Pals Paper Arts 230

Yesterday was a rainy day, and yes, I stayed in bed way too late! I did go over to Heather’s for a late breakfast that was quite yummy! Scrambled eggs, bacon and an english muffin. We ran to Target to pick up some necessities and I found two new props for my pictures! After I came home and hid in the Stampin’ Galley for most of the rest of the day. It was a good day to craft. I squeezed in some TV, I watched the Grammy Christmas special from the other day. Sam sang Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, you can buy the song on iTunes, I of course think it’s the best version of the song I have ever heard! LOL! I may be a bit partial though! Go and give a listen and let me know what you think! This morning another late morning, I guess that we do need them every once in a while, but I should be good now! 🙂

One of the cards that I made yesterday is for this week’ Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 230

I wanted a simple Christmas card but not overly Christmas. The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. To create my tag I punched a piece of Vellum Card Stock with the Scallop Tag Topper punch and used the Project Life Corner Rounder on the bottom corners. My feathers are from the Four Feathers Stamp Set and are heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with the Feathers Framelits. I adhered them to the tag with SNAIL. The greeting is form the Endless Wished Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I threaded some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through a Gold Basic Metal Button and adhered it on top of the bottom of the feathers with Glue Dots. Some more baker’s twine is threaded through the top of the tag and the tag is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. I used some Crystal Effects to adhere the baker’s twine to the background. It has the Christmas feel without any traditional elements. I hope that you like my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thank you for taking a little time to stop by and visit with me! You make my days brighter! Have a super Sunday everyone! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 165

I’m a little late this morning! I had the birthday party last night and I got home a little later than I expected so I decided that I would get up early this morning and make my card. Well, the bed was just a little too comfy again and I didn’t get up as early as I wanted to. Plus, it’s rainy here this morning, in fact it rained from about 5:30 last night. I also wanted to catch up on comments, time just gets away from us sometimes! The party was lots of fun and I finally got to meet Danielle’s boyfriend and he’s a very nice guy. All in all a good Friday spent with fun people!

Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 165

I really liked the negative die cut tree that I did in the banner a little while ago and wanted to do another one. I thought that it might look neat cut out from a heart so that’s what I did. My card base for today is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Pool Party. I heat embossed some snowflakes from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then adhered the background to the card with SNAIL. I cut out two hearts using the Hearts Collection Framelits, one from Pear Pizzaz and one from Cherry Cobbler. The tree cut out is made using the tree from the Snowflake Card Thinlits. I stamped the decorations from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed them with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. More of the snowflakes are heat embossed on the Cherry Cobbler heart and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it over the Pear Pizzaz one. The greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on pear Pizzaz and the banner is cut out using one of the dies from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. To finish off the card I threaded some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through a Regals Designer Series Button and adhered it with a Glue Dot. I really am enjoying the negative die cuts, they give the card nice depth and it’s a fun change! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. As always, I appreciate you coming by to see what I’m up to and I hope that you have a lovely Saturday! 🙂

Fab Friday 56

I do love a Friday don’t I?! Nothing special about work yesterday, it was just work. I came home and got to see little Daniel. His bump on his head is healing nicely. Still running all over the place with abandon, still as cute as can be! My friend Heather deemed last night wine night so I went over to her house and had some Layer Cake Malbec, delicious. We watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower and discussed life. Always a good way to spend an evening. Tonight I have my friend Danielle’s mum’s 50th Birthday party, I am being picked up so that will definitely be a good time! 🙂

This Friday is a Fab Friday and this time around we have an interesting color combo…

Fab Fri 56 12-05-2014

As promised I used the new set that we got at the Occasions Catalog reveal to make a fun and simple shaker card. My card base is a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Stitched Rectangles Dies to make the shaker by cutting a piece of Whisper White for the base, some Old Olive for the frame and a piece of Window Sheet. Some Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Cherry Cobbler is punched out with the Confetti Stars Border Punch to fill the shaker along with some 2013-2014 In-Color Sequins. The tag in the middle is from the One Tag Fits All Stamp Set* and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and Bermuda Bay. I used the Note Tag Punch to punch it out and the 1/8″ Circle Punch to make a hole for my Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine to go through. I stamped the gem on Vellum with Versa-Mark and heat embossed it in with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The back side is colored with my Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers and then I cut it out with my Paper Snips. Some very tiny slivers of Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the tag. A fun simple shaker card to let someone know how much you appreciate them! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday color challenge and your sneak peek at the new set from the 2015 Occasions Catalog! Stop by the blog and take a look at the rest of the design teams projects and upload one of yours to the gallery! Thank you very much for coming buy and I wish you all a fantastic Friday! 🙂

Mojo 374 & New Catalogs!

