Pals Paper Arts 252

Ahh… the sweetness of Friday is upon us! This was a long week, lots going on and I am thinking the weekend will be a busy one too! I got a lot accomplished at work and the weather was cool and overcast again but they say that most of the weekend will be nice. I ran to Scrap-A-Latte straight from work to talk about next month’s stamp sets with Renee. We have narrowed it down to three companies! LOL! Not much progress! I came home and stopped my the Parent’s to have some dinner and then to my house to work on my card for today. I Skyped with Andrea for a bit and then my crafty friend Sandy stopped by! We talked about the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog and then did a show and tell of the other goodies that we have recently acquired. Always great to see Sandy! Tonight I’m out for some dinner with Anthony and Bill and then we are going to meet up with Marissa and one of her friends and go to the bar for al little while. Should be a very good way to start the weekend! What are your plans for the upcoming holiday?!

My craftiness last night yielded my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 252

I wanted to keep the card simple and use some new goodies that I recently acquired! The base is Whisper White and the front is covered in a piece of Basic Black. My background is a piece of the NEW Mint Macaroon Card Stock that I embossed with the “Vintage” Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, still one of my favorites! I recently got some new dies from DiesByDave on Etsy that coordinate with the By The Tide Stamp Set. His dies are great and if you haven’t been to his shop in a while you need to pay him a visit, he has added some new dies! I heat embossed the shells in Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder on the NEW Tip Top Taupe and then used the dies to perfectly cut them out. A little Foam Tape adheres them to the background. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Borders Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I adhered it to the shells with a little Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. Like I said a very simple but elegant card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! I thank you for your visit and wish you all an absolutely amazing Friday! 🙂

  1. Nice! Love the colors and great use of the sketch. If you and Renee need a third opinion I am more than happy to give mine!

  2. Hi Justin, Have a great long weekend! I remember having those “extra” days off, what a good memory. This card is so summery. Love the colors and texture but especially the band with the sentiment on it. I did get the new SU catalog but didn’t get to play too much. Maybe this weekend.
    🙂

    1. Hey Nancy!
Thanks, I will! I hope that you enjoy the weekend too! Thank you! I needed a nice summer card! Yes, set a side some time to play this weekend! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin and Happy Friday! Sorry for lack of comments lately—I do check on you but just don’t get the time to tell you how wonderful your creations are! 😉 First off—Heather’s kitty is just darling! So cute! This card is gorgeous! I have always loved that EF and will never get rid of mine. Love the sentiment too and because it’s on vellum it just pops. Loved seeing the picture of your last class too. Isn’t it great to see people smiling when they are being creative? Hard to believe the holiday weekend is upon us. Seems like we have a lot of eating events for the weekend! A couple of breakfast’s with friends and a cookout on Monday, if the rain holds off. Have a great weekend and enjoy that extra day off, you sure deserve it!

    1. Hello Karen!
Not to worry! We all get busy! Yes, Pasha is a sweet little kitten! I too will never get rid of that embossing folder! I love my classes, we all have the best time! Your weekend sounds like it will be fun! I am going to enjoy my weekend! Thanks! 🙂

  4. Another great creatin. Love how you used shells, I never would have thought of them n this sketch. Great color choices. Vacation stars today! Not much fun, cleaning, packing leave for Flordia tomorrow. 5 days of work but 5 days of relaxation, and i need to see Harry Potter World. Well i better hit the grocery store, my twins who are 21 and who have lived alone during college semesters are dying cause they have no food in the house, and how cruel of mom and dad to go to Flordia and leave them home alone with no food or meals. LOL my one has been so creative he is sending me comic sketches of our lack of food etc. Love them….

    1. Thank you Linda! I tried not to think of a shape and the first thing that came to mind were the shells! It sounds like you will have a very nice time in Florida! I have been to Harry Potter world and loved it! It’s funny how dependent we get when we come back home! LOL! You better get some food for them!! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin!
I love that embossing folder too. Love how you used the shells instead of hexagons.
Enjoy your weekend. I’m going to my nephew’s wedding this weekend. Good Times!!!

    1. Hello Gerri!
Thank you! It’s still one of my favorite EF’s! I hope that you have a great time at the wedding!! 🙂

  6. Thank you for such a wonderful card! The colors, embossing folder, vellum, and shells are perfect together! Have a terrific three-day weekend…Nancy B

  7. Happy Friday! Such a cute card. Oh, you are such a bad influence – ha ha. I had to pick up a set of those dies – because they will make me use my stamp set!! I always thought those images looked better cut out, and I’m not a fussy cutter. So these dies are perfect. The silver against the mint – with the vellum tying them together is such a great combo. Have a great week-end.

    1. It was a pretty happy Friday Lisa! Hope that yours was good too! Yes!! LOL! I love that he all of these dies for the stamp sets and I like them more than the Sizzix ones! I don’t mind the fussy cutting but then make everything so much quicker! So glad that you enjoyed the card! You have a wonderful weekend too! 🙂

  8. Love your trio of shells, Justin. They look amazing on the embossed background. The font for thank you is gorgeous stamped on vellum! Thanks for joining us at the Pals Paper Arts this week!

    1. Thank you so much Dawn! I like that set with the script, it is a great font! Have a super weekend! 🙂

  9. I really enjoy your blog updates and your cards are always wonderfully inspiring!! Cannot believe how simplistically gorgeous this is! Will have to check out that Dave guy to help speed the fussy cutting projects!

    1. Thanks very much Elizabeth! DiesByDave is great! His dies are super! You won’t be disappointed! 🙂
