  • Paper Craft Crew Sketch 35

So here we are at Wednesday, half way there! Today I was Mr. Fix-It at work. My friend Lisa was having trouble getting her car started. I determined that it was the battery in her smart key and Toyota couldn’t fix it. My friend Anthony’s wheelchair wouldn’t work so I tinkered with that and fixed that. Finally my friend Danielle’s Nexus 7 wouldn’t turn on so I got that to work. I came home and played with MDS for a bit and made a card (wanted to make more but time just gets away!). All in all a good day. How was your day?

Wednesday means it’s Paper Craft Crew time. This week we have a sketch for you to play with…

    PCCCS035 3-27-2013 Sketch

I looked at the Parker’s Patterns DSP and the Spec-tacular stamp and decided to go with a retro vibe. The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Woodgrain Background Stamp inked in Crumb Cake for the background. Two strips of Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper fill in the middle. The Spec-tacular Single Stamp is stamped in Cajun Craze on Very Vanilla. I colored in a pair of the glasses with the Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker and backed it with a piece of Not Quite Navy. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The button is a Silver Basics Designer Button. I punched a piece of Not Quite Navy with the 1/2″Circle Punch and a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack and adhered them  to the center of the button. Some Mini Glue Dots hold the button to the  card. The sentiment is form the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set, stamped in Not Quite Navy and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. For a little 60’s vibe I stamped the peace symbols from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy and punched them out with a standard hole punch. Some more Mini Glue Dots hold them in place. I love the Spec-tacular Stamp and the colors and DSP do give it a bit of a retro feel. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Stop by the blog and check out the other designers projects and enter one of yours for me to take a peek at! Thanks for checking in and I hope that you have a nice day! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 155

And here we go again! I know I say it all the time but the weekend goes way too fast! I did have a very nice day yesterday with Kim. We stopped and did some shopping on the way back to Manhattan. I got some more much needed craft storage (M’s had a great sale yesterday!), now I just need to figure out where I’m going to put it! I got a parking space on the street and we had lunch at the diner. They have such great burgers, cooked just right, large portion and very reasonably priced! After lunch we went downtown and I stopped in at the Ink Pad (just to browse!), after that some coffee at Roasting Plant Coffee. I got home in record time and picked up Taylor, she surfed the internet and I crafted. Not a bad weekend at all!

Today I have my Pals Paper Arts card for their sketch challenge…

    PPA 155

The base of my card is Primrose Petals Card Stock, I rounded the right corners on all of the pieces with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. For the background, just a plain piece of Very Vanilla. The strips of paper are from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. The main image/greeting is the Hello, Hello Single Stamp and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple and backed with a piece of the same. I think the stamp looks great with some of the flowers from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I punched some out in Summer Starfruit and Primrose Petals and adhered them with Mini Glue Dots. It needed one more thing… ahh… some Basic Jewels Pearls in the center of the flowers, that’s just what it needed! I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Nice, simple but not too simple. I hope that you enjoyed my Pals Paper Arts card for the sketch challenge. I thank you, as always for stopping by and I hope that you have as best Monday you can! 🙂

  • Paper Players #138 🙂

And there goes Saturday, fast as always! I hope that you had a fun day yesterday, I did. I crafted in the morning and went out and did a little shopping. I met my friend Maureen for lunch, we had Panera, definitely one of my favorites. I love their Chopped Chicken Cobb with Avocado Salad and their Acia Berry Iced Tea. I got my friend Kim from the airport after her week in paradise as she called it! All in all a very good day!

Since today is Sunday that means it’s time for another Paper Players Challenge. First, congratulations to Natalie for being my choice for Cut Above on last week’s challenge! This week the amazing Anne Marie has given us this clever sketch…