It was a rainy day here yesterday all day. We had a movie screening at work for Kings Park, a documentary on the mental institution done by filmmaker Lucy Winer. It was quite interesting and she was a very nice person. You can find out a little bit more about the film HERE. I left work a little early to go and meet up with my friend Sandy so we could drive to Trenton, NJ for the Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Catalog Reveal. We stopped at a Hobby Lobby on the way, Sandy had never been to one, and we had some SmashBurger for dinner, YUM! The new Catalogs have some really great things in them that you are going to love! I’ll be doing a pre-order on Friday and will hopefully have some new stuff to show you next week! We did get a new Stamp Set and I will try and make a sample using that tomorrow! I got to see my friend Bonnie from the Unite and Excite event. I also got to meet my “blog” friend Donna! Here is a little selfie of us…

Donna & I Catalog Reveal

I love getting to meet my friends that I talk to all the time on here! I also got to meet Nina, a friend from Stampin Connection! So much fun! 🙂

Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo374

I decided that I wanted to use some colors that I would never normally use. You will have to indulge me a little today! LOL! The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles Dies to cut out most of the pieces for the card. The background is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that covers the entire card Front. Next up is a piece of Elegant Eggplant on the left and some Crushed Curry on the right. Another piece of Cherry Cobbler adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals is on top of that. My greeting is from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Crushed Curry. A frame of Elegant Eggplant goes around it and more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the Cherry Cobbler panel. A very jewel toned card and not colors that I would normally use, but we all need to step outside of our comfort zones every once in a while right?! I hope that you enjoy my unusual card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch challenge Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very Nice Thursday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 121

Mid-week already, not too bad! Work was pretty good yesterday, too. There was an errand involved and we know how much I love that. After work, I came home and retrieved the dog, then ran out to get some pizza so Andrew and I could have dinner before we went to the movies. We picked up Brian and headed to Broadway Mall to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. Andrew had mentioned that they had redone the theater recently, but I hadn’t been there since the renovation. I don’t think I’ll be able to go to another theater ever again because this one was just so great.

Here’s a picture of Andrew enjoying the comfort…

AndrewBwayMovie

And here’s a nice view of the seats we got to sit in…

BwayMovieSeats

Big, comfortable, and they recline! It’s just like being in your living room! The movie was good. It stayed pretty true to the book, except…SPOILER ALERT…they included the entire rescue scene. That’s not a bad thing, because they executed it well. So yes, I would recommend going to see it. If you do, though, don’t take Andrew with you. He doesn’t like cliffhangers and was not very happy at the end of the movie considering it was part 1, even though he knew what to expect. 😉

If it’s Wednesday, we know that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS121 Sketch 12-03-2014

I stayed very true to the sketch, but had a lot of fun with the card. My base for today’s card is Basic Black Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of Daffodil Delight and randomly heat embossed the stars from the Be The Star Stamp Set in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I cut out a piece of Whisper White with the Labels Collection Framelits and used my homemade sunburst stencil to sponge on some Daffodil Delight. The greeting and @ sign are from the #hello Stamp Set. Both are heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black. The @ sign is punched out with the 2″ Circle Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals along with the #missyoumore. Tucked under the #missyoumore is a strip of Silver Glimmer Paper. Three stars from the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set are heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black and punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. They too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few random rhinestones in the top left and bottom right finish off the card. I don’t know what it is, but I really like this card. Fun, basic colors with a little sparkle and shine! I hope you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Now head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the design team has come up with and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the sketch. I appreciate you stopping by and hope that you have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 111

