It was another dreary day here on Long Island yesterday and it finally poured for about 15 minutes around 5:15 yesterday and then it was done. Michael met me at my house at 3:45 and we headed over to Scrap-A-Latte. I had to cut for class and he wanted to finish working on his baby book. We also got to see Renee’s kids Nicholas and Krista. They left a little early to go to dinner so we locked up. On the way home we stopped and got Hurricane’s Wings for dinner and came back to my house and watched some YouTube videos. Another nice day! So far it’s been a pretty good week and It’s almost Friday! Woo hoo!
My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…
I have been wanting to use a new butterfly die that I acquired and this seemed like a good place for it! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Clustered Leaves Die to cut out some Vellum and adhered it to the card with 2-Way Glue. The Simon Says Stamp Leanna Butterfly is cut from Blushing Bride and Mint Macaroon, the two pink ones are adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue and the mint one with a tiny piece of Foam Tape. I put a Basic Jewel Pearl in the middle of each one. The greeting is cut from Basic Black with the Simon Says Stamp You’re Amazing Die and adhered to the card with some more 2-Way Glue. A few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins are scattered around and complete the card and give it a little sparkle. I love the delicate look of the butterflies against the soft vellum leaves! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thanks for taking a little time from your day to stop by and see me! Have an awesome Thursday! ๐

Hey Justin, this card is SO PRETTY!! I love the delicate butterflies and the vellum leaves, and the sequins are just perfect!! You are lucky you get to eat out so much, we don’t have that many options – and I STILL have not received my new oven, even though I paid for it about a month ago (it’s on back order -_-) I have decided I WILL move my stamping stuff into my dining room – you only live once right!?! So I’m looking forward to the weekend for the big move! One day to go ๐ Hope you have a great day Justin xoxo
Hi Kelly!
Thank you so much! The butterflies are neat and very delicate but so cool! I love that leaf die, my favorite one of all time, I think! LOL! I do go out to eat a lot, there are so many places to do that here. Not cheap but sometimes just so much easier! I can’t believe that you have been without an oven for so long! The move to the dining room is a great idea and I don’t think that you will regret it! Have fun and I’m sure that you will find things that you “forgot” you had! Enjoy your evening! XOXOXO ๐
Very soft, light, airy and summery! Love it. I also like the font of the sentiment.
Funny we didn’t get any rain here at all.
๐
Thanks Nancy! I too love the font in the die! That’s weird, it poured in West Babylon! ๐
Beautiful card, Justin. I love the vellum leaves with the pastel butterflies. This is a great take on the challenge without using the three circles.
Thanks so much HJ! I usually stick to the sketch but I thought it would be fun to do something different! Glad that you like it! ๐
YOU are the amazing one to come up with something that seems so simple to do yet makes such a beautiful impact. I like the butterflies as circles much better! Yes, to eat out the way you do is such a luxury, but surrounded as you must be in NY by eateries is so fabulous. We are so limited here and what we do have is mostly chains of yuck. Not even great NY pizza. Oh, for the East Coast once again…Enjoy some pizza, whatever, for me! Have a great Thursday for you know what comes next! Nancy B
Thank you very much Nancy!! I like the butterflies better too!
It is a a very big luxury, but you only live once and there are so many places to eat here. The ones in the city are better than the ones out here except for the pizza place! I have had pizza four times this week! ๐
Justin,
Wow! Beautiful! Fabulous take on this sketch.
Thanks so much Gerri! ๐
Oh Justin – Amazing is just the right word for this card. When I first looked at it the word that came into my mind was “whisper” – I think that was because the card is so delicate. Of course I just love it! You’re ability to hide the glue from the back of the vellum is really fabulous.
So glad you are getting to spend time with Michael before he returns to Brasil. I too wish we had good eateries in this area. We actually do have great restaurants but only if you like seafood which we don’t. The pizza here is so awful that the hubs says “throw away the pizza and eat the box, it will taste better”. LOL
Busy day today, my two daughters will arrive tonight for our Minions weekend. The work week is almost over my friend. Hang in there. Luv ya, Big hugs, XO ๐
Hi Grace!
Thank you! Yes, I think that the leaves add to the delicate feel! Strategic gluing is my specialty! LOL!
I too am very happy that I get to spend time with Michael and to be honest I wish that he wasn’t going back. But, that’s just me being selfish. LOL! We are lucky as there are some really good restaurants around here but nothing compared to Manhattan. I’m lucky that I get to go there too!
You are going to have a great weekend!! Yes, I am ready for today to be done! Soon! Love you!! XOXOXO ๐
Another awesome cards with just die cuts!! You amaze me Sir.
Thank you Dave! I do love some die cuts! ๐
Really gorgeous, love this creation. great colors but I think the velum leaves that off set the butterflies are the Wow factor here. TGIF, or almost, long week. Went out to dinner with my BFF, that aways helps. We have nothing but heavy storms here all week with damaging winds, crazy weather
Thank you very much Linda! I love those leaves and that die is my favorite one to use to make them! Yay for Friday!! Friends always make everything better! Sorry that your weather is still not great. It will get better soon! ๐