    Paper Players #138 Sketch 3-24-2013

I’m liking it a lot! I knew what I was going to use, it just took a little selective weeding to get my card just right. The base of my card is Riding Hood Red Card Stock. I used one of the stamps from the Paper Pumpkin Kit to stamp the random ink drops for the background in Basic Gray. The tag in the middle, stamp and ruler are all from the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper Pack. There are some really great images on the sheets that you can cut out or punch out. The ruler along the right side is backed with a piece of Basic Gray that I punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. The stamp is punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch and backed with a piece of Riding Hood Red that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Square Punch. The tag and the stamp are adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The tag is also backed with a piece of Very Vanilla to give it a little extra strength and the corners are rounded with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. I stamped some images from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in Riding Hood Red and Basic Gray and punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. A standard office paper clip holds them to the tag. The greeting is from the Family Reunion Stamp Set. I stamped it in Riding Hood Red and cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. After I cut off the left side I adhered it to the card with SNAIL. I forgot how much I like the Riding Hood Red paired with the Basic Gray and how neat the Fan Fair DSP is. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Sketch Challenge brought to you by Anne Marie. • Create with Connie and Mary 244

Ahh… the weekend! Yesterday was a little rough after my Thursday but I made it through. I had dinner last night at Buffalo Wild Wings with Danielle and Anthony. Mmm… fried pickles are delicious! The wings are a little salty , I needed Chapstick soon after dinner but all in all a very nice meal. What are you all up to for the weekend? I’m off to the airport tonight to retrieve my friend Kim. Sunday I’m thinking I will take her home but this morning is a crafty morning!

For today’s post I have my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a color challenge…

    CCMC 244

I decided to go super clean and simple. The base of my card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock. I stamped the butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy down the left side. The card is also cut to 4 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ so that the Marina Mist banner can hang off the side but still fit in a standard envelope. The greeting is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and is also stamped in Not Quite Navy. I flagged the right side and hid the left under a butterfly that is stamped in Daffodil Delight and punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. I added some Basic Jewels Rhinestones for a little sparkle and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do like the simplicity of the card and I think the colors work well with the layout. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge. Thanks for visiting and have a creative day!

  • Control Freaks March Blog Tour!

    freakwelcome

Hello and welcome to the March Control Freaks Blog Tour. This time around the theme is Spring! Boy could I use some spring right about now! Tomorrow is the first day of Spring but we had snow here on Long Island yesterday. Like I said… so ready for Spring!

If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the super creative Lisa Martz’s blog. She always has some fantastic stuff to share doesn’t she?! This month I have three projects for you, two cards and a candy jar.

The first of my cards is simple but I love the way it looks. I often need cards that can make the long journey over to England where most of my family is. A one layer card always fits the bill. The base of the card is Pool Party Card Stock. I cut a piece of Very Vanilla to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and stamped all of my images on it. The jar is from the Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set that was carried over from the 2012 Holiday Catalog and it is stamped in Pool Party. The greeting is from the Make a Wish Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I stamped the hearts from the Oh, Whale! Stamp Set in Pool Party and Calypso Coral, stamping off some of them. I love the random hearts and the jar, they remind me of fireflies! Stamping off is a nice simple yet fun way to give a one dimensional card a little depth.

Control Freak Blog Tour Jar Card

For my second card I wanted to showcase the new Photopolymer Stamp Set. The base of this card is Primrose Petals Card Stock. I stamped some images from the Make a Cake Stamp Set in Primrose Petals, using the cake that I stamped in Raspberry Ripple to line up the little banner. The Happy Birthday banner is from the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set. The banner stamp itself is straight but you can bend it when you mount them to your clear block and that’s what I did. It’s stamped in Raspberry Ripple and the letters in Primrose Petals. I used my Paper Snips to cut them out and they are mounted to the card with leftover Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. The cake is also mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The best part about the Photopolymer Set is that you can see exactly where you are going to stamp making it great for alphabets, easy to line up every time!

Control Freaks Blog Tour Poly Cake Card

My last project is a little jar with some jellybeans inside. I wrapped some Tea for Two Designer Series Fabric around the middle of the jar and adhered it with some Sticky Strip. A piece of Tea Lace Paper Doily was adhered to the fabric with some SNAIL before I attached it. The little chick is from the Everybunny Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers. A Stampin’ Dimensional holds it in place. On the top of the jar I punched a piece of Whisper White with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered it to the jar with some Mini Glue Dots. The rolled rose is made by punching a piece of Calypso Coral with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and cutting in a spiral with my Paper Snips. After you roll it up some hot glue keeps it from unwinding. I punched some Lucky Limeade with the 1″ Circle Punch for the leaves and some more Mini Glue Dots hold it all on top. The flag is a piece of Whisper White and I used the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set for Taylor, stamped in Calypso Coral. The Happy Easter is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is also stamped in Calypso Coral. For the egg I used the Itty Bitties Stamp Set and stamped it in Chocolate Chip. The flag is wrapped around a skewer and held closed with Sticky Strip. The butterfly is cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit from Calypso Coral. A little fabric, card stock and some stamps make a fun way to dress up a plain glass container.

