Paper Players 222

My three day weekend actually did feel like a three day weekend so I won’t even complain that it’s Monday. I managed to get some stuff done for a change. I also took a trip out to see my friend Renee for a little Curvy Keepsake demo. After dinner I took a nice long ride in the car and stopped at the airport for a little bit. It didn’t have the desired effect, actually quite the opposite, but it needed to be done. Work is always fun after a day off so I’m not looking forward to my email when I get in! How was your weekend?

Monday and yes, it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge from Ann…

Paper Players #222

Clean and simple thanks. I decided that it was bout time that I actually used the Snowflake Card Thinlit, the card part that is. The card is cut from a piece of Pool Party Card Stock. I stamped the image from the Letterpress Winter Photopolymer Stamp Set in Lost Lagoon on the flip part of the card. Some Silver Glimmer Paper is used to cut out the large snowflake, two smaller ones and the “snow”. I used Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere them all to the card and belly band. The thank you is also from the same set and is heat embossed in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A super simple thank you card that will work well for all of those presents that you will receive over the holidays! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players CAS Thank You challenge from Ann. Thanks for coming by today and I hope that you all have a great Monday! 🙂

World Traveler You

I’m a little late with my post today, I just can’t get going lately. It was also a busy day yesterday, I ran some errands in the morning to get out of the house. Heather does catering and I went with her on a deliver and then we came home and got ready to go to Daniel’s party. I stopped off to see my friend Renee on the way out east to pick up some stuff from her. The party was in Patchogue, it was fun and the kids had a good time. There was a bouncy house and lots of ballgame themed food. I took some pictures, of course I forgot to take pictures of the banners, but I did get some nice pictures of my peeps.

A really fun party with lots of great people.

On a side note and completely unrelated, I love quotes. If you follow me on Instagram I post quotes all the time. Some that I write and some that I love. I found this one this morning and it reminded me of when I was a younger. If I was feeling down I would take a ride to the airport and go to the International Arrivals Terminal and sit there and watch the people meet as they got off the plane. The International Terminal is good for this because the people have been away for longer and it’s so nice to see them reunited with loved ones. This quote I found this morning reminded me of that…

Jonathan Safran Foer Quote

So, I think at some point today I’m going to go to the airport and just watch for a little while.

Now on to today’s card. I wanted to use my favorite greeting and the World Map Stamp so this is what I came up with. The card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped the World Map Background Stamp on a piece of So Saffron in Memento Tuxedo Black. The Lawn Fawn Large and Small Stitched Rectangles are used to cut out the map, frame and Vellum. The greeting I mentioned is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder along with the ship image from the Traveler Stamp Set. My frame is a piece of Basic Black and is adhered to the Vellum with SNAIL and then everything is adhered to the base. Not a very complicated card and the Stitched Frames make all of the layers east to cut out. I also love Vellum over another image in the background, it always gives it a little depth while keeping the card easy to mail. I hope that you enjoyed my card and the pictures from Daniel’s 1st Birthday. I also hope that you enjoyed the quote, I’ll post more of them here as I come across them. Thanks for spending a little time with me today. Have a good Sunday! 🙂

Traveler Miss You

Yesterday I had planned to be productive but that didn’t happen. I was sad yesterday for some reason, I spent most of the morning laying on the couch, that’s something I never do. My friend Kim called me and asked me what I was doing and told me that she could come and get me or I could shower and then go over to her. I opted to shower first! I spent the afternoon with Kim and Brian and then came home to make my card for today. Andrew called and said he was outside and had a few errands to run and would I like to go with him so I did. We ended up going back to Kim & Brian’s for dinner. Izzy took a liking to Andrew and used him as a jungle gym for a little while!

Andrew and Izzy

I say it all the time, I’m so lucky to have my friends. They are the most incredible people that you could ever hope to know. I needed to be around my peeps and like always they were there! Today is little Daniel’s 1st birthday party. Andrew has been informed by my sister-in-law Erika that he is singing! I’ll be sure and take pictures so you can join the party too!

The card that I have for you today is a relatively simple one, but the embossing paste gives it a little oomph! The card base is Cajun Craze Card Stock. For my background I took a piece of Night of Navy and a Tim Holtz Stencil called Gothic. I used some Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste and my palette knife to spend the embossing paste over the stencil and carefully peeled it off. I keep a shallow pan of water nearby to dunk the stencil into, the embossing paste dries pretty quickly and sticks to the stencil if you don’t keep it wet. After the embossing paste dried I Adhered a piece of 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon around the back of the panel and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. The suitcase image is from the Traveler Stamp Set and is stamped in Cajun Craze and cut out with my Paper Snips. For the greeting I used the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set, stamped the image in Cajun Craze and cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits. Before I took it off of the Magnetic Platform I ran my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Markers around the inside to give it a border. Finally a little Champagne Glimmer Paper heart punched out with the Owl Builder Punch goes over the o in “you”. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The stencil reminds me of our Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder but I love the texture from the Embossing Paste even more, it has a great look and feel to it. I’m off to catch up on comments and try to get out of my funk. I hope that you enjoyed today’s card. I really appreciate you coming by to see me and I hope that you all have a really good Saturday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 227

Since I had the day off today I decided to sleep in a little, something that I never do. Not much to report today, just glad to be off of work. I’m going to try and get some things done around the house and maybe see some peeps. Oh, and let’s wish Michael a safe flight home, and a speedy return back here real soon.

