  • Swallowtail Christmas Sneak Peek

Happy Saturday peeps! I’m off to Manhattan this morning and I’m taking the train in because of the snow they say we are going to get. The only good thing about the train is that I will get some reading done. I’m trying to get through the second Hunger Games book Catching Fire, I usually only get to read on the train and I haven’t been taking the train in a lot so it’s taking me a long time to get through it! Hopefully I can finish it today.

My post for today is the Christmas card and gift bag that I gave my mum. I have mentioned before that she is a big fan of butterflies. When I saw the Swallowtail* in the new 2013 Spring Catalog I knew I had to have it. The base of the card is Gumball Green Card Stock. I stamped the Swallowtail Stamp* in Raspberry Ripple on Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. I like that the stamp is so large that it goes off the card stock. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with some Gumball Green Stampin’ Emboss Powder. For the bag I used a small size white bag that I got from the craft store. I stamped the Swallowtail Stamp*, again in Raspberry Ripple on Whisper White Card Stock. The image is the same as the card but I stamped it in Gumball Green ink this time. My mum loved the card and gift bag. This is a great simple elegant card and could be used for so many occasions with a simple greeting change. I hope that you enjoyed the Swallowtail card and bag. Thank you for checking in with me today. I hope that you have a great Saturday!

  • Create with Connie and Mary 232 & Sneak Peek

FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY! A very good Friday morning to you! I have finally recovered from all of the junk that I ate on Christmas day. I do love some chocolate and I made some Chocolate Walnut Fudge that was not bad if I do say myself! LOL! What are you all up to this weekend? I’m off to Manhattan tomorrow morning, I think I will be taking the train in because we are supposed to get some snow. Have mentioned before that I’m not a fan of the white stuff? I hope it will be minimal and gone fast.

For today’s post I have my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card. I was one of their top three picks for last week! Thank you very much ladies! This week we have a color challenge…

    CCMC 232

Nice and cool colors and and some bling! I went with a Valentine’s theme for my card. The base is Whisper White Card Stock and for the background I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used the 1/2″ Circle Punch to “ticket” the corners and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. The main image is from the Love Heart Single Stamp and is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the Full Heart Punch. Under that is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies*. The heart is adhered to the Glimmer Paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The larger heart under that is cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack* and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the edge. The tickets are from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set* and are stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. For the smaller hearts I punched out some more Silver Glimmer Paper with the Small Heart Punch. All of the elements are adhered to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the cool color combination and the ticket stamps are one of my favorites out of the Spring Catalog. I hope that you liked this week’s card for Create with Connie and Mary. Thanks for checking in with me and enjoy the rest of your Friday!

  • Mojo 273 & Sneak Peek

Good day to you all! I do love a short work week, but then again, who doesn’t? I’m looking forward to this weekend and to another short work week next week too! The last two weeks of the year are the best! Do you all have some fun New Year’s Eve plans? I’m going with some friends to a another friends house, it should be fun. It’s so funny that I live so close to Manhattan yet I have no desire to go into Times Square for New Year’s. Must be the crowds that keep me away! I’m rambling, on to more important things now.

Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This week our sketch is provided by Teresa Kline…

    Mojo273

My card features some more new products from the 2013 Spring Catalog. The base of the card is Summer Starfruit Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Baja Breeze and stamped it with the Netting Background Stamp in Baja Breeze. All of the images on the card are from the By the Tide Stamp Set*. The coral on the circle is stamped in Summer Starfruit and the fish is stamped in Basic Gray. The strip of Basic Gray Card Stock has a piece of Natural 7/16″ Trim Ribbon* that I adhered around the back with some Sticky Strip. The seahorse is stamped in Summer Starfruit and the image next to it is stamped in Baja Breeze and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used my Paper Snips to cut out the fish and the seahorse. The fish is mounted to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the seahorse and image are adhered to the ribbon with Mini Glue Dots. For the greeting I used a stamp from Teeny Tiny Wishes and punched it out with the Word Window Punch. It is mounted to a piece of Basic Gray that is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. This is a great masculine card, especially for the outdoorsy type! If you have a fisherman in your life, well this would be perfect! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. Thanks for visiting and have a awesome day! 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew Sketch/Color Challenge #22

Happy day after Christmas! I hope that Santa was good to you all, he was very good to me! The best part of the holiday is spending time with family and friends. I had a nice relaxing day and still found some time to craft a little and watch a movie. With Christmas over I can;t believe that year is almost over. I think it went really fast, how about you? In the blink pf an eye it will be 2013, thankfully the Mayans were wrong!

