It was a gorgeous day here yesterday! So nice in fact that I took a ride over to Scrap-A-Latte in the convertible! The day began nicely too! I asked Taylor to make sure that I was up by 9:00 and she did just that. There was even a cup of coffee on my nightstand! What a lucky dad I am! I got a few things done that I wanted to get finished but I was no where near as productive as I wanted to be. Today I’m off to Manhattan for a day at The Ink Pad! It’s Small Business Saturday so don’t forget to go out and support your local small businesses! Also today in my store all stamps are 20% off if you use coupon code BLKFRI20 when you check out! And at the end of the post I have listed a few of my favorite craftย products! Most are inexpensive and would make great stocking stuffers! They are things that I use almost every day and can’t live without! I hope that you find them as useful as I do!
Before we get to my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches I want to thank Karren for choosing me as her Prince for last week’s sketch! You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE! Now, here is this week’s sketch…
I stayed really true to the sketch! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My flagged strip is a piece of Red Felt that I adhered to some Solar White 80lb with Tombo Extreme Adhesive to make it a little more sturdy. The Merry and snowflake are both cut out from Solar White 80lb four times using the Simon Says Stamp Deco Trees and Nadine Snowflake Dies. I adhered them to each other with Elmers Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. The snowflake is then adhered to the card with Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape and Multi-Matte Medium and the merry with just Multi-Matte Medium. Three Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins complete the card. I love the dimension from the layered die cuts and the super simple look of this card! I hope that you enjoyed myย card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thanks for visiting and don’t forget to check out my favorite crafty things after the card! Have a super Saturday! ๐

Fiskars Compact Stamp Press
This is my go-to tool when I need to get things lined up perfectly, especially sentiments!
MISTI Stampin Tool
My favorite tool toย use with layering stamps and when I want to make sure that an image is crisp and stamp it more than once!
Milwaukee Heat Gun
The best heat tool out there!
Versa-Mark Ink
My most used ink! I heat emboss all the time!
EK Success Powder Tool
The best way to make sure that there is no embossing powder where you don’t want it!
There are so many other things that I love to use but these are some things that I think everyone should have in their crafting arsenal! LOL!
That’s simply beautiful! You did a great job adhering that intricate snowflake to the card. I can’t see any of the adhesive. I have that die and the adhesives you used, so I’ve got to try your technique!
Thanks so much Carol! I do love that snowflake and it’s much easier to work with layered up! I hope that you like the technique! ๐
Beautiful card, Justin. I love its simplicity with the elegance of white with red. Thanks for the tips on using spray adhesive to layer the die cuts. I use it for larger pieces but never thought of spraying small items. Have a great weekend.
Thank you HJ! The spray adhesive works great with the intricate die cuts! I hope that you are enjoying your weekend! ๐
Good Morning Justin!
I love white on white with a little splash of just about any color but definitely red for the Christmas/Winter season. You have taught me that multi-layering a word stamp is NOT as intimidating as I thought it would be. I haven’t seen anyone else use your technique as effectively as you do. This card is kind of like a vanilla cone with a cherry on top! LOL Anyway, as you can tell, I really like this card.
Boy Justin, you are getting pretty spoiled with someone to wake you and even have your coffee ready! Just remember that being English doesn’t automatically make you Royalty! LOL I’m cracking myself up here. You have yourself a super Saturday and enjoy your day in the the Village helping at the Ink Spot. I’m asking Santa for a Misti – I watched the video and fell in love.
Love and hugs to you my friend! XO ๐
Hi Grace!
Thank you very much! I love to layer up the dies cuts! It gives them some great dimension and makes them a lot sturdier! LOL! Yes, it is a vanilla cone with a cherry on top!
I won’t lie, it was very nice to be woken up that way! Ha ha! It doesn’t automatically make me royalty?! Are you sure?! LOL! I had a great day at The Ink Pad! I love my MISTI, you will too! Love to you! XOXO ๐
Gorgeous card! I love all the clean white space, and the tip about mounting the snowflake using clear foam. I completely forgot I even have some!
Thank you Sandy! The Clear Foam comes in handy!! ๐
Justin,
This is a beautiful card!! So simple but so striking. I LOVE it!!!
Hi Gerri!
Thanks so much!! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! ๐
What an “enlightening” post with your very pretty card and your top tips. I will have to look into the Fiskars stamp press as I don’t know anything about it. Have a great Small Business Saturday! Hello to Taylor! What a nice daughter! Nancy B
Thanks so much Nancy! I’m glad that you enjoyed the tips and the card! I have had the stamp press for a while and it is a really great tool for lining up sentiments! Yesterday was fun! I will tell Taylor that you said hello! She can be a really great child! ๐
Love this card! And thanks for the list of favorite products. Would love to see more info on your blog on these items and how you use them!
Thanks Teresa! I will really need to get on to those videos! ๐
Gorgeous Card! LOVE the simplicity ๐ Thanks for the fab stocking stuffer ideas too!
Thanks very much Nicole! Glad that you enjoyed the favorite craft products too! ๐
Gorgeous card!
Thank you Marisa! ๐
Gorgeous, CAS=Elegant. Love the felt, I have so much felt I need to use.
Love your favorite products, almost matches mine. I don’t know why but my Quilled Precision tiops do not fit on my Multi Media bottle. you are the fourth crafter who recommends this. I’m flustered. Oh well.
Saw Hunger Games, awesome!!!!! Very productive weekend thus far, hope to keep Mojo flowing
Thank you Linda! I always forget about the felt too! I think there are a few different kinds of precision tips out there, I got mine from Amazon and it works!
Glad that you enjoyed Hunger Games, it was a really great movie! Lots to do today!! Wish me luck! ๐
I’m intrigued by the spray adhesive to glue multiple layers together. I’ve never used it before but I assume it’s better than that blue ink that comes in a pen? (Sorry, I forget what it’s called). In any event your card is gorgeous and I LOVE that strip of red felt!!
Love the spray adhesive! Yes, it’s a little easier to use than the 2-Way Glue Pen! So glad that you like the card!! Enjoy your Sunday! ๐
True to the sketch but yet so striking and fresh looking. Beautiful work! Glad to see you this week at FMS!
Thanks so much Jen! I love the sketch! Hope that you have a lovely week! ๐

Thank Narelle!! Hope you have an excellent week! ๐
*Love* this design, Justin! Simple, yet makes an impact on my eyes. Very striking!