Today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 227

I did another watercolor card, I just can’t get enough of it lately! My card starts off with a base of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock, on top of that is a piece of Crushed Curry to back the main panel. I stamped the flower from the Blooming with Kindness Stamp Set in Crushed Curry and then took my damp paint brush and pulled the color from the stamped image into the flower. We have some really great images for watercoloring with this technique and this is one of the best ones. Some Old Olive is brushed on to the stem and completes the flower. The greeting is from the same set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Finally I stamped the butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie, watercolored it too and punched it out with the Elegant Butterfly punch and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. A little fluff of the wings and the card is finished. A simple but pretty birthday card for someone special! I really hope that you are enjoying my little obsession with watercoloring and that you liked today’s card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. I thank you for stopping by and I hope that you all have a fantastic Friday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 162

Ahh… today is my Friday! I’m off from work tomorrow and am going to try and catch up on some things. Michael also goes home tomorrow and will be missed. I’m so glad that I got to spend time with him and get to know him. He’s a great person and I look forward to him coming back again soon. Yesterday was another decent day but it’s chilly this morning. It is supposed to be colder over the weekend too. I went to Friday’s for dinner with Heather last night and then came home and crafted and relaxed a bit. Not bad for a Wednesday.

The card that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 162

Yes, this was another one of those cards that I knew pretty much what I was going to do when I saw the sketch. My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and for my background I embossed a piece of Basic Black with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I cut two pieces of Smoky Slate and stamped the skyline from the Calling All Heroes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black on the bottom of them both. I adhered one of them to the background and wrapped some Basic Black Baker’s Twine around it three times and tied one of the Silver Basic Metal Buttons on and adhered the background to the base. On the top panel I stamped the Santa and sleigh form the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set and the greeting from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set both in Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few Sparkling Clear Sequins scattered around the night sky complete the card. I know what you are thinking, black and gray for a Christmas card… but I really do love the colors and images. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and that you are inspired to try something completely different for a Holiday card. Thanks very much for stopping by and I hope that you all have a Terrific Thursday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 118

The week is moving along, it’s Wednesday already! It was another nice day here yesterday, warm and sunny. Work was uneventful which is just how I like it. Little Daniel went and got his first haircut yesterday, as if he wasn’t cute enough! He’ll be a year old on Friday. His mom said that he looks like a little boy now, especially when he’s running all over the place! Here he is with his spiffy new do…

Daniel Haircut

Looks a little like my haircut! After dinner Andrew stopped by for a bit and we caught up, it’s been a little while since I have seen him, we have both been really busy. We vowed to make sure that we put the busy aside so that it isn’t another two weeks before we see each other again. Not too bad for a Tuesday at all!

If it’s Wednesday then that means I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS118 Sketch 11-12-2014

I felt the need to watercolor again last night and today’s card is an odd size, it’s 4 3/4 x 4 3/4, definitely not a size that I have made before but I have my Envelope Punch Board to make my envelope so it’s all good. The base for the card is a piece of “Vintage” Cherry Cobbler Core’dinations Card Stock and the background is a piece of Sahara Sand. My panel in the middle is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack and is backed with some Early Espresso with a piece of Linen Thread tied in a bow. All of my images are from the An Open Heart Stamp Set. The branch is stamped in Mossy Meadow and the bird and greeting in Early Espresso, both on Watercolor Paper. I used a paintbrush with water to pull ink from the stamped images and color them in. Some Cherry Cobbler on the bird and branch and some Crushed Curry for the beak enhance the detail a bit. It’s mounted to a piece of Mossy Meadow and adhered to the main panel with SNAIL. Two more pieces of the DSP are punched out with the Banner Punch and tucked under the main panel. The greeting is stamped in the lower left and completes the card. I really do love the watercoloring using the ink from the stamped images, it’s a nice easy way to get a pretty cool look! And there you have my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Stop by the blog to see what the other designers have dome with the sketch and enter your project in the gallery so we can see your take. I hope that you enjoyed my card and I thank you of taking a little time to stop by and see me today! Enjoy your Wednesday! 🙂

Mojo 371

I’m still not used to the fact that it’s getting darker earlier. It also doesn’t help that it’s dark when I wake up too! The weather here has been pretty nice, not too cold and sunny, maybe we can keep this for the whole winter?! Work was pretty standard yesterday and when I got home I made my card and then planned my much needed cleanup of the craft area. I have been pretty busy and most of my organization has gone to the wayside. I need to get on top of it before I start forgetting that I have stuff! Do you ever find yourself doing that? You are out looking at stuff and think “oh, I really like that, I think I’ll get it” only to get home and find that you already have it?!?! I guess one good thing about that is if you bought it twice you must have really liked it! LOL!