Now that was an early morning yesterday! To be somewhere at 6:00AM is even early for me! The rest of the day was uneventful and I was fine with that. I left work at 3:30 and found out that Sam Smith was on Ellen so I got to watch that. Last night was burgers on the grill with some fries. Yum! It started to rain around 5:30 so I came home and hid in the Stampin’ Galley for a while. I got a few things done and then watched a little TV. This week is a busy week for me. Tomorrow night Andrew and I are going to see the Hunger Games – Mocking Jay Part 1 then on Wednesday I have the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog reveal in NJ with Sandy and on Friday I have a birthday party to go to. Not that it’s not fun stuff, but a busy week!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Tag You’re It challenge. Just use a tag on your project, we know how I love a tag! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut a chunk out of a piece of Garden Green and adhered it over the DSP. My tag is a piece of Sahara Sand and I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to create it. The greeting is from the Mingle All the Way Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I tied a piece of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through the top and used some Crystal Effects to adhere the long ends in place and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhered the tag to the card. A few red sequins finish off the card with a little shine. I’m really loving the negative die cutting and yes, even I can use traditional Christmas colors every once in a while! LOL! I hope that you like my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Tag You’re It challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what the other Design Team members have for inspiration for you! Thanks a lot for coming by today, I hope that you all have a nice Tuesday and I’ll be sure to let you know how the movie was tomorrow! 🙂

Paper Players 224

Monday, why do you have to come so soon?! I did have a nice four days off, I managed to get some stuff accomplished but not everything that I wanted to. Isn’t that the way it always goes?! This morning I have to be at one of our other work locations at 6:15am, ugh! Yesterday I managed to get a bunch of cards made and then I went out for a bit with Heather to see our friends Patti and Tom. On the way home we stopped off at Target and picked up a few things, I always forget one thing and last night it was granola bars. I of course picked up things that I didn’t need but isn’t that the way it always goes at Target?! I hope that you all have recovered from Thanksgiving and Black Friday! It’s Cyber Monday today, but at least you get to do that from the comfort of your own home!

The one good thing about Monday is it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week it’s a Tic-Tac-Toe from Jaydee…

Paper Players #224

I hit seven of the nine squares! I was going to try for them all but I forgot about the patterned paper and transport! Oops! Today’s card was inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest. My card base for today’s card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Mossy Meadow and used a Simon Says Stamp Stencil and some Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste to create my falling snow. To make the shaker portion I cut a piece of Lost Lagoon out with the Banners Framelits and then used the tree form the Snowflake Card Thinlits to create the negative tree in the banner. A piece of Window Sheet is adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue on the back and some foam tape to keep the sequins inside. Before I adhered the banner to the card I tied a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Baker’s Twine in a bow towards the top and punched out a star with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack from some Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered that with a tiny bit of a Stampin’ Dimensional. My greeting is form the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Crisp Cantaloupe and cut out with another one of the dies from the Snowflake Card Thinlits. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere that to across the bottom of the banner and that completes the card. I am loving the colors on toady’s card, yes it’s very non-traditional but it does have the green and you can pretend that the Crisp Cantaloupe is red! LOL! And that’s my card for this week’s Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. I hope that you enjoyed it and that you have as good a Monday as it will allow! Thank you so much for coming by! 🙂

Starry Tag Christmas

And the four day weekend is almost at an end. I didn’t get most of the stuff I wanted to get done yesterday accomplished. I did get my new door lock installed in the morning and after that I went and met Heather at her new apartment and we went and had lunch. After that we went back to the old apartment so I could put her old lock back on the door and then we ran a few errands. I came home and had some dinner and the spoke to my friend Carolyn from Australia on Skype. I love the fact that I get to see my friends from around the world instead of just hearing them! I made my card for today while we were talking and if you go over to Carolyn’s blog you can see the card that she posted! It’s fun to craft with someone, even if they are miles and miles away!

Speaking of today’s card, I had the urge for a tag but I needed to do something a little different with it, this is what I came up with. The base of today’s card is Pool Party Card stock. For my background I used one of my favorite stamps, the Dictionary Background, stamped in Mossy Meadow on Kraft Card Stock. The tag is a piece of Mossy Meadow and I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder to make it. I then used the Confetti Stars Border Punch, once on each side of the tag and backed it with Pool Party to create a nice starry background. The tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and punched out with the Tree Punch. I adhered it to the tag with teen tiny pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A piece of Pool Party 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon is tied through to the top and the tag is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It needed something more and Carolyn suggested a few Candy Dots in upper right corner to finish it off. I love the negative punched stars with the Pool Party behind them, a pretty cool effect don’t you think? I hope that you enjoy my card for today, I had a lot of fun making it! Thank you for your visit, I always appreciate it. Enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