Today I have my post for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week we have a sketch/color challenge. You can do just the sketch or both, this week I did both. The colors are Bravo Burgundy, More Mustard and Crumb Cake and here is the sketch…

    PCCCS022-Sketch

You all know how I feel about flags… love them! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. For the background I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Parlor Prints Background Stamp in Crumb Cake. The flagged piece is Bravo Burgundy and I embossed it with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The greeting is from the Amazing Family Stamp Set* and is stamped in Bravo Burgundy. The “ribbon” strip is More Mustard and I stamped it in More Mustard with the Travel Journal Builder Wheel. For the embellishment I used a Soda Pop Top* and stamped some images from the Collage Curios Stamp Set* in Crumb Cake and Bravo Burgundy. The image is punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch and adhered to the inside of the Soda Pop Top* with some Multipurpose Glue. I backed it with a piece of More Mustard that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies* and mounted them to each other with some Mini Glue Dots and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the way that all of the elements coordinate together and give the card a slightly vintage look. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Challenge. Don’t forget to submit your projects for me to see! Thank you so much for your time and I hope that you all have a fantastic day! 🙂

  • Merry Christmas! & Sneak Peek!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that you are having a nice day with your family and friends! I still have some cards to make so I better get to it! In the mean time here is my card for today. It’s my Christmas card to all of you! The base of the card is Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. I rounded the corners with the 1″ Circle Punch on the base and the background layer. The background is Very Vanilla and I used the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the outline of the ornament. The greeting is from the Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple, it’s mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flagged piece of paper is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack*. I stamped an image from the Mixed Medley Host(ess) Stamp Set in Raspberry Ripple and punched it out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. I used one of the new Designer Builder Brads* on top and the image under the bubble is from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set*, punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and too is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. The ornament is from the Keepsake Ornaments Stamp Set and again is stamped in Raspberry Ripple, cut out with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits Dies and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the simple elegance and the new Print Poetry DSP Stack coordinates well with the Ornament Keepsakes Set. I hope that you enjoyed your Christmas card and that you have a very happy day! • Sahara Burgundy Sleigh Flurry

Ahh… Monday… but it’s Christmas Eve! Are you all finished with your shopping or are you like me who will be stopping by Target later?! I got most of the last of my Christmas cards made yesterday. I still have some stuff to do but I’m hoping that I can get it finished tonight. Today’s post is a card that I sent to a friend. She sent me a lovely card so I wanted to return the favor. The base of the card is Sahara Sand and I stamped it with the Woodgrain Background Stamp in Sahara Sand. Down the right side is a piece of Bravo Burgundy, the one side is cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits Dies, and a strip of Brushed Gold Card Stock is adhered on top. The image and greetings are from the Open Sleigh Stamp Set and are all stamped in Bravo Burgundy. I cut the sleigh out with my Paper Snips and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Behind it is a another piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock that I cut out with the Snow Flurry Bigz Die. I love the color combination and the vintage feel of the stamp set. I hope that she enjoyed the card and that you like it too. Thank you for spending a little of your time with me. I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas Eve! All of your comments are the best Christmas present I could ever get! 🙂

  • Artichoke Sand Burgundy Thinking Hello & Sneak Peek

It’s Sunday and that means that today is the last full day for last minute holiday shopping. Tomorrow being Christmas Eve the stores will be closing at 6:00. I’m thinking that I forgot to get some stuff so I will need to go out today, most likely earlier rather than later. I have some serious crafting to get done today too. Will someone please be kind enough to remind me in August next year that I need to start making my holiday stuff? Thanks, it’s much appreciated!

Today I have some more sneak peeks of the 2013 Spring Catalog. Some stamps and and a new embellishment. For the base of my card I used a piece of Always Artichoke Card Stock. The background is my new fave the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder* on Sahara Sand. The strip of chevrons is stamped in Always Artichoke and Bravo Burgundy from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set*. The main image is from the Just Thinking Wood Mount Stamp. I stamped it twice, once in Bravo Burgundy and again in Always Artichoke and the Artichoke piece is cut out. Before I adhered it to the Burgundy piece I used one of the new Designer Builder Brads. The image in the middle is from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set, punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, and is stamped in Bravo Burgundy with an epoxy bubble on top. Both of the stamped pieces are mounted to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the chevrons form the Oh, Hello* set and Sahara Sand is becoming my neutral of choice lately. I hope you enjoyed today’s card and thank you for taking some time from your busy Holiday schedule to stop by! Have a great day!