  • Mojo 285

Another fun filled Monday… how about you? I fixed an iPhone back cover last night, always fun! It snowed here again, we got about an inch. I really am so ready for spring. If any of you have some extra warm weather that you could send this way please do so! Thanks! 🙂

It’s Tuesday so that means it’s time for another Mojo Monday Sketch. This week we have a very different sketch from Julee Tilman…

    Mojo285

I wanted to use some more of the Sale-A-Bration goodies before it ends in just three short days. Better get those last minute orders in before it’s too late! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a plain piece of Sahara Sand. I used a piece of the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper on the right side and covered it with strips of Island Indigo that I embossed with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A piece of 7/8″ Natural Trim Ribbon goes across the middle and is adhered around the back with Sticky Strip. The corners are made by punching a piece of Summer Starfruit with the 1″ Square Punch and cutting it in half. I stamped it with the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set in Summer Starfruit and some SNAIL holds them in each corner. The greeting is from the Dude, You’re Welcome Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party and cut out with a Sizzix Circle Framelit. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two little tickets from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set are punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and one of the buttons form the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack, threaded with some Whisper White Bakers Twine, holds them in place with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I think the greeting works well with the Sycamore Street DSP and the card would work for a man or a woman. I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card. Thank you for checking in and I hope that you have a great day! Don’t forget to send some of that warm weather… Thanks!

  • Paper Players #137 🙂

Hello there! Wow! That was a long day yesterday! I went to bed at 12:00am, got up at 3:00am, went to the airport, drove into the city, napped from 5:00am to 6:30am and then ran around the city until 5:30pm. To cap it off it snowed almost the whole day! I got home around 6:20pm and me and the child went to Panera for dinner. I’m a little tired still! I hope you all had a good day yesterday.

Sunday already… that means it’s time for another Paper Players Challenge. This week we have cool sketch from the amazing Ann…

    Paper Players #137 Sketch 3-17-2013

I have been wanting to use the Swallowtail Stamp from the Spring Catalog as a background and I thought this would be the perfect card for it. The base of my card is Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. I stamped the Swallowtail Stamp in Raspberry Ripple on a piece of Very Vanilla. Before I adhered the panel to the card I used some Sticky Strip to adhere the piece of Raspberry Ripple 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back. Some Vellum Card Stock (I have been quite into Vellum lately!) Is punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch and embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I punched some butterflies out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch from some Raspberry Ripple and adhered them to the Vellum with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A Mini Glue Dot is the strategically placed behind each one to “invisibly” hold them to the card. The greeting is from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones add a little bling and finish off the card. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Clean and Simple Sketch from Ann. Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards over at the Paper Players blog. Thank you very much for stopping by, I hope that you have a lovely Sunday!

  • Create with Connie and Mary 243

Good morning! If you are seeing this post that means that my 3:30am airport run was successful and I have made it into Manhattan. One little flaw in my plan for today was that the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is today… hopefully I will miss the aftermath of it entirely. Fingers crossed! I’m not really a huge fan of all of the drunk people wandering from bar to bar in the city. When I worked in Manhattan I used to dread when St. Patrick’s Day fell on a weekday. I’m not a huge drinker and I’m definitely not a fan of public intoxication and all of the humiliation that goes along with it. I am wishing now that I was on that plane to Mexico with my friend Kim!

