HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! Well, it was 0 degrees here this morning at 6:00am and that was without the wind chill which took it down to -10! Can we say frozen tundra?! I had to run out last night and my car was like… why! LOL! I did get a lot of crafty time in yesterday which was good, it was nice and warm in the house. Last night my friend Louis stopped by and we chatted for a bit and then he asked if he could make a card! I told him only if I got to share it on the blog today so here it is…
I said that it was pretty good for a first attempt! A shaker no less, he said that I was just a really good teacher! I told him that he needs to come to card class now! We’ll see!
Today I have a fun Valentine’s Day card, the last one for this year. My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The front is a piece of Real Red that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles and then used the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Spaced Hearts Stencil and a little Wendy Vecchi Metallic Gold Embossing Paste (I’m liking that lately, aren’t I?!). I masked off the stitched edges and the lower half with Blue Painter’s Tape. Across the bottom is a piece of My Mind’s Eye Gold Vellum from the Christmas on Market Street Collection. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders on a piece of Black 110lb and adhered that across the top of the Vellum. My heart is cut from some more Black 110lb twice with the Simon Says Stamp Sketch Heart Craft Die and adhered together with Elmer’s Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. To raise it up a bit I used Kool-Tak Clear Foam Adhesive to hold it on the card. Finally I die cut some Gold Foil Sheet and more Black 110lb with the Simon Says Stamp Small Love You Craft Die and used more Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive to adhered them together and to the card. I do love the gold embossing paste and that Sketch Heart is still awesome! I hope that you enjoyed mine and Louis’ cards for today! Thank you so much for visiting and have a love filled Sunday with your Valentine! 🙂

Hi Justin,
Happy Valentines Day! This card is Awesome!!! So classy with the gold and red and black. LOVE IT!!!
Hello Gerri!
Happy Valentine’s Day! Glad that you enjoyed the card! Have a great day! 🙂
How fantastic that you’ve inspired your friend to make a card as well. Crafting with friends is the best. I give Louis a ton of credit–I haven’t gotten up the nerve to try a shaker yet, but it might be his weekend’s project. His card looks great! And the gold touches on your own card are extra special–it’s really lovely. Stay warm, and have a fabulous Valentin’s Day.
Yes, I love when I get to have a friend make a card! He was a really good student! I love shakers and once you get used to making them they are easy! Glad that you like both of the cards! Staying warm and you have a great V Day too! 🙂
Very fun Valentine’s Day card, Justin! The gold, red and black are a classic combination! Your friend’s card is great – shaker card right out of the gate too.
Stay warm today, at least relief is in sight with milder temps soon!
Thank you Christy! We both had fun making the cards! I’m staying inside today! Too cold to go outside! 🙂
Great card today, Justin. I love the rustic heart, the striped vellum, the gold paste for the small hearts and the gold sentiment. All make an awesome card. Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
Thanks HJ! That heart die is my favorite one and I’m a little obsessed with the gold embossing paste! Happy Valentine’s Day to you too! XO 🙂
Wow Justin – Louis did a fabulous job, especially since it’s the first card he ever made! I guess he was right and you are a great teacher. Not to be outdone, your card is awesome. I love that you use the paste, I don’t have the patience to wait for it to dry. I took a class with it several years ago and just couldn’t get into it but you seem to do a fantastic job with it. Your card is just gorgeous.
Not to be outdone but, it was -18 degrees at about 6 a.m. here. The hubs says you were warmer than us because you are closer to the coast. My point is once you are below freezing does it really make any difference? That’s just plain freeze your butt off cold!
I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day. We done’t have any special plans and won’t even attempt to go out to dinner today. I told the Hubs that we can wait until the temps are above zero and it’s not a special holiday and then go out and celebrate being together. That’s what I prefer to waiting hours to get a table in any restaurant. Enjoy your day, love your family and friends and appreciate all your blessings. Love and hugs, hope Winnie is feeling better. XXOO 🙂
Yay! He will be happy to hear that Grace! Glad that you like my card too! I have re-discovered the embossing paste and am a little obsessed! LOL!
Yes, I have seen how cold you have it too! Hubs is right but so are you, once you get below zero it’s just way too cold!
I will have a nice quiet day crafting! You can celebrate V Day any time! Love and hugs to you!! XOXOXO 🙂
Love your card with the heart and stripes and “stitching”, and great die cuts. Kudos to Louis and his teacher! That was a great “first” card!
Thank you Carol! Glad you like both of the cards! Have a lovely day! 🙂
Happy Valentine’s Day! Louis’s card is terrific! Yours is so pretty too! What’s the update on Winston?
Have a great day! Stay warm! Nancy B
Happy Valentine’s Day Nancy! Yay! Glad that you like both the cards! Winston is much better thank you! You have a lovely day! XO 🙂
First attempt card a shaker OMG he is good. Oh how I love your card, has a vintage feel to it. I agree, flippin freezing here and the white stuff is falling again. Falling since 11am, Had to take hubby to O’Hare airport, that is an interesting drive even in nice weather. he is going to Syracuse, NY for work. Cold and snow following him.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Yes, he did a great job Linda! Thank you! Yes, I’m totally over the weather! Thankfully after all of the snow yesterday it rained and most of it is gone! Hope that you had a nice Valentine’s Day! 🙂