  • Create with Connie and Mary 231 & Sneak Peek

Ahh, Saturday… how I enjoy thee! Happy weekend everyone! What kind of weekend are you going to have? Is it a mad dash to finish your Christmas shopping or are you all done and you just have to get the house ready for your company?! I think I would rather do Holiday shopping than clean the house! It’s off to Manhattan this morning and I’m going to try to go to Bryant Park and browse the shops they have set up there weather permitting. I also have some crafting left to do before Monday so I’ll be very busy this weekend. But it’s a crafty good kind of busy! 🙂

Today’s post is my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a sweet little sketch…

    CCMC 231

For the base of my card I used some Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is made from a piece of Tea For Two Designer Series Paper* on the left and a piece of Bashful Blue that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder* on the right. I adhered a piece of Lucky Limeade 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon across the seam around the back with Sticky Strip. I used stamps from the set Oh, Hello* for the greeting that is stamped in Calypso Coral on a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped in So Saffron and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies*. The piece is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. On the left there is a another piece of Lucky Limeade 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon adhered under a Soda Pop Top. On the inside of the Soda Pop Top is a piece of Calypso Coral that I punched out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and a Basic Jewels Large Rhinestone* is adhered in the center. The two little bees are from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set* and are stamped in So Saffron, punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and adhered with some Mini Glue Dots. I love the different color combination of the Lucky Limeade and Bashful Blue and the Soda Pop Tops are just the coolest embellishment! I hope that you enjoyed my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card for this week. Thank you for checking in with me and have a fun Saturday!

  • Freshly Made Sketches #66 & Sneak Peek!

Good day to you all! What’s the best part about today… it’s FRIDAY! TGIF! This has been a long week and I’m so glad that the weekend is here. Well, assuming that the world doesn’t end today… which would be a bit of a bummer don’t you think?! It is very windy and rainy outside this morning but I think we’ll be ok. I still have more goodies to play with! 🙂

Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week we have a nice sketch from Tui…

    Freshly Made Sketches #66

My card for the sketch is chock full of new goodies from the 2013 Spring Catalog. The base of the card is Pink Pirouette Card Stock. For the strip across the lower half of the card I embossed a piece of Primrose Petals with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. The piece of paper and the large Real Red heart are from the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack*. I adhered the rectangle of DSP to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the heart is adhered with SNAIL. The two hearts on top of that are form the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set*. The the larger doily like heart is stamped in Primrose Petals on Very Vanilla and the smaller heart is stamped in Real Red. Both of them are cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies*. The greeting is from the Cross My Heart Stamp Set* and is stamped in Pool Party. I used my Paper Snips to cut it out and the Owl Builder Punch and some Red Glimmer Paper provide the little heart in the middle. With all of the hearts on this card does’t it just whisper sweet love?!?! LOL! I think that my new favorite color combo is Pool Party and Primrose Petals, don’t they look great together? I hope that you enjoyed my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week. Thank you all so very much for visiting me and for your comments. Have yourselves a stupendous Friday!

  • Control Freaks December Blog Tour!

    freakwelcome

Hello there! How are all of you people doing? I’m doing great, and how could I not be?! It’s time for this month’s Control Freaks December Blog Tour featuring Winter Fun! I am the first stop on the tour but you also may have arrived here from the über talented Connie Babbert’s blog. Didn’t she have some amazing projects?! I have two projects for you this time. One is a masculine box with a lodge feel and the other is a fun card that would be good for just about anything.

First up we have the box. I used one of the Kraft Gift Boxes. These are great item from the Annual Catalog. They are great to decorate with some Designer Series Paper and embellishments. I adhered some paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack around the sides. I like the plaid pattern in Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Early Espresso. On the top of the box I made a paper bow from some Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. It’s 3/4″ wide and if you use your Bone Folder to “curl” it a little it tends not to crease when you make the bow. On top of the bow I stacked three of the Naturals Designer Buttons, adhering them together with Mini Glue Dots. For the tag I stamped an image from the Bring on the Cake Stamp Set in Early Espresso on a piece of Very Vanilla. I punched out a piece of Cherry Cobbler with the 1″ Circle Punch, scored it down the center and adhered it to the tag with some Sticky Strip. A quick punch through the top and some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine to attach it to the bow and you’re done. Quick and easy, great for a masculine treat!

    IMG_2173

    IMG_2175

Next up we have the card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. A piece of paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack is flagged and adhered to the background. The stamped image is form the Wonderful Winterland Stamp Set stamped in Basic Black. I colored it in with Island Indigo, Pool Party, Blush Blossom, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand and Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Markers. The 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch is used to punch it out and a piece of Pool Party cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit Die backs it. They are mounted to each other and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. I cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. I love the little girl and bunny sharing some cocoa, a friendly little card for someone special.

I hope that you enjoyed my project for the December Control Freaks Tour featuring Winter Fun. Next up we have Yvette Ash. She has some super fun projects to share with you! Thanks so much for stopping here and enjoy the rest of the projects from the Control Freaks. Have a great day! 🙂
