship.
Yay! Thanks so much Georgie! I am really trying to stay warm but the weather is really making it difficult! I appreciate you telling me, I so enjoy sharing my days with you! 🙂
Cute card, Justin! I love that little bird! He brings me some sunshine on this cold wintry day! Oh wait, we have sunshine! It’s just the 20 degree temps that are throwing me off, LOL! Anyway, he’s cute and he makes me happy too! Thanks for sharing this with us at the PP this week!
Thanks so much LeAnne! The little bird is a happy little guy! We had sunshine this afternoon after 5 more inches of snow! I need Spring! LOL! Enjoy the rest of your week my friend! 🙂
Justin, you made such an optimistic card for this time of year and I, for one, really appreciate it! Considering we will be hitting a record low tonight. Your card is wonderful with lots of great details! Thank you for playing along with the Paper Players theme challenge this week.
Thank you Debbie! I’m really trying to chase away Winter! We all need to feel a little bit warmer! Have a lovely weekend my friend! 🙂