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!:

Weekly Deals 11-11-2014 SM

My card for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo371

I wanted to use some of the stuff that I have gotten recently before I forget where I put it, that’s where the wood comes in! My card starts with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake. I used a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack backed with some Early Espresso for my first panel. The second one is a piece of wood sheet that I picked up on my travels on Saturday, it’s also backed with Early Espresso because it’s very thin and it makes the grain stand out a bit more. Across the lower half is a piece of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon tucked behind the Crumb Cake. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Vellum and stamped the JOY from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it in Cherry Cobbler. The tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green on Crumb Cake and punched out with the Tree Punch. The balls are heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and I used a Sakura Gelly Roll Gold Pen to go over the lines. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the tree adhere it and the Vellum circle to the card. We all know that I love a little woodgrain so the wood sheet is definitely my favorite part of the card! The other great thing about them is that are thin enough to use with punches or Framelits! Ahhh… the possibilities! I hope that you enjoyed my Holiday card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I love having you stop by to share in my days and I wish you all a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 221

I had such nice weekend and it seemed like a long weekend too! Yesterday I was in Manhattan most of the day visiting friends. I even got to have dinner at the diner with Kim. It was a relatively nice day too weather wise. On my way home I stopped at Target to pick up a few things and then crafted for a bit before I decided that I needed to try and catch up on some of my sleep. How was your weekend? What were you guys up to?

It’s Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my friend Sandy has given us a color challenge…

Paper Players #221

I did see a Holiday card when I looked at them but my friend Danielle needs a congratulations card for her mom who just got a promotion at work so I went with some flowers. The card base for today’s card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Hexagon Hive Thinlit to cut out a piece of Very Vanilla for my background and adhered it to the base with 2-Way Glue. All of the stamps are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. The flowers are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the leaves in Mossy Meadow. I cut them all out with the Flower Fair Framelits including the flower middles. My leaves are adhered to the card with SNAIL and the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used some more 2-Way Glue to adhere the centers and brushed them with some Wink of Stella Glimmer Pen to give them a little sparkle (which you can’t see in the picture). The greeting is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and cut out with the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. I used my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker around the edge to give it a little definition and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. A nice simple card to let someone know how great you think they are. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy. I appreciate your stopping by today and I wish you all a great start to your week! 🙂

Silver Falling Snow

Hello my peeps! What’s going on by you? I had a very nice day in Connecticut yesterday with my friends Michael and Sue. We went up to the garage sale at Papercraft Clubhouse in Westbrook. So many stamps, paper and accessories to dig though and we all found some treasures. There was even a table with all Stampin’ Up! sets and accessories. We spent quite a while there and even got to speak to the owner Tracie who was very sweet. I took a picture of this cool purple house which turned out to be another stamp store called Beautiful Impressions Too.

Beautiful Impressions Yoo

On the way home we stopped at Hobby Lobby and JoAnn’s. I got some more goodies (not that I needed any more! LOL) and so did everyone else! All in all a very fun day indeed!

Today I have a card that was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest. The card begins with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Letterpress Winter Photopolymer Stamp Set in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. For my panel I stamped the tree branch from the “Vintage” Take Care Stamp Set in Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand randomly on a piece of Naturals White Card Stock. My falling snow is created using a stencil from Simon Says Stamp and some embossing paste. I mounted the panel to a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock (at the suggestion of Michael) and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. The two snowflakes are from the Snowflake Card Thinlit and are cut out from Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the simplicity of the card and the subtle falling snow created with the embossing paste. I hope that enjoyed my wintry Holiday card for today. Thank you for sharing in my days and I hope that you all have a great Sunday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 226

Happy Saturday peeps! I had a nice day yesterday. Danielle and I had an errand to run for work and were out for about three hours. We also had to stop at Panera to get some gift cards so we had lunch there. I had the Autumn Squash soup and it was delicious! I also had a nice road trip last night to New Jersey. Michael had a class to teach at Paper Anthology and had taken the train so I offered to go out and get him. The traffic was pretty heavy on the way there but it wasn’t a bad ride. The store was really neat, it was in an old house and had a great selection of all different kinds of goodies. If you ever find yourself in Kenvil New Jersey definitely stop by. You can check out their web site HERE and visit Michael’s blog HERE. This morning I’m off to Connecticut with Michael and Sue for a little visit to two stamp stores. And yes, I’m typing this on the car! LOL!

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 226

Very fall appropriate colors, so I went with Christmas! LOL! The card base is Cajun Craze and the background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Yes, I can’t get enough of woodgrain anything! I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder to create my tag from a piece of Soft Suede. A piece of Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape is wrapped around the bottom of the tag and a piece of Mossy Meadow, Striped Satin Ribbon tied with some Linen Thread goes through the top. My tree is from the Festival of Tress Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Tree Punch. The greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also stamped in Mossy Meadow and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. My tree and the greeting are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and so is the tag to the card. A nice clean somewhat traditional Holiday card that would be pretty easy to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thanks for coming along on my road trip this morning too and have a wonderful Saturday! 🙂