Snowflake Wonder Christmas

Happy Saturday peeps! Did you score any really good Black Friday deals? I avoided Black Friday for the most part. I did go out with Anthony and Bill last night to the Apple Store to get Anthony his new iMac. The store wasn’t really busier than any other Friday night. They don’t have any deals though at Apple. I did get to see my friend Lauren and she was really helpful as always. We went to Friday’s for dinner after and I had a Sam Adams Winter Lager, quite tasty! I came home and Skyped with my friend Eva while I made my card for today, that was fun! Today is clean the house day, I hope! LOL!

As you know I like to share all kinds of things with you on my blog. I’m a big fan of design of any kind. My friend Nicole from work has been working on redoing her living room and dining room for a while now and she finally got it finished. She showed me the pictures the other day and I LOVE what she did! The rooms have a rustic modern feel to them and I love all of the elements that she put together! Here is her new dining room. Check out the awesome table and really cool chairs, not to mention her favorite part, the chandelier with the Edison bulb!

Nicole DR

And in her living room I love the dresser that the TV is on along with the coffee table! The rug is completely unexpected but works so well with all of the other elements!

Nicole LR

Plus the pictures have a sort of magazine quality feel to them! Awesome job Nicole and thank you for letting me share the pictures!

Today’s card has been floating around in my head for a little while and I decided that it was finally time to bring it to life. To make the card base I used a piece of Whisper White Card Stock cut to 3 1/2″ wide (tall & skinny!) and covered the entire front with a piece of Brushed Gold Metallic Card Stock. The background is a piece of Night of Navy, I heat embossed the snowflakes from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the greeting from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A piece of “Vintage” Pool Party Baker’s Twine is tied in a bow off to the left and the panel is adhered to the base with SNAIL. The 25 and Very Merry are also from the December Wonder Set and are heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used the Hexagon Punch to punch out the 25 and the 1″ Circle Punch for the Very Merry. The large swirl is from the Sweetie Pie Frames Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I used some 2-Way Glue to adhere the large and small circles and Stampin’ Dimensionals for the 25. A Basic Jewel Rhinestone in the middle of each of the snowflakes completes the card. I am so loving the blues for the Holidays, more so than ever before and with a little gold I think it’s the perfect combination! I really hope that you enjoyed my blue Christmas card for today’s post and Nicole’s new rooms. Thank you so much for stopping by, I wish you all a stupendous Saturday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 229

Happy Black Friday! Are you out and standing in a line somewhere to get a 70″ TV for $200?!?! LOL! I used to do Black Friday years ago but now with online shopping I see no reason to be cold for an extended period of time! I was looking at the LED TV’s and it’s crazy to see how cheap they are now! They are a lot of good deals out there but it’s way too early for me to start Christmas shopping, I prefer to wait until days before. Not always a good idea but I do it every year and there is no sense living in denial. My friend Kim finished her Christmas shopping in September! Now that to me is just crazy! LOL! I trust that you all had a nice Thanksgiving! Mine was quiet, just my parents and Taylor for dinner and that was at 1:00. I took my friend Chantal to the airport, which I have never seen so empty in all the times that I have been there! Traffic was a little heavy on the way back but not too bad. I stopped at Michaels to see Taylor, she told me not to go up there, she wants no customers so they will close next year! Of course I had to go! LOL! I came home and crafted for a while, watched some TV and then off to bed. A quiet low key Thanksgiving and I was quite happy with that!

Today I have my card for this week’s fun Pals Paper Arts sketch…

PPA 229

Lots of circles! This was one of those sketches that I knew exactly what I was going to do as soon as I saw it! My card starts off with a base of Pool Party Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out some Silver Foil Sheet and “frames” for all of them. The frames are cut from Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate. Some Multi-Purpose Glue holds to frames to the foil sheet and them to the card. My greeting is from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Lost Lagoon. The left side is flagged and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I scattered a few Frosted Sequins around and adhered them with Crystal Effects to add a little more sparkle to the card. I like using the Crystal Effects to adhere the sequins because it dries nice and clear and you can’t see it in the holes in the middle of the sequins. And there you have my fun shiny circle card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the card and the post! Thanks for stopping by! Have a fabulous Friday everyone! 🙂