Enough of that now on to today’s post which is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary. The ladies have provided us with a nice simple sketch…

    CCMC 243

The base of my card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock and I used a piece of paper from the Parker’s Patters Designer Series Paper Pack for the background. The middle panel is created using the Scallop Trim Border and Scallop Trim Corner Punches. The are a ton of tutorials on the web showing how to get it to go around the square perfectly. I used the one on Gretchen Barron’s site, I think she did a great job explaining it! I used Crumb Cake to make mine and the greeting is from the Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Set and is stamped in Not Quite Navy on Whisper White. The flagged piece is also from the Parker’s Patterns DSP, I think the patterns in the paper are called Ikat. On the left side I used one of the Silver Basic Designer Buttons backed with a piece of Early Espresso that I punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the Parker’s Patterns DSP, it has a nice masculine feel to it. I hope that you enjoyed my Create with Connie and Mary card for this week’s challenge. Thank you for all of your congratulations on my Fab Friday Design Team announcement yesterday, I appreciate them! I hope that you have a nice safe Saturday! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches #77

Hello everyone, how are we today? I’m good but that was one big bad Wednesday! I’m glad that’s done and we are almost at Friday! It was a really nice and sunny day here on Long Island yesterday. The weatherman said that it’s just a taste and that today it will be in the 20’s! It was 50 degrees here yesterday, that’s quite a drop! Time for the thick coat once again, maybe for the last time… we can only hope. 🙂 A quick thank you to Theresa for pointing out that I forgot that I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch on the right side of the main panel of the card that I posted yesterday! 🙂

So, for today’s post I have my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. I have to say that I really like their re-design that they did over on their blog. This week we have a sketch from Jennifer T….

    Freshly Made Sketches #77

I have been having a very good run with my visual memory this week. I saw the sketch and immediately thought of the new Best of Flowers Stamp Set. For the base of my card I used a piece of Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. A strip of Lucky Limeade is embossed using the Borders Scoring Plate. I pierced the right side and a “Vintage” Sweet Shop Jelly Bean Brad is placed there and some SNAIL and Sticky Strip hold it to the card. The layer behind the main image is a piece of Primrose Petals that I embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main image, as I mentioned before, is from the Best of Flowers Stamp Set and I used my Primrose Petals and Lucky Limeade Stampin’ Write Markers to ink it. The greeting is from the Essentials Wood Mount Set and is stamped in Basic Black. I backed it with a piece of Basic Black and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the black looks with the Primrose and Limeade, it gives it a touch of elegance. I hope that you like my Freshly Made Sketches Card for this week’s challenge from Jennifer T. It’s always a pleasure to have you visit and leave me a comment, I hope that you have a super Thursday!

  • Paper Craft Crew Sketch 33

TGIW! Thank god we are halfway through the week. I don’t know what is up at work lately but I want to run! LOL! I just think I need a little mental health day, have I mentioned that before?! The weather didn’t help with the mood, it was gloomy and rainy all day. Again, it’ better than snow! Hehehe! I have a something funny to tell you. My friend Kim is going away and I offered to take her to the airport before I asked the time of the flight. The flight is 6:00am Saturday, which means that we have to leave my house at 3:30am. What have we learned? To ask what time the flight is first! LOL! I would have done it anyway, but it’s pretty funny no?!?!

Since today is Wednesday that means it’s Paper Craft Crew day! This week we have a sketch for you…

    PCCCCS033 TCC St. Pat 3-13-2013

I do love a square card! I did something that I thought was a little cool with the sentiment on the card too. The base of the card is Elegant Eggplant Card Stock. The background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped with the En Francais Background Stamp in More Mustard. The panel in the middle is stamped with an element from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set in Elegant Eggplant. I backed it with a piece of Elegant Eggplant and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flower is made by punching two pieces of Elegant Eggplant put with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and using my Paper Snips to cut the petals. I put a Basic Glimmer Brad in the middle and fluffed up the petals. The leaves are punched out from Always Artichoke using the Blossom Petals Builder Punch. A small strip of More Mustard is flagged and adhered to the panel and the flower is adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The greeting is stamped in More Mustard on Vellum Card Stock. I used my Heat Tool to speed the drying and then a strip of More Mustard hides the Stampin’ Dimensional that I adhered it to the card with. I really like the way the greeting stands away from the background but you can still see it. I will definitely do this again, I really like the effect. I hope that you enjoy my Paper Craft Crew Design Team Sketch card for this week’s challenge. Let me know what you think of the greeting and thank you so much for checking in with me. I hope that you have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂
